Buffalo Joe's is an Evanston institution and definitely the best wings in the Chicago area.  Bj's serves up mild, spicy and suicide.  The suicide wings are made spicy by adding jalapenos to them.  An orange sauce and then deep fried to perfection!

This location is only about five minutes from Welsh-Ryan Arena, Ryan Field and downtown Evanston.  It's a perfect place to grab some grub before watching the Cats on the grid iron or hardwood.  Hence the name, this location also has fried seafood and gumbo on the menu.  Catfish anyone?  It mostly a takeout location with about five counter seats.

I miss my Joe's!  When I lived in Evanston, I probably came here about once per week.  If you don't like wings, they also have loaded baked potatoes, awesome chili, cheap but amazing burgers, and dogs and chicken sandwiches.  Definitely a better fast food option than the national chains.

I no longer go here for the wings. The other reviewers are dead on, the wings are so small and not to good. I don't know what happened because they used to be really good.
I now go there for the fish sandwich, Gumbo and burgers. The fish sandwich has two breaded fish fillets on a really good bun with lettuce tomato and cheese, love it! The smallish burgers remind me of Bills drive in, also very good. Excellent gumbo and corn chowder. Decent salads too. Call ahead. Sometimes the order takers aren't too interested in what their doing. There is a small counter and a couple chairs to eat in if you must but it's mostly a take out joint.Try the fish stay away from the wings.

    This is just plain sad.

I went to NU five years ago, and loved to get wings from the Buff Joe's on Clark.  Their cheddar chips are out of this world.  So like Jennifer T., i decided to change it up tonight.  It took 20 minutes to get my food--at 8:30 at night with only two people in front of me.  The wings were tiny little nuggets, seriously 1 1/2 inches each.  They weren't properly sauced at all.  And the cheddar chips were soggy fries covered in Cheez Whiz.  Moral of the story, DO NOT go here.  Go to the one a mile away.   You'll be glad you did.

If you like yourself, DO NOT go to this Buff Joes.  I am a loyal Clark St Buffalo Joes fan, but the Green Bay location is not the same.  Not even a little.  We have tried this Buff Joes three times now and never have we had a good experience.  I think this last (and final) run pretty much sums it all up.  We ordered two single mild wings with a bowl of spicy sauce on the side and one order of spicy cheddar fries.  We got 2 double orders of mild wings and a bowl of mild sauce.  We did not get the side of fries, but we did get a side of food poisoning.
It hurts just thinking about it.  We should have known...the wings were dry and kind of crusty.  I remember thinking to myself "hmm...these do not look delicious."  Hindsight is always 20/20, right?!  Needless to say, not only did they get our order wrong, we have also both spent the last 2 days in the bathroom.  Damn you Green Bay Rd Buff Joes...

I should have known better. I've been going to the one downtown Evanston on Clark St. since I was a kid and for some reason I thought getting wings here for the Superbowl would be OK.  I have rarely gone to this location but thought the wings would be at least the same. I know some of the food is not as good and the menu is slightly different (like on Howard), but the Clark St. location was jam packed for wing orders. So, I bit the bullet and got them from Green Bay. Opened up the wing tray when I got home and was so disappointed! Wow, these wings are tiny...baby friggin' chicken wings. And, they were not sauced properly. I should have got sauce on the side. How does the owner of Buff Joes allow the Green Bay and Howard for that matter be so poor in comparison to the downtown location. Perhaps they are indepedently owned now.

This is just pathetic.  I have been here several times hoping that they will live up to the name, but it never happens at this location.  I'm done.  The so called wings are so small and sad that I ended up throwing half of them away.  I can honestly say that microwaved wings from Domino's are better.  DO NOT GO HERE no matter how much you are craving wings.
