Walked into this place intending to purchase a hybrid bike and did so with ease. They weren't the least bit snooty over my novice status. They didn't have exactly what I was looking for but Tony was able to find it in a catalogue and have it shipped in a day! When it arrived he offered his expertise (as well as opinion as an avid biker) in helping me to find all the accessories I'd need to suit my biking needs, then had them installed on the spot, even knocked a few bucks off the total, big plus! LOVE my bike! Fast, friendly, and to the point. BAM!

Budget Pro Bikes, formerly Budget Bikes has been around a LOOOONG time. I have been a customer since since Heinz and his wife ran the store back on Pacific Ave in Glendale (and I was in elementary school). I got my 2nd bike there and they were always great over the years.
I believe the shop is now run by there son. Their mechanics are top notch and the service I've gotten there has always been great. -

I own three custom made road bikes, one of which travels around the world with me for work (for the past 14 years). Thus I have gotten to check out shops from the Crimea to Tokyo. What a cool surprise to move to Eagle Rock and discover Budget Pro Bicycles. It's a great shop, staffed and wrenched by folks who are really passionate about cycling. And if you are a novice, hybrid or cruiser rider, trust me, you won't be disrespected. Like others posting here, I have observed the sales and service staff treat everyone with care regardless of their experience level. The work they have done on my principal rider was excellent and their prices are great.

I went to this place because of the good reviews it got on Yelp, and may I say it was worth it.
I don't know the first thing about bikes and neither did my 12-year-old son. He was transitioning from a BMX and we were looking for something that would fit. The shop was really busy and someone told me that he'll be right back after one customer, and he came right back after a few minutes. He worked with me and my budget. He even assembled a new bike for my son when the one on display wasn't the right height for him. And while he was working on that, another person was quick to help me with the bike rack. And these guys were so patient as I had a million questions. To top it all, they gave me a discount at the counter without me even asking for it.
They were not elitists at all. I will definitely be back. -

This review is for the Service Department only considering I've brought my bike in twice to have it serviced, but I haven't bought anything.
Everyone here is VERY helpful, if you ask them questions. I know the first time I just kinda stood around and was hoping someone would come over and try to pry questions out of me, but they didn't. I guess this could be a bad or good thing. There are a lot of shoppers that like to browse before being asked if they can be helped, so I'm guessing this is their reasoning here. But if you do ask, they WILL answer your questions very thoroughly, which I thought was very nice.
The mechanics are super friendly and try to be as helpful as possible. They do their work in a very reasonable amount of time. I've taken in my bike to be tuned and other minor work, and it's always ready the next day.
I'm not all that knowledgeable about bikes, and when I left there, I didn't feel like I was ripped off. I love the comfortable feeling of customer satisfaction.
I wonder if they could restore my Knight Rider big wheel? -

2 other friends and I visited this bike shop today based on the reviews here on Yelp.
Well, either they were off their game today or they only really give preferential treatment to their regulars, because all of us walked around the store, together and separately, and we could not find one sales person who would interact with us. Let me just add, that no one even said hello.
Now, we all like to romanticize about the personal touch of the Mom & Pop type shops, but this is the exact reason why so many of these types of stores deserve to go out of business.
I happen to be in sales. And trust me, it all starts with the first hello. It's never up to the customer to say hello first. Even if we're not greeted at the door - someone needed to come over to at least one of us to say, I'll be with you in a few - just let us get things sorted out. But that didn't happen.
I will never go back and never recommend this shop to anyone... -

I came here to buy my first official road bike and couldn't have had a better experience.
The staff is amazing, especially Tony. He is super-duper helpful, friendly, and patient. I didn't feel pressured but I also didn't feel like I was annoying him with all my noob questions.
Tony helped fit my helmet, find accessories, showed me how to take off both tires, and even helped us get the bike in the car when we realized we forgot the bike rack.
Also, the location is great because when the mall lot is mostly empty (especially to the north west and around the back), it's a great place to take the bikes around for a test ride.
Can't say enough for this shop! For sure this is the place to go if you need anything bike related.
Hip-hip hooray for Budget Pro Bicycles! -

I bought a bike from this shop today and my experience was excellent.
As a complete cycling neophyte, Oscar gave me a couple of good suggestions for hybrid bicycles. I test rode two, and ended up buying the more expensive one. Oscar was very friendly, and helped me decide what sort of accessories I needed (always keeping my budget in mind). He even offered to give me a good discount on everything I bought!
All in all, I ended up getting a bike I was very satisfied with, and I would certainly recommend this shop for anyone inexperienced. (I can't speak for experienced riders, though the shop certainly seemed to have some very high end bikes!) -

Found this place on Yelp. Wanted to buy a bike at a local place and get some good advice, rather than a large chain store. I was so pleased with my experience. I am a total noob when it comes to bikes (and probably a few other things) and the guy who helped me was patient in answering all my super basic questions. You can tell they can serve super bike experts, but they have entry level bikes as well. Several months later, I love my bike and had a great, honest experience at this shop.

I originally bought my first OWNED(meaning all paid by me) mountain bike back in 1991. At the time, the bike was a little over $600 and that was and still is a lot of money, especially for being fresh outta highschool. The bike came with a lifetime guarantee for tuning and was very into mountain biking that year. Heinz, the owner at the time was very friendly and knowledgeable and learned a lot from him. Fast forward 20 years later, wanting to get into better shape, i rode the same bike i had 20 years ago but knew i needed something newer. I went to the only bike shop i knew had the awesome service. There are a lot of bike shops where i live, but none stood out like Budget Bikes. I go in there and Oscar, their son in law took over the place. Other than the newer bikes on the market, the place looked the same. Oscar quickly gave me the 411 on the bikes that were out on the market. I settled between a Trek FX 7.5 and a Trek Dualsport 8.4. I was leaning towards the Cycle Cross Bike(7.5) with the carbon fork and when i test rode it, it just felt like i would break it, being im 230lbs. I then tested the DS 8.4 and fell in love with it! The highest model was the 8.5 and i wanted to see how much the upgrade was going to be to the same components as the 8.5. Oscar did some calculations and for $150 more than the upper model, i would get the bike i wanted with the upgrades. Basically he credited the existing parts and put it towards the new parts. Why not just buy the 8.5 you ask? Cuz i didn't like the paintjob they offered on the 8.5. So now, a couple months later, im almost done paying my layaway off and hopefully by this friday, i am ready to pick up my new awesome bike! Thanx to Oscar of Budget Pro Bikes!!!
Another experience i had to add was last Thursday my '91 bike needed offroad tires(i been using slicks) for a Bike outing at the Fullerton Loop and i didn't want to spend a lot of $$ on such an old bike. I called Oscar and asked if he had any used tires he wanted to get rid of. I was only gonna use these tires for a day so i didnt care what kind of tire i got and didn't expect anything spectacular for $10 each. To my amazement, there were Kenda Small Block 8's ($40 each) and were practically brand new! For $20, that was a DEAL!!!! The tires worked amazingly well and never crashed one bit!
Again, Budget Pro Bikes went above and beyond to make me happy regardless if i spent a lot of $$ there or not.Listed in: My Sushi

I was looking to purchase a bike about 3 weeks ago and I went to about 3-4 different bike shops around here in Glendale city and really couldn't find the guide I was looking for to help me decide which bike to get for my first MTB.
I ended up at here at Budget Pro Bicycles thinking I was going to get the same run around. However, what I experienced was something unexpected. I ended up speaking to one of the reps there named David; this guy is freaking AWESOME! Right off the bat, after having told him that I'm a new biker, he immediately began laying down the details of mountain biking before we even got to the bikes.
After having explained all the fundamentals of MTB'ing, he finally walked me through the abundant selection of bikes they've got on their inventory. I walked in there with absolutely zero hope of finding a bike, and walked out knowing exactly which bike I'm going to purchase. I went back there 2 days ago and placed my order for a brand new 2011 Trek 4300. I'm waiting for its arrival so that I can go pick it up. This place offers lifetime service if purchased through them.
Overall, my experience here exceeded above my expectations and I will recommend ONLY them to anyone seeking information in regards to MTB.
PROS:
-Over friendly & knowledgeable staff
-Huge selection of bikes
-Great prices
-Lifetime service
CONS:
-They're closed on Sundays -

I bought a beautiful new road bike here (Giant - Advanced 2 Avail). David was very warm and helpful. The first time I went, I test drove a couple of bikes here and could not get it out of my mind. I am a neophyte but am riding as much as I can. I will go back for whatever I need.
Thanks to them for making it a great experience. -

We were Bicycle Doctor loyalists and were still mourning their closing when we went in to purchase a bike for our son and new town bike for my husband.
I was hesitant, since I am at very best a moderate flat lands, cruise around the hood cyclist and had read reviews that cited elitism here. Be advised- the staff are the MOST helpful I have ever encountered. Our sales person, spent a generous amount of time letting my son try out bikes to get the right fit and to get the bike he could easily grow into. They have a wonderful selection of well made bikes with a nod to retro styling. The prices are set below what you find on the internet. There is a good range of prices as well. Some are works of art, and all are chosen for their craftsmanship. Compared to the crap that Target sells, this place is awesome.
Based upon the staff's enthusiasm for putting a kid on the right bike, making adjustments pro bono, knowledge, selection, excellent customer service and sharing their love of the cycle, I am giving them 5 stars.
I wish more people would patronize independent stores like this and get out of their big box buying habits. -

This is a really cool bike store with great vibes and it's in Eagle Rock....yeah!!
Everyone here is passionate about bicycles and they love to help you.
They always greet you with a smile. Help address all of your queries. They have accessories that you can actually use on a daily basis on your bike ride and not just those crazy expensive gears that only the pros will touch.
There are no bike snobs here. Everyone here loves biking so no matter if you're like us weekend beach cruisers or a hardcore racer, you will be greeted and treated equally. There are no stupid question here, oh I had lots of those when I first got my bike and they were so polite to answer all of them. Best of all you never feel rushed here.
If you are a local, cruise on over to the store and say hello.
You can get your tires checked and inflated properly for FREE!!
Note: This store is located at the Target complex next to the 2 Fwy exit off ramp. The entrance to the parking lot and the store has it's own entrace. There are no driveways connected from the Target / Macys parking lot to this store location. There is a stairway that does connect the Target and the store. But not practical if you have something large to bring in the store for inspection.

I came in here and Tony asked me if I needed help right away. I told him I knew nothing about bikes at all, just that I wanted to ride mostly on pavement but occasionally on trails around town here. He then helped me out with everything I needed, and--this is the coolest thing--warned me away from things I didn't need. He could have sold me probably a couple hundred dollars more worth of crap I didn't need, but he didn't. Gave me a lot of interesting info and advice about cycling as we went along. And the best part is that a week later I'm still in love with my bike. No buyer's remorse (which has happened before). Tony hooked me up! Good prices, too, I was able to find everything I wanted within my budget.

...not only are the bikes here top notch, but the service is heads and shoulders above any other bike shop i've visited... my back tire's inner tube busted and they were more than happy to replace it at no fee plus check my other tire, small stuff sure but the way they treat customers is amazing... also had my mountain bike tuned up here after it being in the desert for a week and it's working wonderfully... 15% off with your LACBC membership...

been in here 3 times already. the first two, shopping around, undecided with what i really wanted. Tony (the man!!!) i say that because he really is the man, when it comes to the down low on bikes. on my first visit, my shopping angel and devil were for once, in full agreement i would end up buying my bike here. But i still wanted to shop around, you know what mama always said.
the second time around, i had narrowed it down to two bicycles. i told Tony what my plans were with usage and what goals i had. he gave me his verdict, and because i trust the man, i pretty much had my mind set. still needed to sleep on it. major purchase, you know, you gots to...
the third time, i already had my mind set and cash trigger ready to pull. Tony had told me my bike wasn't usually carried in stock but luckily for me the shop is in good with the distributor my particular choice of bike company. so i was told how it was going to go down, and i left my deposit. i'll be getting my bike next week, no extra charge for shipping (cause it's coming from chicago). i'll get the call once it's assembled and ready to go.
so far i've dealt with Tony and oscar. both great fellows, but as i was paying my deposit, i was eavesdropping on a another staff member thoroughly explaining to a customer all about his new purchase. i mean it was thorough, the guy could basically leave the instruction manual behind and he'd have nothing to worry about. i can't wait til i get that treatment lol.
for now, i anxiously wait for my snow white to come in...
thanks Tony and company!
ps. this shop carries lots of trek. great for the pro-ed out cyclists. lots of goodies. and if you're new to it all, talk to tony. you'll wanna do the tour de france after a conversation with him.Listed in: Put the fun between your legs!

I love this place. I had a used bike bought off craigslist tuned up and cleaned here, not the cheapest to have work done ($50 for the tuneup + $20 for cleaning) its defnitely on the low end of the price scale.
Super friendly and helpful staff, with no pressure whatsoever to buy. While I was looking at bike pumps I watched a lady came in with a mountain bike asking if the bike was too big for her as she just bought it from a friend. I watched as an associate spent about 15 minutes fitting her for her bike and making necessary adjustments. At the end, grateful for the help, she asked "How much do i owe?" And he said "Nothing." and she thanked him and went on his way. I know this didn't happen to me but WOW! I will definitely be coming here again. -

UPDATE
Returned here to stock up on bike tubes. Expected to pay $6+ but they stocked name brand tubes at $5. Yet another reason to return.
******
I buy most of my bike parts online and do my own maintenance work, so it's rare that I stop by a local bike shop except for odds and ends. Today I needed some brake and derailleur cable crimps. The staff was extremely helpful and I was shocked at how well stocked the shop is. In the future I will bypass Performance and stop by Budget Pro for my bike needs. -
Review from Vince M.
Los Angeles, CA
At Budget Bike Pro I've shifters replaced, a crank replaced, had the bike tuned up and cleaned, have bought tubes, liners and tires and had them installed, have bought lights and toe clips - and even had them install them.
Recently, I brought back the mount for a front light I'd purchased from them days previous that was jettisoned (and lost) at some point on a ride on the eastern end of the L.A. river "trail" where the asphalt breaks and the dips are jagged and severe. The detente on the clip was inadequate, demonstrably so, but only to someone willing to listen - and they certainly were! They were attentive and didn't have the slightest hesitation replacing it.
I have a beater - a "Liahona" hybrid I bought used. With the tire liners and gel tubes, it weighs a ton. Though I ride the heck out of it and indeed I love my urban assault vehicle, it is a bike that might indeed invite disdain, and yet I have never perceived any condescension on their part and the repairs have been right as rain. And it ain't like my antennae ain't up about that kinda stuff either.
I'm sorry to hear that one reviewer who had a bad experience there. I'd say that based on my own experience of several transactions there, it was an anomaly. Everyone has bad days, although I'm certainly sorry to hear about it. Did the reviewer that had the bad experience bring the bike back? What happened then? That's an important part of the story and I'd like to hear it.
But anyway, as for me, my experience with Budget Bike Pro - repairs and purchases - has been all top notch. -

Brought my '84 peugeot in on a Saturday morning because it wouldn't coast. They were busy but Fernando took my bike right in and installed a new freewheel/rim in about 30 minutes. I was out the door for $65 parts inc. labor.
Ive been to this shop several times, everyone is really helpful and knowledgeable, this was my first time bringing my bike in for service and I was really impressed. -

I was just telling a friend "This is, hands down, the best bicycle shop in Los Angeles." I just created a yelp account 5 minutes ago for the purpose of writing this review.
I always feel welcomed. I've gotten rad information about local group rides and advice. I always receive very reasonably priced and speedy service. They never try to sell me stuff I don't want and I NEVER NEVER NEVER get the bike shop snobbery or misinformation that I've gotten at almost every other bike shop in Los Angeles, from Pasadena to Hollywood to Santa Monica. (Yeah, there's a lot of shops on my black list)
These guys care about bicycles, their customers and their business.
What more could you ask for at a bicycle shop? -

Oakland, CA
About a year back, while driving through Eagle Rock for some random reason, my homie Francis wanted to drop by this bike store on Colorado Blvd. He didn't plan on buying anything, but being somewhat of a bike nerd, he just wanted to look. For me, although I didn't need anything, my bike at the time (a 1970's Raleigh 3-speed) was pretty old and relegated to 'easy rides through the park.' So I was curious.
Well, I think I can safely say that that trip to Budget Pro that day definitely made me REALLY want to get a new(er) bike. The setup's real nice, just enough space for all the stuff they have. The employees say hello to you and for the most part aren't bike snobs. They have just about everything for everyone (even kid's bikes), although they don't have a wide selection of single-speed road bikes just yet. Lots of accessories, parts, tools, clothing, and anything bike-related.
I went there today also 'just to look' and a walked out with a new handle bar, some handle bar tape, and a really dope 9-piece mini-tool, all of which I already put to use.
Definitely plan on coming back whenever I'm in town! -

There is no other bike store in Los Angeles as user-friendly. Good selection that goes from beginner bikes to ultra high-end. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they are never snooty.
Their shop does really extensive tune-ups for $39. That includes adjusting all the deraliers, lubricating everything, and truing the wheels.
Highly recommended. -

Damn, had I known this place had such a huge collection of bikes prior too my purchase at Performance Bikes, I would have probably would have just made my purchase here. Their bikes look really dope, and it even left me questioning my bike. But this seems to be a bike store that sells top tier bikes, as I noticed that I probably could not boughten a bike for the same price that I bought my bike for ($630).
Overall, this place definitely is worth the 4.5 stars that it has received -

Best bike shop in town. I trust the mechanic more with my Cervelo than the nearest authorized dealer. Great service at a very good price. I also like how the guys on the floor are NOT salesman-like. I hear them explain things honestly to newbies. No upselling. And they leave you alone if you want to just wander around and look. Some people like the phony salesman routine, but not me. If you are really into salesmanship, then perhaps this is not the place for you. For what I want in a bike shop, this is where I send folks. They are not the cheapest nor are they the most expensive, but I think they are the best bang for the buck. We are lucky that there are lots of great bike shops in the eastside-glendale-pasadena area. None of them are perfect... but for my road bike needs Budget Pro is my first stop.

This is my favorite bicycle shop! Their service is so personal you would feel as if you've known each other for a long time! They treated me like I was a "regular" even though it was the first time I stepped in their shop.
I ended up buying my first TREK road bike and all I can say is... WOW. The buying experience was awesome. They explained every single bit of the bicycle to me... including the difference between the 3 bikes I was choosing from. As soon as I made my choice, and after getting my shorts, shirt and helmet I was off with a huge smile and feeling of actually knowing that I got the best deal I could possibly get. Their selection is awesome too... from BMX, Beach Cruisers to the most expensive road and mountain bikes you can find.
They service bicycles too... and their service is very affordable. -

Great shop, helpful staff (without being pestery), nice selection of parts, components, bikes and nutrition Though they do have a few top-end bikes, they had a good inventory of low and midrange bikes as well (looked like there was an emphasis on mountain bikes).
My only suggestion to the shop would be to redo the layout of the store to flow a bit better. It was kind of like a maze of displays, parts, counters and bike areas, which doesn't lend itself to the random 'oooh, I want that' kind of impulse purchases. -

So Far so good. I spoke to Tony on the phone. Friday, It was 6:15pm and they closed at 7pm. I told Tony that I was at work and to return back to work as soon as I can. It took me less than 8 minutes to explain my bike problem and to have Fernando to write up the order. I pick up my bike tomorrow morning. Will let you know how it turned out... But, I'm really getting a good Vibe from Budget Pro.

this bike shop not only houses great bikes at affordable-ish prices (dude, if you're collecting unemployment checks, don't come here alright...you should just walk cuz it's not THAT cheap) and the service is 100% stellar. what sold me was the attentive service they gave to each of their customers and their ability to set aside profit margins to recommend the best bike for you even if it meant a lower-end bike. come on now, how many businesses would actually do that?
great selection of bikes, knowledgeable staff, and their patience to answer all kinds of questions even if it's the same one but worded differently really sold me. and sold me they did cuz i picked up a new bike, helmet, and am ready to crash into the nearest stop sign. woot! -

I went here on the advice of a coworker after browsing many other bicycle stores. Not that the other stores were bad, but this one, because of it's salesman, David, stood out. After explaining our wants and budget, David, helped us choose two (the wife and I) Trek mountain bikes that fit our needs perfectly. Although we're bike novices, David, was very patient and helpful with his advice.
Today we took out bikes in for their first tune-up (life time tune-ups are free if bikes are purchased here). Although we were not there to make any new purchases we were treated with the same excellent treatment as the day we bought our bikes. This is definitely the place to go for any of your bike needs! -

I'm not a bicycle pro or anything near it; just a person with a bike that needed repairing. Budget Pro was friendly, respectful, and upfront about their costs. It was fairly cheap but they took 2 full days to get it ready, which I wasn't expecting. It seems like a great place. They had all sorts of bikes and accessories and are perfectly willing to help you.
