In 1968, Bud Phipps started a family tradition with a pickup truck and a chainsaw. Today we still serve many of Bud's original clients, as well as property managers, large contractors, railroad interests, HOAs, local governments, churches, and homeowners throughout the tri-county region. Our success began long before there was an internet. Word-of-mouth based on customer satisfaction has been, and remains our primary source of new business. Ask your neighbors about us, you'll be pleased with what you hear.

Q:
Is there an email address or website? Do they do tree work in Vacaville?
A:
Their website is www.1800cuttree.com. I am not sure of servicing Vacaville, but I am sure if you send an inquiry or call them, they'd be happy to talk to you.

Communication from Bud's was excellent from quote to completing the job (pruning oak tree). Joe was the only estimator who looked under, around and pointed out specific areas of what needed to be done and explained the why's. Their pricing was reasonable too. My yard was spotless when they were finished. Give them a call, you won't regret it.

Ryan deserves 5 stars for being so professional, kind, and not pushy at all. He took his time to give us a quote for pruning and taking out some trees, and while we were still on the fence on a few things, he gladly added estimates so we could think about it further before moving forward.
When we finally made a decision, he actually notified us of an opening for the very next day. He greeted us with a smile early in the morning and instructed the trimmers on what needed to be done.
During the entire project, everything seemed to be going well. It was when the crew was finished that things weren't so great, particularly with the main trimmer.
We had our front tree pruned, and I simply asked the trimmer "is it recommended to keep the limbs hanging over the house?" His response was "I've been doing this for 18 years. I could cut it if you want, but it would be lop-sided. This kind of irked me because I was just asking for his professional opinion. I don't care to know how long someone has been doing something if I'm specifically asking for their advice.
I looked around our backyard and noticed a big pile of leaves/sawdust in two corners. I asked if it would they could clean those areas up since they have the leaf blowers. The trimmer remarked that his guys should've done that but they were all just sitting in their trucks waiting to leave. He ended up doing it himself, which I was grateful for, but as he walked over to clean the areas up, he muttered "oh yeah, boss, it's all clean", seemingly mocking his own crew.
When he finally finished, I handed over the check and asked if I could get a receipt. He responded with "well, don't you have the quote? There you go." Yes, I did have the signed quote, but that's not documentation of payment. I was so annoyed at this point with him that I just disregarded it and let him go.
After the entire crew left, I looked at our backyard again, and one of the corners was not cleaned up. Larger pieces of twigs (not the thin ones that could easily get mowed up) were still on our front lawn, so I had to pick all of those up so it wouldn't damage our gardener's lawn mower. And I even had to clean up our neighbor's yard because they failed to clean up twigs and branches on their side as well. Mind you, I do not expect every twig and leaf to be cleaned up, but there were some smaller branches and thicker twigs all over the place. I even ended up raking up two decent-sized piles of leaves because they just blew the leaves around without really cleaning them up.
While they did what was asked of them, I really didn't appreciate the mess they left and the attitude.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Tony P.Berkeley, CA19349Apr 7, 2022
Came out quickly for an estimate. Kept in contact on availabilities. Then had a guy out to cut out my stump for the flat fee of $200. Instead of using the grinder he dug it out further and cut it out with a chainsaw and hauled the stump away. Good and fast stump removal.
Don't waste money and effort trying to get those dang stumps out yourself. We wasted half a year digging, drilling holes, pouring stump killer, sawing off roots for them to just come in with a chainsaw and deal with it in 45 minutes lol.

Chris was quick to estimate the project but was super unprofessional and didn't want to actually do the job as he canceled the project due to a scheduling conflict on my end. Wouldn't recommend using them.

These guys just trashed all my beautiful tropical plants while trimming our two palm trees. Talked the the foreman, Jesus, about it and he just gave me a lot of attitude about it and said they were leaving. in the past we paid hundreds less to have this done and my other plants were not destroyed. Unfortunately our regular tree trimmer was gone on vacation. He had never done this. He used a rope to lower the pods so they didn't crush everything. Jesus said they never do this. they just drop everything into your flower beds, smashing everything. they destroyed about 6 banana trees that were between 4-8 feet tall, all my white ginger plants and some other tropical plants. I will try to add pictures. In one picture you can see my neighbors house which used to be totally hidden by my banana trees.
My next door neighbor just came over to tell me that they broke a couple of branches on his fig tree. They were just throwing palm fronts to the ground and some were going on my neighbors roof and yard.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cully J.Sacramento, CA01412Aug 6, 2021
We just had a couple of tall cypress trees removed, and my neighbors got some pruning done on a tall Chinese Elm, by Bud's Tree Service. Bud's Tree Service sent out a team of knowledgeable, efficient, hard-working people to do the work. Bud's team did the stump grinding, and they hauled away the trees. This business is top-notch. They have arborists and tree-passionate people who know their stuff. We highly recommend them.
Oh, and the attitude of the entire team was so positive!! How wonderful!! They were helpful, full of knowledge and friendly advice, and just all-around great. Bud's has an excellent reputation, and we are so glad we hired them.
Bud's price was reasonable, and goodness, they were so efficient.
Bud's has all of the necessary equipment (and highly skilled tree professionals) to do any type of tree work. Yay! We couldn't be happier with the work of Bud's team. I want to repeat that the attitude of these tree professionals made all the difference. Skilled professionals who work well as a team... We made the right choice in hiring Bud's.
Thank you to Ryan Shular, arborist, who came to the house initially to give us an estimate; we scheduled the work, and he assembled this awesome team for the work. Thank you also to Mark, the awesome tree expert with whom we've worked before, who was part of the team that came out; it was nice to see Mark again!
Tree removal is a bigger job than some might think. Hire these professionals and you'll be glad you did! Whether you need an arborist, or any kind of tree work: We recommend Bud's!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - W S.Folsom, CA010541Jul 28, 2021Updated review
We've been working with Bud's for a few years now and they never disappoint. We have about a dozen large redwoods and several large blue oaks they've helped us care for.
They are always detailed and really listen to what we ask for regarding tree trimming. They are skilled and always do a thorough job while preserving the privacy our trees provide.
Highly recommended-wish all home maintenance was this easy :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you being a such a loyal customer and giving the company such a wonderful review.
Feb 6, 2020Previous reviewWe were moving to a property with lots of trees and were assured a dead oak would be addressed before close of escrow. Unfortunately, it was not handled and we were left to find a company for the removal and of course the bill.
Stacy bid the tree removal on a Monday and had a crew to do the job three days later. The price was fair and the employees were polite, they even swept our driveway.
Thank you to Stacy for making this process painless.
I appreciate companies that care about service and still thank you for your business.
Happy to be customers. - 58113117Mar 2, 2020
Doug came out and gave us an estimate and it was a price I knew couldn't be beat. We didn't bother getting any other estimates, plus we wanted to support a local business. Doug came out this morning with his crew and arrived on schedule. Great group of guys - super courteous and friendly. Our ugly tree was gone in a little over an hour. I was surprised how fast these guys got it done. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use them again.

Very happy with Bud's Tree Service! They planted a gorgeous maple tree in our front lawn. They called two days ago, quoted us yesterday and the tree was planted today!
Efficient, hard-working and a great value.
Thank you!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 33201108Aug 6, 2018
In the end, Bud's did a good job for a good price. The estimator/crew boss (Chris) was good at scheduling service quickly and following-up with appointments and issues. I contacted Bud's to trim my silver maple, including removing a lot of dead stuff. While Chris was here for the estimate, he also recommended removal of a tallow and fig tree that have begun to get out of control and were starting to damage my patio.
I had to have them come back out a second time because they left one big dead piece in the maple that should have been removed. But, Chris agreed right away they should have gotten it the first time and in the end the tree looks really good. Their clean-up of my yard wasn't great, but not bad enough to complain about - I just needed to pick up some small branches and re-blow the patio and furniture.
I like that they are a West Sac business. I most likely will use them again.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
