This place is key for a couple of reasons. Produce section is unparalleled, even better than dekalb farmers market. Meats are pretty cheap here, although you get what you pay for. The Asian and eastern European sections are awesome and filled with products you would never find elsewhere together.
If you're adventurous and like to try new foods, this is your destination.
As per other reviews, go on the weekends when you can get samples of tons of great ethnic food. -
Review from Tanya F.
Once again you've eaten at one of your go-to ethnic eateries when it hits you, "I can make this myself!" You bask momentarily in the impending admiration and adulation of your friends and neighbors who will surely be impressed by your culinary cunning and creativity. You've even been watching the Cooking Channel, and hell if "Bitchin' Kitchen" hasn't left you feeling downright inspired.
You give your Pad Thai recipe the once over and realize that your cupboards are lacking 2/3 of the ingredients. Don't fret, Buford Highway Farmer's Market has got you covered. Grab a cart or a basket or that hybrid rolling basket (that's awkward to push for tall people) and stock up on your tamarind paste, fish sauce, dried shrimp and rice noodles.
From Buddha's hand to Cuties clementines, you'd be hard-pressed to find a produce selection with the diversity found here. The store's inventory is immense. To help navigate, note that packaged foods are organized by geographic region.
I've always found the staff to be helpful, even when still mastering the market's inventory themselves. I once asked an associate for help finding couscous. She dutifully continued to search even after I'd left her side to go exploring on my own. Even the cashiers are fast and efficient. What appear at first to be daunting lines often melt away in just a few minutes.
I should warn you that the parking lot is a mess. It's often crowded and full of backer inners, over-the-line parkers, one-way aisle ignorers, space stakeout-squatters, and kids. I recommend keeping to the sidelines rather than braving the bedlam seeking a primo parking spot.
In case you were wondering, the couscous is in the "Eastern European" aisle. Good luck with that Pad Thai. -

I've been living here in Atlanta for around six months now and I have been exploring a lot of grocery stores. All have their strengths and weaknesses. The Buford Highway Farmers Market's +'s and -'s I will list below, but first I would like to purpose a question to all of you Atlanta folk.
Why do you guys call all of these GROCERY STORES farmers markets? Everywhere else in the country a farmers market is a place where many farmers and food producers get together to sell directly to the public. See, what you guys have here is just a grocery store, not a farmers market. Anyway.... I'll dismount my high horse and get down to business.
BHFM pro's
-Clean / no fowl odors
- Great selection of imported chocolate, candy, eastern European / Russian products.
- Adequate selection of imported cheese, kosher products, and most other ethnic food.
- Great fish dept. with good prices and no extra charge for gutting and cleaning.
- They make and sell their own tofu, so if you need fresh tofu this is the place. .
- The produce dept. is extensive and vast. They have the best variety of Asian green I have seen outside of Asia.
- They have local made jams, jellies, and sorghum syrup.
BHFM con's
- Excluding the fish dept, everything seemed a little overpriced.
- The produce dept. was well overpriced. Many things were twice what we usually pay at the "farmers markets" in the Korean hood up on Pleasant Hill Rd.
So overall, BHFM is worth experiencing and exploring, especially if you just shop at Publix all the time but want to try ethnic markets but don't because they smell bad. -
Review from Janet B.
I'm amazed a place so humongous can make me feel so claustrophobic.
No doubt this farmers market has endless aisles of local produces and imports, the nostalgia-provoking items and the totally unidentifiable. For CHEAP too. I think the meats and seafoods are better than the ones you find at H-Mart, and it's obviously more international.
The foods they make and sell, like soon dae and man joo, are also so delicious. And again, CHEAP. The place offers so many samples on the weekends, you can just bypass lunch.
But something about this place repels me. i think it has to do with entering the place and being swallowed into the overwhelmingly crowded "fresh produces" section. After weaving my way through that, I'm ready to go home, or retrieve to my comfort zone Hmart. I should try to go to the Farmers Market during obscure hours, perhaps. -

Compared to the Dekalb farmers market, this set up is based on the countries/cultures which is nice and fun.The seafood and meat is better priced than Dekalb farmers market, its way cheaper and thats an A+ in my book. Its a clean place staff not so friendly and mostly hispanic people always in there. I go to Dekalb farmers market for veges and here for meat, seafood and things I can't find at Dekalb market.

Freshly made tortillas, guacamole/habanero sauce, the widest variety of exotic produce, $1.09 bags of saffron (DID YA HEAR ME? I SAID $1.09!!), pure pomegranate juice (no added sugar or preservatives) $3.29...and so. much. more.
I love the way this store is organized; each nationality that's represented has its own aisle, so it makes it easy for people like me, who don't enjoy shopping, to get in, get what I want and get out. The problem is, if you go to the store at the right time, they're handing out samples of everything!! I took my sis yesterday and she wanted to explore...so we spent TWO HOURS there.
LOVE this place... -

I'm not sure of any place in the world with such a variety of pan-cultural specialized goods from Asia to Europe from Kosher to Halal. Want basil? I found three types (Italian, Thai, and Thai Sweet). Miso? Pick japanese or korean. Even has fresh tofu and fresh tortillas.

Have I really not written a review for this great place yet?
For several years, this was a regular source for groceries, until HMart became more convenient. This is still a great place for cheap meat and seafood.
On weekends, the free samples are usually quesadilla and dumplings/ramen. Daily, you can usually find dry foods samples of crackers or seaweed. At the small deli in the middle of the store, they have delish samples of various meats and snacks. Although it gets busy on weekends, they are usually prepared and lines are no longer than 4 parties. The place stays clean and thanks to its huge size, you rarely feel crowded.
From here I have gotten my thick winter blanket, rice, bubble tea ingredients, fruits and veggies, and so much more. I like their Korean section, but nothing beats HMart. Seafood section is also decent, with crab and shrimp. This place is a mix of Asian and Mexican culture - if you look hard you might find it. -

Buford Highway Farmers Market has been around for as long as I can remember. It's been in the Atlanta area longer than H Mart, GreatWall, Mega Mart, etc. The good thing about BHFM is that it's convenient to many ITP'ers -- just a short drive north of 285. However, unlike the other guys in Duluth, BHFM's prices are higher. A few random examples of price comparisons (BHFM vs. Mega Mart) from the produce section include:
Watermelon $5.99 vs. $3.99
Pineapples $2.49 vs. $1.00
Cantaloupe $1.19 vs. $0.99
Also, the nearby H Mart off Peachtree Industrial is newer, cleaner, and beats BHFM in most pricing. Apart from the pricing issues, BHFM is still a good all-around ethnic supermarket. They stock produce, meats, foods, and food products from all over the world. The aisles are arranged by country to make it easy to find what you need.
As far as produce, meats, and seafood are concerned, BHFM has a pretty robust selection. The depth and variety of items they carry rivals that of their competitors. They carry rare and unique produce, all sorts of animal parts and organs, and a wide inventory of live and fresh seafood.
A few interesting things I noticed about BHFM are:
1. They have a sink in the middle of the produce section to wash your hands (or in some cases, fruits!). I saw one lady wash a couple Mexican guavas in the sink and start eating them on the spot.
2. They provide free motorized carts, complete with BHFM logos, for handicapped people.
3. They have small crates with wheels and handles that you can extend so you can drag the crate behind you (like carry-on luggage). This is convenient if you're not buying too much stuff and don't want to push an entire cart around.
One night, as BHFM was about to close and the workers were sweeping the floors, I saw one worker sweep up fallen fruit along with other dirt, dust, and trash from the floor. He picked up the fruit and put it back with the rest on the stands. Gross. Let this be a warning to wash any produce you buy from here. Also, there have been crime problems in the past, hence the beefed up security inside and out.Listed in: Atlanta Grocers and Farmers…

The Buford Highway Farmers Market wasn't really what I was expecting. To me it was just a giant international supermarket. I was expecting more "market" and less "super".
The selection, especially the seafood market, was amazing of course, but it was a little overkill for me. I have my basic list of international dishes that we eat at home, and we can already find what we need at smaller markets closer to home.
Some of the produce was reasonably priced (like 1.79 for a pint of raspberries), but there wasn't much difference from what I'm used to spending.
I noticed zero samples when visiting on a Sunday.
Oh, and if you need lots of random Hello Kitty stuff, this is the place!Listed in: Apparently I eat a lot of…

Every visit brings a tingle down my spine... I JUST KNOW i am about to have a good time here!!
The vegetables are always bright, fresh, and cheap! The array of different veggies from different parts of the world at such affordable prices makes me wonder: "how many chefs shed tears of joy when they see all the fresh produce at such low costs?"
The meat section is also a fun place to swirl around and find different cuts of beef, poultry etc etc at very reasonable prices. Here, u will find cuts from the farm animals that you never thought was ever edible... once again, in my mind, i picture an asian chef wipe his cheeks from tears of joy ...
the seafood section is the most fun part of this trip! I love love love sea food and i find it wonderful that they will clean and chop the fish (according to your liking) after you select specifically which ones you want. I love the silver pompfret (spelling?!? bahaha), the indian mackerel, milkfish, flounder, tiliapia, salmon, tuna, the 3 for a dollar mussels, farm or wild caught shrimps, fresh squid, and many other sea creatures that I currently cant think of right now...
The variety of how the sea food is prepared is also huge. You can select from fresh, frozen, pickled, processed, sun-dried, salted, smoked, mixed, fillet, whole, chopped, etc!
Then, the selection of other items itself is a holy-shizzle moment. U can find genuine brands from all parts of the world from Eastern Europe, to Africa, to Philippines. It is simply amazing. Not only do they serve edible items, but they also have certain little things like soap, shampoo, perfume, and other items specifically from that country.
The bakery, although I have never sampled their bread, always smells good. They also have a tortilla press in that bakery where u can buy freshly made tortillas.
They have home made hard tofu, and also, some cheap good-brand tofus, decently priced mushroom, an array of noodles! and a good selection of sacks of rice. They almost always have some kind of sale going on with their rice.
The also have a small flower section, and the flowers are always so pretty and healthy. They sell a dozen of bright roses for about 10 bucks, and it is so worth it! If u dont want roses then they have other moderately priced flowers like carnations, sunflowers, and other usual flowers... nothing fancy!
PS:
-bring ur patience with you if you are going to order fish (especially on weekend afternoons) for the line can be long. Make sure u GET A NUMBER and dont go anywhere until they call your number. After they take ur order, thats when u can walk away, but dont forget to bring the "buzzer" so when it is ready, you will know and GET THERE QUICK!
-Come on sunday mornings! the whole place is full of FREE SAMPLES!!
-Make sure u know what you are looking for and know how to explain it to someone... this is an international farmer's market and almost everyone that works here are not from the U.S, so please be kind. -
Review from Eowyn C.
I had forgotten what it feels like to get excited about grocery shopping...until I came here.
We went on a Sunday and it was bustling, but nowhere near the mass chaos that is Dekalb Farmer's Market on a Sunday/Holiday/Everyday. They have cute little buggy's similar to rolling luggage that are perfect for navigating the crowd. Every aisle is organized by ethnicity/origin, fueling my OCD tendencies. The quality of the produce is out of this world. I have never seen such giant shiny red bell peppers in my life. And to make it even better, the prices are insanely cheap. My groceries for the week rang up to $27....really.
Everyone here is super friendly and helpful and the cashiers have memorized all the produce codes and type them in at a rapid speed. I only had to buy a few items at my local Kroger, such as cornbread and creamer because I am brand loyal on those two items. I can't wait to go back!! -

Where in South Florida does this exist, it doesn't. In one location I can get a wide range of fruits and vegetables including Kelp and Longan. I walk the Jamaican aisle followed by the Russian candy and ice cream. I can get my Kimchi, pickled ginger, and chorizo all in one location.
The vegetables are fresh and from all parts of the globe. If you chose organic you can get it or not. Meats for anyone interested. If you like cow foot you can get that or if you prefer the more typical filet you can get that as well. A good selection of salt water and fresh water fish.
You can read the reviews yourself and there is a common theme, even with some items costing more than your local grocery, the selection just can't be beat. -
Review from Helena W.
When it comes to non-produce items we stick with a regular supermarket. Stuff like foil, detergent, toiletries are on the higher end here. We love the selection of meats, fruits and veggies and I've noticed we eat much healthier now that we shop here regularly. Fresh fruit smoothies, homemade sushi, the variety of meats and spices.... its all wonderful.
It is a challenge sometimes when you have questions and some of the staff look at you with a blank stare. So long as you know what you want you'll be fine.
I can say we go shopping every two weeks and overall we are spending less money on our trips and we have a wider variety of meals that we prepare now. -

Like I've said before... Buford Highway is a magical place with so much magical food. The farmers market is equally as magical.
It's been years since the last time I visited, but I stopped by to get some fresh groceries with my dad the other day and this place has COMPLETELY transformed. It used to be like any other asian farmers market... Smelly, unorganized, and super super crowded but they've totally redone to the point where I think someone might actually be concerned about customer experience. The aisles are cleaner and wider, everything's laid out nicely, and the store doesn't smell all that funny (even in the seafood section!). Also, they have these awesome rolly baskets that you can either roll around like a suitcase or carry like a normal basket! I've heard that Whole Foods and Trader Joe's has these, too, but it's pretty neat that a farmer's market beat Kroger and Publix to it! -

Groovy place. I am very happy that I discovered the back way so now this is now a short drive from my house. There's a ton of reviews, so I'll let others sing the praises. I'll give you a couple warnings so that you can manage your expectations.
There are a couple negatives to this place:
Things like dried beans and rice are divided by region, so you have to look in four or five places to find exactly what you're looking for if you're being picky or price comparing.
There are some standard american staples, but it's not enough and priced such that I can eliminate trips to Publix and Kroger. I can, however, eliminate any desire to step foot inside a Fresh Market or Whole Foods. -
Review from Teddy D.
I LOVE ood shopping here! Better yet, I love coming here on weekends. Why you ask? There are a ton of free samples. I even buy some of the things I sample. That's how good it is!
This market is so great. Clean, staff are helpful and so many different types of food. Fruit and veg look fresh and prices are good. I shop here about once a month and will keep shopping here while I live in Atlanta. The only real negative about this place is it's not in my neighborhood. -

I LOVE this place. After moving back to Atlanta from NYC I was looking for places to go and get fresh produce and vegetables. I think I may have found that place here. Not only is it very convenient for me to get to, the prices and selection of fresh offerings make every visit worth it.
Not only is the produce and fruit fresh and reasonably price, but they also have a great selection of herbs, spices, and nuts. If you need something unusual for a recipe dint waist your time and money at Whole Foods, go straight here! -

Woah.
This place is unreal. If you can't find it here, it probably doesn't exist. I have never seen a selection of foods from around the world as comprehensive as what the Buford Highway Farmer's Market offers. Their produce selection is sublime, the meat department is solid, and it's a foodie's dream to navigate the store.. which is organized by ethnicity.
I don't if you've ever experienced that 'mall tired' feeling that you get when you spend a few hours at the mall and your brain eventually goes into sensory overload mode and starts to shut down? That's how I felt at Buford Highway Farmer's Market the first time I went. To really see it all you probably need to spend at least an hour to an hour and a half but after a certain point it just gets really hard to take it all in.
This place is insane and that's in a good way. -
Review from Sherry W.
Love the concept. Buford Highway Farmer's Market carries a plethora of ethnic foods. Among them include Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Eastern European, etc. They also give out tons of samples, which can practically fill you up for lunch.
Upon entering, you first approach the produce section. There's a very large variety of fruits and vegetables, which, IMO, were not as cheap as I thought they'd be in comparison to other ethnic supermarkets. Nevertheless, the produce is very fresh and appealing for those who cook with lots of exotic fruits and vegetables. Next, you can see a Mexican bakery with lots of fresh breads to choose from. Then you'll hit the rest of the Mexican section, which serves every single type, shape, and size of tortilla on earth. There's also the meat and fish sections (warning: smells VERY fishy), and then you'll pass through the Eastern European section. On the other side are all the asian ethnic foods. There's also a section that sells prepared korean/japanese food.
A good experience. If you go on the weekend, expect a very large crowd. The moving mariachi band that was there when we went made the experience very comical. -
Review from Amanda W.
I don't what it is about the Buford Highway Farmers Market, but it's an absolute magical place. It's why I seem to find myself there almost every 2 - 3 weeks. And it's just not the uber cheap produce or ethnic food oddities (and I mean that in a good way).
In my opinion, the best time to go is on the weekend, as that's when all of the free sample booths are set up around the market. I refer to it as eating around the world. It can be a bit crowded and chaotic, but seriously, you can have a nice little meal on the free samples alone. Plus, I find it good way to try out new foods and cuisine. Sometimes I find myself at the Market on weekend, not because I need anything, but because I need a snack.
If you want to avoid the crowds and take your time browsing all of the different types of soy sauce (I believe there are over 50 types), definitely go during the week vs. weekend.
The monthly classes are also noteworthy. It'll be the best $20 you'll ever spend. Not only do you get to learn some new cooking techniques, eat some yummy food (and take some home for later!), but you also get a $10 gift card to the Market. I just recently took my first class on making Spring Rolls and Thai Basil Rolls by Chinese Southern Belle. Seriously awesome, educational, and delicious!Listed in: Where I Get My Eats On, Eating and Drinking Around the…, My Neighborhood

My family loves this place. We started going here when they were in another location maybe 10 years ago. Every time we go to Atlanta, we HAVE to stop here!
I remember when they used to have fresh spicy chicken tamales available at the exit... MAN, I miss those days. But I still love coming here~ It's like a magical land of food from every country without the expensive airfare.
The fruits and veggies are amazingly fresh, their own tofu is SO yummy, plenty of meat choices as well!
I actually really like the fact that all the food is divided by country... I can explore foods by culture and see what else I'm missing out on. Plus the Japanese & Korean candies are right across from each other and the sweet tooth in me loves it. :D
I wish there was a huge market like this one in LA! Would make life so much easier (and cheaper.)Listed in: My Go-To Places in Atlanta

I lovelovelove the Buford Highway Farmers Market. It's a fun place to shop, they have more food than I could ever know what to do with, their produce is amazing and cheap, and they got mad samples.
My only complaint, really, is that everything is divided by ethnicity. (http://cdn0.knowyourme...) So, for example, rice is located in probably five or six different places, and it's next to impossible to price compare between all of these locations. My ethnicity is mostly indeterminate but I like to cook all kinds of international food. Basically, give yourself a lot of time here and try to figure out which products you like hail from where--though Sriracha is on aisle 28 with the Chinese products rather than a couple over with Vietnamese items. Confusing. Whatever.
Regardless, I can get almost everything that I need here, though I usually mix in trips to DeKalb Farmers Market (anyone else feel like they're cheating when they visit one or the other?), Whole Foods, and Publix as well. Yes, it's a little ridiculous.
Items to look for in particular: Mexican coca-cola (eternally on sale here and in super-adorable glass bottles), fresh and amazing tortillas in the bakery section, their in-house tofu in the produce section (so cheap, so superior to every other tofu), the nice sample folks in the Latin American section (though I do wish they'd habla Spanish to me rather than English), and mock shrimp in the frozen aisle.
Buford Highway Farmers Market does me so right. Well worth the trek up Buford Highway, y'all. -
Review from Ken T.
Same with Todd P., if this place was any closer to me, I'd give it 6 stars.
I love how this place opens up and you almost go into sensory overload with how colorful and diverse everything is there. The people, the food, the produce, and everything about it are things you won't see at your local Publix/Kroger. I was very impressed by the large selection of produce, fresh meats, and seafood. No complaints here, other than I simply didn't have enough time to explore. Will be back soon!
Also, their free samples are a quick ticket to my heart. -

This place is so amazing that I only allow myself to go once a month...otherwise I would be broke buying a ton of products that I really have no idea how to properly use. It has a lot of Mexican, Korean, Japanese and Caribbean products (which are all amazing). A couple of years ago it added an Eastern European section which warmed my heart. I can finally get products that I could only get in the Motherland, at an extremely decent price. Go on the weekend (during sample day) instead of to a restaurant for lunch. You will fill yourself up with a variety of delicious foods.
My favorite products (not counting the EE section) are the fresh tortillas and to-go make-at-home Korean BBQ pork. -

I am a serious Dekalb Farmer's Market fan, so I felt a bit like I was cheating by going to Buford Highway instead. I was just too tired to feel like I was walking into a war zone, and I had heard Buford Highway was better on this point that Dekalb. It was true. The place is laid out more user friendly, with cleaner and wider shopping aisles. There was a very large and good selection of all international foods and bulk spices, which is why I was going there. The selection of veggies was also good.
I don't feel the fruit/veggies and baked goods are as fresh as Dekalb Farmer's Market, but maybe that's just in my head. I will still likely go to DFM when I can find non peak hours to go. However, if it's a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, I definitely recommend trying Buford highway Farmer's Market because it is a more convenient and less stressful experience. -

Love you baba (I called her today and she was making Borscht..It made me hungry so I wanted to make some today). So I bought:
Fresh Beets (3 lbs.)
Chinese Cabbage (3 lbs.)
Sweet Onion
Beef Flank Roast (3 lbs.)
Jasmine Rice (5 lbs.)
Strawberries (1 lb.)
Fresh Bunch of Dill
Two Rome Apples
Four Korean Sweet Potatoes
Fresh Rye Bread
Warka Six Pack
Amish Sour Cream
Three Large sized Perogies (1 Kraut, 2 with cheese)
Two Mexican Cokes
The awesome low price of $54.76.
This is probably my favorite place to get groceries. I've been coming here about every two weeks since I've lived in Atlanta. It's worth the drive and I can get my father's favorite candy for his birthday. I can also get fresh tortillas, fish, meat, dumplings, and almost anything from any corner of the world.
The one star is for the fact that there is no traffic light in front of here. It's gotten popular enough that the intersection is a safety hazard.

This is the best place to buy vegetables and fruits. Period.
If you are looking for food of a certain ethnic type, they have made it easy to find by breaking up the aisles into each.

I am short on time; a longer review will follow. I agree with most of these assessments. A true cooking resource for all of Atlanta.
Do you like lamb kabob's? Go to the meat counter in the far back and get some of the freshly made lamb kabobs that Mohammad makes.
They are delicious, season with fresh black pepper and sea salt, then put them on the grill for 6 minutes. Delicious!!
You get lost here....set your clock to wander.....and go.
BTW - outstanding Hello Kitty section - maybe biggest in Atlanta. -

My favorite farmer's market, bar none. I rate it above Your Dekalb Farmer's Market, but it does have a Latin/Asian theme above all else (due to the area, probably).
Cheaper produce than any farmer's market (forget Kroger/Publix). Cheaper meats with a huge selection. Need a gallon of blood? They've got it. Bull penis? No problem. Cactus, lychee (in season), organic produce, 20 apple varieties, bulk packages for restaurants, nuts, yogurt covered pretzels, freshly made (warm) tortillas? They've got you covered. Sections of food, including separated Asian cuisine, because Indian and Chinese shouldn't be in the same section. Live fish and lobsters at less than $10? Yup. Imported Mexican Coke with real sugar from Cuba? Indeed! A wide selection of Greek olives that aren't kalamata, some smoked salmon and pickled herring. Holy CLAMATO! Pre-marinated bulgogi. Kalbi sauce for your short-ribs! No need to drive to Super H Mart for your 50 pound bag of rice -- they have many varieties! Zojirushi for sale to cook that sh!t up! Free samples galore (on Sundays, especially). Need to get your emissions tested? Well happy birthday -- you can have it done in the parking lot while you shop, even on Sunday! Jackfruit, not to be confused with Durian -- both are available. Spices on the cheap. Cleaning products? Jarritos? Fresh sushi? Yes, yes, yes! Sashimi beef for a couple bucks a pound -- I'm in heaven. Mexican snacks, European cookies, Japanese and Korean Pocky. Get your shrimp flavored curls here. Quail egg omelet starts here. And they have an American section for white kids like me to get my cheese slices and hot dogs.
It's also an experience. Expect moms with their 4 kids under 10, all running unsupervised. Carts left in the middle of the isle. If this bothers you, stick with your Whole Foods, please. -
Review from Tom C.
I love Buford Highway Farmer's Market!
They have such a huge, good selection of ethnic foods to grocery shop for. They have everything that you probably are looking for. They got Asian, Hispanic, Eastern European, African, Caribbean, and American grocery food items.
The three strongest points of Buford Highway Farmers Market to me is:
1. They have a huge fresh fish market. Being in Atlanta and being landlocked away from the ocean. Finding good quality fresh is hard to do sometimes but not at the BHFM.
2. They cut their own meats and have a huge, fresh meat selection. Not only is it fresh but their meats are cheaper than what you pay for at Kroger or Publix.
3. Cheap produce. On average they are anywhere from .50 to $2.00 cheaper than what you pay for at Kroger and Publix. This is why I never buy produce at Kroger and Publix because I feel like I'm getting ripped off.
But on the flipside, when you buy regular American food items like diary, eggs, snacks or Cereal they are a little bit more expensive than what you would pay for at the above mentioned Georgia grocery stores. But getting cheaper Asian food items (not sure if the other ethnic grocery items are cheaper), fresh fish, cheap fresh meats, and produce makes it worth coming here.
On a side note, beware of coming here on Sundays, the parking lot is jammed pack and it gets hella busy inside. -
Review from Mike C.

A great market but not as international as you might think. This is an Asian and Latin market with a little extra thrown in. You'll still have trouble finding Moroccan or Middle eastern spices and true speciialties. The produce section is my favorite in Atlanta, and I can eat the competing Tortilla company food samples all day. Meat is great but I've found that for some reason the stuff I'm looking for (Lamb) is in the freezer section. I've looked in the fish market but there's too many cloudy eyes in there for me. The asian selection is what's most impressive since Kroger stores in the perimeter sell most every latin item, just not as much of it.
A great way to kill a weekend afternoon, and a cart full of stuff will always shock you at how cheap it is. -

The only thing I don't like about this place is that it's not next door to my house! Other than that...amazing.
Super fresh produce, and tons of it. Everything you can think of, and some things you've never imagined, they've got. Compared to the wilted, limply-sad stuff at the Kroger closer to home, this place wins, hands down. To me, it's worth the drive up BuHi for the fresh fruit and veggies.
A huge selection of ethnic foods from nearly any location across the globe.
Large variety of fresh fish and meats. You can buy a whole fish and have them prep it for you on the spot.
And for the adventurous, they even offer cooking classes. I attended the Chinese dumpling class taught here by the Chinese Southern Belle a month or two back and had a great time.
One downside -- since it's so vast and arranged by geography, sometimes it's tough to find stuff that doesn't really fit into a particular genre of food. But the staff is friendly and if you can get an English speaker, you can usually find what you need.
4.5 stars, rounded UP! -

lawhafmerice....we bought 4 types of fish, several prayer candles, and all kinds of fruits, veggies, herbs and tea....and we spent less than $80
Last time I was here, I didnt have the time to browse the various aisles. I found this tea that I've been lookin for, for over a year. Someone gave it to me as a gift, and that person and I had a falling out, and I wouldnt give them the satisfaction of calling and asking where they had bought the tea.
8 different ways to have your fish cleaned and they do it quick!
They have more pre-packaged items in produce now, but I;ve only been twice, so maybe it just seems that way. The grapes were most definatly packaged up in a plastic mesh container....to me...thats just wasteful in a "farmers market". I want to pick my grapes off the stem myself.....and Im stuck with throwing away or recycling the little plastic thingy.
Otherwise, this place would be a 4 star if it was closer to my home.Listed in: YELP 365

This market is the worth a trip to Doraville. The produce and seafood selection are amazing, as are the prices. The store is clean, well organized and everything is always fresh.

This one is a bit out of my way, but when I am on the other side of the world here near 285 I stop and shop. The tortillas are made fresh and spectacular. One can graze for hours as there are always loads of sample food stands. It has an unimaginable selection of ethnic foods available in regional isles. Yum!

Ok, I'm not trying to enter the Dekalb vs Buford debate so I'm going to stick to what makes this MY favorite market. I grew up in Maryland, my grandfather sold seafood, so needless to say I'm a bit picky when it comes to all things that live in the ocean.
This is the best place hands-down, in my opinion, for fresh seafood in Atlanta. The fish are whole so they do not dry out and are cut to your liking-- in my case head on, scaled and gutted so that it can go right in the grill or in the oven. The weekend fish offerings are outstanding and the shellfish have always been solid-- still looking for good blue crabs in the area though.....
I also like the Russians at the deli-- they know my order and take pride in what they do. Their hand-made breads are a well kept, but delicious secret. Plus this is one of the few places to find a whole pork butt!
While the lines can be long on the weekends, the $1.50 empanadas near the exit more than make up for it. -

I love this place. Sometimes I have a hard time finding things from home, like escarole. I can't find escarole in any of the supermarket chains here in the south, but BHFM always has it... plus a million other veggies I've never seen before. My husband and I always try to pick up something new while we're there, to broaden our horizons a bit.
I go to BHFM on a regular basis for the following items/reasons:
- Fresh veggies: they have an amazing selection and I've never left without finding what I need.
- Dried herbs.
- Vegetarian kimchi: I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't care much for fish sauce. This stuff is made without it.
- Hot peppers: I looooove spicy food. You can find all kinds of hot peppers here, from all corners of the world; dried, marinated, in sauce, in oil...
- Exploration. Like I mentioned previously, I never leave without trying something new!
- It's clean! That's not always the case with farmers markets. -

Hands down, one of the best places in Atlanta. We won't go anywhere else for produce. If you want it, you can find it here. Not only do they have the largest produce section I've ever seen, their prices are great and their selection is fresh and great quality. We buy a lot of our meat there as well.
The store is also very nice and clean. You will feel totally comfortable there and no matter how crowded it is, you can get in and out so fast. I have never seen such fast cashiers!
We shop there specifically for produce, meats, breads, and "unique" buys, however, we do not go there for canned good. You can find better prices on packaged products elsewhere.
This place is not only a gem in Atlanta but truly fun and unique. We love it! -

Love this place. It's a long trip up Buford Highway, but so worth it once you arrive. This is a HUGE, fun, multi-ethnic market with stuff from all over.
Ever visit Korea and try the little yoghurt things in the 2-ounce plastic bottles? Yummy, huh? They have them here.
Develop a sudden craving for a large supply of toasted seaweed? Same thing.
My personal vice is the Coconut Juice from Thailand. It comes in cases of 24 cans... and I go through them quick.
Eastern European, Central American, Korean, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Russian - it's all here. Some is gourmet, organic, other stuff is just common to the region represented. Like those yoghurt things. Or, some weird cookie with Nutella that you can only find in the Ukraine.
Naturally, the seafood section is like walking into 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
Oh, fun fun fun. This place is great. You owe it to yoruself.
