I give Dr. Edward C. Budd 1 out of 5 stars because Dr. Budd did not do the job he was contracted to do. I would have given him 0, but that was not an option. My review is not based on the outcome of his court appointed recommendation, but solely on him not taking his job and responsibility to his clients seriously. If you are a parent or an attorney seeking to use to Dr. Budd's services - beware!
My husband & I paid over $8,000.00 for Dr. Budd to review a highly complex custody case involving parental alienation and court documentation from a divorce and trial that occured in Texas. Not only did Dr. Budd not even take the time to address the parental alienation in his report, but he didn't even turn his report in on time (weeks late)! In his report he stated he was not an attorney, judge or detective and was not going to review the "frivolous" information provided to him. My husband's ex-wife was held in comtempt of the TX court, found guillty of parental alienation and fined $70,000.00 in damages ($30,000.00 in punitive damages because she acted with malice). How can Dr. Budd think for one minute these actions were "frivolous"?
He stated he was only going to base his recommendations on the very few, limited meetings we had with him and the children. We live in Chicago and flew in to Denver for 2 days of in office testing, one dinner with the children (who were coached by their mom to behave badly) and a few hours of one on one's with kids. He had many more meetings with the mother who lives in Parker. We offered to fly Dr. Budd to Chicago to come visit us while the children were in our care, but he refused and felt it was unnecessary. He did not look at any of the pertinent court information given to him or call even one reference we had given him. He only called the my references my husband's ex-wife gave him.
He had his mind made up from the start. $8,000.00 is a lot of money to spend on a court appointed doctor that was too short-sighted, busy and/or lazy to take his job serious enough to review all information provided to him.
