I have stayed at the Budget Inn twice, and the best word to describe it is... well, budget! You get what you pay for, and if you are only looking for a place to lay your wine-weary body and an unbeatable location (for a decent price) - this is the perfect place.

The location is not even a full block away from the Marcus Whitman (elegant hotel) and Whitehouse-Crawford (fabulous restaurant). That means you can spend your time in the Marcus Whitman hotel bar and not pay their outrageous room prices!

You are also well within walking distance of the lively (on a weekend) downtown area, which includes many a tasting room, restaurant, coffee shop, bakery, EVERYTHING. There was even a block party last time I visited!

IF you are thoughtful and make your reservation early enough, I would ask to be placed in the renovated wing.  The original section, though clean, definitely has some dated carpets, bathroom fixtures, curtains, etc.  I'm unsure whether they have wi-fi, and even though it says they have a pool... I've never seen anyone in it (and I suspect it will remain so).  I recommend this place for travelers/singles on a budget - I'll spend those saved dollars on wine, thank you! PS - don't expect any fresh baked cookies from the staff. :)

We came to WW for the fall release weekend, and had a choice between the marcus whitman at $586 for 2 nights.. or this place for 168 for 2 nights.. while Im a fan of luxury lodging on the few "adult" weekends we get, I decided to go with the budget inn for this trip, as it would give us $400 more worth of wine to bring home.

This is your standard roadside motel, located on the best block in walla walla.   Recently renovated, I'm sitting in the new wing that was just done up and our room is clean, large, and everything we need for a getaway.  King side comfy bed, large flat screen tv, microwave and fridge, and a super clean bathroom.

Not sure what this place looked like before, but I'd never hesitate to spend a weekend here again....

It's your standard roadside motel, but it's in a great location.  Rooms were clean but a little musty smelling, and everyone suspiciously got stuffy noses whenever we were in the room.  The staff wasn't very professional, calling me "buddy" and "boss", but they weren't downright rude.  Had plenty of hot water, although the shower head whined annoyingly the whole time we were showering.  No internet.  The pool exists and is clean but is tiny.  Capper on the weekend for us was the car with the alarm going off in the parking lot for about 45 minutes.

Oh, and they made me pay up front, even with a credit card.  I thought that was a little weird.

Imagine being on the road and calling a place to rest your bones after a long day of driving.  You arrive at your destination after to speaking to someone on the phone, not once, but multiple times.  They have confirmed that they have a room for you, that it will most definitely have wireless, that it will be in the newly renovated wing and it will not be necessary to leave a cc number.  When will you arrive they ask?  You tell them where you are coming from and they say we'll see you then.  You finally make it there and give the attendant your name and they act as if you just walked in off the street.  After jogging their memory about where you came from, they tell you they sold your room to someone else and the price for the rooms they had left were suspiciously higher.  Not only that, but there would be no internet... even though they have a banner hanging below their sign on the road advertising it for everyone to see.  We didn't bother staying and we hope we never know anyone who does!

We waited till the last minute to make reservation for our Memorial Day weekend trip to Walla Walla and the Budget Inn is the only place we could find that had any openings...so reluctantly  we booked our room for 2 nights in the newer wing of the Hotel...our cost after taxes and fees was basically $100 per night. Upon arrival we checked in at the front desk and were greeted by the same gentleman that took our reservations....he politely gave us our key cards and we were off to our room. The Hotel itself looked clean on the exterior and well maintained plus it is only a 3 to 4 minute walk from the middle of downtown Walla Walla...they have an excellent location. We got to our room and took a big sigh of relief...it was kind of nice...King size bed, big flat panel TV, a desk with chair and a small couch. The bathroom was clean and the room was pretty much spotless...it was perfect for a weekend in Walla Walla wine tasting...I mean all we do in the room is....sleep...right?  The only issue we had in the room was the TV remote control had dead batteries and the staff corrected that immediately when we told them about it. We actually ended up staying an extra night. Anyway, the Budget Inn will be the first place in Walla Walla I call when I go back to sample some more wines. Also, if you can't get in the Budget Inn, The Best Western is just around the corner and is also in an excellent location for walking to Downtown Walla Walla.
