Review from Sofia R.
My friend decided to have his birthday get together here so there I went.
The place itself isn't hard to find and it's not hard to get to but it's not a place I would have noticed if I walked by.
They check your ID right before you walk in. They're pretty good about keeping things in check at this bar. It makes sense to me only because it was so busy the night that I went. If it's like that every night...yeesh. Packed to the max.
Decor is old fashioned. Lots of wood, lots of animal heads on the walls, huge bar, various games, lots of "open space" to dance. Kitchen is in the back.
That night I had an AMF, a Long Island, and chicken fried bacon. AMF was about $8 or something which is standard for me. Chicken fried bacon cost $10, but they do give you a lot.
The drinks are made pretty well (hard to say that they taste good because said cocktails are not exactly made to taste good). Chicken fried bacon was good, but it gets to be overwhelming after a while. I mainly ordered it out of curiosity and fascination. Worth trying, but I suggest finding friends to split it with.
Overall, really cool place! I'd be willing to go back despite the ridiculous amount of people. -

A David Lynch film set decorator must have came through here and put all these dead animals up on the walls and I love it! I just get that vibe....After they finished that they hooked it up with skee ball and classic arcade games, perfect for drinking with some friendly competition, without having to play beer pong. And it gets better! 2$ tecate/PBR in cans yee yeeeaa. I love the wooden picnic bench chillin in the center of the main room, it just does something good to the drinking environment.
I know this is a bar but I've got to talk about to food... Home made corn dogs!! Yes, they are awesome! Made with sausage, nooo hot dogs. That is my favorite.. go by and pick yours. There is a nice little walk up window to place an order with the kitchen folk from what I am willing to call a rather extensive menu (being in a bar). The food may be brought out to you or you may need to go up to the window to pick it up. I have had it both ways and I'm happy either way.
oooh yes i forgot to mention the photo booth. Check your self out drunk. Take a photo and keep it with you forever. Thank the beer gods for good taxidermist! I don't think this place would be the same without em!
Always a good time! -

This place is a taxidermist's dream.
The photo booth is great and the aromas coming from the kitchen in the back makes me want to return for food. -

I've been here at least 4 times. The food was unimpressive and the dead animals EVERYWHERE were just creepy. Plus, they claimed my I.D. was "fake" and wouldn't let me in. I can't deny that I look like a child but the fact is I am actually 21 and there was nothing fake about my out-of-state driver's license. The guy didn't even give me a chance to prove the legitimacy of my I.D. There was a whole group of us there and we all ended up leaving. It was ridiculous. They have a great pool table so I'm sad to say I'm definitely never going there again.

Review from Vivian H.
I'm convinced that animals haunt this place. There are dead animals everywhere.
Friends and I came to try their food for an early dinner. We shared buttermilk onion rings, potato wedges, chicken fried bacon, and the fried chicken dinner.
First of all, I don't even like onion rings, but I couldn't stop helping myself to Buckshot's buttermilk onion rings. The batter was different and it was more like a fried ring of onion than a traditional onion ring.
I thought the legendary chicken fried bacon was a little overcooked - the bacon was too crispy. Nonetheless, it was still good. The batter made the bacon even crispier.
Wedges were ok - some were kinda burnt and they were all stuck together. It was topped with bacon, cheese, and sour cream.
The chicken fried dinner consisted of a fried chicken breast covered with gravy with a balsamic vinaigrette salad and potatoes. The gravy was thick and creamy but not overpowering and the chicken was very moist. The salad was delicious and the potatoes were OK.
Guinness float - very interesting! It's pretty much a root beer float but with a Guinness instead of root beer, and coffee ice cream instead of vanilla. The root beer float was also good and I think they put some caramel in there. Soo good.
We played a game of skeeball before we left. I love skeeball!! -
Review from Sam K.
Maybe it was coming here after having a nice-ish dinner, or maybe it was getting dragged out to the goddamn Richmond on a Friday night, but I really just didn't feel it at this place.
The bar didn't look particularly well-stocked, so I ordered a glass of whiskey on the rocks. Simple enough, right? Yet the bartender still made a face about it.
Said bartender also then proceeded to throw out the pizza brought in by one of my group's members while she had her back turned. I get that you serve food and it's impolite/against the rules to bring in outside grub, but the right way to handle that situation is to tell the offending party to their face that they can't bring their pizza in your bar and they'll have to eat it outside or throw it away. Taking her beer order and then seizing the pizza and throwing it away when she turns her back to hand a beer to her friend, then picking a fight with her when she asks you where it went (direct quote: "Oh, you mean the garbage that was sitting on my bar? I threw it away.") is childish. Perhaps fitting for a place that looks like a Chuck E Cheese's.
Beyond the rude service and poor bar selection, Buckshot just feels run-down, with a crowd dominated by douchebags. The final straw for me was the single trough urinal (filled with ice. how classy.) in the bathroom. Gross. I don't think I'll be back.Listed in: YTDDOC 2011

This bar really sucked for it's customer service though I really wanted to like it and patronize it because it had skee ball primarily and shuffleboard and billiards.
But the workers are just too cool to care about customer service. They act all emo and like they hate their job. For me it started off when I tried to order some food. The guy taking the order could care care less and treated me like I was a bother and told me to listen to the bell for when my order was ready. Each time the bell rang, I walked up and he just looked at me and said, "nope." Nobody wants to be treated that way and I'm not a kid.
Then at the bar, we tried to order beers from the bartender and patiently waited for him to take a break from talking to his security friends. We find out that they don't sell pitchers so we order 4 beers on tap. We wait and wait and the bar wasn't even that busy. I adjusted my waiting stance on the counter and the bartender assured me that it was gonna be awhile. And that's it, no explanation, that maybe they are changing the keg or whatever. Meanwhile, the security guard to my left is arguing with his girlfriend.
We came out that night with our friends but having to wait 15 mins for some beer is ridiculous and to have crappy service on top of that. We just left. Even though we already paid for our food and didn't get it yet, this place was so unwelcoming but maybe that's the vibe they want to let on but there are plenty of bars in SF and maybe this one is the one for you if you like being treated like shit. -

I think I need to come back again, maybe not on a Saturday night at prime time. I'm not sure if I'm becoming an old man as I get older, or if I've always been an old man and I'm just accepting it now. I loved the animal head decor. LOVED. If it didn't sort of gross me out immensely I'd probably have one in my house. I got beer spilled on my shopping bag and almost on me. Beer could not stay in the bros' cups! It was starting to make me feel insane, so I left. Ski ball and other games were fun but crowded, and so of course only my male friends got to play. UGH. I'll come back sometime on a weeknight.

I miss me some Pat OSheas Pub which was the original bar conceot for this address. But if Pats isn't there as the local watering hole-----I raise my beer on tap to Buckshot! Dark wood, animal heads on the wall..... Games galore (shuffleboard, skeeball, darts, arcade). There is also a photobooth to the left of the door.
Ike turner: $12 shot of Henn & "a slap in yo face". Hahahahahahahaahah pretty hilarious
Pub food: it's cash only, counter ordering. CHICKEN FRIED BACON w a side of maple syrup. Fries, onion rings, and buffalo wings ---- worthy apps to share ESP the fries and rings. Food Note: Nizarrios Pizza Is next door. Best drunk/hang over soon!!, -

I used to come into this biatch when it was called Alpha Bar. I think I wrote a review for Alpha Bar a few years ago, when it was considered mostly an Asian bar. I guess Alpha Bar's business wasn't that hot, so it soon became Buckshot.
Buckshot definitely has an interesting theme, with somewhat of a cross between a hunter's haven/game room/white trash motif that actually works. I"m not saying that the crowd is white trash, especially since most of these youngsters are prob rich ass USF students. Yes some might be turned off by the young and mostly Caucasian crowd, which some may call douchers and douchettes, but slow your role cause everytime i've come here, it seems like these MFs just want to have fun with no drama. I definitely can't be mad at that. The thing i hate is all these white folks are hella taller than me.
With that said, the service is pretty solid and attentive, there's not really a dress code and I have no problem getting in. Parking in the area is usually not that bad either.
The times i've gone, the music has been pretty random. For some reason, even though there's no cohesiveness, the shit works. Mann i'm sick of all that top 40 shit.. fuckkkk.. how many times i gotta hear Taio Cruz or Last Friday night ... i don't wanna hear that shit for the 20th time today!! They'll play shit from Beatles to Dr. Dre to muthafuckin Van Morrison... that's the type of stuff i wanna hear!!
The one negative of the place is that they def need some kind of air filtration system or some AC coolant pumping through it. It's always pretty hot in here and has that strange smell of a swimming pool (maybe it's just me).
SO stop by and check it out, it gets the A-OK from me. If you aren't into the younger USF crowd, i recommend skipping the weekends. Make sure you get a $2 Tecate or PBR before the hipster crowd picks another cheapo beer to embrace (Natty Ice, i'm looking at you). -

Love me some skeeball! And that accompanied by good music, dancing, an easy-going crowd, and cheap drinks? The only way it could get any better is if it were closer to my neighborhood. Remember that it's cash only! I feel right at home with the décor - hunting lodge, anyone? Coupled with $2 PBR, I'm in love.
We had a fabulous Saturday night here in the spring - awesome DJ playing a great mix of new and old music, perfect for dancing. Come here for the cheap beer, the skeeball, the dancing, and the unpretentious crowd. -

Best bar in SF! Go there once and you'll be hooked. Awesome drinks, great food and a one of a kind staff. Get there!

I like this place and here's why:
1. lively, unpretentious atmosphere which makes it a great place to hang out with friends without having to worry about being disturbed
2. its location in the Inner Richmond makes it easier to find parking compared to other bar locales in downtown S.F. or the Marina
3. video and arcade games like skeeball and pool
4. good music + decent prices = fun time
The service here is about average, and even though some people consider the decor to be too busy and strange, I appreciate the fact that's it's different from the other bars in the city. I usually come here to play Photohunt, a game I'm obsessed with, so thumbs up for having that too! -

For some reason my reviews keep getting deleted which is weird. This bar is pretty sick. It's like a badass chuck e cheese. It gets packed with hipsters but they are everywhere these days. They have cool arcade games, a pool table only a few blocks from my house and relatively cheap drinks. Drunk skeeball is pretty awesome.

Review from Jon T.
So let's start off with the skeeball machines. I've been told this is the only bar that has skeeball in SF. Even if the bar really sucked, I'd at least have to give it some credit for that. In fact, I have to give it even more credit for actually being host to a skeeball tournament.
Alright, skeeball is clearly what I went for. But I was pleased to also find that the beer was pretty cheap and the music being played was surprisingly eclectic. This was on a weekday, so I can't really vouch for the weekend. From what I've heard (and read), it's really packed here and probably not somewhere you want to go unless you really like that weekend bar pick-up scene.
On a side note, I should mention that the decor was a bit creepy, at least to me. Maybe some people find dead animals kitschy, though. -

I'll be the first to admit that weekend crowds of college kids bug the S%*# out of me but this bar is a fun spot on week nights.
I have been on both Friday and Saturday early and when the college crowd came in I went out. I find myself to be a Wednesday kind of guy these days.
We have sample various fare from the menu. I loved the chicken friend bacon, liked the burger, but I found the mac n' cheese to be disappointing. Good pub grub over all, I might try the wings next time.
Kitchy decorations, skee ball (Awesome!), strong mixed drinks, and cheap beers if you must.
Now if they would just get all those amazing 80's video game machines fixed I would be dropping quarters in this place like a couple of USF students dropping their drawers on a Saturday night! -

This place is everything i ever wanted to be.
I love Dead Animals, I love Optimus Prime, and ill make out with chicken fried bacon any day of the week.
Im worry that this bar does not get the attention it deserves, residing in Obama-town. But, it still rapes over most establishments. If there was ever a bar i wanted to have sex with. This place wins hands down. -

Um this place is amazing.
AND I'm not even a 20 year old college kid. So fun. Great music-- old school / 90s / late 90s jams. Hot. Communication.
Tecate and PBR -- $2. Awesome. Photobooth-- Awesome. 38 Geary? Better than a taxi. Obviously. -

This place is so awesome. I used to live so close to this bar, but back in the days I didn't drink beer so I didn't visit this place very often. I came here with a few friends on a Saturday night and had so much fun! The DJ played awesome old school hip-hop/R&B and some popular new stuff. The bartenders are good and the drinks are cheap and food is decent. Mixed crowd, cool games, super fun night!

Alrighty then, where do I begin...? A few good taxidermy skills went into Buckshot's decor with heads mounted all over the bar. The photo booth upon entering is awfully tempting but at $5.00 a strip (of 2) I'll have to wait until I'm a little intoxicated and willing to spend the money.
The fact that this bar has skee-ball, video games, AND pool makes it one of the bars to beat within SF. The setting is perfect of SF culture, bringing in local hipsters, trend-setters, and the marina kids alike. The bartender was good at making drinks but he could lose the attitude a bit. The food in the back is AMAZING. Try the burger and load up an all other delicious sides. -

Largest private collection of taxidermied animals in California
This place would kill in Texas. Pun totally intended. After Burma Superstar and Genki Crepes, this was a welcome respite from consumption. We worked out with multiple games of skeeball and shuffleboard, witnessed a full on makeout session, chatted with the disgruntled bartender, recognized the light brite with KISS written on it and just generally enjoyed the hell out of a bar that's full of kitsch and low on pretension.
You're not going to get a mixologists dream here -- but you'll get some strong drinks and at least one good shot of you and a stuffed bear.Listed in: Five Star Studs, Cheap Cheap!, San Franspiring

I was here for a friend's birthday party, but little did we know, there were a lot more than expected.
I decided to grab some of the southern food that they serve in the back. I had the Chicken Fried Bacon. This is my first time having it, and I found it quite weird. I know that it has bacon, but I couldn't really taste it at all, as it was just so savory. The maple syrup did help a bit though.
The atmosphere itself on a Friday night was pretty sociable, with a bunch of college kids, hipsters, and middle-aged folk hanging out and having a good time.
Regarding the party that I was here for, I wasn't actually there for long. We ended up going somewhere else. -
Review from Vivek S.
The last time I played skee-ball it was in the presence of animatronic mice and I was about ten years shy of drinking age. Flash forward to my late-late 20s: root beer has been replaced by $2 PBRs and animatronic animals replaced with taxidermied ones. This is Buckshot.
There's shuffleboard, darts, skeeball, deerhunter, Super Off Road (!), a pool table, and I think a photobooth as well. The crowd is mixed to say the least. Old timers, hipsters, college kids and a set of emo-teens having a near orgy on top of a stool with zero compunction about it. It's that kind of a place.
The thin veneer of grime on everything kind of turned me off ordering any food, but I'd probably give it a shot if I was drunk enough. Give it a SHOT? Anyone? Eh?
Cheap beers and games. Check it out.
Obligatory Title Pun: You won't SHELL out a fortune at BUCKSHOT.
Menu Readability: I vaguely remember spelling mistakes on a chalkboard.
Need to mention: Apparently the largest private collection of taxidermy in California. There's a goddamn 1/4 zebra on the wall.
What this place teaches me about myself: I did my 9th birthday wrong; we should have done shots beforehand.Listed in: My San Fran Checklist

Minus the overwhelming college kid crowd, this bar is A-OK.
A plethora of arcade games, one or two? pool tables, two skeeball machines, decent music and an above average bar menu. (CASH ONLY) Definitely one of the better night spots in the Richmond.
I'll definitely be back during a week night for some skeeball, but I certainly won't miss the skeezy 21 year olds in their SFSU costume trying to buy me a PBR.

i saw a commercial for this place on tv and was sold on how awesome it was. but then i got there and it wasn't that awesome.
it could have been that indian summer heat, but it was crowded and sweltering in there, i couldn't breathe and my cold beer was quickly downgrading to warm.
there is one skeeball machine and a pool table tho. and lots of good beers. -

"If someone is looking for their sh*t, it's behind the skee ball machine." --bartender
This pretty much sums up the awesome night you will have at Buckshot Restaurant, Bar, and Gameroom. My favorite was the shuffle board! A lot of the arcade games were turned off besides the hunting game, but there is so much going on, you cannot get bored here! Skee ball machines, photo booth, shuffle board, pool, small dance floor, and bar. I really wanted to try out the food, but we just had pizza next door. Also, for $12, you can get a shot of Jameson and a slap in the face! Who wouldn't want that? LOL This is predominately a hipster crowd, but actually quite diverse. Just a chill spot that is a nice change of pace from the clubs =) -

Talk about awesome!
This place is out in the Richmond district and as you roll up, you should not be surprised to see people stumbling out of the place, drunk off their steez, enjoying themselves and maybe others.
You walk in and what you will quickly notice, is that the place is filled with nostalgia games. Skiball, darts, mini shuffleboards, beer pong, hell there were even dudes ARM wrestling in the way back! I was impressed and the place was packed, rightly so. The crowd was fairly mixed, pretty much filled mostly with 30 and younger types. You can have yourself a great time meeting, or running into new people too. Drinks are pretty reasonable as well $4 for a Heineken. I didn't get much harder on the liquor that night, but they go full bar.
I can't remember the last time I heard some awesome Hip Hop DJ work, from a fellow DJ to another I always make an effort to give the dude working the wheels a pound. That's the right way to hold a party down. The only problem is that it is far from where I live - good to go though. -

My favorite bar, when you step inside it feels like you're inside a cabin. Drinks are affordable. Bar tenders are cool and the bouncers are hilarious. The food is delicious and the photobooth is a delightful. Basically, I love this place. A total dream bar.

If you are in the area you NEED to stop by buckshot because this place is hilariously fun and, best of all, AFFORDABLE.
I was in the city bar hopping with my friends while staying at my friend's place near USF. She mentioned that we absolutely needed to check out Buckshot because her roommates go and always have a good time.
Upon arrival, the bar took a bit of getting use to. It's a large space with so much to look at (animal heads, skeeball, photobooth, old school arcade games, the food menus, etc.). We came on a Wednesday night so it wasn't too crowded and getting our $2 PBR was easy. Unfortunately the arcade games weren't on, which made me sad because I really wanted to check on the Tron game, but it's okay, Buckshot makes up for it with FREE shuffleboard. The table itself is old, but there is plenty of sand (or whatever that grainy stuff is) so it's legit. The only other bar I know of that does free shuffleboard has almost no sand which drastically reduces the fun factor.
It was all of our first time ever playing but still tried to hash out a few games after watching people and reading Wikipedia. Some guys challenged us to doubles and were kind enough to teach us how to play properly all while absolutely killing us at shuffleboard. Nevertheless I had a great time and learned some awesome tips/tricks to improve my skillz. Cheap beer AND a great crowd - what a place!
If your'e hungry I recommend the Guiness float. I KNOW it's not food, but omg, the combination taste of coffee deliciousness (think irish car bomb) and for $5 that is the same price as a normal root beer float! I think we had the fries and I don't remember it being particularly memorable, so no fanfare.
Despite the questionable feeling I get with the dark atmosphere and mounted animal heads, hands down this is the most interesting and unique bar I have ever been to. -

Not too crowded around 9 on a Saturday. Stars for the pool table, shuffle board, darts, and old school arcade games. There's even a photo booth! There was a DJ and there is a "dance floor." Not my type of music though. One TV, and it's super small...so if you're looking to catch the Giants games, this isn't the place to go.
Food is available, but I didn't try it out. Smelled hella good though! -

I always have a great time at Buckshot. Always.
First of all it's a really down to earth, laid back, casual bar with a great happy hour and drink specials. There has been a DJ every time I have been and he's always spinning great music. When they play oldies, funk and Motown it's such a great scene on the dance floor.
They have a nice long bar, good bartenders, and pool tables. They also serve food, which is pretty good. It's just such a random, dive-y fun bar. They play funky old movies, have taxidermy figures all over the walls and a ski ball game. However, the women's bathroom could be improved but all the crap on the walls is entertaining and adds to the bars character.
Most importantly they have a drink called the Ike Turner: A shot of Hennessy and a slap in yo face.
This bar is great.
But good look catching a cab at the end of the night.Listed in: Dancing
