Glendale, CA
Good food. Fair prices for a great kosher corned beef sandwich. I could never get these prices in LA (or probably in Manhattan) for a KOSHER, not kosher-style, sandwich.
The wait staff is a bit iffy. There's a blonde woman who's super duper unfriendly and zonked/zoned out. She would help but it seemed like she was saying $#% You! while she did it.
The owners, however, are extremely nice and friendly and want this to be the "go-to" place in the neighborhood for deli. They seem to want to make patrons happy in a genuine way. I applaud them.
The place is cute, a bit kitschy, but not overdone.
My parents often takeout stuff to bring him out of state when they visit and they know good deli as well. I hope other folks do this as well. I'll come back whenever I'm in town. -

Oh boy where do I start!
I recently went to a psychic and she told me what I always believed to be true......... I was an old Jewish Rabbi in my past life. This does not suprise me. I LOVE jewish food. When I eat at Buddy's I feel like the jew in me comes out...
What I love...
Brisket on rye
Turkey (amazing)
The pickles! mmmm the sour pickles are sooooo good.
Matzo ball soup
Coleslaw
Knish (fluffy and fresh)
Corned beef and Pastrami Sandwiches
Tuna on rye
I can go on for days. Oh and they also have Dr. Brown soda! That completes the meal. Prices are reasonable. I think the brisket on rye will cost you $9. They have a cheap lunch menu. I also love the people that work here, they always make some great suggestions. This place is a hidden gem. STOP going to Ben's kosher, not only does their food suck but I have a friend that works there and she said the place is filthy...I wont go into details...just stop....seriously stop going there. -

Generally, its an ok Jewish Deli. Especially because there isn't exactly an abundance of them in this area. The pickles are legit, so are the sweet potato fries. The chicken salad is very good.
HOWEVER.....
First of all, (and I have a massive issue with this because it just seems like false advertising to me) their menu says "Chicken Soup with Matzoball". Which to me, and anywhere else in the free world, means there is said CHICKEN inside of the SOUP. Don't call it CHICKEN SOUP if its not freaken chicken soup! I am harping on this because I just ordered from there and asked twice, "Is there chicken in the soup?" and I got "Yeah, yeah matzoball soup." Scumbag way to answer a simple question. Then I get there and he tells me, "Well, we cook the chicken inside the soup then take it out." That, to me, is infuriating. If I wanted hot water with chicken bouillon and noodles I would make it at home. And why couldn't he answer me honestly the first time I asked???? He really needed the $5 I spent on it, I guess.
Second, their broccoli knish tastes metallic. The other knishes are pretty good though.
Ok, I'm done. -

Buddy's is a great traditional Jewish deli. They start you off with pickles and cole slaw which is always nice. Their pickles are great and they usually give you both sour and half sour, they are always juicy and delicious (I'm a big sour garlicky pickle fan, well anyting garlicky for that matter!)
Their hot dogs are great, they have a great snap when you bite into them, I eat it only with spicy mustard and it is so good just like that. I also recommend the matzo ball soup, a traditional Jewish favorite, it comes with a big matzo ball in a flavorful broth. Their knishes are must try too, crispy on the outside and very filled.
Their sandwiches are great. You can mix meats which makes it even better. The pastrami with the corned beef on rye is delish.
It is a very simple, casual place with a home-y feel to it. -

Fantastic little Kosher Deli hidden just between the Clearview and Bell Blvd. We have never had a bad meal here.
The hot dogs are snappy and delicious. The cole slaw is great, which make a perfect topping for the dogs. And this is where I first had a knish sandwich, which might be the best thing on the menu. And hot, crusty potato knish sliced open and filled will a pile of their best deli meat. Wash that down with an ice cold bottle of Dr. Brown and you are in Kosher Queens Heaven.Listed in: Top Dogs

* NY Classic *
FTR?!?!?! Seriously? (Put on best NY Jewish accent) Shame on you NY Yelp!
This is a quintessential old school NY Jewish deli. Everything from the menu selections to the bowl of pickles and cole slaw which are delivered to your table before your meal. No BS sandwiches with way too many items on them. Nothing fancy in terms of decor, and no excessive marketing or crowds. Just solid traditional deli food in a quiet neighbourhood.
I miss true NY deli living in Vancouver. This spot scratched that itch completely!
I had all of my favourites:
Brisket on rye
Knish
Cel-rey soda
Full sour pickles
Coleslaw
The brisket was perfectly moist, generously piled onto the rye (my only slight complaint would be the rye which I've had better versions of as memory serves).
The knish was a traditional round one, with nice fluffy mashed potato inside of a good dough.
The cel-rey soda is a taste that I suppose you have to grow up with. But it was just like I remembered it from childhood.
The sour pickles were on par with the ones I use to get at Guss' Pickles (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...).
The place is very casual, with super friendly service that kibbitzes with the best of them.
The signs on the wall are amusing, as they have the old prices. Yes, I would definitely like a tongue sandwich for 15 cents, or a frank for 10 cents, or a chicken foot (plucked nonetheless!) for 1 cent, or chicken liver for 3 cents a pound!
But not to worry, even modern day prices are still very reasonable. The brisket sandwich was just around $8 - very fair for the amount of meat they gave.
Buddy, whoever you are, please send your delicious comfort food to Vancouver!Listed in: Random NY thoughts

Review from Steve E.
Flushing, NY
Back when I was a kid during the last ice age, every Jewish or even semi-Jewish neighborhood had at least one (usually more) kosher deli like Buddy's. The previous reviewer called this a "quintessential old school NY Jewish deli" and he's spot on. Buddy's is a step back in time.
From the cole slaw and real sour and half-sour pickles that appear on your table to the full complement of Dr. Brown's sodas (who was Dr. Brown, anyway?), to some of the tastiest, juiciest, most delicious pastrami, corned beef, brisket and tongue sandwiches you will ever find, this is Jewish deli the way it used to be and the way it should be.
The prices are more than reasonable as well--especially their lunch specials. A cup of soup and a brisket on rye with fresh cut fries + soda for under $10, or a cup of soup and a heaping dish of stuffed cabbage & soda, also under $10. It's like stealing.
The place is small, quiet and spotlessly clean with a fairly extensive menu of traditional Jewish deli offerings. The counter people and waitresses are friendly and helpful. And the quality of the food rivals that of the better known Manhattan delis such as 2nd Avenue deli or Katz's. If Ben's is your idea of Jewish deli, do yourself a favor and get your kishkas over to Buddy's and discover what real Jewish deli tastes like. -

Great Neck, NY
One of only three Kosher delis (?) remaining in Queens. The other 2 (?) are Ben's on Queens Blvd., and Ben's in Bay Terrace (not related to each other). I eat here for lunch fairly often, and everything has been great. Many lunch special options at varying and reasonable prices.

So dirty, so filthy. How can this place pass inspection?
