don't get confused...yes you are in a restaurant, that also serves as a local fish market. I've been coming here for years since my friend recommended it to me as a stop off from Hamptons back to NYC.
Super super casual ambience, there's some outdoor seating as well. Think, plastic lawn furniture.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about whats good and fresh for the day.
The food...needs no fancy plates (good thing because most items are served in metal plates which remind me of prison, hah!) because it speaks for itself. Fresh, tasty and perfectly prepared. I usually get the Clambake or the fish (usually changes but is normally a white fish of some sort) with a lemon butter crab sauce..yum!
As a nice take away, i always head to the counter and buy some seafood to take home with me. Cant get better than this! -

Short on atmosphere but food was fantastic!! Monk fish was super.
Coconut shrimp very yummy. Service and staff was fantastic. Forget the chains, go local. -
Review from holly w.
Great mashed sweet potatoes, really bad fried seafood, poor service and everything else was just ok.
The service was really not good all night - as we were being seated the waitress decided to wipe the table down "just to make sure" so our party of four was accosted by intense chemical, cleaner fumes standing around the table, not exactly something to induce the appetite.
There were two wait staff covering the room of only about 5 seated tables but service was extremely slow, I don't think it was their fault though, they seemed to be in the cooking area doing some kind of side work most of the time. We had to wait long periods between visits to our table and after the food was delivered I don't think we saw anyone again until we were ready to leave.
The food was hit and miss. We started with the seafood and NE clam chowder soups and a tossed salad which were all fine, nothing exceptional but reasonably competent. We were surprised there was no bread basket so ordered the garlic bread which was basically one soft toasted hoagie roll - it was good but there was not much of it for $3.
My friend liked her 1/2 pound of broiled sea scallops; also the Clam Bake (lobster, mussels, clams, shrimp) was good as well but really nothing special. The one thing that we all agreed was delicious was the mashed sweet potatoes - creamy and dense and not too sweet.
I couldn't find what I wanted on the menu, a broiled seafood combination kind of dish so asked if they would do the Seafood Basket (fish, shrimp, bay scallops, clam strips) broiled instead of fried and was happy to hear they would "since it was slow", though the clam strips were frozen and had to be fried.
The thickly coated clam strips were horrible, the few tiny shrimp & bay scallops were fine but not very high quality, like something I'd get on sale at the grocery store seafood counter and the tiny pieces of fish were definitely off, like they'd gone bad. I would have told the waitress but after I discovered this she never showed up again until long after we were done eating.
Hubby thought he was ordering the Fisherman Basket which had fresh fried clams but somehow ended up with the Seafood Basket as well which was a total disappointment - again the breading was revolting, thick and greasy and the fries were those "textured" kind, yuck.
So definitely stay away from the fried dishes here and if you are in a rush, go to a different restaurant! I would give a 2.5 here if I could but Yelp doesn't do halves so I will give them a 3 but I would never go back again. -

Buoy One!
It's simple, unpretentious, classic seafood, relaxed, casual and easy, light on the wallet and just simply good. It's the type of place that doesn't want or pretend to be more than it is, it's just a seafood shack/fish market on the side of a main road that serves good seafood dishes with little fuss.
The service for me has always been pleasant and prompt and the atmosphere while not on the water or the greatest ever has always been none the less more than inviting after a day in Greenport and wanting to get away from the crowds. Overall a very solid choice if you're looking for some solid seafood choices. -

We really enjoyed this place. When we drive by I was a little skeptical but once we got inside it reminded me of a restaurant on the Cape. The food was just flat out good. They had specials and plenty of choices. My husband had shrimp with a blue cheese alfredo sauce that was out of this world!! The alfredo sauce is made to order and everything in the dish had great balance. I took a risk and ordered a margarita and it was amazing. I was expecting it to be really sweat and taste like store bought margarita mix but it was very clean and refreshing. If we are ever in the area again we will be sure to stop by. This restaurant is very reasonably priced, good quality food and highly recommended

Riverhead, NY
Simply put, Buoy One rocks in terms of food quality, service and overall value - one of the better places in Riverhead for great seafood.
Had the "small" steamers appetizer which is basically half a portion served in a bucket, which is huge and a major value - clean and tender.
Entree was the broiled striped bass with garlic butter, baked potato and steamed green beans, all perfectly prepared and seasoned.
One thing to note is that the menu specials change often and offer dishes with an Asian flair which are quite good as well.
Dessert was the strawberry and peach apple crisp cobbler with whipped cream, warm and very sweet
Service was spot-on, super friendly, thorough and attentive. Outdoor seating is available during warmer days and evenings.
If you're looking for a quality seafood meal in a unique setting, Be One With The Buoy! -

New York, NY
We stopped by this place after a day of wine tasting at various vineyards in the north fork. The atmosphere is very casual and home style, which is not a bad thing. We had a bit of a wait to fit our part of 10+. The service was friendly and food came out at a steady pace once our orders were in.
Prices are very reasonable for a seafood place - i had split the crab cake with a friend. It was a bit over breaded and too heavy. It could have been filled with anything, as all you got was that deep fried flavor.
The seafood bisque however was excellent. Hearty chunks of fish were generously scattered throughout the soup which had that strong ocean flavor that only fresh seafood has.
For my main dish i had the clam bake. This was HUGE and could easily be shared between two people. The lobster was steamed well (not over cooked), i could not say the same for the mussels which were a bit mealy in texture.
Overall this is a restaurant id visit again, good prices, i think you just have to find the right balance between the deep fried and fresh and simple stuff on the menu. -
Review from Tracy K.
We loved this place. They have a real chef here and you can tell. It is super casual off the beaten path (not in town but just west on 25 outside of the village) and across from a famous homemade ice cream place.
Best picks are New England clamchowder, seafood bisque (it is super- they both are) the panko crusted oysters with a cool seafood sauce - amazing.Listed in: Hampton's Restaurants

No frills seafood restaurant near the Tanger outlets. The atmosphere is casual, but clean and updated, and the food is impressive.
This is the kind of place you head to after the beach, when you're in shorts and in the mood for some rum punch and finger food. The rum punch, by the way, is awesome.
There's limited seating indoors, but the outside area is really nice and kind of reminds me of my backyard. We tried the flounder with crab sauce, manhattan clam chowder, mussels and baked clams.
The flounder was amazing and covered in huge amounts of crab tossed with garlic, butter and old bay.
I'll keep going back!! -

A hidden gem along East Main St. in riverhead, NY.
The clam bake was so good but the shrimps were a little over done. -

So I've driven by this place a million and one times and always thought "EWWW I"M NOT EATING AT THAT ....HOLE" . I should have been slapped in the face at the mere ignorance of this claim because once I opened my mind, I realized how fantastic it really is.
I had the sesame pan seared tuna (my favorite dish of all time) and was surprised at how delicious, fresh, and large the portion was! The pairing of sides complimented the dish well. They also serve liquor which I was surprised about.
The outdoor dining is great although sitting right on the highway is a little less than desirable I can overlook that. The prices are absolutely fantastic for the portions you are receiving. I mean I guess if you're going to eat seafood you might as well get it from a fish market that is always stocked with the freshest food!
Definitely a diamond in the rough! -

Had the clambake 24.95 to go. Definitely well worth it. 1lb and 1/4 lobster peel and eat shrimp mussels steamers(I substituted hard shell) corn on the cob and baked potato.Very good portion and all cooked just right. Served with drawn butter and cocktail sauce . Yummy!

Review from Rocky F.
Decent seafood spot, had a bucket of clams which were fresh and delicious as well as a basket of fried bay scallops. The fried calamari here is good as well. Also outdoor seating in summer. Only downside is that service can be very slow here, even when it's not busy.

I have passed this shack I will call it for over 12 years as I go home to Southold.
I was always like what a run down needs to be painted esablishment.
On Saturday after a day of shopping and heading into town this smell captured my senses. It was the smell of good fresh seafood being grilled.
Oh I am glad I did let me nose have me make a u turn and head back to this place.
I had the tuna blackened and I substituted mashed sweet potato instead of the mashed white ones. I think mashed white potato have not taste or substance.
I am glad I did the tuna was awesome and the sweet potato were the perfect creamy mixture. The were almost as good as the ones my great great grannie use to cook for me as a tot.
My guest had some seafood platter that was awesome.
The flounder and stuffing were a perfect combination. The stuffed shrimp were tasty and well seasoned. The clams which I never eat were tasty with just the right amount of spice.
Only thing I wish was better was the garlic bread. It was a bit on the dry side.
Also they include no salad or bread with the dinners.
I found the price to be well within reason as compared to that other folk.
I spent 55usd for a great meal and had a glass of sangria with it.
I would say if ever heading out on the north folk or even after a day of shopping stop by this lil seafood shack. -

Not bad. I had the coconut shrimp and a side of mashed sweet potatoes and it wasn't bad. Maybe a little over cooked and possibly they could add a little more coconut to their batter but for New York, it ain't bad. My husband ordered the clams on a half shell and we both walked out happy...as clams. (I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself.) I'd return but would try something else.

FOREST HILLS, NY
I knew this place would have some reviews, despite the fact that it is off the beaten path. It used to be a place called Gloria's and I went there with my grandparents when they were still alive. Went last weekend, had an AMAZING bucket of muscles with my mom. We also had the broiled scallops, another crowd pleaser. Do not however order fried calamari, theirs is not very good. The onion rings are great, the clam chowder is pretty good as well. It's casual and there is outdoor seating, but it's still a nice place to bring a date. I want to eat there every day. Alas. The distance.

I absolutely love this place in Riverhead, NY. It is very casual with a nice outdoor dining patio; however, this is my go-to spot for takeout seafood orders whenever I am in this area visiting my kids. The thing to get here (for takeout) is the fried fisherman's platter / sampler. For about 20 or 25 bucks, you get fish, scallops, shrimp, clam feet, clam bellies, hush puppies and fries. Everything tastes like it came fresh off the boat, into the perfectly seasoned breading and flash-fried to perfection. It is enough to feed two adults and two kids.

This place is great. Right outside of Tanger if you want to get away from the shopping crowds and food courts. My lobster bake meal was a little dry, but their oysters were the freshest I ever had. Will definitely go back.

Riverhead, NY
This place was fun and the food was pretty good. The service wasn't really anything special though. Maybe they were just busy or maybe our server wasn't in a good mood but yeah the food was the best part. Lobster, shrimp, crabcakes. Everything tasted awesome. I would go there again.

This is a Seafood market with a restaurant. The restaurant serves very fresh seafood and has Blue Moon on tap. The oysters on a half shell were some of the best that I ever had, and the scallops were delicious.

a bit pricey, but soooooooo good! When i'm working in the Tanger Outlet Center I often get a communal order and money collection from my coworkers and one of us calls the order in and shoots out there to pick it up. They have a pick up / take out counter inside the store. I've never sat down and eaten, so I can't speak much of anything of the dine-in experience.

If you like a dirty place with prison style metal bowl/dishes and not even bread and butter not to mention mediocre food then head over. Otherwise take some advice and go to one of the many other better holes in a wall restUrants

Awesome local find. Great seafood and just up the road from Tanger, though I'd come even if I wasn't right in the area. Unpretetious and relaxed atmosphere and service, they also do a nice to-go business. Oh, and finish with the chocolate mousse.

Centereach, NY
I went there for a late lunch with 2 other people. I sat down and ordered a diet sprite. There was only one waitress working, and she told me there was no such thing with a bad attitude. Instead of arguing with her and telling her that she was wrong, I just ordered an iced tea. Bad customer service continued, she never refilled our drinks. She took my plate away, and I told her I was not done. She came back and snapped are you done now. My husband had a clam bake which was good and a lot of food. He had a dozen shrimps in a mesh bag which he only ate one. There was a bag of dozen mussels which he did not touch. He asked the waitress to wrap them up. We came home and found out the bag of mussels was missing. He called them and asked if we could come back for it. They refused. I don't know how the whole bag of mussels could end up missing. I hope they dont sell it to other customers, or you might just be eating someone's leftover. I will never go back there again. I don't need to pay for bad service in addition to paying for something I didn't get. There are other good seafood places in the area. I love Brewsters Seafood Market in Hampton Bays. Their food is fantastic and service is wonderful. We ordered takeout once and they didn't include an item. We called them, they were apologetic and we got our food.
