I read a few reviews before going to Bucks. We wanted pizza, for an evening picnic. Like most reviews, I agree the prices are pretty ridiculous. Pizza in most places in the world are the cheapest meal to purchase. Buck's has mystery prices when you order, we placed a walk- in order, and couldn't find a price list. They do have a size chart, we ordered a large, which at most pizzerias would be a medium. Total price for a large pepperoni pizza cost us $15.60. This same pizza would be $5.00 at any other pizzeria across America.  With their location, and no competition they can get away with over charging. So don't think it's a cheap alternative to going out. The large was plenty of food for three people. They had plates, plastic forks & knifes too. We walked next door to the Piggly Wiggly for sodas. The pizza was actually really good. Reminded us of a bar pizza we had in New Glarus, Wisconsin, this pizza was well cooked, with the perfect amount of sauce and pepperoni. We found the staff to be very friendly! We ate under $20's, I find it crazy some people would drop $60+ for pizza as I read in previous reviews. Don't worry about having to drink a gallon of water after eating this pizza, not too salty or garlic-ie that you might get at most local pizzas joints. Edisto Island needs another pizzeria to keep Buck's honest in pricing and portions. We stayed within our budget for tonights meal, but could have done better. Pizza should be a cheap meal, though not at Buck's.

It really should be named Yucks or
Up-Chucks.  Portions were skimpy, prices were high and the pizza was undercooked, flavorless and rubbery. You'd be better off buying a frozen pizza.  Save your money for something else.

Good pizza but I can't give this place higher than a 2 because it's ridiculously expensive. I ordered 2 XL pizzas and a small salad and it came to $60, but somehow the pizzas looked no bigger than a typical large. By the time our party of 4 got done everyone was still hungry!

Go to Buck's if and only if you wanna get scalded. Otherwise, the lady's right, get a Tombstone. I could've gotten 15 of em for the price I paid.

I must say, after reading all these previews reviews, I'm slightly disappointed. My fiance and I went with his parents to Edisto for spring break in March '11. My fiance and I were riding bikes around the island and decided to stop for pizza. The guy behind the counter took a few seconds to greet us, but he was so cool and enthusiastic! He told us about history in Charleston, about the Loggerhead turtles laying their eggs on the beach, what was going on in the community, asked where we were from.. He was very informative & friendly. & The pizza was really delicious and cheesy. We felt we had paid a fair price for a small pizza for the 2 of us, we don't need much. We ended up getting engaged our last night in Edisto. It's definately a special place for our family. I plan on going back to Buck's Pizza the next time we visit Edisto.

I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're a starving family of 5 with a $25 budget, but if you want some hot, fresh pizza and don't need the red carpet rolled out when you walk in the door, this place is great.

I will pretty much echo the sentiments of the one previous reviewer for Buck's. Pretty good pizza, pretty indifferent service. The girl behind the counter didn't greet us or say anything to us until we started ordering. There are only 3 tables inside the air-conditioned part (which is another negative point), but our table's napkin dispenser was still empty. It also seemed like the fountain for the diet coke had a problem with it's formula, as it was too watery.

But the pizza was decent, so I'd say if you're on the island and looking for pizza, just call ahead and pick up. You can get an extra large pizza + bread sticks for about $25.

The staff act like emotionless robots, occasionally leaving their catatonic state to express their one and only emotion (irritation) if confused by your order. Despite there being no other customers, they couldn't be bothered to clean the tables. But in such an isolated location there's not much in the way of competition and Buck's always ends up being our choice for pizza. The one redeeming factor is that the quality of food from the kitchen infers there's someone back there who gives a care.

The kids (college age) always insist on pizza at least once during our beach vacations.  Buck's is definitely the best we've had on Edisto Island. Compared to the mainland offerings its quality can still hold its own. The four of us had a large Caesar salad, a large Chicken Alfredo pizza, a basket of 15 wings (sauce-less so as to please everyone), and my daughter had a small build-your-own pizza.  With 4 soft drinks this set us back almost $60. OUCH!

The crust on both pizzas were top quality.  The bacon on the Alfredo pizza was both crunchy and tasty. My daughter's BBQ Chicken pizza was equally delicious she said.  The wings were good (hard to mess up actually) and the institutional Ranch Dressing packets were actually quite flavorful.  The salad was fresh and the Ken's Caesar dressing packet actually went well with it.

There is a large screened-in patio with comfortable seats, which offers much more seating than the tiny air conditioned counter area. Self-service fountain refills are available inside as well.  We saw a lot of take-out orders being picked up near the end of our meal, so it's definitely a favorite with the other tourists also.

They pretty much own the pizza market at the beach.  I've only eaten here once and it was "take out" so I can't really elaborate much other than that the pizza dough is spongy though not thick but certainly not the crunchy crust sort of pizza.  And they don't overwhelm you with loads of cheese either.  Far better than any chain and perhaps next time we'll indulge in their wings.  The menu is actually quite extensive so go take a stab...you got nothing to lose since eventually you're gonna or someone close to you is gonna want some pizza.

Great restaurant for take-out! The best pizza on the island. Check out this menu for Buck's....http://www.edistoisland.com/restaurants/ bucksmenu.php

Pizza was pretty poor and the portions too small.  Our $17 "Buck's Deluxe" did not even fill our modest family.  Service was laughable.  Be sure you Really want pizza before going to the only pizza place on the island.  You may be better off with Tombstone's from The Pig.
