What a great find for me and my birthday party group of hungry colleagues.  We stumbled on Buda Thai looking for some great food and a craving for beers.  We found the right place. On Thursdays and Fridays they offer a sensational Happy Hour menu with great nibbles like Satay Chicken with the best peanut sauce ever, a barbecue pork, scrumptious corn fritters and crispy chicken wings served with a sweet chili sauce. For dinner we all shared yellow curry with chicken, green curry with eggplant, pad thai noodles, garlic chicken, and another green curry with beef. Okay we were hungry but because it tasted so good, we kept eating.

Simply delicious.  Definitely a destination spot for lunch, dinner or happy hour.

A great place to schedule a birthday celebration, a promotion, a baby shower or just a group of friends getting together to celebrate life and their wonderful friendship. I have recommended my company to use it as a holiday party spot and take over the entire restaurant.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Damn good lunch in Mountain View. Damn good.

Prices and portions are perfectly matched, not too pricey, not too big. And relatively healthy, too. I went with the broccoli beef bowl with a side of brown rice. Not nearly as gooey and fatty as I'd normally expect from a Chinese restaurant, but it was much more filling and probably better for my waistline at the same time. Bonus points for serving Izzie soda, too.

Total for two? $25 + tax and tip. Not too shabby!

It's a little hard to find the first time you come to Buda Thai, but once you've gotten there, it's pretty easy to remember. If I lived in Mountain View, I'd come here for lunch all the time!

BUDA THAI just moved into my neighborhood near work in Mountain View - I hoped it was a solid, because it is almost walking distance close. They seem to have a popular little outdoor patio too. My co-worker picked some up for us, and I went with a very basic Chicken Pad Thai - my usual choice for my first time to see if I want to return. (If you screw up the basics...)

It was actually a pretty healthy portion for $7.95. The Pad Thai came in a to-go bowl with a lid, and really filled me up. I would definitely come back to try more items. Probably somewhere between a 3 and 4 star rating, but I want them to stick around so...

    3.5 stars.

Such a great place to eat for lunch - or take to go. whatever. I love thai food, but most thai places are really like sketch like you dont know if its clean or something. Well this place is pretty nice. Small, but there's outdoor seating which is awesome since theres some hot days and nice breeze outside. I go here on my lunch when I work and I love their green curry w/brown rice. So damn good! haven't tried much of the menu since I have a limited amount of time to eat :/ but if youre around the area i'd definitely give it a try. You either love thai food or you hate it, but this really hits the spot for those who are in the middle or who haven't tried it. I give it a 4 star because of their stupid hours. 11am-2:30 WTFFF.

I love the food at this place.  My office is within walking distance, so I eat here at least once a week.  Their spicy eggplant with chicken is my favorite - and the tom yum soup is really good, too.

My one complaint - and the reason why they don't get 5 stars from me - is that their service is REALLY slow.  It doesn't matter if I eat in the restaurant or if I call in an order to go I always have to wait a significant amount of time. I have called in an order which they said would be ready in 15 minutes...I waited 20 to walk over for pick up and still had to wait about 15 minutes when I got there.   At lunch on a work day this is pretty much unacceptable.

Great place to eat as long as you don't have anything better to do afterwards or aren't in a hurry.

We visited Buda Thai with a party of 6 (including one two-year-old), and we ordered lots of dishes. All were excellent (and many of them great for vegetarians), the service was welcoming and attentive to children and adults alike, and the decor was beautiful. The leftovers were great too! I live in Brooklyn, NY, or I would go much more often. Definitely a great lunch spot for anyone who works in the area.

    Meh...I've had much better....
I came here with 4 friends. So this review should really count as 5 reviews!

    Positives:
    - Decent to large portion size
    - Organic white and brown rice
    - Nice decor...although a little cramped for a table for 4
    - Decent prices for the area

    Negatives:
Pad Thai = Too fishy. Also they used BAD or expired tofu (it was sour!)
Pad See Ew = Too fishy. Noodle a little narrow and too thick. I'm used to wider and thinner. Soaks up the flavor better.
    Basil Chicken = Too salty
    Lemongrass Chicken = Too salty
Pineapple Fried Rice = Too salty. Too fishy.

Sorry, I really wanted to like this place since it is close to work but seriously, not good food.

This is my first time trying this place and the food is fantastic.  The Thai fish cake is awsome and tasted home made.  The texture and taste of the Pad See Ew are simply perfect.  The pumpkin curry also tasted fantastic and goes superbly well with the brown rice that came alongside it.  Last but not least, the Thai iced tea tasted just right.  This place is definitely a must try and I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes.

Pretty darn good for an office park joint. They even have duck red curry which was unexpected. Brown rice choice was another nice touch. Portions are a but on the small side but it fits for a quick lunch and they have a nice outside area when it's sunny.

3.5 Been here twice now and I think Buda might slowly be becoming my fav Thai place in the area.  The pad thai here is tasty...the sauce is light and flavorful just like the ones I had on the streets of Bangkok.  No Shana Thai goop here-hooray!

The pumpkin curry is also delicious.  It is flavorful and not spicy.  I love the creaminess of the curry and the sweetness of the pumpkin.  Unfortunately, my veggies today were slightly undercooked, but still tasty.

The portions here are generous and rice comes with your curry(another plus).  It's a shame they are lunch only.  I would like to come for dinner.  That being said, leftovers here are awesome...the pad Thai and curry both heated up well and possibly gained some additional flavor by soaking up even more juices.  Note: service is really pleasant, but even for take out the kitchen is slow, so don't go if you are in a rush.

Today, I am recovering from a really bad case of food poisoning.

I had the beef noodle soup for lunch yesterday, and immediately afterwards started feeling like something wasn't quite right. By 4pm, I was nauseous and had a serious body ache. I spent the rest of the night feeling like death and throwing up in my toilette.

This was my second experience at Budah Thai (the first involved some really bland Pad Thai that took 25 minutes to come). I am never going back again.

Amazing food, excellent service, and great prices!

A good friend of mine recommended this place so I tried it out with a few girlfriends today.  I ordered the Pad Thai, the spring rolls and finished off with the fried ice cream...*drool*  Everything was delicious!

I always judge a Thai restaurant by its Pad Thai and this place has the BEST Pad Thai! It also has really good portions too.

Besides the delicious food, I was really impressed by the service there and how quickly we all got our food.

This is the perfect lunch spot for take out or sit down.  There is ample parking too, which is always good.

I definitely recommend this place!  I can't wait to go back!

Located in a small strip mall beside a coffee shop, this place is small and clean. The décor is simple and the people are nice. Walking distance if you're a working off the Whisman/Middlefield area, this place has lots of variety for you to choose from: curries (red, green, pumpkin), pad thai, salads and great bowls.

My first visit my friend and I shared the pumpkin curry (added eggplant) with chicken and the thai garlic chicken. It's nice that they have a brown rice option. The thai garlic was very flavorful and had crispy edges. What we appreciated most was the veggies were so fresh! The pumpkin curry was really good too. The curry is on point and we were fighting for the last bits of sauce! Lol

Second visit with a colleague we shared the chicken pad thai and pumpkin curry (again). The pad thai has a light sauce to it so we just doused it with the pumpkin curry.

The pumpkin curry is something I would go back for again and again. The veggies are fresh and it's nice to pick what protein you want with your dish, as well as the brown rice option. The owner's mom was visiting and she is super nice and attentive to everyone on the patio. I'm glad this place is so close to my work. The food is fresh and the prices are a great value.

I came here with coworkers for lunch. Overall, I had mixed feelings about coming back bc the service needs some work and the dishes were only slightly above average (I had some tasty, but lukewarm Pad Thai).

My coworker ordered a bowl of tom yum soup for $6.95. Though they had lunch menu prices for all the entrees, I thought the soup was oddly priced here. The bowl was in-between a cup and a larger bowl that is served to groups. I would have expected the soup to be cheaper and smaller for lunch portions so people can order soup with their entrees.

There was definitely a lunch rush after we came in but the initial impression we had was muddled by having to wait awkwardly in the middle while debating if we were supposed to order first at the counter or seat ourselves. After awhile, a server brought us menus and sat us down. The service was continually slow and I had to prompt the server for take out boxes and the check after waiting a long time.

Buda thai is located just around the corner from I work and it's a really convenient location.

Besides, the target/IKEA mirrors that warp your faces and body, the food was pretty good.  I ordered the thai fried rice with chicken and because I compare every place with King of Thai, I should say it doesn't even compare to King of Thai but it was good.  They give you a good large portion and the flavors are as authentic it could be.

The restaurant itself didn't give me a Thai restaurant feel but more of a modern cosmo feel.  Felt pretty cool I should say. Service was great and I will sure be back to try out their other dishes during my lunch hour.

Service staff was really friendly, 5 stars!

Pad Khee Mao was unfortunately not that great.. Was expecting fat noodles but the ones they used weren't wide enough nor were they thin enough, interfering with the ability to savour the whole flavour of the dish. Chicken pieces were so-so, typical Thai style I guess, not super moist or anything. The dish was definitely spicy and also piping hot straight out from the kitchen, thumbs up for that!

    Update:

Gave Buda Thai another shot and was very pleased with my meal. The food was flavorful and delicious, and my brown rice was fresh (unlike the white rice I had last time). My only complaint is that my food, like last time, was served a bit luke warm. That problem is easy to remedy however, I will simply request that my food is served *extra* hot.

Bottom line: a few weeks in and I am seeing improvement. The food is tasty and I will continue to patronize their business!

"Yay!" to tasty Thai that is a 5 minute walk from home!

I got invited to a private event at Buda Thai.  When I first got there, I looked at the menu and thought "wow, reasonable prices."  However, it ended up being a buffet style dinner.  Usually when I go to a buffet-style event, food always runs out.  It didn't happen here!  The food was very flavorful.  There was plenty of food for everyone...and even enough leftover food that they brought out boxes for us to pack food to go.  It had been a warm day.  Thankfully, the weather cooled off enough in the evening.  A bunch of the guests ended up stepping outside to eat their food.

I really wish this place was closer to SF (where I work) or even the East Bay (where I live) so I could go more often.

Great food and great service.  LOVE the pictures on the walls too.  =)

I'll be forgiving and generous on my review as this is the first day Buda Thai is open. If it were week 4 or 5, this review would be a 1 or 2 star.

Some background on the timing of our arrival... when I arrived there were 2 people eating food and no one else was waiting on food. No one came to pick up any other food in the meantime.

-My colleague order of a chicken bowl + curry fries. It took 40 minutes for the fries to come out. Then we got back to our office and realized the chicken bowl wasn't included in the order. Called the office and only got a voicemail. The fries taste OK but the peanut sauce is really really good.
-I ordered the curry beef bowl. The flavor is amazing.
-Another colleague ordered a salad. For $7, it is very very tiny and has no meat.
-Chicken satay skewers were ordered. They seem to be a better value and taste good. Again, great peanut sauce.

They definitely need to work on their customer service because today's was a 1. :( The food is tasty so I will give them another chance and hopefully a 3 star review can be actually be earned. There's no corporate person who has 40 minutes to wait for lunch to receive an incomplete order... especially a 40 minute wait on an appetizer. I was told I should call ahead for food and expect a 15-20 minute wait time.

Tofu curried fries were great.  The pork chop was tasty.  .  It would be nice if the plates had more vegetables on it.  On my second visit, the service was slow.  I'm rating it well, because the food taste good.

I went recently and sadly the tofu fries are no longer on the menu. However, you can try to ask for it and they may make it for you.

Great food, excellent service, nice atmosphere and fair prices.  My favorite dish is the crispy basil chicken with brown rice (jasmine rice is also an option).  It's slightly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, tasty sauces on the side and fresh vegetables.
I've been here several times for lunch and the food has been consistently good.  This place unoffcially opened in Sep 2011 so they are still working out the kinks.  They aren't open for dinner but that may change when they are officially open.

First time here. This place still has the feel of a restaurant that hasn't quite got its running legs. The menu is limited, but what they do make is excellent. We went in on a day when Pad Thai was not on the menu, but they made it for me anyway - they surprised me with it actually, an entire entree for free, in addition to the one I ordered!

The waitstaff could be more experienced (took a bit longer than we wanted, and they forgot our Thai Iced Tea), and the Pad Thai could use more chicken (I saw another review about the small amount of chicken in the dishes), but all in all, very tastey meals and wonderful customer service. I'll be back.

The food excellent, really healthy and delicious. I enjoyed the springrolls, eggplant with chicken, and deep fried ice cream -- ok so maybe the latter was not so healthy! ;)

I also loved the atmosphere of the restaurant really fun with good music and the decor is bright, modern and beautiful.

Simply delicious is what comes to mind when I think of the wonderful lunch I experienced at the Buda Thai Restaurant. What I enjoyed the most about the restaurant is the freshness of the vegetables and other items, as well as the genuine flavors and seasonings that are used to make the meal a divine experience. When I closed my eyes while taking in the wonderful smells it felt as if I was in Thailand savoring the wonderfully prepared meal. A few of my favorites were the Red Curry Beef, Crispy Chicken with Basil and the Thai Pork Fried Rice.  If you get only one thing -- give the Tofu Fries a try -- they are sensational.  Congrats to the Chef! Highly recommend this lunchtime jewel.  It was so good I requested that Buda Thai cater lunch for my upcoming diversity training.

I just had lunch at Buda Thai.  The pumpkin curry was delish.  At first bite, it had the right creaminess with a touch sweetness, but not quite the spiciness I normally like, then it subtlety hits me.  Buda Thai is a terrific place for a quick lunch.  My order came in hardly anytime -10 minutes.  I was initially concerned since a fellow yelper indicated that service was slow.  They have fixed the kinks that they had previously.   I also love the decor.  It's modern and hip without going overboard yet still has the Thai feel.  I would definitely be back when I'm in neighborhood.

I had the great pleasure to be in the office today when our lunch was catered by Buda Thai. The food was outstanding and multiple trips were made to the feast by everyone in our office.

I am not a Thai food fanatic, but it was clear this was authentic and the flavors were incredible. The meal included both Jasmine and Brown rice, a curry beef dish, pumpkin chicken, Thai basil chicken, salad and cookies.

One of the best catered lunches I have had in a long time and I highly recommend Buda Thai for any upcoming lunch you may need to have serviced.

What an oasis in Mountain View!

Take a trip to Thailand in your next lunch hour.

My favorite part of this restaurant was sitting in its verdant patio, surrounded by purple bougainvillea and white roses. I could get used to this. My pumpkin curry with tofu and brown rice was a fitting compliment to the serene setting.

This is my very first review ever on YELP and I hate that its a bad one.

My coworker found out about this place and suggested that we try their food today. We couldn't find the menu on line so we were planning to order the simple Thai food (yellow curry, fried rice, etc.). After reading one of the reviews, we decided to order the Crispy Chicken with rice. ummm bad idea!

    1. 2 of the 3 orders barely had any chicken (literally 2-3 small pieces and that's it)
    2. My order had about 5 small pieces of fried rubbery, really chewy and just plain terrible chicken.
    3. rest of the dish was lots and lots and lots and I mean lots of onions and red bell peppers in a decent, but overly sweet sauce.

My coworker ordered the food over the phone, went to go pick it up at least 30 minutes later and the food STILL wasn't ready. So when she brought it back I was hoping it was freshly made and hot but unfortunately, the rice was cold and so was the entree. And some of the chicken pieces were soggy.

I'm a BIG Thai food fan and have pretty much tried all the Thai food restaurants in the area. Buda Thai will not be on my revisiting list.

As a lover of Thai food, I am always glad to welcome another place into existence where I can slake my desires for Thai Iced Tea, Papaya Salad, and Roti with Green Curry. When I heard Buda Thai had opened up in Mountain View, I made a beeline for it and boy, am I glad I went!

The Thai Iced Tea is fantastic here - I'm sorry, but I'm picky about my Thai Iced Tea. Most places either make it too sweet or not sweet enough. This place hits it perfectly! The Papaya Salad and the Green Curry Roti were very tasty, but a bit - ahem - "atomic" for my taste buds. However, I am pretty sure I can just ask them to dial down the spice level the next time I go. And lastly, I now have found a new love: Curried Tofu Fries! Who'd have thunk these could be so good?

As of today, there is some PG&E construction going on in the area, so it's a bit hard to find, but trust me: you'll want to find this hidden gem! It's WORTH IT!

got a lunch to go.  basil chicken.  pretty good, reasonable price, fresh veggies, stir fry, slightly salty sauce but not too sweet which is nice.

I recently attended a private party at Buda Thai...OMG!!! I love this place!!
When you walk in the door, the space feels very warm and welcoming while at the same time, very modern and Thai feeling. There was also an outdoor patio with seating, umbrellas and heating lamps .
The food was buffet style.  For me, buffets are kind of touch and go when it comes to food . The buffet food was so yummy and it never ran out.  Also, I never ate anything cold, which to me is huge bonus points !!!
They even brought out take out boxes for us to bring food home!!
The service was great and the staff super friendly.  Especially the owner. You can tell food is his passion and that he really enjoys when people enjoy their food. All in all, everyone was happy and definitely did not leave hungry. A good time was had by all !!!
I will definitely keep this place in the back of my mind if i need a place to host a party or an event.  My gut feeling is that this place is a keeper =)
I will definitely be back for more good food !!!!
