this was the most disgusting POS vehicle I have ever driven. this wasn't a typical budget rent-a-truck truck. apparently this location is owned by Peninsula Truck Rental and that was the logo on the truck they rented to me. luckily, I have a commercial driver's license and some experience driving large vehicles (trucks, busses, etc) because if I didn't I would've been in trouble. this was a truck-driver's truck (if you know what I mean). I couldn't drive more than 25mph without it shaking + shimmying. the cab was disgustingly dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke and (quite possibly) bodily fluids. the box of the truck was even worse, as though homeless people had taken up residence in it. it was filled with dirt and debris. if I hadn't been on a tight schedule I never would've taken it. ick! even after a shower I still feel dirty. oh, and the kicker is that I was charged twice as much as I was quoted on the telephone.
stay away. stay far, far away from Peninsula Truck Rental (a supposed Budget Truck Rental affiliate).
edit: 4/21/11 -- okay, not only did they give me a receipt for $69 for a $39 rental, but they hit my account for $350 (deposit?) plus $79 for the rental. bogus, bogus company.Comment from Gabriel S. of Budget Truck Rental 3/15/2012

Review from Jessica H.

We reserved a moving truck on Saturday, but when we arrived the shop was completely closed. We waited for 30 minutes, and we asked a neighboring business why the shop was closed. He tried calling the cell phone of the owner for emergencies as well as the office. No one answered. We then called Budget, but we were transferred 3 times and placed on hold for several minutes. We finally went to UHaul.
