OK, if you're in the area of Quincy in Plumas County, you've gotta check this place out.
Excellent for day trippers. The Sandy Point area has lots of tables and grills along a modest beach area. There's a big parking lot for cars and boat trailers, launch ramp, showers and public facilities.
The water is clean, cool and calm, and you get to ride speed boat waves when they scoot by! Awesome scenery with forest and mountain backdrops. Lots of wild life. Ducks, chipmunks, geese, jays. While in the water we saw a mother duck and her babies swimming in a perfect line right by us only a few feet away! What a cool thing to experience.
Just a hint, it's about 5,000 ft. elevation and about 10 degrees cooler than the canyon. So if it's in the 90's in Quincy, it's perfect at Buck's Lake. And bring some Cutter repellent for bugs.
It's too cool! You'll have this daydream for weeks at work! -

Maybe it was just the company but one of the best camping trips I've ever been on. It is secluded and beautiful nestled up on a mountain and surrounded by tons of trees. Big beautiful lake, a little chilly but totally worth taking the 40 minute drive up the mountain.
The park rangers weren't assholes, the spots are pretty far apart so no one complained about noise. Not too many people were really even there. Be sure to bring bug repellant though because there are tons of mosquitos.
There is a cool little bar/restaurant/gift shop up the road a ways that provided us some good times. We ate some yummy food at the restaurant and drank some damn good drinks there too. Highly recommended campgrounds. Good time for sure. -

We took a little family vacation here and found it to be a great place to get away.
We stayed in a log cabin at Bucks Lake Lodge, rented a boat for the day and did a lot of hiking. We even headed over to the lodge and played some pool while we had a few drinks.
The lodge as well as the boat rental is very affordable compared to known vacation spots. -

Great place to camp and take the family if you go with friends you split the campground and it is about a cheap as it gets. Didn't fish but we tubed all day and the beach area was adequate and clean. This is an area when you just look at it and the surrounding you can see why people love this part of CA.

A simply beautiful place to go for a hike, boating, or a day at the beach. This is a "high sierra" lake it is at an elevation of 5,200 feet. When I show people pictures they think I've visited Lake Tahoe. I imagine it's very much like Lake Tahoe although I've never been there. Buck's Lake isn't very crowded, and it's quite clean and pristine. It is located 17 miles southwest of Quincy, past the small community of Meadow Valley. So go to Buck's Lake marina and rent a boat, enjoy a nice hike, or camp there for the weekend.
