Something to remember when going to any beach pizza joint-  Even when it's "New York style", that doesn't mean it's going to be exactly like New York style pizza.  There's a reason it's $3 for a huge slice or two of pizza and a drink.  That said, Buona Pizza is a pretty decent pizza place in the St. Pete Beach area.  We've eaten here several times and have never had bad service, even when the outside tables were packed.

The pizza is pretty standard but they also have a large menu of other food options in addition to just pizza.  Their calzone is the best I've had in the area, and for $9 you can easily make two meals out of it.  Beer selection is also pretty good.

There are a LOT of dining choices in St. Pete Beach, and quite a few pizza places in that mix as well, but Buona is a great place to stop for lunch or a later in evening pie after a day at the beach.  And the best part is you can bring everyone, because they really have something for everyone!

Stopped in for supper with the family, 5 of us. Pizza, pasta, beers, bottled water, and a couple of salads. There's two tables open on each side of the door. Waitress says she has to split us up because she can't push the tables together. There's also a vacant table at the far end of the restaurant. She hesitates. I offer to help her carry the table ~20 feet and combine the two. Again she hesitates and says we can do that, but we have to push the tables against the wall. Not a problem.

Food ordered. +30 minutes later, out comes the wrong pizza and it was overcooked, the salads, the pasta swimming in butter(I asked for butter on the side). No bread, no apologies, no comps. Excuse for the delay was they ran out of lettuce. The restaurant is in the same mall as a supermarket. Not a good excuse.

Nope, not going back. After 4 years of eating there, while it's the same guys(owner) behind the counter, the wait-staff tonight was abysmal. Lesson learned: If the wait-staff isn't smiling when you walk in the door, find someplace else to dine.

Wow- I finally found a decent pizza on the beach!  Perfect dough with a nice crust, good quality cheese and cooked perfectly.  The garlic knots were standard but good and the antipasto was heavy with toppings, not skimpy at all.  The balsamic dressing was the perfect addition rather than a regular red wine dressing.
And to top it off the cannoli was crispy and overflowing with a very tasty filling.  This place hit it just right and will definitely be my new go-to pizza place.  I'll repost after I try some of their other pasta dishes!

Stopped here with a co-worker en route to Tampa after a long day of meetings.  We're in town from NYC.  Thanks, Yelp, for the rec.

Decent happy hour (especially compared to NYC prices).  $2 beer and wine until 6.

Great pizza and reasonably priced.  Lots of choices.  Made fresh and the crust is perfect--which means great dough.

    Friendly staff.

The wife, kid, and I found this place while at the public beach access for St. Pete's Beach.  It was right across the street from the beach so we walked over and figured, "Hey, pizza works, you really can't screw up pizza"
Their pizza was fantastic, pizza by the slice where big slices with great toppings and hand-tossed dough.  They also have calzones and sandwiches, and other italian favorites; manicotti, alfredo, calamari, and bruschetta.  If they do the rest of their food like their pizza then the rest of their food is divine.
I highly recommmend this place to all the locals in St. Petersburg or St. Pete's Beach.  Tell your friends.  They also have pizza to go and do delivery.

Very disappointed.  I went with my extended family over President's weekend.  It was busy but we were seated right away.  The drinks and salads were a little slow (understandable since it was busy) but the pizzas arrived over an hour after the salads were served!  There were people that arrived after us that were served their pizza before us, and we overheard the kitchen staff saying they "messed up our order."  They made no attempt to right the situation and the pizza they brought out to us was soggy, undercooked, and very skimpy on the toppings.  I would not recommend going there.

Terrible service, since this place was sold the pizza has become terrible.  We had to wait over an hour and a half only to have raw pizza served. We were so hungry we ate it anyway.  Too bad you can't give zero stars.
