This was the worst customer service by far that I have ever received from start to finish. I made a reservation online, and the following morning was told the truck was not available. No problem, it happens. When I asked what would happen to the charge I made online, was told that they would not charge anything on the account. Good. One week later, received a $50 charge on my account. Called American Rent and spoke to the rudest most abnoxious man I've ever spoken to, who did not let me finish a sentence and in the end said he didn't do anything and to call 800gobudget. Furious with the way I was treated, called the 800 # and was told he did not cancel the reservation as he should have...I guess that's what he meant by not "doing anything." Lazy ass! I have rented party tables/chairs several times over the years at this place, but NO MORE! I will never step foot in this place again. Take it from me go elsewhere...there's a Uhaul in Winnetka (corner of sherman way & winnetka) that's pretty good and very accomodating.

The establishment is fairly shady looking and the staff is incompetent and unprofessional. We had a hard time finding the place, because the Budget Truck rentals are around the back of the building. The front store has a dining room set display and it appears this business rents a lot of strange things to customers. There were two women in their teens or early 20s and neither was dressed appropriately for work. One was dressed like she was going to the mall. After finding the budget truck office, which was empty and featured blaring classic rock music, one of the girls came in to ask us about our reservation. Apparently they didn't have what we reserved weeks earlier. After leaving and calling Budget directly, a smarmy man with a pinky ring and an undone tie tells me that they did have what we reserved, but they apparently found out by accident. Their instructions on operating the vehicle and setting up the tow dolly were minimal and occasionally incorrect. Very unprofessional.
