Yes. Brett was excellent. I had him come over to measure and order a rod for my curtains. The kind that your grandma may have had, the cord that you pull and they slide. This was for large bay windows. Rod was about 14 feet long. The rod was cheaper than an Internet order, which I researched and Brett was very helpful, as opposed to the Internet.
I am a DIYer and so chose to install the unit myself. I had two separate issues due to my lack of experience. Brett came by and resolved these issues no problem. He also answered some questions when I called on the phone. Yes, I may have been pestering him but he was polite and responsive!
My neighbors saw his van at my house and later commented saying "Are you using that guy for your curtains, 'cause he is great!" So I am not alone in my five star review.
Blinds are now working flawlessly. Thanks Brett and Budget Blinds. -

update on my previous review:
Almost one year after our initial purchase (see original post) we have just installed blinds in the living room. It was a custom order that required hunting down the specific fabric that was not in the standard catalog. Brett once again provided us with a competitive price and exceptional service. He came to our house multiple times with samples of fabric and was very patient throughout the process. The installation was very professional and the outcome as desired. I could not recommend BB more.1 Previous Review: Show all »

We recently bought our first house, and wanted to get window treatments that looked a lot nicer than the standard IKEA blinds I'd come to expect in all my rentals. On a friend's recommendation, I called Budget Blinds. I sent an email to the general address listed on their website and they scheduled a consultation immediately -- coming over a scant two days after I first inquired. Jasen spent a good amount of time with us, going through the various options of different kinds of blinds, reviewing materials and color, and guiding us gently until we sorted out what we needed for every area in our house. We wrote a check for the full amount and per Jasen, expected to hear back in a few days about the timeline.
Alas, we never heard back. I called about four days later to inquire, then followed up later that day with an email, and got a long, apologetic email from Brett (Jasen's partner) outlining when our various window treatments were expected to arrive and assurance that they would call to schedule installation once all parts were received.
Nearly three weeks later (about a week after his estimates for when items should have arrived) and I still hadn't heard a peep. I called again, and got a rambling message back that (I think) said that some, but not all, window treatments had arrived and we can schedule installation.
Four weeks later, and our window treatments are here and Budget Blinds have installed them. They look spectacular and I must admit they were well worth the price tag and wait to have them custom fit to our home. However, Budget Blinds only gets three stars because of their lack of communication. Definitely something they need to work on. I would recommend this service, but only w/ the caveat that you may have to chase them down to nail down a timeline. -

Budget Blinds installed office blinds for three 5ft x 6ft windows we have at our new office in SOMA. They came out quickly for the estimate, gave us a few pricing options, and then when we were ready to have them install, they set up the time and did a fast nice job on installation. Everything was smooth, and the price was totally affordable.
All that would have been five stars, but here's where things got especially awesome.
After a couple weeks we noticed the blinds blocked a weird warehouse-style latch on our windows that neither us nor the installer saw originally, because it had been cold as fuck and nobody opens weird, warehouse-style windows, during the winter. We called them and told them, expecting to have to pay to switch to a different style of blinds. Instead, they came and took down the blinds, ordered more parts, re-made a different attachment, and then came back and installed the new ones FOR FREE. It was really over-the-top nice, and they were cool about the whole thing. -

Highly recommend Budget Blinds, especially Elisa. She's friendly, professional, and efficient. The best part is that, even though she's new to Budget Blinds, she's very knowledgeable, having spent 6+ years in the window treatment industry already. I like having expertise, even if I'm a newbie to the topic.
Elisa gave me easy instructions to measure my windows - believe me, there a few more steps than you'd think! And after finding out what types & colors I wanted, she brought over the shades. These are terrific cellular blackout shades that are both bottom-up and top-down. And they were well priced - she matches your wants to your budget too.
I rent but I still wanted my own window treatments to create the homey-feel. I didn't know anything about window treatments, but Elisa was great in explaining things and making me feel comfortable.
Product: 4 stars - excited about them but need to install and use before I can upgrade.
Service: 5 stars
Cost: 4 stars - you pay for quality but you're getting the BEST price for them - I researched online when she told me what she was bringing.
Check them out and ask for Elisa! -

BRETT JONES is amazing!! He got my place for like 2 mins and simply pulled the strings very hard and BOOM! suddenly the blinds worked again!!!
He is supper friendly also, and gives you a feeling of security! He cares about resposibility, so make sure there is a brandname on the blinds, then it's easier for you to get the right parts you need to fix it. Otherwise, you better buy a new one to replace it.
Being an international student, It's really comforting that meeting someone as friendly and helpful as Brett Jones. He's just like a gift from God. Not exaggerating, that's how I felt at the moment. Make sure next time, if you have a broken blinds and feel lost and anxious, call Budget Blinds and find Brett Jones! -

What a fabulous experience with Budget Blinds!!!! I called on a Sunday and they got right back to me and scheduled an in home estimate a few days later. The owner personally came to my house to do the estimate and brought a plethora of selections for my windows. The bid he gave me was unbelievable and they had my blinds ordered and in the warehouse in just over three weeks!!!! Incredible! The installer was equally impressive and was so nice and friendly to have in my home. I had a previous estimate from another company that shall go unnamed and Budget Blinds blew them out of the water on price and delivery time!!!! Use them if you are looking for new window treatments!!!
P.S. The new shades look stunning. I couldn't be happier with the quality and style they have brought to my home. They seem to also keep my place warmer in the cold months. -

The guys Budget Blinds are great (Jason was super helpful!). I had electric blinds installed in my condo in SOMA (5 windows, 5 blinds), and was shocked to learn I paid about $10K less than other residents in the building for the SAME PRODUCT. Talk about a great deal!
I'd give them 5 stars, but there was a minor mis-measure during the initial consultation that led to me having 4 blinds installed while 1 had to be sent back to the factory for a re-cut. Added an extra 3 weeks to the process, but mistakes do happen and they were very gracious in making sure it got resolved as quickly as possible.
My blinds are now up, look great, and I couldn't be happier. Thanks! -

I highly recommend Budget Blinds (Brett) to anyone in need of window coverings. I recently used them to replace blinds in the condo I bought. Scheduling an appointment was very easy and Brett worked around my schedule. I am a pretty picky buyer and Brett was not only willing/able to schlep up ALL of his sample books, but worked with me for well over 90 minutes reviewing options and explaining what works/doesn't work for each application.
I had shopped around town and found Budget Blinds to be the best priced as well (even compared to some internet sites). In the end, the reason why I went with Budget Blinds was the wide selection of product and, most importantly, the service i was getting/felt I would get from Brett.
The blinds took a couple weeks to arrive wherein Brett promptly called me to set up the install. The install would have been perfect except that one of the blinds was not cut to spec. Brett had made all the correct measurements and ordered them as such, but the mfr simply screwed up. He made sure to resolve the problem and was very apologetic and professional about it.
An example of Brett's fine service showed itself in a follow-up visit to repair one of the blinds that needed an adjustment. He came by quickly and repaired it no charge.
I'm not sure about some of the complaints here, but I suspect that patience and reasonable expectations might have been useful. Budget Blinds is a busy because they are good. Like all good things, a bit of a wait is in order. Go for it...the payoff will be worth it. -

So one of the blinds broke (I have two little kids, things happen) and my blinds were fixed within a week. I called Brett, he said that if I didn't hear back from him in 24 hours that someone would come to install a new blind the following week. And they did!
Excellent service, excellent product.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Highly recommend Brett at Budget Blinds. I'm a Realtor in San Francisco, and have referred Brett to my clients. They have loved his attention to detail, accommodating nature, and thoroughness. A couple of my clients were concerned that because the word "Budget" is in the name that the inventory is a lower quality. This is not the case. Brett carries window coverings in various price ranges, and can get all high end if you want him to.
He's handled homeowners at The Infinity, which has a unique, curved window thing going on, as well as the large Victorian windows--pretty much can deal with whatever architecture you have. Plus, Brett is a nice guy. That counts for lot. -

Highly reliable with competitive pricing. Jasen was on top of my order from start to finish. He truly cares about this business and it shows.
My blinds are exactly what I wanted and with his help, I was able to study all my options before making a decision. I will definitely call them again when I renovate my other rooms. -

I needed to replace some blinds, including matching some existing blinds. Brett was extremely helpful...offering suggestions to get the best blinds for each location by discussing how I planned to use the blind, and considering my budget. The installation was excellent, one blind didn't work well and he offered to have it replaced. He is patient, pleasant, professional! I highly recommend him.

Recently had window treatments installed in a new apartment. I could not be happier with the service Brett and Co. provided. After having a few in home estimates from various companies Brett was by far the most helpful. He was very patient and informative going over treatment options, pricing and color matching. Their offering complimentary temporary treatments put them over the top. He really earned our business, not to mention the end product looks fantastic. Installation was fast and professional and across the board customer service was and continues to be wonderful.

i hate giving negative reviews, but when the shoe fits...
so this review isn't to comment on their work, fast leadtimes, anything like that because we never got that far! i actually decided to call them because of reviews from Yelp!
so it was a few months ago, i called them to make an appointment for an in-home consultation - it was a Friday, they said they could get Brett to come that following Monday at 10am. i said GREAT, the sooner the better because it's getting cold and i need some type of window covering that'll help insulate my place. the woman i spoke to was very courteous and helpful...but this is where it falls apart...
fast forward to Monday morning about 10am, when the guys should be here, i get a call from the scheduler, the same courteous lady who scheduled the consultation and she tells me Brett called in sick, and could we reshedule. OK, people get sick, I understand, no prob. Told her that Mondays are the best day for me, I work from home, if no one else from the office can come today before 3 or 4 (i had a meeting later) that we'd have to reschedule for the following Monday. She was again very courteous, very apologetic, no complaints there...
She put me on hold, came back a few minutes later and said that another person could come that same day at 12:30pm (can't recall her name right now, all I remember is that she is a she) - i said great, but no later.
12:30 comes and goes, i've already had most of my morning screwed by the rescheduling, i do have other things to do that day that involve leaving the house that i've had to reschedule, and this lady is late, and no phone call. finally when i was about to call THEM, around 1:10pm i get a call from the consultant, says she's somewhere down the peninsula, can get to my place by 1:30pm but didn't have all the samples w/ her. if i needed to see more samples than she had on her, she'd have to stop at the office and pick them up, tacking on more travel time onto everything and making her even later than she already was! i told her YES, i had wanted to see things she didn't have on her, but NO i didn't have time for her to go back to the office and we'd just have to reschedule.
she told me that she'd have the main office scheduler call me to set up a new appointment.
well, that was a few months ago and i have NEVER received a call back from them to reschedule! so they may do fantastic work, but i'll never know and i'm not going to call THEM to reschedule after all this. hopefully more people like me don't fall through their cracks or they're going to lose more valuable business! -

It had been about two years that we lived with a 6' x 2' skylight above our bed in SOMA. If anyone has lived or worked in this area, they understand how sunny it is here. What this means is, you go out on a Friday or Saturday night, there is no sleeping in past sunrise on the weekend. Brutal. Eye covers only work so well. That sunlight is really intense
Anyway, we (I) had tried to install a manual shade on our (my) own, and it was not working well at all, so we suffered through another year of very bright mornings, frustrated.
We contacted a couple of different contractors about getting a motorized shade professionally installed. Budget Blinds appeared to be about the same price as another supplier, but we got a really good vibe from Brett. He came over and measured everything twice, went over options, and was able to find a solution that fit within a reasonable budget.
Once the blinds came in, they installed it and everything seemed to be working, then the motor burned out. He dealt with the issue promptly and with great care. The programming instructions were incomplete as sent by the manufacturer, so he stayed on it, got the correct information and a little reprogramming device, and kept them on the phone during the installation and programming to make sure that everything went right.
The level of customer service was beyond excellent. Brett was very apologetic for the failure of the manufacturer and the inconvenience it caused me, but he never gave up. Now, we have a working shade that has truly improved our quality of life. Highest recommendation! -

I found Budget Blinds on Yelp and selected them based on good reviews. I am SO disappointed with them. How unprofessional! Stay away from them!
Brett came out to meet with me last Saturday, we spent a full hour together, go over my options and measuring my windows. He mentioned that I will have a quote by Tuesday the latest. It is Friday and I never heard back from Brett. I left 2 VMs already and nobody called me back.
I will take my business elsewhere for sure! What a waste of time! -

brett saw the review and was very upset that he had let the matter get away from him, so he came over and offered an excellent solution to the problem.
sooo, knowing what i now know about how all this works, i would use these guys again. still, i urge anyone who has not purchased blinds previously to make sure to see the chosen color AT NIGHT as the difference is dramatic and there is no other way to see what you are getting than to see for yourself in your home in the context of everything else colorwise.
again, kinds thanks to brett to doing the best he could to make what was wrong right.
A MIXED BAG
brett is a nice enough fellow, and the installation guy was a wizzard, but make sure you know what your are getting. make brett come to your house during daylight AND in the evening because the blinds' color will look completely different. he says the color will look 'a little darker' at night, but doesn't stress how dramatic the change is. he only shows you a tiny fabric sample, and maybe after doing a zillion installations, he knows what the colors will look like in different light, but unless you are a decorator or have experience with this stuff, you will not be able to imagine how the colors will look.
AND he doesn't tell you that the color of the 'hardware' depends on the shade color. it sounds obvious, yes, until you see it, you can't believe it. so, for example, you may have a white window frame and so you oder a light 'cream'-colored fabric. fine. but the top rail turns out to be a yucky mocha color that totally clashes with the window frame. and when you ask about it -- after you've spend a few thousand dollars -- he says, 'oh, well, of course the color of the rail is based on the shade color.' HELLO. thanks for letting me know NOW. it's not so bad during the day, but at night it looks really, really bad. (don't under-estimate the dreary affect on your psyche coming home every night and seeing the result of money spent, and wasted, due to someone else's negligence.)
when brett came back to talk about this, he said he would price out
valances to cover the yucky, mocha-colored rails at the top of the window frame -- that was FIVE (5)!! months ago. once they have the money, forget about any kind of follow up -- it ain't gonna happen.
as angry as i am about being ignored once the deal was done, i take solace in having so far persuaded two friends to go to the competition
it's easy to get caught up in the difference between the first price he gives you and then the discounted price, but it's like bed bath and beyond -- everything is marked up because everything is discounted.
i'll be replacing the most offensive of the blinds -- in the dining room -- before long and be assured budget blinds WILL NOT be doing the job.Comment from Brett J. of Budget Blinds of San Francisco 3/19/2010

Brett gets a big thumbs-up from me too. He was very professional, but also very friendly & helpful. I needed a custom rod to fit a large bow window in our old Edwardian. I also picked out some curtains, but when the price came back too high on the drapes he was happy to just do the rod, and even made recommendations of what I should look for in cheapo off-the-shelf drapes! As soon as I can afford to, I'm going back to him for the real deal.

Really great work. We worked with Brett who was very professional and knew exactly what to look out for in out new apartment. It helped that he had already done work on other units in our building. The sun shade that we installed was automated and works flawlessly. Unfortunately we had a baseboard near the floor that prevented the shade from coming to the floor, but Brett offered to take it and cut it down for no charge. He came back and installed it and everything works great! No extra charge.

Brett & Jasen are the best!
I was pregnant & on bedrest when I contacted them to help me design blackout shades for our twins room. Brett bought endless choices for me and we ended up doing our 2 bathrooms & a guest room as well.
Once the babies were born we had an issue with some sun coming through the side so they were quick to come out & help find a remedy which worked out great.
Now anytime I have an issue of any kind (I put batteries in wrong), they come in days to help me resolve my problems.
I highly recommend them, wonderful customer service and great choices! -

The initial consultation with Jasen went very well. He was professional and helpful and he gave me a quote on the spot. A few weeks after the consultation, he emailed me that he was ready to install the blinds. The end product was exactly what we were looking for and the installer even climbed 20 flights of stairs with a 12' rod that was too big for the building's elevator. Although we had issues coordinating with the building management, Brett Jones stepped in and addressed everything directly. I really appreciate his involvement to ensure successful completion.

We had a very good experience getting drapes made and installed for the family room in our home. The floor-length drapes cover most of one long wall and then part of another wall (joining at a corner). During installation, they were meticulous with their measurements to ensure the drapes hung properly on the hardware and hit the floor just right, end-to-end. We really like the way they turned out. Brett and Jasen were pleasant and easy to work with as well, which is a big plus for me since I hate doing home decorating but am picky about how things look in my house.

I live in a loft and had 16 ft. high curtains installed about 5 years ago. They were tough to open and close from the beginning, but I thought that was to be expected because they were so heavy.
About 4 months ago, the whole installation came crashing down.
I decided to not call the original installer and searched in Yelp and found good reviews for Brett from Budget Blinds. So I called him.
From the beginning he was thorough, caring, and professional. Plus, he knows his trade.
He immediately noticed that the original rod was too weak for such heavy and tall curatins. Plus, the original bolts were not the proper molly bolts needed for such an installation.
He patiently described in detail various replacement options that I had, answered all my questions, and gave me pricing.
I decided to reinstall the original curtains. The day of the installation, he was here personally supervising the whole work, doing some of the tougher parts himself, and making sure everything was done properly.
Now, my curtains are installed the way they should have been from the beginning. They look great! Plus, they go back and forth so smoothly, I can open and shut them with minimal effort using one hand.
He took care of every detail. Plus, he was pleasant, caring, and friendly the whole time.
Thanks Brett! -

This review is long overdue. A couple of months ago I had Budget Blinds install shutters in two rooms and silouettes in two rooms. I worked with Brett Jones and he was fabulous. I had a difficult time deciding on the window coverings. Brett was great and extremely patient. He made several trips to my house with samples and was always so professional and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He came out the day of the installation to make sure that everything was as it should be. His prices were really good. I would have paid more elsewhere for the same product.

Wow~I first went to Calico Corners for drapes for our front window - $4,800 - seriously? Then budget blinds came out - $1,900. They were professional and have the same drape systems as CC.
