I heart the Bull & Bush. Their beers are amazing. The Man Beer is a must!
I went for brunch on Sunday during the Broncos game. It was packed but the got a table for 7 off us within 10 minutes which I thought was amazing. As far as brunch goes, here's my breakdown:
The Good:
- Drink specials ($3.25 mimosas, $1 off beers, $4 bloody's)
- the Bloody's were delicious
- Food options were pretty typical brunch fair
- hash browns are amazing (probably a stick of butter in them :) )
- the Ice Cream Clone Stout was amazing - my favorite beer
- Great service - the place was packed but Megan still came by countless times to fill our waters. She also didn't mind that we weren't ordering drinks at the same time.
- For 7 of us with food and four (or five) drinks the bill was only $131, which seemed really reasonable
The bad:
- The tvs in the back are a little small. They were showing 2 games on four tvs and it was a bit hard to see the broncos game
The ugly:
- The Ice Cream Clone Stout is a limited-time beer (what will I do when it's gone)
I had heard of this place for years, but my brother got me going. He loves the food there. It's a great place for food and a beer. The beer is really cold and good. I'm not usually big on this type of food but it's good for what it is. What I love is the atmosphere and the beer and I'm not even that big on going out to drink. If there was a place that could get me into the habit this is it.
Example: going there during the Rockies' playoff game was really fun. You could watch the game, talk, eat, and drink beer. Perfect atmosphere, food and beverage.
Great Beers to choose from.
EXcellent Scotch Selection.
The Ribs I had were dry but I was mostly there to indulge.
Service - always mediocre.
Food - sometimes good, sometimes, eh..
Beer - always delicious.
I like the Hefeweizen.
Holy cow, I hope my doctor doesn't read these reviews.
Speaking of cows, the horseradish bacon cheeseburger was probably one of the best burgers I have ever, ever had. So juicy that one bite and I ruined my perfectly clean shirt. I guess that is why they invented "Shout".
I am usually the steak and apple salad girl, which is off the charts good. Really, try it, you will send me a thank you note.
They brew their own beer. Sweet, holy beer.
Service is always good. Tons of TVs so you can get your ballgame on.
Check it out - like any self respecting Cathedral *this one to beer and food* there is a gift shop where you can buy a relic of your journey to sacred ground. Oh, be sure to grab a poster for .50 on your way out!
The Good: They brew their own beer. It is always fresh, and all of their house brews are great. A pet peeve of mine is any micro or house brewed "ale" that only gets its taste by being hopped to the gills. Bull and Bush's ales...actually taste like ales, not some Dogfish Head attempt to show off an ingredient list.
The atmosphere is generally pretty good. It isn't truly a pub, but it is a lot fun nonetheless. Their dedicated dart room is a blast, and the TVs in the main room aren't necessarily authentic, but they make the bar more fun.
They sell growlers to take home.
The "Meh":
The service is adequate. The waitresses are friendly, and they always let you know when you should order your last round before happy hour or a special ends. But it is sometimes difficult to get their attention, especially when closing out a tab.
The Bad:
I moved to Denver from New York, so I'm spoiled by having real public transportation. Bull and Bush is kind of out of the way. The upside is that the place does not get overrun. The downside is that you really need a designated driver or a through knowledge of the RTD bus system.
i love a good pub. Love the food, love the beer, love the atmosphere. This place would merit the coveted 5 star rating if only the atmosphere were a little more genuine. That's OK though, because this place is very good nonetheless. I mean, really, what do you expect from a pub in suburban Denver? It aint the Yorkshire Dales, my boy.
We found this place at random, via a rental car's GPS (note: give Hertz a star ...), and we were not disappointed. The outside is fun, and very traditional pub style with the exposed beams, etc. We sat outside on the patio, and it was lovely. The weather was nice, and our waitress arrived promptly. She was very good about explaining what beer was available, and she accommodated all my beer geek questions (IBUs, a small sample, etc.).
The food was delicious. I had a Prince Charles burger, which was complimented very well by my Pale Ale. I mean, any place that brews their own beer and serves good food is getting a + in my book.
Definitely an area favorite; B&B is always buzzing and pleasantly upbeat. The food is better than one would expect and the beer is always cold and well priced. Great place for an old school "Friday Afternoon Club".
Good food. Awful service.
At first the hostess was accommodating when we asked to switch from the inside to the patio. Once we got seated, it was near to impossible to get the waitress' attention to order our appetizer. We got the potato skins which were good... But after that, it was so hard to get her attention for more than two seconds to take our order. When I asked one question, she answered while walking away and so I could not ask another.
Once we finally got our food, it was all good and standard... I got the Chipotle Shrimp Tacos and overall enjoyed it. The rice it came with was really not good but the black beans were, as well as the shrimp itself. I had some of my brother's fish and chips, the fries were not good but the fish was nicely breaded (and the tartar sauce that accompanied it was good too).
Overall, I left feeling very full. It was a good, easy place to go after work with a big group. I'd be tempted to go back in the winter for Shepard's Pie but other than that, my taste buds aren't itching for more.
My friend and I stumbled upon this local gem last year while Xmas shopping at nearby Cherry Creek Mall. What a find! A quaint little Tudor-style pub stuck in amongst a cold, unfeeling office park, you feel warm inside just stepping in. The service is thoughtful and efficient and it's pretty easy to meet folks here. In the winter, they've usually got a roaring fire going and football on the screen. Their homemade beers are delicious and their Green Chili Mashed Potatoes will warm even the coldest gut. You may have to park on some side streets but that's the only hassle. They've got couches, tables and a long bar - whatever you want.
Local microbrewery in Denver? I bet there are a couple of them in beer country. The beer was pretty tasty, they have a late happy hour which is always appreciated but since I was visiting Denver for work I didn't know there kitchen closes way earlier than the bar so when I got there hungry all I can get was beer. Please update your website so I don't have to resort to a liquid dinner when I am in town again. But otherwise the motif of this place was very traditional bar without the accent.
What a disappointment. We stopped in for dinner a few nights ago ready to enjoy our last Bull & Bush experience before our move. Unfortunately, it was probably the worst experience we've ever had there.
The Superb: The beer. The Man Beer was awesome, like always. I can't get over how much I like the darkness of this place. It really reminds me of a back street pub in London.
The Average: The guac was passable, but barely. Not nearly as good as the last time we had been here. Perhaps it was a day or two old? Either way, average at best.
The Horrid: My burger. I know. How sad! I've often craved the burgers from B&B, but not anymore. I asked for my "Bull Burger" (the one with Jalapeno Cream cheese and Bacon... BOO YEAH!) medium. What arrived to my plate was more of a hockey puck. It was cooked WELL DONE, had charred bacon on it, and literally like an INCH of cream cheese spread. Horrible. The saving grace was the bun.
It was unfortunate that our last experience here leaves me with such a bitter (and char-flavored) taste in my mouth. Bull & Bush, I will miss your beer and ambiance, but I will probably never be back.

When it comes to sports bars/brew pub combinations, this place is AWESOME! The food? Stellar… Read more »
First off I must admit I like the Bull and Bush because the sign out front says, "Established in 1971", which is the same year I was established so I feel a certain comradeship! Secondly, the fact that I can go there for a nice, cozy, wintertime lunch with my 75 year old mom, brunch with my 9 and 11 yr.old daughters or out to party with friends and be totally satisfied each time kicks butt.
The Hollandaise sauce here is the best ever...EVER! Any type of Benedict is sure to please. The cure is also very good and really can help one to get back in the swing of things! The chicken fried anything is huge and will cause one to need a nap. My youngest daughter inhales the breakfast burrito without batting an eye. The mimosas are really enjoyable as well!
Fish and chips are a must try too. Not to mention the beer and fun mini-shop they have with all sorts of fun stuff to purchase. It is an easy and worthwhile place to spend your time.
The Bull & Bush really has the feel of an "institution" - the kind of place that's been around for awhile, hasn't changed much and has been a refuge for generations of bored people who are unfortunate enough to live or work in Glendale.
The beer is really good here, particularly The Tower ESB, which puts all other local ESBs to shame, in my opinion.
As I discovered last night, the happy hour is extremely popular, like, you have to park your car down the street several blocks popular. My co-workers and I were still able to squeeze in to a booth and enjoy a few very well-priced beers.
Food is somewhat unremarkable pub/grill fare, but it is consistently tasty. Get the fish and chips if you want to stick to the authentic British pub vibe - it's really good. Anything with the stout barbecue sauce is also a winner.
This place should be a standby for anyone who lives or works east of Colorado and doesn't want to go downtown, but it's actually worth going out of your way to check out even if you live on the other side of town.
FULL DISCLOSURE: this is my after-work Happy Hour-with-the-Coworkers -- well, the *good* ones, amirite, amirite? -- bar.
fabulous in winter: warm, welcoming, and cavelike. fireplaces kept roaring. you could easily imagine yourself in tudor times, if the people around you people wore ballcaps and t-shirts in tudor times.
the patio leaks alarmingly when it precipitates, probably because it's a cheap add-on structure.
good bar-mexican food. unpretentious, plentiful, tasty, and speedily served. reasonably priced, too.
try the microbrews.
I love this place. I have been coming here for years. The beers are great, try the Big Ben Brown, it is my favorite. The food is great - fish and chips to die for. I have yet to have anything here that I didn't like. The atmosphere is comfortable, not stuffy. The only thing negative I can say is take out some of the TVs, this place doesn't need them.
I recommend anyone that comes to Denver to give this place a try
All the food is great here. Love the dark lighting and somewhat mellow atmosphere. We Go here often.
My husband is always telling me that I give stars on here too freely, but tonight I realized why... it's because I usually eat at good places!
In the Bull & Bush's defense, their beer is great and tables are easy to get because there is lots of room. I have been to several happy hours here and have enjoyed each of them.
In general though tonight was a pretty bad experience. The hostess seated us on the patio (which is kinda cold by the windows) when there were PLENTY of places inside. We did ask to be moved though, and our server was very accommodating.
The real reason for the one star though is the food... six people ordered burgers medium to medium rare, and six people got burgers medium well... no pink at all and very dry. My husband sent his back, reiterated the medium rare, and was served another dry well done burger.
Another disappointment was the onion rings... they are not onion rings they are onion strings and I wish we would have been told this.
Their menu looks great, in the end it's just not well executed. Go for the beer and you'll be fine but just don't expect much out of the food.
Tried the Fish and Chips for lunch and well I thought about giving two stars this time as the fries were them skinny McDonald's looking things instead of proper thick cut chips like all the other Brit/Irish pubs serve up. The fish came in three pieces and at first I was thinking oh no, more preformed frozen crap but it wasn't. I am not sure if they just buy tiny fish or if they cut up the filet's but anyhow it was nicely cooked, flaky with a crispy batter. I usually don't like tartar sauce but theirs is made with beer and gave it a distinctive taste that I enjoyed.
I do have to mention the vinegar bottle tho. It has a spout that you have to flip up, kinda like some cheap shampoo bottle, and well it just looked nasty like it hadn't been cleaned since they opened in 1971. Hopefully the vinegar killed any germs that were on that top :o|
Our waiter was friendly, fast and efficient and I still love the decor.

so another Brit pub chalked off my list and this time I took a date. Figured if she didn't find me… Read more »
This place is always pretty steady. There are always cars in the lot. They have lots of big flat screen tvs. I especially like them because they are less than a block from my house ^_^
Yum Yum Yum they have good beer. If you like amber ale, get theirs. It's great.
Good food for a bar. Lots of choices and hilarious wait staff.
Oh, and there are lots of other things to drink if you don't like beer. Also, you can take the beer home!
I loved the chicken fried steak. It was huge and had a great crunchy breading. Both the gravy and green chili were awesome too. Great beer selection and I enjoyed the Hefewviesen. The shepards pie was good too. The fries were the thin crunchy ones. Yum!! Yum!!!
Good pub food, tasty beer, and a great whiskey and scotch selection.
My favorite is probably the Kobe beef burger with bbq sauce. Fish and Chips are decent - not great though, and don't get it on a all-you-can-eat Fish night. Most of the other stuff I've tried is more or less tolerable. Their seasonal Kriek beer was amazing, and generally they have decent brews. Some good scotches too, though they aren't cheap here and they don't pour a whole lot.
Great pub and cozy atmosphere. It's a good place to grab a brew and some good bar grub in a warm inviting place like this. They brew their own beer and it is delicious. I ordered the Man Beer and giggled every time I ordered it. Funny name and it's a great pale ale!
It's kind of tucked away on S Cherry Creek Dr but if you're ever in the Glendale area it's definitely worth it to stop by.
Note to self: All you can eat fish and chips is not a good idea.
I went for three plates. I started to bleed tartar sauce out of my ears. Now, I am not saying that it wasn't delicious. It just hurt. It hurt like a kick in the nuts by Miss Piggy. And by this I mean it was hilarious because Miss Piggy has that Hi Ya thing she does so I laugh, but it isn't completely enjoyable because my boys still just got kicked by a 3 foot muppet pig. I hope you can all understand what I mean.
Sooooo enough with muppets and on with the review. I do like this place. The food is good and the beer is drunkable. The only thing that confuses me is the need for 200 TVs. I am easily distracted and seizurable and this did both to me. But after the convulsing, I really had a good time.
THE DUNGEON IS BECKONING. Do you like dark and dank, and loud even? Then this is just the place! Are you carnivorous, and a beer guzzler? Yeah? This is where your gonna get your gut on! Don't bring a friend, don't bring a date, you won't see them anyway, it's way too dark here for friends. You can't even see the wait staff. Well in all fairness that's only because they're always horribly understaffed, and the waitress assigned to you doesn't give a shit.
They have the rudest wait staff on the planet. Is that part of the Irish culture? All the Irish people I've met outside of B&B are so friendly, what gives?
Oh they have a great big covered patio, would you like to sit there?
No! No you can't! That's reserved for the large party that's coming in right after you leave.
You'd like some food but you're not into a side of dead carcass? Fish and chips it is then, with a healthy slathering of lard please. That's just how I like it, so greasy you can only taste the lard, who likes the flavor if fish and potatoes anyway?
You'd like something to drink? We have 40 different beers. You don't drink beer? How rude! You leave now! How'd you get in here!?
I really like this place. Imagine walking into what looks like an English Cottage and suddenly being in the belly of an 1800's British whaling ship. I love the decor and you can honestly tell this place hasn't been touched since the 1970's. The beer, alcohol (hello whiskey!) and food choices are good. I don't like their fish and chips though. They tasted reheated and stale and greasy. Their burgers and sandwiches are delicious though! The gift shop made me laugh!
Went here because I was visiting my sister and B&B was playing the Steeler game on HD.
Very impressed by the menu. Sad that I don't live in Denver because there were many things I wanted to try. Got the horseradish burger with mashed potatoes topped with green chili! Awesome!
Sadly the fryer was not working that day (!!!) but all was good. My sister's bf got the shepard's pie. Rockin'.
Many TVs with many games going.
I'll be back the next time I visit.
I will be back to the Bull and Bush! This was the starting point for our pub crawl on Saturday so we spent about an hour and a half in there. I enjoyed the atmosphere, perfect for a kick back bar night. I noticed there are leather sofas for the camping type... First Impressions last!
The wait staff was quick and friendly. I didn't have any food but I tried a couple of different beers and was pleasantly surprised. I recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a laid back evening..
Bull and Bush would have received 5-stars but there wasn't anything in the bar to keep me entertained... live music is always a plus but then again, I was there pretty early.
Trying to find a place close by and open late for Project Angel Heart night and ended up at Bull & Bush. Drove by a couple of times and looked busy and interesting enough but never did stop by so figured this would be a good chance to do so.
Once arrived, I'm immediately charmed by the look of the bar... we picked a booth on the right and loved the idea of having metal bar separation between the booths... sports games are on on all the TVs and there's no loud music which is definitely a plus at a bar...
We first ordered the beer, I had a hef and my bf had their coffee beer (forgot the name). I'm not a big beer drinker but that has got to be one of the best hef I've had...
Next up is the food... prizes were reasonable and portions are generous... quality is good... and I especially love that a lot of their sauces are homemade, even their blue cheese... about $9 for their shepherd's pie and that's more food than I can finish... 3 beers, 1 app, and 2 entree later, the bill comes out to about $50... not bad considering not only did we stuffed ourselves stupid, but have enough leftover for the both of us...
This is definitely a new favorite hangout place for us... nice attentive staff, diverse customers, nice setting, great food, awesome beer, open late kitchen... what else could I ask for?!
A super fun, casual place to hang out and have a beer. I really liked the selection, and that you can see the brew tanks through a window in the back room.
We also had a great dinner -- I had the French Dip sandwich, which was really excellent, and my friend had very good fish and chips. I also liked that my salad came with crispy shoestring onions and the dressing on the side.
This place is full of surprises. You go in expecting nothing but a pub. What you get is so much more. My beer snob friends tell me these guys have one of the most respectable brew lists and scotch lists they have ever seen.
The inside is pretty dark and has quite an English Pub feel (at least, what I think an English Pub feels like), but the patio is surprisingly bright and cheery. I love sitting out there during spring, summer and even fall seasons.
The food here is UNbelievable. I had the best burger I have had in a very, very long time. They do rare right. Also, the boy has had perfect burgers every time as well.
Another surprise: They show a TON of football games here. They had the list posted in the bathroom (which I will get to in a moment) and there were around 20 college games they were going to televise that day.
And the bathroom. Wow. You would think that you would be in store for a regular to somewhat dirty bathroom based on the inside of the bar, but the bathroom (ladies', at least) is incredibly clean and very nice. It's like going from English pub to, well, somewhat upscale restaurant.
The only downside to this place was the somewhat slow service, especially when the sign is up to seat yourself.
This bar is a place best not judged by first appearances. If you like good, hearty food, fancy beer (or scotch), lots of football games and clean bathrooms, definitely give this place a try.
Oh, and they have a beer that is called "Man Beer." Shouldn't that be enough?
I give this place 5 stars because I just like it a whole lot. They don't have incredible food, or awesome servers, or fancy decor. I like it because the combination of everything is "just right." First of all, I LOVE a good French dip. Theirs is delish, with just the right meat-to-bun ratio. Nothing makes me madder than a gigantic hoagie roll and two thin slices of beef. The au jus is salty and succulent. The shoestring fries are crispy-chewy and perfect to plunge into the leftover au jus. Other things that tempt my palate are the fish & chips and the steak and apple salad (mmmm).
Let's not forget about brunch. If you want to go to brunch and actually eat, rather than just "be seen," you should give this place a definite try. The drink specials are killer (their cheap Bloody Mary's are "doubles") and they have enough televisions around the place to catch your favorite team's game no matter what the season.
The place is dark and reminiscent of the way pubs in London actually look (with American "bigness" instead of being quaint). But if you have ever had real British pub food (yuk), this place WAY outdoes itself in that department.
And the bonus is, they have cool merchandise for sale, so if you have a teenage nephew who likes to get t-shirts from other places, or a brother who collects pub pints, you're in business here.
"It looks just like it did in High School" was what my mother had to say when we happened into this pub while hunting for a good, reasonably priced lunch. Most of what you would want to know about this place has been mentioned in other reviews, but there are a few things it is good to know. The whole restaurant has a VERY casual feel IE. the whole restaurant is seat yourself and you sometimes need to be vocal to make sure you get menus/drinks/food in a reasonable amount of time. It has good pub food for lunch or dinner, and is a nice hangout with a relaxed English-pub decor likely unchanged since the mid-70s. If you are looking for some fun go on Sunday round 6pm for some good music and a lively, generationaly diverse crowd.
This place is great a totally CLASSIC bar. Food is decent, has a decent out door patio. If you want to keep it mellow in a dark dank pub that feels like your are in 1965 this is your place. Beyond that everyone seems to be reasonable happy to be there. Servers are prompt and polite and the food is good, beers are good too, and have cool names. Check it.
One of the best and most authentic pubs in Denver. I wish there were more places with this sort of a warm and inviting ambiance. I love UK style pubs with dark interiors and lots of woodwork and this is one of the few that really has it. They brew their own beer which is delicious and their food is great too. I have been here a few times over the years but I want to frequent it more since its so close to where I work.
i recently moved back to denver, and the first place i went was the B&b.
they have good food, the staff are friendly, great beer........it's now become my neighborhood hangout, just as a great pub should be!
Great Beer. Great Food. Great Vibe. What more could you ask for??
Lets start with the key component to a great Brew Pub - the Beer. The Bull and Bush brews its own beer giving you a vast array of beer to fit your mood or meal. The seasonal and special brews i.e the Legend of the Liquid Brain Imperial Stout, gives any Regular something to look forward to. But not only do they keep their own micro brews on tap but they also host a hefty list of hard to find beers that can make any beer geek grin.
The food has never been a disappointment. The menu even has suggested beer parings. At any day of the week and at any time of the day this neighborhood pub brings a mix crowd of older couples catching up with friends to the younger crowds throwing back pints and watching the Broncos on one of the many flat screens mounted on the walls.
Last but not least its always good times when, after more than a few pints, you find yourself puzzled in front of the signs on bathroom doors one reading "Bulls" and the other reading, fittingly, "Bush."
The Bull & Bush has a cute motto: "What's Yours?" Of course it makes more sense when you put it aside a Dick & Jane-esque illustration of a little boy and girl each looking down into their own underdrawers. Get it? Bull? Bush? Double-entendre at its finest.
I think they should change their slogan, though... to "What Can Brown Do For You?"
Oh, it's taken? By UPS, you say? Damn.
It'd be a perfect slogan for Bull & Bush because the place itself is so very, very brown. All their beers are varying shades of brown. Lots of tasty cooked meats are brown. And when you walk in the big brown door you're pretty much in store for some serious brown, brown woodwork. The lights themselves are even so dim as to be perceived as brown (okay, maybe beige).
This, however, is not a bad thing.
Those brown beers (of which there are many) are good. And if your tastes tend toward the lighter shades, you can always find something to please your palate. Even Bud Light can be called brown if you're willing to stretch your interpretation of the shade.
Of the brown meats on the menu, I'm a big fan of the BBQ ribs. Brown drenched in brown with a side of white, fluffy, buttery brown.
Lindsey mentioned that the decor in B & B smacks of the 1970s in a big way. Very, very true. In the 70s, brown was considered the new black. Don't believe me? I have three words for you: Wood Paneled Den. And while the wood lining every square inch of surface area inside the B & B obviously came from a much classier tree than the ones used to line those icky porn-dungeons of days gone by, the effect is similar. Brown-diggity. Brownie points. Browntown. Boogie Brown Productions.
Still, brown remains one of my favorite colors. And, sticking to its true colors, Bull & Bush remains a classic, reliable standby for good beers, good food, and good brown.
Great bar for drinking, but it's pretty far from downtown Denver. It was about a $20 cab ride to get there from the GABF. Food was nothing special and we were pretty much trying to keep our food down from all the beer we drank from GABF.
I wish I tried the beer here, but when you puke right next to the steps on the bike rack, you kind of don't want to try any more beer for the day.
I wouldn't mind coming back here.
Went tonight. A Friday evening at 6ish. At first I pissed... disappointed due to sitting there for 10 mins before a waitress came to our table. But after she did...service was good, and food was as well. I definately need to go again during "non peak" hours and hang out..enjoy some of there wide scotch selections. Will return again. Hopefully it will be a 4-5 star experience!
