I've been here probably 8 times in the past 3 months, usually after hikes in the general area.
One of these times included a regular who passed us as he was leaving across the patio with duct tape and staples that were UN-successfully used to conceal his ass where a rip had occurred sometime during his wild night inside the bar.
30 mins later his concerned relatives were looking for him, but ended up retiring inside the bar when their concerned search ended with our detailed description and direction. They said he did not have far and the "PoPo" knew him well...now that "takes a village". Love it!
THIS is top notch local dive entertainment and you CANNOT convince me otherwise.
Wed night is Service industry nite and .50 taco night...which are, in spite of the .50 price, freaking delicious!
The Husband ™ ordered the Cubano and was more than thrilled.
They also have Barmen Pils which is a HUGE treat between my Banquet pours.

Saw a sign that read $5 for a burger, fries and a PBR.  Oh why the hell not?  Looked like a happening place and that was a great deal.  So we walked into the patio area and either the tables were too small to seat the four of us or were dirty.  So We find one in a prime location near the stage (that did have a live performer).  It was dirty so we stand around it hoping someone would acknowledge us, bus the table, serve us and accept our money.  After waiting around for 7 minutes without even a nod or wave in our direction we leave.

So much for a great patio and location.

I typically like this place but my last time here it was not good. The service was piss poor and, judging by other reviews, this is not an isolated experience. Nobody seemed to care about the customer or the food. What's happened?

If you want to wait around a lot and be un-waited upon by waitresses who clearly have better things to do --- hey, this is the place for you.

Nearly died of thirst and hunger while waiting for our order. Finally left to go forage along the river with the hippies and college students.

The service was poor; our waitress brought our drinks but no refills in the 45 minutes we waited. Our order never showed up even though people who ordered after us were fed. After waiting so long we finally just left without eating. On the way out I asked to speak to a manager but one could not be found. The bartender made a lame excuse and did not seem especially apologetic.

This place has a great outdoor large patio and live entertainment on weekends. Great spot to people watch, as tons of bikers are there on Sat afternoons.  We stopped in on our way back to Denver for a Buffalo burger. They had a $5 Buffalo burger special with a draft. We ordered it so I could have the burger and it was seriously, like the $0.99 burger that McDonald's offers. I think the deal is great but just be aware that the thin patty, the bun and condiments is just as ordered in the drive thru. Sad to agree with others, the service was terribly slow. We went inside to get our own menus. Otherwise, okay spot to have a quick drink if you desire to sit in the sun outdoors.

This place sucks. Not only was the service god awful, I gave the bartender a $50 and got short changed $30. When I said something, she told me I didn't know what I was talking about and kept my money! Whatever, that'll be the last penny they see out of me.

I wish I could give zero stars!  I was not aware of the 15 dollar minimum credit card charge.  I asked a waitress and a bartender, and none of them mentioned it to me.  When the bartender ran my card for 8.75, he also did not tell me he was going to take out money out of my account without my permission.  Why would you even take someone's card and run it for less than 15 dollars if there is a minimum charge?  I added the tip and signed, and then they still took out MORE money from me.  I wonder who got the money-the bartender for a tip or the bar, just because they like stealing from people's bank accounts!  This is STEALING.  I did not authorize them to take out more than what I signed for.  Very unethical business practices!  I will not be returning, and I will be raising a stink about my 3 dollars.

$15 minimum with credit card. Ordered a $7 drink, a $2.75 coors light draft, and a plain ol' diet coke but was charged $18. Not wanting to make a fuss we paid our tab and made our way to the sidewalk patio with our drinks. This provided for amusing entertainment watching all the drunken college students attempt to climb the buffalo statue out front.

Came back the next night and I was shocked to find out that this bar is actually HUGE!  When you enter it just seems like one long bar with scattered tables and stools.  Upon peering around the corner you'll see a whole room of pool tables and another of arcade games.  AND then go out back and you'll discover an outdoor stage equipped with a bar and bonfire.

Despite being overcharged the first night, we came back the next night.  If in Golden again, I'd give it another whirl...

If you're looking for a good 'ol time this is your bar. I have no idea how we ended up here last Saturday (friend of a friend of a friend had a band playing I believe) but I'm really into it. Let's clear a few things up: this is NOT a hip/trendy bar, you wont hear any songs from Kanye's new album, and you do not need to dress up. THESE ARE PROS! This is a cowboy bar with an awesome in-house band who played a wonderfully twangy set while the lead singer sported some meeeaaannn white sh*t kickers.
I'm not making the drive nightly mind you, but if you happen to be in/near Golden, make a stop.

Great grill/bar in a tourist trap town.

Go for the Bailout Burger Special (Extra Value Meal of Sorts) and hit the outdoor bar and patio.

Shot ski, $2 lobster claw game, good burgers, great fries, friendly staff and short distance from the Coors Brewery Tour site.

I wish I had kept walking towards Ace Hi Tavern, but they don't serve food so we settled on Buffalo Rose since every other restaurant in Golden was packed after the bike race Sunday. The service was good, but the drinks were so overpriced. $4.25 for a Molson pint! It's brewed right here in Golden and it's a glorified Coors Light. We also ordered $8 sliders that came with 3 onion rings and no cheese (although we were charged for it.) Not impressed!

I've only been here for the bellydance shows, I don't drink or do bars really. So this is kind of biased. I haven't even been in the bar section or outside, only in the back where the stage is.
The food is...ok. It's bar food. At least they offer some veg selections, which is actually impressive for a bar I guess.
Every other time (save this last time) I've been there, the bathrooms flood. That kind of puts me off.
If I were a bar person I might go here regularly but I'm not, and I'm rarely in Golden, but it's an OK place I guess.

Eff this place. They served the worst chili I have ever eaten. Their buffalo burger was tasty upon consumption, but within 30 minutes I had a crazy stomachache that lasted around 3 hours. Gross.
Plus in their gift shop they sold a bumper sticker that read: "I'd rather eat shit than ride a Jap (brushstroke letters) bike." I understand this is a biker bar of sorts, but what...the...fuck.
    I'll never come here again.

Great Location, Fun Staff, Awesome Music.
What a cross of people who come into this cool place. Biker bar meets Key West/blue grass patio meets tourist town meets family gathering spot meets college bar meets white table cloth blues shows.
What surprised me was the incredible line up of Blues artists that have shows at this diamond in the ruff.

The food is decent (but that is not what draws). The atmosphere is what makes this place rock!

Buffalo Rose has been around forever, and the building is something like 150 years old. It can feel about that old inside, but that's part of the appeal given its place in downtown Golden.

I've been here a few times and every time you can expect a big slice of America to be represented- Mines students, bikers, cowboys, and me, who is definitely none of those things. My first reason for liking this place is that they had a lightening fast Ms. Pacman machine, (laugh if you must, but if you love the game and have played a slow machine, well, you're probably nodding right along with me). Unfortunately they reset it, but luckily we have our own now, so they're forgiven. They also have an original Super Mario Bros. machine, I mean, come on. And air hockey and  pool and all that.

One deceptive thing about this place is that there is a very large music hall in the back of the bar, and they have live music pretty much all the time. In fact, even with the huge array of people who frequent this place, if you want to be alone or have a conversation and be heard, you can easily find some space. They have a very pleasant patio that also has live music.

And of course, the booze is cheap. They have an ongoing burger, fries, PBR special for $5. I haven't had a real burger here, but i have had a veggie burger, and strangely it was one of the best veggie burgers I've had in a restaurant. So if you find yourself in Golden and just want a frill-free drink, I definitely think this is a good place to go.

This place used to be the hot spot in town.  They had a really great ladies night on Thursdays but they stopped.  The patio is nice in the summer time, if the music isn't too loud.

They have a huge music venue, but most of the time, I'll go in to check out whats going on at the Buff and only 5 or 6 people will be back there watching.  I feel bad for the bands.

Good drink specials most nights, if only people wanted to go there, it would be a better place to hang out.

I've been to the Buffalo Rose Saloon twice now, and it never disappoints.  They have a good selection of beer on tap, the drinks are cheap, the bartenders are friendly, and they have a $2 claw machine full of live lobsters - if you catch one they'll cook it!  If i lived closer, i'd come here a lot more often.  I've never tried the food, but it smells good, so that's a start.  According to some signs on the wall they have all sorts of activities going on during the week - open mic night, trivia night, karaoke night, etc.

the bar itself is pretty cool with lots of animal heads and old west saloon-themed decorations.  the patrons are all shapes and sizes.  and besides, where else can you go to (potentially) eat a lobster for $2??

This place has live music everyday!!! That's a plus for me, having live music brightens up the atmosphere, gets people to enjoy more themselves, I'm always up for that.

Food is like any general biker bar, no fancy stuff, most of the menu is deep fried, but what they serve is good. Had chicken quesadillas, they were a liitle bit greasier than normal, but good cheese inside; had some cheese fries that were also good. Had the 1/2 lb buffalo burger, it was good.

I was expecting more Coors products being on the same street.

Buffalo Rose, or "The Buff" as locals call it, is a great place to go after a long shift at work.  If you're a tequila fan then this is your watering hole, they offer over fifty types of tequila.  And the best part?  If you take the last shot from any bottle of tequila, you get to keep the bottle!

Green Chili is amazing, Breakfast is lacking, and the onion rings are amazing.  And the Reuben is really good too.  The waitstaff is nice enough, but the service sure could be better.  Your best bet is to sit at the bar, they offer food service at the bar too.

So we finally got out on the patio this afternoon to enjoy some sunshine,  live music and under-$2 domestic drafts for Happy Hour - SO MUCH FUN!  We will be living here every Friday afternoon for the summer!  Oh, and you gotta try their housemade potato chips with spicy cheese dip ... Yum!

We came here after spending a few hours at the Old Capitol grill across the street. I liked the feel of the bar walking in, dark but nice chairs and not too loud.  We were a big party and they were able to accommodate us and put us in the pool table area.

We spent a few hours here and had a great time. We got a few pitchers, which were reasonably priced (most expensive was $9!). We were loud and roucous and the servers generally left us alone.  They weren't that busy for a Saturday night, but it sometimes took the server a while to bring drinks or our check, when the time came, but that wasn't a huge problem. Our server was attentive without being up our butt, which I appreciate too.

I look forward to coming back during the summer and sitting out on the patio!

Who are all these people that get to sit out on a sunny patio at 2:00 p.m. on a Thursday, drinking, smoking and dancing to live music? If I weren't on vacation I'd be slaving away at work, so I have a valid excuse, but this place was filled with pony-tailed, tattooed townies living it up. They seemed to be having a great time and this seems like the place where everybody knows your name if you stick around long enough. The food was standard bar fare and nothing to write home about. The iced tea came from the Coca Cola company, not fresh brewed as I would've hoped. The burger was fine but the pasta salad had too much mayo. I have to admit, we splurged on the mozzarella and I think it's impossible to go wrong with deep-fried, breaded cheese. This was definitely a cultural experience watching all the regulars do their thing and turn all day into "happy hour."

OK, it's about time I chime in on the 'Buff. If you're not a chain-smoking, leather-clad biker you'll feel a little out of place - but still be welcome. That's the fun thing about the joint: it's the picture of Colorado diversity. When the sun's shining and the live music's advertising the party on the patio, you'll see lycra-clad road bikers (the pedal variety) rubbing shoulders with the aforementioned Harley dudes. Even the occasional sandal-clad Boulderite has been spotted. Decent burgers, reasonably priced beers, and live music.

our quest for rocky mountain oysters serendipitously landed us at the buffalo rose, a former rec hall turned restaurant/live music venue. they even have a swimming pool in the basement. as the menu states, these oysters are "not from the ocean, but straight from the bull!" they're battered, fried and come with marinara sauce. not very flavorful but had an interesting chewy texture. the half pound buffalo cheeseburger with bacon was a bit gamey but still very moist and delicious.

just stopped through for lunch. very quiet. waitress was very nice and helpful. cant comment on how it's at night or as a music venue.

(my mom was up and shakin a tail feather, fun and funny!)
