Are you ready for change? Really, really ready for it? Test that desire by getting a free haircut here as part of their infamous (and somewhat urban legend-ish) apprentice program. I skipped the "model call" and found a stylist getting trained here through a website called http://salonapprentice... (and no, I am not a shill for them) and was contacted by a student who needed a model for his "razor bob" test.

The end result: my huge, overgrown mop of untameable curls is now a short, A-line bob that I am honestly having trouble coming to terms with. But not because of the cut, but because of me.

The stylists here all seemed very competent and trust that there's an older instructor watching their every move and who will go over your cut at the end with a meticulous eye. So, don't fear about the fact you are going to a training session and are a bit of a guinea pig.

Your own instincts and capacity to try something out of your element? That's something you'll have to handle yourself.

I have had two experiences here.  The first positive, the second not so great.

1) Hair cut w/ Todor.  He was great, and styled my thick unruly hair quite nicely.  The shampoo-ists/massages were a great touch...loved the salon.
2) wanted to try out the "morning blow outs" thing.  I called a few days before my friday night event to make an appointment.  The guy who answered the phone said no appointments were necessary and I could just walk in.  I thought this was a bit strange, but, then, why would he lie?  I get there on Friday morning, and a lady @ the front desk is DOWN RIGHT B*TCHY about the fact that I do not have an appointment.  I explained that one of her colleagues said that I didn't need an appointment and she looked at me like I had 10 heads.

Despite my negative experience in example #2, I still think the salon is nice.  If I don't go home to get my haircut, I'd go here again.

B&B is amazing, I am totally addicted.  After having a hair catastrophe abroad (thank you Dutch hairdresser for cutting off all my hair starting in the back) I've been very distrustful of hairdressers.  To make matters worse, when I came home my stylist tried to fix it by giving me a she-mullet.  B&B, you are my hair heros.  Your stylists have dealt with my hair growing out in the most awkward of ways and even cut it to grow out nicely when I was moving to Budapest for a few months.  The style actually kept relatively well!  The stylists will also work with any picture you bring in, they don't just follow it, they turn it into a style to suit your face.

I'm a last minute booker so I usually take whichever Level 2 stylist is available and I've never had a bad haircut!

Thank you B&B for guaranteeing I will never have a she-mullet again.

I came in to be a hair model for someone and they were nice enough to put me in with their coloring people as well (I had some amateur hair coloring in Spain earlier in the summer).  The head colorist told me that I'd look tacky if I got some funky color streak (which was all the rage at the time), and the only reason that the other people in the salon was allowed to get something like that was because 1) they were paying customers and probably didn't want to be called tacky and 2) I have black hair, which isn't conducive for coloring.  Loved them.

Lisa has gone to another salon, but Bumble and Bumble retains its 5 star-dom.

I had color with Reese last weekend, and so far so good.  I haven't reached out and punched in my mirror out of frustration, which is a very good sign.

Another good sign is that my mother has approved Reese's work.  Mami has great hair and great taste in general.  The woman has never had a bad hair day nor has she ever dressed poorly in the 32 years I've known her.  Thus, her approval guarantees that I will visit Reese again.

I have ethnic hair, black hair, african-american hair (whatever you want to call it, love) and I was really nervous about going into this place and entrusting my hair to a white lady. I was just as wary because I knew getting my hair cut here was going to cost some serious dough. It was worth every penny.

They had a black woman cut my hair and she taught me a good deal about how to take care of it. It's been a week and my hair still looks fantastic. FANTASTIC. It was the best cut I've ever had. I will never go anywhere else. Ever.

I thought I needed a haircut and I was in the area, why not? I just wanted to wear a wig once I had stepped out. I could get a better haircut in a mall store than I did here! My bangs where un-even and I almost lost a part of my ear, I just couldnt wait for it to end.

I loved the atmosphere, the free tea, the kimonos as robes and going upstairs for coloring.

Would I come back? Cuts no and Coloring yes.

I used to have an a-line bob and now I am trying to grow my hair out. (such a painful process)  I went and saw Joey a couple weeks ago.  She gave me a really great cut to transition from short to long hair.  I didn't feel rushed at all and she listened to all my requests.  The salon itself is a little intense with the amount of stations/people in there.  It can be a little overwhelming (kind of like an assembly line of women), but on the plus side, I was in and out of there within the hour.

During my cut, there was a girl taking note of all the products that Joey used on me, so of course I bought the Surf Spray and Holding Spray.  The total came out to $156 (cut + 2 products, $20 tip).  I'll definitely go back for color, since I've heard they do a great job.  Joey is great and I'd definitely recommend seeing her.  I will admit that paying more for B&B's heavily established brand is well worth it.  Very professional.

Also keep in mind that you must tip in cash!!!

So now I have a cute, tousled, layered, razor bob. Randy was her same fabulous, zen-like self. Her new assistant blew my hair out so gently that I almost fell asleep. My hair feels lighter, it has more texture, and will grow in nicely.

After I left the salon, I had two people stop me on the street to ask me how I was doing.   Then a group of cops told me to have a very nice day.

I always love a trip to B&B, cuz you'll always get a great cut, whether you're using one of their top stylists, or saving a few bucks with a trainee.  And its always a decadent treat to get your hair washed there...i swear the washers have magic fingers, and give you a short shoulder massage to boot.  I'd go there for that alone.

Only drawback, by the time im done, it seems like i need to tip about 6 people, and while i dont mind spending the money, i hate the ritual of finding and tipping everyone from the coat check person to the hair washer/massager, hair cutter, hair cutters assistant and the blow out person.  A little much.

Oh and I love their products.  Great shampoos and conditioners.

The salon was great, the outcome was not.

My girlfriend got her highlights done here and they were so gorgeous I didn't wait long to book my appt with stacy.

when i got there, i told her the only thing i cared about was that i wanted highlights that were on the cool side of the spectrum, not brassy or gold. otherwise, she had free reign.

she explained that she wanted to paint them in instead of using foils because this technique made it look more natural. what do i know about this? it sounded good to me.

at least it sounded good until she spun me around my chair and showed me my new golden locks. the technique was great, but the color was pure brass with a capital B.

i asked her what happened, why did she choose warm golds instead of the cool tones I had asked for. here's what she said:

i can't do the painting technique with cool tones. i would have had to use foils.

i was shocked. she blatantly ignored my only request in order to try out her new technique. i found out later that she's a teacher for their salon and had been wanting to use this technique on her clients since she just taught it in her classes.

when i asked her if she could fix it, she said she didn't know how, but attempted to anyway. i left looking like an albino. it was horrible.

Ok, so usually I go to Devachan in Soho to get my hair cut, but my hair was looking super sad one day and I just decided to go to some place that was more convenient for me. I work on Lex and 57th, so B&B is only a block away, as opposed to Devachan all the way down in Soho.

I asked for someone that was good with curly hair and the receptionist scheduled me for the next day at 1pm with Spencer. I arrived and Spencer took the time to listen to what I wanted, and explained what he would do to help me achieve the look I wanted.

I have to say the shampoo part was my least favorite of the experience. Devachan has these huge chairs that recline all the way so that your head is actually in the sink, not perched on the side hurting your neck and the back of your cranium. Then they proceed to give you a 5 minute scalp massage which is pure bliss. I can't say the same for the shampoo girl at B&B. She was chatting with her neighboring colleague and just generally being rough with my hair and getting water all in my ears. Not the usual blissful experience I'm used to when getting my hair done.

But enough about that! Spencer used a razor to shape my curly locks into a shapely layered cut that looked fabulous and was exactly what I wanted. It was the first time that someone not only listed to what I wanted but also executed it to perfection. I walked out of the salon feeling like a new girl.

Loved Spencer and would highly recommend him to girls with curly hair or just just anyone looking for a fantastic hair cut! YAY for Spencer!

I received a free apprentice haircut here around a month ago...I withheld my review until I saw how my cut grew out...

Johnny was great.  He went out of his way to accommodate me, even though I didn't quite fit the parameters of what he needed for his specific look-assignment.  Regardless, he was polite and personable, and did a fantastic job.  It takes a special talent to cut short female hair without the result being harsh and Johnny has it (all scissors, no clippers).  Further, the shampoo/scalp massage was the best I've ever had.  A month later my hair still looks great and I haven't noticed any weird pieces sticking out, nor do the back or sides look sloppy.  Excellent work!

The floor is set up so that you're surrounded by other clients and stylists, in order for the senior stylists to easily supervise.  It's a little weird and chaotic but I found it fun...people-watching and eavesdropping at its finest (just keep your head still).

Overall, a nice haircut for those of us on a budget.  Johnny gets my recommendation without any reservations.

oh bumble and bumble, how you have saved me!

as many nyc newbies do, i used to wait to get haircuts from my old stylist back home in north carolina, because i was too scared to see a new one here. but now, after seeing beth, i will no longer have to commute for haircuts :) i felt kind of bad after explaining my many requirements for my hair and all she had to say is "don't worry, ill hook you up." and that, she did. she cut my hair EXACTLY the way i wanted (60s-style layers) and went as far to style my hair a bit for an event i had that night! she even gave me extra pins :) not that big of a deal, but still made me smile :)

i definitely recommend b&b- great products, free bang trims, and if you tell the receptionist what kind of hair/look u want while making an appointment, they will make sure to put you with the right stylist. plus, the cookies are yummy.

I'm a guy with short hair, so any haircut more than $30 counts as a splurge. I decided to go to Bumble & bumble because I wanted to indulge myself with a really fantastic haircut. I got an appointment the same day I called with Elle. When I showed up I was sent through the coat check and hair wash process, which was fine, then waited in my chair while my stylist finished up with another guy she had squeezed in for a trim. Elle was very warm and friendly, but when I started to tell her what I wanted she pretty much talked over me, assuring me that she'd "add texture and clean it up"- which sounded like a suspiciously standard line to me.

And indeed, I ended up with a very standard unremarkable haircut that looked like one I could've gotten on a lucky day at one of those $13 places in Chelsea. I was bummed, and when I tried to salvage it with a couple requests, I felt like my stylist (who again was a total sweetheart) was kind of rushing me through. She had already smeared some product in my hair and jumped over to an adjoining chair to greet another client while I was assessing what she'd done so far, hoping it could be saved.

It couldn't. A hundred bucks later, I guess I learned the lesson that the salon itself isn't as important as the stylist. I left feeling stupid for having been rushed through a subpar experience.

I'm not typically a huge fan of the salon-en-masse setup... rows of stations in a big open room where I cannot help but stare at the person opposite me as they sit in wet-haired vulnerability.  That is the only thing I can complain about, here, though.

Naturally, this was an apprentice cut.  Hells-to-the-no do I ever pay full price in this city for grooming services.  To my mind, it's like spending $1,000 on a designer breed pet when you can go to the shelter and get an even better one for a modest fee and a little more looking around.  There are so many salon apprentices out there who need your love and hours in the chair.

Especially this one:  Johnny at B&B rocked my socks off.  Not only was he terrifically friendly and cool, but the pixie cut he gave me was gamine-tastic and not the least bit boyish, which is my main fear in these situations.  He even went out of his way to hook me up with an apprentice colorist for next week.  Oh PLUS did I mention the shampoo stations are all installed with massage chairs?? Aaaah.

All this for just the cost of a tip.  If anyone craves the familiarity of the Bumble name, but is not wild about being herded into one of their BBU classes in the meat-packing district, the uptown salon is simply perfect.

This is one of the places that I went to when I cheated on my stylist.  I am not going to say who my stylist was here at bumble because this person is crazy and a freaking idiot but her skill wise - pretty darn good.

She gave me exactly what I asked for and not to mention BIG, VOLUMINOUS HAIR.  Hell I am from Texas and yes, everything is big in Texas, so my hair got to be big as well!
The stylist that I cheated on never would do this cut for me.  I have always wanted to get super duper short choppy bangs.  I wasn't trying to channel Bettie Page - since like I said it's choppy not smooth.

Anyways, I left there loving my cut, but I wouldn't go back to her because she's not right in the head.  I wouldn't be able to listen to her or her idiotic notions just for a good haircut.

I just couldn't stand my conversations with her.  She was telling me about her boyfriend. She said he was her doctor and she pursued him and after ONLY dating him a week.  He said he would get her whatever she wanted. She took this literal and asked him for Harry Winston's diamond earrings.

She was complaining to me that she still hasn't received them and it's been TWO WHOLE WEEKS now, which totals a big whooping THREE WEEKS.

She asked me if she should confront him about this matter.  She's like don't you think he is totally rude for not keeping his word.  I, totally am being sarcastic...told her Yes!  I didn't think she would take me seriously but she started ranting on about how he shouldn't offer that to her if he wasn't going to keep his word.

Seriously, is she kidding me?

P.S  I also think they should hire new shampooers - not too friendly

P.S.S  Love the products though!!!!!

PLEASE NOTE THE ONLY REASON WHY  THE STYLIST WAS ABLE TO ACHIEVE THE VOLUME THAT I WANTED IS BECAUSE SHE USES A LOAD OF PRODUCTS ON MY HAIR.  (i.e Thickening Spray, & Tonic!)
If you walk out with amazing hair, you have to make sure you get the products that they put on you as well.

Though Bumble and Bumble has become part of a huge corporation, it still has a very 'boutique-y' feel and atmosphere, and most of the great stylists have stayed on.

Bumble was the 2nd salon I visited since moving to the city, and can say it's my favorite salon in my 30 years. Marc Anthony is a master at what he does and is one of the most laid back guys in the business, he makes my hair do amazing things!

Aura, hair colorist on the second floor, is also a magician with her craft. She has a great sense about you are wanting and never pushes you into anything, and the outcome is magical. Kate, another stylist, is also so talented and is so quick you'll be out of there in 15 minutes!

I also recommend the 'free cuts' as well, as I have a friend who has been going for years and always looks amazing. Well worth the price, you won't be disappointed.

Too crowded, too snotty and over hyped.  A bit passe nowadays - but great products and if you get one of their star (and impossible to book if you ain't a regular) stylists, you can have a 5 star service here.

Sadly, I never have - and I went here twice.  The first in 1996 with Michael who I'd be willing to bet is long gone and again in 2002 with a girl I just CAN NOT remember.

Been there - done that.  I'll get my thickening line products from an illegal diverter on ebay and go see my regular guy for cuts & colors.  B&B has great  and cutting edge product lines.

I live in San Francisco, have a regular stylist in Los Gatos (southbay) and cheat on him with Marc Anthony at B&B in NYC. What can I say? Need haircut, will travel! ;)

With regards to B&B, I've gone to MA for several years now -- everytime I'm in NYC (that's about once a year). He makes my hair look as shiny and healthy like when i was in my early 20s!!!

shhh, don't tell my regular hair stylist. ;)

B&B is awesome. I am a former Aveda fanatic converted to B&B. In the past I would need to use 3+ products to achieve the style I desired. Now, I simply use the Thickening spray and voliah my hair blowdries just about perfect (without straightening it) ... The store is great and the employees are very knowledgable and helpful. I stop in sometimes just to browse new products. Haven't gotten a hair cut here but they now do stylings for people on the go! Very exciting:) 5 stars to you B&B!

Bumble & Bumble's okay.

THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON FIRST IMPRESSIONS AND THE PARTICULAR STYLIST I HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH.

I am pretty particular about the way I get my haircut. I'm one to stop the stylist in the middle of the haircut to ask, "What are you doing...?", if it doesn't look like it's going in the direction it should be.

No one recommended I visit this salon, but I like Bumble and Bumble's products, so I thought I'd try out their stylists. I knew I was going to be in town so I scheduled an appointment about a week in advance. I called for an appointment and made it a point to ask for a senior stylist. I got an appointment with a woman that had been, according to the receptionist at B&B, styling for 10 years.

The cafe service, hair washing and coat check service were fine. My real issue was with the the haircut itself. I have hair that can be difficult to work with, so whenever I see someone new, I always let them know what typical problems I usually have with haircuts because of my hair type so that I get what I want. With that little spiel out of the way, I gave her in depth instructions on what kind of haircut I wanted... I'll leave it at that...

Needless to say... I didn't get what I wanted. The haircut wasn't awful -- it just wasn't what I had asked for. I had stopped her in the middle of the cut so that I could reiterate precisely what I wanted, but it didn't really seem to faze her. Fabulous... I know.

I wasn't thrilled with that specific stylist (whose name I can't remember... Sorry!). Love their products. I don't know what the etiquette is with salons. Are you allowed to see one stylist, decide you'd rather not see them again and book an appointment with the stylist one seat over? Who knows.

I've had some good cuts here. The color is another story.

I have graying hair, and when I asked for it to be camouflaged, I was encouraged to get "highlights." Little did I know that highlights are MUCH more expensive than other procedures. What's worse is that the "highlights" I got were actually LOWLIGHTS that made my hair darker and  made the gray MORE obvious! I didn't notice these results at first because I was given a "gloss" which covered the gray and also brightened the "highlights"! When the gloss faded, the gray was more noticeable, and my hair overall looked dull and not at all like the dark blonde hair I naturally have. I believe I was encouraged to get the inappropriate "highlighting" because it cost more money than the procedure I should have gotten. p.s. The colorist was named "Aura."

I get a discount through work at Bumble and Bumble, so I know a fair number of people that get their hair cut there. A coworker recommended Joey, and I'm so glad I took her advice. I wanted to get bangs but was unsure about what kind/how they would look. Joey talked me through what she thought was best and I'm so happy with the outcome. It's been two months since the initial cut and it still looks great, although I have gone in for a free bang trimming since.

I'm dying to try the products at home, but they're pretty expensive.

I have never been more pleased with a color job than after my appointment at B&B.  However, my colorist was rude, snotty and bragged about how fast she could do my hair -- honey, at that price, I don't want fast, I want GOOD and ATTENTIVE.

I felt the urge to tell the reception staff that they were not God's gift to the consumer and to tone the attitude down.  It is just a salon after all.

I have never had my hair cut there because it seems that everyone who walks out looks the same.

I think I have found better hair care for less money at other salons.

Their products (esp. for curly hair) are FANTASTIC and available on the first floor.

A co-worker with great hair told me she gets her hair done here.  I call and get an appointment with anyone.  I don't care!  I just want someone good!  I get better than that.  I get David.  David gives me the best hair cut I have EVER had in my life.  I am not a gal who is used to getting compliments on my hair and it was ridiculous!  Left and right, people were commenting on how good my hair looked.  It's been 3 months and it grew out pretty well, but I'm desperate to get it cut again.  I have an appointment on Saturday with David again and I can't wait to tell him the response his cut got.  I hope he can make magic again.

I started going to Bumble back in 1997. I have been through 2 long term stylist as well as a few fill ins. Back in the 90's, I would have rated this salon at 4.5 out of 5 stars: It was hip, forward thinking, and motivated - and the stylists reflected this. The editorial work of Bumble staff is what initially drove me to take a 1 hour drive from CT and it was well worth it. Once it was bought out, Bumble became a bit too corporate; as a result, a lot of the spirit left the salon. My long time stylist left the salon after almost 10 years of work with Bumble due to the changes.

I now find Bumble to be a bit generic. Their education is still top notch, as all of the stylists are well trained and I love their products. For the money, I would much rather go to another salon with equally skilled stylists that work to produce a look not a paycheck.

I was unsure at first to try out a volunteer hairmodel haircut but I was really surprised at how great the experience was in Chicago. So when I was going to be in New York for a few days I dedcied that I wanted to get my haircut while I was there. I started researching salons  and I was always interested in Bumble and Bumble products, so I thought why not do the same thing I do in Chicago and be a hairmodel. I really didn't have a choice on what haircut I received but it turned out to fit me and my face! If you have extra time on your hands and an open mind you can really get a great service for free! I found out about the salon and their weekly classes where they need models from a great website http://www.SalonAppren....
If you do volunteer to be a hairmodel and the service is free you should still tip your stylist.
I would go back to the salon as a paying client!

This is the place where I got my first and thus far only model cut. They were looking for hair types suitable for razor cuts, and I was in desperate need for change and little money to spare.

"layers, texture, and sexy bangs!" my stylist told me, dropping her scissors a couple of times during the cut while i cringed at the possibility of getting a piece of my ear sliced off.

in the end, my head looked twice as big as when i came in and i had to pose for a polaroid before i could run out of the salon and quickly into nearby bloomingdales to smooth my hair down in the women's lounge.

i went to a different salon to get my hair cut after it had grown out, and she told me a chunk of my hair was missing in the back center of my head...

seriously scared of model cuts!

My sister had been getting her hair cut here for years before she finalllly convinced me to try it. So she booked a double appointment for the two of us in November 2002; she with her stylist and me with Mark Anthony.  I lost count of how many times I have come back.  I love this place. M.A. does wonders with my unruly curly hair.  Every time I see him I leave smiling ear to ear!

I love their tonic spray it gets my tangles out ASAP.  I also like the de-frizz serum to control the frizz factor.

I'm a professional model who has been colored, cut, styled, and blown-out by thousands (ok maybe hundreds is more accurate) of hair stylists and no one even comes close to the amazing caliber of blow-outs and straight edge razor cuts that Bumble trained stylists do! I've found from personal experience that all Bumble & Bumble stylists do the absolute BEST blowouts! Once, when I was raving to Giovanna (my stylist) how Bumble trained stylists seem to do the best blowouts across the board- even when I've had my hair done by stylists not only at a Bumble salon but rather whom have been trained at Bumble but ventured elsewhere to work... Giovanna happen to mention that the Bumble blowout "course" is a mandatory of a minimum of 6 months! OMG! 6 months training on blowouts alone?! No wonder Bumble & Bumble has perfected the rare art of the perfect blowout! :)
Although I've been going to Giovanna (at their 56th St. salon) for every red carpet event, premiere, charity event, party, etc. that I attend and she ALWAYS makes me look and feel amazing! I never have to worry about the outcome when I book with her- my hair always turns out flawless!
BUT... what I don't enjoy is when I USE to get my highlights done at Bumble- they do all the colour on the 2nd floor. So, if you are booked for a haircut, blowout or any service on the ground level, you will have to go up and down w/ a wet head and soaking hair dripping all over you. But, that's none my concern since I'm fortunate to have found Kim Vo in Bev Hills who is the Best Colorist in the world- I kid you not! Best is not an exaggeration, nor is the "in the whole world" part either! If you travel bi-coastal as I do, you will be EXTREMELY happy and will never have the need to search for a new hairstylist or colorist ever again after you see Giovanna at Bumble & Bumble and Kim Vo at B2V!
I love Bumble styling products (B&B hair powder is a treasure if you don't wash your hair every day-like me!:) or, if you just want that 2nd day after washing your hair feel- which we all know is always easier to work with a day or s after being washed! :) Their styling prods. are by far some of the best, and most widely used throughout the fashion industry! I promise you these blowouts are to die for if you are obsessed with smooth, shiny, glossy hair- like I am! :) They all seem to know exactly how to do the perfect blowout whether I want big, full, "Victoria's Secret" hair without having the need to use a curling iron to bum up the body- nope round brushes only here! Or sleek, pin-straight tresses without need to use the flat iron! And super shiny, healthy, flawless hair every time! Bumble is THE place if you want a "go to" place where you can always count on walking out happy and looking extra gorgeous! And... expect a plethora of compliments and "Who does your hair?" from friends and total strangers! :) You will always look and feel absolutely amazing with a blowout and/or razor cut from a Bumble & Bumble stylist!

I grew up on a farm near a small town in Central Pennsylvania, and all my life, I wanted to go to a salon that cut my hair perfectly for my face and style. I found my haven and home at Bumble nearly seven years ago. In the beginning, I was a hair model for Marc Berardi, and then as I made more money, and as Marc progressed, both within the company and as a stylist, I simply joined the regular patron and ponied up the cash. It's worth it.

Marc graduated from being a Junior stylist and is now one of the educators. He is hip, but incredibly humble--he brags about his wife and young son.  He is diverse, charismatic, fun, kind, patient, and simply brilliant with what he does.  It is rare to meet someone so down to earth at such a seemingly snooty place.

True, Bumble is mainly for straight, "Plain Jane" white folks hair, but for what they do, they do it well. And also many folks walk out looking the same because that's what they request. If you want something edgy, ask for it, and folks like Marc will applaud and feel liberated that he can get a break from the norm. He likes hair to look like it naturally desires, ie embrace what feels and is you.

During periods when I wanted to grow out my hair, I could effortlessly stay away from the salon for several months, and my hair would still be healthy and happy. A few times, he was rushed and I was not 100% happy, but going back and having it fixed was effortless and the finished product was just as perfect as I have come to expect it to be.

A couple of months ago I wanted to do yet another change---go from the long layers, to something short and playful. I called him up and hopped into one of his training classes. Jordan, who mostly cuts downtown, gave me the best look I have possibly ever had. My hair is playful, funky, functional, and fun and my friends and co-workers have been raving.

Two weeks ago I went back to have it cut again and colored. Liz is the color educator and has been coloring hair for forever. She is equally incredible---my new blonde highlights are funky, but look natural and healthy. It was just in time for a family wedding, I couldn't be happier.

I have loved and used the products for years and think their new damage therapy line is tops. Prep is a must as well, though I wish I could buy it in a bulk size!!

Update on 12/17/2006: This week, I went back to a quick consultation with Marc and Liz about my hair. It is considerably grown out after nearly 2 1/2 months, and I have been torn about what to do with it. You see, it's amazing how good it looks, even with roots over an inch long. Marc and I agreed that I should just use a little more product to coax the natural wave to come out more and let it ride until January. I consider how well a cut grows out to be thet true test to determine whether it's a good cut, or an incredible cut.

This salon has the best haircuts in NYC and has spurned trendy, chic salons all over the country. I decided to take the giant leap into the $100-a-cut price range because their spinoff salons are so good, I knew that the real deal had to be amazing.  i wasn't disapointed.

Sure everyone is super trendy and at first present a real hipster, hipper-than-thou attitiude but everyone from the front desk to the coat check girl and the haitians who wash your hair are super nice.

Their signature razor cuts give you an edgy style that easily transitions from work to going out. The stylists listen to what you want and give you the cut that you saw in vogue -because they are the ones who cut that models hair.  This place rocks.

Yeah... I went here last Spring because I recognized the name.  I gave the stylist carte blanche in cutting my long hair (except for shaving my head, that is) and you know what I got for $95.?  Something very similar to a mullet.  Yeah...

Purely by coincidence, my friend's salon at OSH uses the same exact shampoo and conditioner I use: Alojoba.  Shampoo is 55 and the Conditioner is 57. The 1.8oz jar of Sumo Wax is 23. I'm so glad this place is near my job!

Not impressed with this place, especially the outcome.

They have all the right elements to be a great salon: premier location, nice space, friendly staff...etc, but what is up with my stylist and haircut?  As this was my first visit, I like to see how things would go by trying a simple haircut. I have thick hair so what I usually do is to advice the person to take out the volume as much as he/she can. The stylist was impatient when I told her to do so,  she was rushing through (to get to her next appointment?) and just wanted me to leave her chair.

It is unfair to judge a place by only one visit especially they have many stylists on site. I am thinking to go back and do some color, if they assign me to someone sucks, again, for the price I paid, I will not go back.  The hair cut I got is not worth it.

Lisa is an amazing genius (I think her speciality is bangs, too). Cuts here range from $90-200+ and she charges around the lower end

After my cut, I have to say that I was kind of freaked out because I have never had bangs or long hair before so I kept asking Lisa to adjust my haircut. She refused to do so because she said she was quite sure my hair would look awful if she changed it. I left a little miffed but now I have to admit that she was right. My hair looks awesome in a way that it never has before! It's actually glamourous, sleek, and sexy....and the cut compliments my face

Ooh, one more thing. When you get your hair washed, the woman who does it gives you a mini-massage after she finishes conditioning. It was a really nice surprise.....

Too bad I live in DC, I wonder if there is any way I can justify taking the train up to NYC everytime I want to get my hair cut.....I don't think I can go anywhere else anymore.....(Shoutout to Bumble and Bumble: Come to DC!)
The BB tonic lotion is amazing; it makes hair sleek and shiny. The BB grooming creme sucks (or perhaps I don't know how to use it)
