Review from Steven H.
Koreatown, Los Angeles, CA
If there was such thing as a super Building 19, this would be it, with laughable merchandise as far as the eye can see. The second time I ever visited this store, the roof was leaking and so building 19 fixed it the building 19 way: by putting a trash barrel below the leak.
Apparently building 19 agrees with me that their stuff is junk, as their best merchandise (the carpet and furniture), are on display at the back of the store. It's kind of like milk and orange juice at a grocery store. Their strategy is that you will walk past the junk on your way there, find something else you like, and perhaps even take an oreo out of one of the packages as have so many customers before you. No, they're not complimentary. I give building 19 kudos for making fun of themselves with the many cartoons on their wall.
All seriousness aside, I have to say my best experience at this building 19 has to be the bathroom. I walked in to take a leak and of course there's a guy in the stall doing his thing. Whenever I sit on the can at home, I am reminded of the comfort I take for granted in my own bathroom. Surely this same comfort cannot present itself in the dripping wet bathroom of a bargain retail store on the lynnway. But to my surprise, everytime I use a bathroom at building 19, there's a guy audacious enough to use the stall. I finished my own business at the urinal and flushed, and it predictably sputtered and overflowed a bit onto the floor. The dispenser was empty so I had to dry my hands with a random roll of paper towels I found on the floor next to about 10 random boxes of baking soda.
My girlfriend, who was also equally daring enough to use the bathroom, said that the bottom of the partition of her stall was way too high above the floor (about 2 feet), and that if somebody walked in, they could very easily see exactly what you'd expect to accidentally see at building 19. -

Not for the squeamish. I hadn't visited in years and decided to pop in for a visit yesterday. I hit a goldmine of designer samples, all boutique clothing for kids -- each easily in the $50 range retail -- for under $5. I went in to buy paper plates and left with $100 of clothes. You really have to be ready to dig around, but trust me, if you love the hunt for a bargain you'll really love this place. Just bring a bottle of antiseptic gel, and you're all set. Also pop by the "merchandise mart" attached to it, it's a twisting hallway of little businesses.

I've had good luck at the Building #19 in Lynn. Sure, the parking lot looks like a bomb tore out most of the pavement, but once you get inside, there are treasures to be found. Like one time, my cat peed on my couch, and I needed to replace the foam in a couple of cushions. So I headed off to Building #19 in Lynn and they had just what I was looking for. Sometimes, there's a flea market going on on the adjoining parking lot; I got a pretty nice 1980s Milwaukee Brewers pin there once.

I have to say, Josh hits the nail in the head when he calls this place depressing. He just isn't lying. Although you can find some really hilarious stuff in there. Like crazy books and dvds for dirt cheap. Also, it's located next door to this sort of flea market place. And on weekends of the nicer months theres a gigantic yard sale in the parking lot. You can sometimes find some interesting furniture.
