Denver, CO
I did have one bad pizza here... Only because the pizza wasnt my cup of tea. It was a over powering basil pizza....
Besides that... This place is perfect. I have other pizzas and can not complain. They have great empanadas. The cheese and spinach empanada is worth changing my nationality from Ecuadorian to Argentinian. The vide there is perfect. Its chill and romantic. Perfect first date spot. Kid friendly aswell.
blah blah blah.... GO EAT!!!! -
Review from Linda T.
Definitely try the figs wrapped in bacon under the Small Plates section of their menu! Delicious!
I ordered the beef picante, spinach & cheese, and tuna & fresh tomato empanadas. I would get the beef picante and spinach & cheese again. The tuna was good but not good enough for me to give it another try. For only $2.50 each, these empanadas are a steal!
Servers are attentive and friendly! -

I had no idea that Buenos Aires was known for its pizza. I went for lunch with co-workers and really enjoyed it. Cute decor and fun music. I had a butternut squash empanada. My fellow diners had the chicken pesto and beef.
It was pretty empty during lunch and our server seemed a little annoyed that we weren't ready to order immediately. But the options are almost overwhelming! There are so many unique toppings.
We had the Rio Negro pizza (mozzarella, bacon, sliced pears & mint leaves) and the Alcahuete (Mozzarella, Artichoke, Fresh Basil, Fresh Tomato). Delicious! Wonderful crust that is thin, but still substantial and a little chewy.
After desert we ordered gelato. A different server (may have been a manager) came over to help us pick out gelato flavors. He was very helpful. I asked what "Sambayón" is - it's made with wine. I didn't end up ordering any and got Raspberry. He brought me a small dish of the Sambayón anyways because he said it would go well with the flavor I ordered. He was right & I can't wait to go back! -

It was a little confusing trying to find out how to get in. I guess the door furthest to the west is for Quick slices and what not. And i wanted the Eat in experience.
The host was sitting outside, and after a few questions being asked to determine my needs i was led inside. Love the Interior. Its bright and spacious with tables through out, so you dont feel cramped. Music is playing but its not overpowering, so you can still hold a decent conversation.
The menu is nicely laid out, and so many choices to choose from. They bring you bread thats sliced like an orange with butter and some dipping sauce which was a little overpowering. The butter could of came out in a cup not like what you find at a buffet, and a little more butter as well.
No soda fountain they bring you a cup with ice, and a bottle. My Pleasure was Mtn Dew. Not sure if you get free refills. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and had my choice of salad or fries. I probably should of ordered a salad as the fries were uninspiring. Some South American flair on them would of been nice.
The cuban sandwich with its tender pork and ham, the bread had the crunch you so desire. Fresh pickles which tasted sweet and salty and added to the yummlyness.
The servers are fast and efficient. Good food like this doesnt come quick. Not at a snail pace either. And it was worth the wait. The owner kept checking on me. LOVE THAT. And there is a banquet room downstairs where a party was going on.
Even with the party the noise level wasnt to loud. -

Nothing comes close to the level of authenticity that this place delivers. If you are looking for a traditional Argentine meal, this is the spot. The pizza is amazing and I love the fact that I can taste the basil over the garlic! And then there is dessert....incredible! The empanadas are over the top amazing. Being a fan of Argentina and this type of food, I would give it 10 stars if that was possible.

I love the food. The owner is great and is always willing to help us pick a good bottle of wine. I love the empanadas, bacon wrapped figs, and the buenes aires pizza ... oh, and of course the gelato. This is my favorite place to take out-of-town visitors.

I'd been meaning to try BAP for the longest time, and then was able to go during the Downtown Denver Lunch Club. And I liked it so much, I went there the next day with family.
The empanadas are so delicious! My favorite was the spinach and cheese, with the ham, tomato and blue cheese being next in line. My family all loved their empanadas. We had a gluten free gal with us and she really enjoyed the sandwich she got. It was a chicken and pesto combination, minus the cheese. Poor girl, no gluten and no dairy. She was really happy with her lunch, though. And the dipping sauce served with the bread to start is awesome; all herby and a little spicy. Ask for gluten free bread to dip, if you want.
I know I'll be back here again!Listed in: Review It, 2012!, Where I Hide From My Job, Cheap Dates, Call 751-1111, ROTD

We go here about once a week to pick up empenadas to bake at home, but have eaten in the restaurant as well. The staff is great and the authentic Argentinian food cannot be beat. This place is a must stop if you have a homesick Argentinian in your crew or you just love empenadas, they are as good as they get here!

Favorite reason to go to Buenos Aires Pizzeria is their great menu of empanadas. The chicken sun dried tomato pesto empanada is my favorite although the chorizo one is a close second. Pizzas are great too..the crust is thicker than what I usually go for but it is not too heavy and with just the right crunch. I tried tonight the chorizo, red pepper jalapeño option and found it delicious.
I've always had it to go...15 minutes wait for warm pizza and empanadas, a stop at Mr B's for wine and beer and off to enjoy a meal at home.
They also have gelato which I've heard raves about and they sell Yerba mate -
Review from Cheryl L.
I really liked the empanadas here. The staff was friendly and service was quick.
I tried the one with ham and egg and it was darn tasty. I like the fact that they are very reasonably prices that you can order a few different ones and give them all a taste over time. If you have someone with you that is willing to share you can order twice as many and try a few more.
I loved the bread that they serve when you first get there. The dipping sauce is really good as well. Not just your standard oil or vinegar but a nice blend of herbs to go along with it. And I like the fact that they let it sit for a bit to allow the flavors to marry so that you don't get a mouth full of raw herbs.Listed in: Yelp 2012 - 100 Reviews…

after all the empanada talk i heard about this place i was let down terribly... the pizzas were good though and we also had a couple pitchers of sangria. The sangria was defiantly not some of the best that i have had in my life but not to bad. I tried 4 different empanads and only one (sun dried tomato and cheesy pesto i think) was not dry.
I was also disappointed to find out they are pre-made and not fresh... -

Mmmmmmmm....empanadas.
We should be going to this place far more often given it's proximity to home as well as bars I like (Star Bar, Great Divide, etc). A tad confusing as it's an Argentinian pizza place and the pizza offerings are more than a little overwhelming. If you're a pizza purist, you might not like this place. If you're willing to forgive forgettable, thicker crust in lieu of crrrrrrazy toppings, this just might be your kind of joint. They have pizza with eggs and a pizza with jalepenos, mint and pineapple (don't knock it till you try it). The menu has pretty much all of the standards but a few not-so-standards that make the pizza stand out.
The true star here, however, is the empanadas. They have no fewer than seven varieties of veggie empanadas, so we ordered one of each. The eggplant empanada was obviously right up my alley, but a surprising favorite was the bleu cheese and onion. They also have a margherita flavor which is my favorite pizza in empanada form. At $2.25 a piece, you have a filling meal for two for about $15. They also bring out warm bread and chimichurri sauce.
The space itself is small and nice enough for a date night but comfortable/laid back enough for an I-don't-feel-like-cooking-night. In this case, we were hanging out at Whiskey Bar, were hungry and came here. It was a nicer dining experience at bar food prices for sure.
If you'e ever in the area, it's definitely worth a visit. -

Gluten free & dairy free pizza?? Ok so I know you don't put those two together when you order a pizza but seriously OMG do it here!!!! (We just subed out all the cheese off our pizza and got the gluten free crust.) It was a very tasty crust, and it was loaded wtih toppings galore that just ... I don't have a word to describe this... awesome!
Second trip back delivered just as good as the first!Listed in: Give me yummy AND gluten free

WONDERFUL Place to eat. I am very familiar with the taste of Argentina and this restaurant hit the spot!
The service was INCREDIBLE, my waitress was fantastic. Knowledgable about the food and even gave us history about all of the pictures in the restaurant. I would definitely go back for the service, and the food was wonderful too. -

The Best! This place was recommended to us by our mechanic and I am so glad we listened. Our pizza was great and the combination of toppings are very unusual. We had bacon, pears and fresh mint on ours. It was surprisingly delicious. The pizza crust is heavier than American pizza crust. Theirs is more like bread but it was really good. We also tried a couple empanadas and those were pretty good, too. I really liked the blue cheese and onion. We will be telling all of our friends about this place.

Whenever I walk in I'm transported to a dimly lit Argentinian cafe. Sip on sangria while you chat with francis the owner, he'll kiss your hand as if you're a maiden. Flirting aside, the man knows how to make a mean empanada. Try them all once to weed out your favorite. Then mix it up with a canastita, or an open faced empanada. The salads round it all out to make it a delicious meal. Cherry on top of it all? Gelato. Freaking good gelato.
Ps perfect date spot guys, if you can handle competing with francis. ;) -

Maybe I have a bias of some sort. I come from the midwest, and have frequented Chicago. I currently live in Connecticut, where the pizza heritage is quite long (Frank Pepe's nearby first opened its doors in 1925).
With that being said, I can't imagine a world where the Pizza served at Buenos Aires is tolerable. We ordered two pizzas. One was a prosciutto style, and one was the "most popular" Argentina style pizza (artichokes, boiled eggs, etc).
Regardless, the toppings could not save either pizza. The crust was edible, but that was about it. Thick doughy crust that reminds one of those cheap dorm pizzas you had in school. If I had to guess, this crust was mass manufactured somewhere because I've had it before at pizza buffets and dorms, and my companies cafeteria.
I didn't try any of the other items (empanads, etc) nor did we eat in the restaurant itself (it was a take out order).
We are considering moving to Denver area, and I hope that Denver has a pizza place a lot better than this one. And to any reviewer who thinks this is good pizza. ..I'm afraid you haven't traveled enough. -
Review from Doug Y.
This place is sooo right! How can so many downtown people be sooo wrong? We went down to join some of our yelp buddies (Thanks Kate!) for lunch and there were only a couple of other people in there? WTH! Have downtown people lost all sense of what is right (to eat that is)? I wouldn't know for sure but I can imagine that the (yeesh) fast food places downtown probably had their lines of the mindless and tasteless masses qeued up and that makes me sad... Geez! For the price of one of those horrible fast food fixes you could have had a couple delicious empanadas or a salad or... or... wake up! Quit the mindless/tasteless masses club and jump on the flavor bandwagon people! Aaaahhhh it's like talking to a brick friggin' wall!

This place is DELICIOUS!
I grew up in Cordoba, Argentina, so I know what Argentine food is supposed to look like, taste like, and just overall be like... This place rocks it.
Buenos Aires is definitely a different environment from the rest of Argentina, but the food sure is the same. This place hits it on the head with EVERYTHING.
The empanadas are delectable and remind me so much of Argentina. The milanesas are superb, the chorizo is homemade and everything I remembered, and everything else is just... WOW! What can you say when everything is so delicious?
The owner is pure Argentine- I LOVE IT.
The waiters are on top of it and so very courteous, the food came out promptly and hot, and the environment is homey, yet chic and "hole in the wall" feeling.
If you live in or near Denver and you haven't been here yet, better get over there quick... You'll wonder why you never tried it before. -

Seriously, if you haven't eaten an empanada from Buenos Aires yet you're just doing yourself a disservice...
Butternut Squash
Chorizo
Corn
Spinach and cheese
Any of the 20 varieties offered will just taste so good once it hits your lips that you'll be back for more, more, more.
Bonus, they are close enough to El Charrito (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) that you can take them to go and wash them down with cheap, cheap bevvies. Ahhhh, this is the good life.Listed in: The Five Points Neighborhood…, Pizza in Denver, Eating Around Coors Field, Empanadas in Denver

So wow, just wow! W to the W, MoM upside down, WOW!
The empenadas are superior, flaky, buttery pastry encapsulating various combinations of tremendous fillings. I had the peppercorn beef and the ham and cheese!
The fries with garlic are authentic potatoes with perfect spices, served super hot! The caprese salad is stupendous fresh and full of flavor.
The owner is gracious and attentive, with a touchy-feely back rub thatis friendly and genuine.
Lastly the atmosphere is charming, but I'd pick a weeknight if you are looking for romance. Weekends tend to be loud and rowdy, despite the Argentinian mystique. -
Review from Justin A.
Buenos Aires Pizza was okay.
First, the empanadas didn't taste fresh at all. This was a huge turnoff right away. The6 tasted dry and like they were just warmed up in a microwave.
For pizza, my girlfriend and I ordered a cheese pizza with ham and some other ingredients. Now, the one way to judge an authentic Buenos Aires Pizza, if the pizza has an olive on each slice. This place did not do that.
Looking past that, the pizza was nothing special and even a little soggy.
The only good thing about this meal was the delicious Dolce De Leche gelato. Yum.
I will go back to try BsA pizza again. It wasn't bad, but didn't stand out either. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing. -
Review from Barb B.
I cannot even count the number of times I've driven by Buenos Aires Pizzeria, I would say it's easily in the hundreds. I was always curious about it but now that I am a fancy Yelper, and knew it was awesome, I had been dying to check it out! I finally made it on Saturday evening for salad and pizza, and I would have to say it met or exceeded my high expectations. As others have mentioned the pizza is different. I wouldn't call the crust think per se but it's definitely not thin. It is also oddly sweet, and since I love all sweet things, I loved it. I would say it is like a way better version of CPK crust. The cheese was quite copious and I do love melted cheese more than almost anything so that was great.
The salads were really tasty as well and I really can't wait to go back and try another pizza - I think they had about 50 varieties which is insane! And awesome. Some of them sounded pretty out there but still, I am adventurous!
My only complaint, and it's not even really as strong as that, with this place is that the service situation is confusing. It seems like all the servers wait on all the tables which is just strange to me because I am used to having one server. So that was just discombobulating but not a bad thing. It definitely wouldn't stop me from coming back for some more delicious and unique pizza from Buenos Aires Pizzeria. -

This is my FAVORITE restaurant in Denver.
Its the flavor of everything.
I love that I walk in, it feels like you walk into a different country's restaurant. I never feel rushed. The service isn't a fake friendly, but always sincere and efficient. They wait tables as a team.
As you've probably read already, the empanadas are amazing (my personal favorites are the blue cheese, tomato and ham as well as artichoke canastita).
If you haven't read it yet, you must have the figs wrapped in bacon in a zippy bbq sauce - higos envueltos. Dip the bread in the bbq sauce. You'll be surprised at the hidden spice. One of the best things I've ever had in my life, if not the best thing.
My husband go to this restaurant with out-of-town friends because of how good it is - never a bad review.
We also go for special occasions because we can sit and eat higos envueltos, empanadas, drink wine and finish it with delicious gelato and cappuccino all not feeling rushed. -

This is probably my favorite pizza in all of Denver. The Buenos Aires Pizza is FANTASTIC. We also got a Veggie Canastita as an appetizer, and that was ridiculously good, also. Has a really unique feel to the restaurant, also.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. -

You could dedicate a year of your life to exploring the menu here. Their pizzas range from the familiar "Mozzarella, Fresh Tomato, Garlic, Basil" (19. Margarita) to the bizarre sounding blend of flavors that is the Chapita (40. Mozzarella, Pineapple, Jalapeo, Fresh Mint Leaves).
And then the empanadas, and the gelato! Oh boy!
My partner and I were looking for a light lunch and were able to split a small pizza with a few slices left to take home.
I'll definitely enjoy going back soon! -

I love empanadas and was so excited when this placed opened up. Tried their pizza, but for me this place is ALL about the empanadas. We had it there, we had it to go, we took them home to freeze, we had it for lunch, we had it for dinner. With so many flavors at just $2 for each flaky goodness, the value just can't be beat.
Unfortunately for me, I haven't found anything in Phoenix that remotely resembles this place. I miss it terribly. -
Review from Laura L.

I would call myself a thin-crust girl most any night of the week. But when I go to BAP, I totally dig on that thicker crust 'za. Yum, yum, yum. I love that you can get olive oil as a naked-style sauce, that you can make halfsies of any of their house pizzas, and their empanadas? Fuhggedaboutit!
On my last visit it was an empanada extravaganza, and it's hard to say which one we liked best. We sampled the butternut squash, spinach and cheese, beef, and tuna/tomato. Tuna sounds weird, right? Yeah. But it was sooo good. I also have to give a shout out to the bacon-wrapped figs in bbq sauce. Again, it may sound strange but that sauce was divine. Even though I don't typically eat my crusts, I was dipping it in the sauce and even considered asking for a spoon to get the last little bits out of the bowl.
I've heard people sing praises about the gelato, and hopefully on my next visit I'll leave enough room to check it out.
Note: Folks with nut allergies beware - the chimichurri sauce served at the table and with bread contains nuts. So sniff it, but don't eat it.Listed in: Pizza Pizza, Local Gifting, Awesome Appetizers, Bacon!, Stardom!

I had it all planned out; order a pizza, eat half and save half for munchies later. Then the chivito sandwich entered my life...
I'm glad I skipped the pizza because the chivito was so good (free-range skirt steak, Swiss cheese, Ham, fried eggs and some veggies). Stuffed and satisfied!
I ordered a beef empanada for an appetizer; it was okay. I wouldn't get it again.
The chivito comes with fries or a salad; I chose a salad and glad I did because the house dressing was delicious. It also comes with bread.
A bottle of DPA (Great Divide's Denver Pale Ale) was a great start to the meal.
They were very busy but the wait staff tried doing their best and made sure everything was okay. The owner warmly embraced all the new patrons coming in (comes up to you, hand around shoulders, asks you how you are doing, etc.; very nice) and checked by every table to see if everything was okay. When the restaurant is small and you dine alone, you notice these things =)
Useful info
#1 No additional cost parking lot across the street
#2 Take-out option (left) and dine-in restaurant (right)
#3 Only one pizza size available (you can also do slices) -

With menu options that resemble a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant (I'll take # 275 please), I was nervous when I started flipping pages. Pizzas and empanadas with every topping and every combination imaginable abounded.
And when I took my first bite of #27, I was a permenent convert. This is hands down the best and most interesting pizza I've had in Denver. The ambience is great (transports you 5,000 miles south to Recoleta), the prices are right, and the service fantastic.

OMG those freaking empanadas!
This place is unique on the Denver scene. The pizza was decent, but the empanadas!! Hot, cheap and offered in near-overwhelming variety...these are what make this place worth repeat visits.
It may have helped BA's cause that I spent the preceding hours at the Great Divide Tap Room...but I'm not gonna hold that against them! -
Review from Randi F.
Dear Buenos Aires Pizzeria,
Your empanadas are great. Just great. Flaky crust, piping hot fillings. I tried the ham & cheese and margerita varieties. Just want you to know I could have eaten 8 of those little gooey ham & cheese babies. I'm craving them right now.
Now for your pizza. I don't think I'l be having it again. The sauce was good, the toppings were fresh, but you lost me at the crust. Thick and flavorless, it's just not for me. If your crust was thinner, this would be a 5 star review.
I'll be back for those empanadas.
Love,
Randi -

Discovering the brewery where we wanted to have lunch was closed, we opted for this place. Our disappointment did not last. We shared a pizza and washed it down with a couple of beers. The pizza was very tasty in the way where the key ingredients are applied as to make them stand out without heaping then on into overkill. We ordered a medium (there were 2 of us) thinking we'd take the rest home. Much to our surprise we ate the entire thing! Though we were stuffed we still decided to share the tres leches cake for dessert (nuts, I know). Our plan was just to taste it to compare with others we've had....not a crumb remained.
This is a small gem of a place. It wasn't until after we ate there we saw all the rave reviews for the empanadas. Next time...
Oh and the man who works there (owner/manager, I don't know) had this sexy accent that made me want to keep asking questions just so he'd keep talking!
This place will undoubtedly get us as return customers. -
Review from Bobby T.
We have been wanting to try BA Pizzeria for quite some time...since I read about it on the Post's website when I was living far from Denver for a year. Our friends had already been here, and they were bugging us to go with them, so we finally found the perfect night to go. After a great day of skiing, we met up at BA for some grub.
First of all, we each ordered an empenada to share. I had the chicken margarita, my wife the blue cheese and onion. Our friends ordered the chorizo and the margarita to round out the lot. Each one of them was fantastic! I would never think to have blue cheese and onion in an empenada, but it was fabulous. The blue cheese was not too strong, which is fine by me.
Then we moved onto the pizza. We shared the Buenos Aires (with ham, hearts of palm, red pepper, and hard boiled egg) and the one with bacon and corn on it. Sweet Baby Jesus were they good! Plenty of cheese, and the toppings, oh the toppings. They sound odd, but damn they were good. Apparently, the hard boiled egg is shredded onto the pizza or something like that, because I expected big round slices and saw none. And the bacon and corn pizza was like an awesome corn muffin wrapped in bacon and then covered with mozzerella.
Unfortunately, no one had room for dessert. Next time, and probably the time after that...and after that... -

The empanada's here are AMAZING! Seriously hurry yourself in, grab a table and order a few. I haven't eaten anything else here in my two trips but there truly isn't anything else you need to eat! I highly recommend the ham and cheese, corn, mushroom and pepper or spinach and cheese. They're all delicious so whatever sounds good will most likely taste good! The service here is awesome as well, they're super friendly and relatively quick AND they can tell apart the empanadas even when they bring out a giant tray! Can't wait for my next trip here.

Oh my gosh, the gelato here is amazing! I got a scoop of the almond and tried some of my friend's strawberry, but wish I had gotten 10 scoops instead and ruined the long hike we had just finished. Actually, I wish this restaurant was closer to me so I could go everyday! Yum!
