Saturday agenda: two men and a truck to haul two pieces of heavy office equipment from Diamond Bar to Irvine.
Total cost of moving it ourselves: $110 including one day rental, mileage (@$.18/mile), insurance, and $40 tip. But a job done without injury to person or property - priceless.
In hindsight: inquire and get a ramp - your back will thank you. -

This is my first ever review written on Yelp, but I feel compelled to share this. I reserved a 26' Truck online for my move on Saturday Oct 1, and got a confirmation email stating "Your truck is reserved". But upon reading the fine print, it seems to indicate that its not really reserved, its nothing but a rate quote, and that the truck or the location are not at all guaranteed.
Today (16 hours before my move) I get a call from the local Newport each CA) Budget store where I reserved the truck and I was told "we don't have any trucks for you, I've called all around and none of the other dealers have any trucks for you, so you need to call 1-866-44budget and see if they can help you".
I called that number and they were both rude and condescending, telling me that the email I am reading isn't a reservation, but rather a rate quote only, even though the first words say "Your truck is reserved". This was straight out of a Seinfeld episode. They didn't seem to care about the situation, didn't offer any apology at all, and told me they would "Send an email to the Inventory Manager to see if he could find a truck somewhere"
Anyway, my move is tomorrow and I don't have a truck. I would give them zero stars if I could, because their reservation system is garbage and their concern for the inconvenience they've caused me was nil. Bottom line is, if they knew they didn't have any trucks they could have not taken the reservation, and/or called me sooner to let me make other plans. Budget sucks and I will never ever even look at their web site for a rental, because they simply don't reserve the truck at all, and you could be screwed and left holding the bag like I am. U-haul states your reservation is guaranteed or they will pay you $50. They don't play games by acting like your truck is reserved then at the last minute leaving you hanging. -

Budget truck rental SUCKS! I rented a truck from them that had a bad engine. Not only was the gas milage about 8 miles to the gallon, but the truck broke down at 10:00 am. Budget left me stranded as the last thing their rep told me at 9:00 pm was to find a motel. They would deal with the truck in the morning. After all was said and done. The move cost me double what I planned, and two extra days. Again I say budget SUCKS! Never rent from them!
