I wouldn't say Buffet King is anything amazing, but it will satisfy a craving for Chinese food! There is a pretty large selection of foods, plus there is a Mongolian section which is a nice plus. I would say the prices are about average, $11.99 for Dinner on Friday or Saturday, I believe $9.99 for lunch on the weekend, and $7.99 for the Lunch buffet Monday through Thursday. I would definitely pay $8 for a lunch buffet, probably not $13 for the weekend dinner on a student's budget! Overall, I recommend Buffet King and the food tasted really good.

When they first opened, they were the best buffet in town. I must say that their food and preparation quality has gone down quite a bit. That seems to be a frequent occurrence with a lot of restaurants. Yor safest bet is the Mongolian grill since you're getting fresh, personally selected ingredients fixed right in front of you.

On the other hand, I may have come on a wrong day or time of day. Hopefully, my experience with the buffet items will be better next time I'm there.

Good food. Cheap napkins. Two people can eat for $15.78 not bad.  The restroom is clean. Just people are not able to control them self and not write on the walls!   The sushi is great.

Chinese food is one of my comfort foods.  My hubby and I stopped in for a quick lunch and are so glad we did.  For about the same price you'd pay for some fast food, you can attempt to make some healthier choices here.  They did have a big selection around 1230pm when we walked in.  The first thing I did was take a quick tour of the buffet, grill and sushi areas.

I recommend you start with the grill, load up a bowl, skip the carbs and head straight for the protein and veggies.  My theory is that carbs and fried just fill you up.  So, I made a cabbage, beef, tofu bowl with spicy sauce.  I was impressed that the meats were frozen, sliced thin, so you could be sure of the freshness!

Next, I took a trip down one of the aisles tasting a small amount of the garlic pork, chicken teriyaki, spring roll, rice noodles, Thai chicken, stuffed shrimp and mushroom.  We think that was the same filling they use on the steamed or fried dumplings so the stuffed shrimp was like a meatball with a shrimp on top.  For dessert, I had the stiff orange jello and two kinds of asian fruits in light syrup.  There was a lot that I did not try, including a spicy dish with baby octopus.  Next time, I think I'll just focus on that grill.

One of the best Asian buffets I've been to.  If you are looking gourmet, why are you doing to a buffet.  The food is fresh and well prepared.  I really like the Mongolian grill side of it and the Sushi is great.  If you want a more upscale Asian, go to PF Chang's, this is a buffet, so not sure why previous reviews knocked the place, it's a buffet.

Good but, not the best. And I truly am a lover of all asian food. The food seems to have an excess of grease and the prices aren't amazing. I know the owner and he's a bit of a miser.

I really liked this place, I took the Family with and there where endless choices. The Sushi is very fresh and tasty and the Wahhabi was great not pasty. I thought that the Mongolian grill had several great options and sauce combinations. There was a huge selection of authentic Chinese food to for the more daring "I love it". One very good compliment I can make about this place is that everything I ate was fresh and HOT. I hate the giant Buffet Chinese places that let food stay in the warmers too long and the food gets dried or cold and nasty. None of this stuff here, the food was great and the choices were good ,service is very good but with our particular server we had some communication barriers. All in all if you like Chinese Buffet give it a try!

First trip to the buffet king, after hearing about this place non stop from friends. Next you must understand that this is a family oriented, all you can eat buffett, so be prepared for lots of screaming kids.
Lots of choices and a variety of things to try. Best I can tell is that if you are very selective, some of this was tasty. The standard orange chicken, peppered beef and pot stickers are pretty good. The fried things such as chicken tenders and squid are good things to avoid as dry and tough. Overall just passable, hence the 2 stars. For the price, we are Headin back to Bataar in the mid cities area. All you can eat buffett, I would perhaps recommend a trip to the Golden Corral.

What do you do when you see a billboard boasting over 200 items? You stop by and check it out.

Went to Buffet King for lunch, and for the 6.99 +tax lunch special this place is good. Whenever I go to a buffet place I tend to try a little bit of everything, and everything was decent to delicious. The food was fresh with a top notch Mongolian Grill (Think Genghis Grill). The sushi was average at best, but compared to other Chinese buffet places that offer sushi Buffet King wins. After gluttonizing 3 plates of everything I had to go back for more of the garlic shrimp and Chinese fried chicken.

Only down side of this place is the location. Buffet King is in a shopping center behind the shopping center where you see the Burger King. If you're going northbound on I-35 it's right off the service road and easy to get too, but if you're going southbound on I-35 getting to this place can be a bit of a challenge if you're new to the area.

This is one of the best hinese Buffets we have eaten at. The shushmi was fresh & the rice was very good not dried out & their rolls were very good. The BBQ ribs were cooked good, tender not super sugary like alot of buffets I have eaten at. The hot & sour soup was a little more on the sour side, but it was pretty good & the deserts were very good as well. Overall they have really good food.

This is your basic Chinese buffet so don't expect anything fantastic.  I love that there's such a variety of food, including soups, fruits, desserts, and even a grill where you can load up a bowl and they will cook it for you.  The waitress was attentive and refilled my glass every time I started getting low.  We never had dirty dishes sitting on our table for more than a few minutes.  I wasn't a big fan of the wonton soup, but everything else was tasty!

This place is actually not bad!

I'm super skeptical of buffet food everywhere, cautiously dissecting the first round of everything i try. This place is pretty good! I only discarded a couple things off of my plate and there are so many choices. So by the math it was 80% awesome. Eel Sushi is fair. Mongolian grill is pretty rad, better than any I've visited at any mall.

It's a buffet.  I didn't get sick or food poisoning so it passes that test!  Service was good, people were friendly and they seemed to be replacing food items at a good rate on a very busy Sunday afternoon.  I would defintely rate it higher than Red Peppers but they still could have had more traditional Chinese entrees.  I will eat there again, but probably not anytime real soon - my waistline cannot take it!

(Cross-posted to Check it Bro: http://www.checkitbro....)

Buffet King is always packed and Diana and I wanted to know why. You find out one reason when you walk in the front door: the prices are reasonable. Lunch buffet on the weekend was $7 and change, and the total bill for two buffets and two drinks was right at $20.

This is a nice change from some other places in Denton that try to class it up, like Red Peppers, where you can spend $30 between two people. After that you think, "HEY DAMMIT I COULD HAVE GONE TO CHILI'S FOR THAT" and the crab legs aren't even worth it. Am I right?

So anyways, the food at Buffet King is hot and fresh, which is a big deal for Chinese buffet food. This is likely a byproduct of how busy the joint is, but the service - which here consists of drink refills and table busing - are also very efficient, so speed is obviously a focus.

Included in your meal is a sushi bar with all the beginner stuff like tuna rolls, California rolls, and Philadelphia rolls. The Mongolian grill is basically what you would find any place that advertises it and is almost as good as the one in Vista Ridge Mall; if you know your mall Mongolian grills, you know that Mongol Bowl at Vista Ridge Mall is the Cadillac of mall Mongolian grills.

The buffet offerings are pretty standard, with some exceptions. Sure, you can rock a sugar biscuit or some teriyaki chicken so hard, but they also have a gang of weird shit, like baby octopi. If you're into that, congratulations.

The desserts are good too, although they are unlabeled. I had some appie pie that was pretty solid, along with fresh fruit. Diana had some soft serve which was rad, but then she also had something that looked like a danish which seemed to have shrimp and mayonnaise in it.

I think Buffet King is probably the best buffet in town. If you like beginner sushi and basic Chinese fare, the bargain here is obvious.

The fiancé and I tried this place out today and were a bit disappointed.

I personally didn't think the selection was big, but maybe it was because we went at around 3pm on a weekday.  The food was just ok, nothing impressive; it wasn't very fresh and my fiancé had a bit of a bad experience with their beef broccoli, which was chewy, overcooked, and had a fishy flavor.  Their garlic shrimp was decent, as was their sweet and sour chicken and their sesame chicken.  I was disappointed that they didn't seem to offer steamed rice.  They only had a fried rice which looked radioactive due to its neon yellow/orange tinge.  In retrospect, we should have tried the Mongolian Grill as it seems you have more food to choose from and you DO get that piping hot as opposed to the lukewarm-ness of the buffet food.

I was hoping their desserts would save them but they didn't appeal to me and I'm a huge dessert-lover.  I only tried their apple pie which was decent and a dinner roll which was actually pretty good.  We also tried a nameless custard-y thing housed in a paper cup but it was just so-so.

The interior IS very nice and spacious, everything looks clean.

As far as pricing, this place is affordable (even though I was still sad to part with the $14.07 for both of us after eating).  I personally wouldn't recommend it to my friends, but perhaps you will have a different experience.

We took a large group (50) for dinner when this place first opened. It was simply "economical & alright". Since that time the term "alright" would be a gross exageration.  The tepid food, filthy diningroom and even worse restrooms should be more than enough to frighten off all but the buffet diehards.
