This is one of our favorite places to go and have a nice meal. We have eaten here a few times and always enjoy our food. I love all of the unique options such as duck tamales or rabbit enchiladas.
Last night I had the buffalo meatloaf and my husband had the rabbit mole enchiladas. Both were excellent.

If there is one thing they can improve on here it would be the service. The service is certainly not terrible, but it can definitely be better. Overall, it is a great place to visit in Moab.

We tried Buck's Grill House for dinner one night in Moab.  They have a bar to eat at or main dining room.  They also have a outside patio, but they didn't have the patio available for anyone that evening.  I picked main dining room for our group of 5.

FREE cold bread & butter - nothing special about it.

    M. got the Special salad of the night: asparagus salad.  It was a few long asparagus w/ goat cheese.  Looked ok, M. liked it.  It looked like an appetizer not a main meal, but she couldn't eat much.

Stack of bones $9.95 - appetizer of 3 small ribs.  I got a taste & enjoyed the ribs.  Small, not dry & good flavor.

Caesar $8.95 - HUGE bowl of salad w/ croutons.  Enough for 2 people, I ate it for my entree.  Just ok.

Duck tamale entree $16.95 - 2 duck tamales, some creamed corn, black beans, rice.  It was pretty good.

Steak salad $11.95 - lettuce, s, 3 slices of tomatoes, croutons, red onions, some steak.  I tried a piece of the steak - very dry!  Couldn't eat it.

Loud restaurant, food was ok: Get the Ribs or Duck Tamales!

FREE Long toothpick book with your bill.  Cool.

If you are going to provide an upscale menu with unique items you have to provide service. All the ambiance in the world is not going to make up for bland service.

The food was unique and it was alright. The outside patio was well designed and provided a great back drop for Moab.  Our server and the servers around us were just blah.  Yes it was mothers day and maybe the wait staff wanted to be home but be thankful you have a job and do a good job to please your mother.  I loved the guitar players line "Happy Mothers day; the only mother I knew was mother nature and she rained on my parade more than once"  Great line on mothers day!

The deal breaker for me was not accepting Amex.  If you had any sense you would realize they may charge a % of a % more but Amex card holders spend double digits more than Visa or MC cardholders.
No recommendation for Buck's grill house

Hmmmm.....the menu was quite interesting which is why we tried Bucks.  I really want to give it a 3.5 starts but I couldn't bring myself to rate it 4 so......here it is.

The food was decent...nothing to write home about but it also wasn't the worst I have tried in Moab.  The service was typical Moab....always forgetting something about the order.  For example, a margarita with Grand Marnier should have an orange tint to it....nope....I don't think it had any.  Utah is not known for their margarita making skills...we have proven that this trip.

Anyway back to Bucks.  I had the Adobo meat and goat cheese crepes and the food tastes somewhat bland.  The Port flan was pretty good.  My husband had the special sirloin and it looked okay be he didn't rave about it either.

Bucks is not the best restaurant in the area but I wouldn't steer folks away either.  Just go in there with eyes wide open.

What a surprise! A high-end BBQ joint in Moab! Our local friends took us here and called it one of their 2 favorite places to eat in Moab. I have to say, I can see why! The menu has all kinds of interesting options from Duck Tamale, to Buffalo burgers and Rabbit Mole enchiladas. We started with a vegetable ceviche which was a glorified chunky salsa. I had a Chili Rellano with adobo sauce and pumpkin seeds and it was not the least bit average. My margarita was very good as was the dirty martini I started off with. I had to finish the butterscotch flan by myself since the whiskey didn't exactly cook off and my fellow diners were either non drinkers or lactose intolerant. No problem, it was tasty! Even if it did get me drunk ;-)  Service was top notch and there was a live musician who played some great tunes on his guitar. I'll be back!

Great food with depth of flavors, presentation was excellent. Friend and I had duck enchiladas and veggie chili relleno- would come back for more.  Asparagus and goat cheese salad as appetizer were delicious and pretty- I'll be trying this at home.
Waitress was attentive (note it was a slow night). Her boyfriend was at the bar and she stood by him with his arm around her when she wasn't busy - a tad unprofessional in my opinion.

Big fat ditto to Connie M. for stating the menu reads better than the food.  I ordered a buffalo burger, and I'm pretty sure was a frozen patty.  Not a lot of flavor.  Hubs got a rabbit tamale, which also wasn't very district in flavor.  We did, however, enjoy the trio of sausages we got for an appetizer - an elk, boar, and buffalo sausage - but I didn't like that they topped them with mustard instead of giving a choice.  The bread that came with our meal was pretty good.  Hubs got a Polygamy Porter to drink... pretty flat and one-dimensional in flavor.  All in all, this meal was "ok," we left full, but underwhelmed and $60 poorer than when we walked in the door.

These other reviews are too picky. This is Moab, not the big city. The menu has amazing options, and the food was outstanding! For the money, this easily a 5 star. Two of us  had an appetizer, entrees, desserts, several drinks, and it was under $150 including a generous tip. We ate out 10 nights in a row during our stay in Moab, and this was by far the best of it.

Dined here on a Saturday night...we made reservations for 6:30.  It wasn't particularly crowded when we arrived, though it did fill up.

I tried the Polygamy Porter, and as far as porters go, it was fairly blah.  I wouldn't get it again.  We all shared the wild game skewers, and those were great.  The homemade bread was yum.  Entrees among the four of us: pork chop, trout, rack of ribs, and soup of the day.  Everybody priddy much liked their choices.  The MIL thought the mixed veggies with her meal were especially good, compared to other higher-end restaurants she has dined at in the past.  My tomato blue cheese soup was not what I expected - when the tomato is listed as the first ingredient in a named edible, that's what I expect to make up most of it.  In this case, it was blue cheese with just a touch of tomato - for color, mostly.  Eeeek.

Our waitress was fine - not exceptional either way, just fine.

Reading the reviews, and comparing them to the website, I couldn't understand why so many people gave it four--not five-- stars.  Now having eaten there, I get it.

The menu promises an amazing experience, truly complex flavors with undeniably unique entrees.  I ordered the vegetable enchiladas, eager for a vegetarian option that wasn't the standard grilled portabello or veggie burger or pasta.  But the sauce overpowered the rest of the dish; I couldn't taste anything really besides the adobo sauce and the wheaty tortilla.  The rice and beans were tasty-- probably largely because they had a different flavor than the various cut-up veggies inside the tortilla.  Nothing to rave about, but good and hearty after a full day of exploring Arches.

My mom got the Caesar salad and the elk stew.  Both were good.  But don't expect the elk stew to revolutionize your ideas about what red meat tastes like... It's not radically different from beef.  Still, the dish was really tasty (I had a bit, despite my pseudo-vegetarianism, and I can attest to how good it was).

My mom also asked for a wine recommendation from the bartender, who was also our server, and he suggested a light red to go with the heavy elk stew.  What? We questioned it at first, and were right to do so.  Elk wanted cab. Pretty clearly.

The comment card they gave us at the end asked if we would go back to Buck's on a return trip to Moab.  The answer isn't really yes or no--because it was a good meal. The answer is, quite frankly, "not without trying somewhere else first."

    Delicious!
When they ask me how I want my steak, I always tell them: "pink, but not bloody." When they accept that without the need for further clarification, they just earned a bunch of points in my book. That only scratches the surface of customer service at Buck's.
Add to it incredibly delicious food, a full bar and a no shooting in the restaurant policy and you've got my business.
Buck himself comes out to check on every table when he's there and he's a real nice guy.
If you're ever in Moab, you just gotta stop at Buck's for supper!

5 for Moab. 4 in Big City.

Had buffalo meatloaf with mashed and roasted root veg one night. Friend had awesome t-bone with bleu cheese special.  Both terrific.

Went back again and had the Pork Shank which was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked.  Friend had the double cut pork chop.  Pork Rib and roasted vegetable appetizers both great.  Curried Lentil soup was outstanding.  Pecan pie was as good as it gets.

They serve food that is simple yet elegant, not trying to be over complicated but striving for something more.  Just the right blend.  A seasonal local menu it seams but not really sure.  It should be if not.

Service was professional, helpful, and quick.  We did eat first week of season.

Full nice bar area with flat screens.

    $50 each.

Worth every penny if you can afford it.

    Can't wait to return.

I think the menu reads better than the food. Like the concept of artichoke ceviche is so appealing, but I had so much tabasco that it was one note. Flat. My friend thought the small sirloin with pinto beans was perfect. I certainly inhaled my pork chop--the glaze was great.   Mint ice cream... Eh. My cocktail... Eh. I guess my overall experience was solid, exceptional relative to Moab, okay if you live somewhere with real options.

I guess I should've looked at the menu before coming here. Not really into elk stew or rabbit salad or buffalo meatlof. I feel ike I'm eating Bambi's friends even though I eat meat.

I ordered this catfish patty with something else, it really wasn't anything amazing. It was a deep fried thing but I couldn't identify anything cuz it was pretty much cut up finely or put through a blender.

    It was alright.

Fantastic little place in Moab, Utah; I had the New York strip steak special with succotash and vegetables, all of which was superb. The caesar salad was equally delicious, and my wife had good things to say about her vegetable enchilada, too, and the daily gazpacho special rated raves, too. Definitely a find in Moab!

I give it a "spendy" rating, but that was mainly because of what we ordered; it's certainly possible to get less than that on this menu, but you'll deprive yourself of some of the house specialties.

Minor tip: the address as listed is incorrect, it should be on Main St.

They're open late by Moab standards, til 10:00 pm on a Wednesday.

I really think Rob X summed up my view of this restaurant...the menu is more ambitious than the execution.  I loved the creative entree selections...

Our service was slowww...think it may have just been that particular server

I would still recommend as a place to go in Moab...just didn't rock me the way I expecting though I will admit to being tired from hours of hiking in Arches and would be willing to give it another chance.

A 5 star restaurant in Moab? Well, if you don't factor in the drinks, yes! Four of us after a terrific day in Arches National Park, decided to treat ourselves to a good dinner and Yelped. Buck's rose to the top easily and was an easy decision.

We four had two appys: The goat cheese Quesadilla and the Artichoke Ceviche--both absolutely delicious; original, and so far, unique.

The bread was a fresh-baked dense crusty white bread that was excellent.

Our drinks were the only disappointment, two mojitos and two House margaritas were on the watered-down side and just OK. And for $8 & $9/drink we expected better quality.

But the food, ah the food!

The prettiest corn chowder I've ever seen was quite good with a fresh perfectly done Caesar salad. A side of mashed potatoes was a yellow Yukon style with skin that really was excellent.

We also had what sounded like an ordinary dish prepared extra-ordinarily: Roasted Chicken Breast stuffed with a fantastic blue cheese/pumpernickel stuffing. (See pic)

A unique set of dishes were (1) the Carne Bajio which was a slow-cooked beef dish in a spicy Adobo sauce layered with pinto beans and short grained rice and then a layer of  quartered crepes (See Pic) and (2) the Elk Stew simmered with root veggies and a horseradish cream that simply made the dish. (See Pic).

I'd never had Elk before but it did not taste any different from beef. If the menu hadn't said it, I probably would not have known-- it was not gamy or fatty, just fracking delicious comfort food.

The back seating area was surrounded literally by a small artificial stream with two water fountains with a unique iron fence that was a much art as it was function.

The weather was perfect for outdoor dining, friendly prompt service and all it all a very special ending to a awesome day.

It's all relative, but this is pretty darn good, particularly when compared to the other offerings I've tried in Moab. Service is good, the food is fresh, solid, and bordering on creativity nearing the scale of a major metropolitan area.

It all started with the cilantro pesto pasta with chicken - which was flavorful, colorful and very yummy... it inspired me to go back to Buck's a second night. Had the stuffed grilled chicken, which was pretty good, but nothing to the level of my third meal there... a blow your mind creation, which was the "special of the day" (they served it more than one day), that consists of a halibut fillet with a lemon wine reduction, shrooms, and asparagus baked in parchment paper. It was heavenly.

Would totally go back again if I find myself in Moab.

Buck's was easily the best place we've been in Utah. The food was very good. We went on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was hosting a large party, but the lounge was almost empty. The decor had a cool minimalist-southwest feel. Cuisine is influenced by the region.

The Buffalo meatloaf was fantastic, as was the trout. The elk stew was pretty good, though not hot enough for our friend who ordered it. Prices are reasonable, on the high end for Moab. The price range of menu items is large: burgers to fancy steaks. Good vegetarian options for a place that specializes in meat. Dessert was above average, but nothing unusually great.

Excellent! Elk and buffalo sausages with a mustard aioli sauce - fantastic, though it would be nice to know which was which. Grilled romaine leaves with duck bacon - superb!  I had an original dish of crepes filled with goat cheese, ground beef, and green chile - so much food I couldn't finish and oh how I wish I could. My only complaint was the promised 20 minute wait for a table turned into well over an hour with no attempt at accommodation for the inconvenience (why not comp an appetizer or drink?), but the quality of the food made up for everything!!!

After riding all day I asked the Taxi driver "If you only had one night to eat in MOAB, where would you go?", his choice for dinner was Bucks Grill House. The steak was a bone-in Ribeye, a solid 8.8 / 10. Indoor/outdoor seating, Drinks flowed nicely..... they even opened back up for us as we arrived 5 minutes after closing. Waitress was 8/10, I overhead another waitress commenting negatively about us "still" being here.... bummer.

Definitely my favorite dinner in MOAB, UT, they should be proud of their restaurant and menu...

UNEXPECTED QUALITY & SERVICES WITH A VERY ECLECTIC SOUTHWESTERN TASTE

Couple weeks ago me, a couple of friends and my wife went ahead and took a 5 days road trip to the 4 Corners States area. Our last stop was in Moab right next to the Arches National Park and while in the hotel we have decided to try out this Buck's Grill House since we haven't had any good and wholesome Southwestern food there yet. So 4 of us pack our butts and off to the Buck's. The first thing is that this place is right smack in the close proximity to the Arches National Park. We loved the interior decor, well for me especially a real bull head hanging off the wall.

We got seated very quickly in the dining hall indoor and I ordered the Carne Bajio which was the shredded beef wrapped in crepes. I really like the taste of the sauces and the spices they put in there. My wife got the Double Cut Pork Chop(just huge) in which she had it carved up like a mini arches. My other friend ordered the Grilled Fresh Rainbow Trout and Duck Tamales. Both looked and tasted excellent also(and that's from a very picky eater's mouth).

For those first timers we highly recommend their Southwest Pizza as an appetizer. It's layered with southwestern ingredients and with a thin crust. It tops all our dishes by far.....!

Anyhow, we had been peppered with constant cares and services and we came out not broke, which was a very good thing. I highly recommend this joint to anybody who visit Moab, it's a must have dining experience - Southwestern style.....!!!

This is probably the best restaurant in Moab if you're looking for a three course menu after a day of hiking. Food was original and not over priced. We had the lamp shank and the elk stew, which were good. The duck tamales was a little bit desapointing. Desserts were OK and they had a decent wine list for Utah.
The only issuewas the guy at the front desk: he was so off that he looked stone. In the dining room, our waitress was French canadien and very nice and helpful.
    I will recomend the place.

First class food and service!  In the past I had the vegetabel enchiladas and my husband had the pork chop.  The waitered said they roast the vegetables in the enchilada and that is why they are so good.  Yum!  We stop by every time we are in Moab.  This time my vegetable enchiladas were not on the menu and so I had the special which was a tamale and chile releno.  It was good also and my husband had a steak.  This is still my favorite place in Moab.

This time I went they didn't get the order right although my steak was delicious. I ordered medium well and got medium rare. Some of the sides were a bit bland. I think they were having a bad night. The place was empty yet service was slow. The buffalo meat loaf is still the best thing on the menu. Another member of our party had it (I had it last time) and he thought it was great.

Based on the recommendation of the person that worked at the Landmark Inn we decided to come here for dinner.  After an entire day riding the Slickrock trail in Moab we were ready to get our grub on.

I had a hankering for steak so I ordered the Grilled Ribeye, medium rare.  It was a huge cut and it came covered in yummy bbq sauce.  Also came with mashed potatoes and vegetables for sides.  The meat came out a little undercooked and it wasn't extremely tender but still good.  The glass of cabernet sauvignon I ordered went well with the steak.  They had a decent wine selection that was reasonably priced.

It's decorated in a lodge sort of theme and seems to be one of the nicer restaurants in Moab.  Bill came out to $100 for two including tax and tip.  Service was pretty good too.

This was the best restaurant we tried in Moab.  I had the buffalo meatloaf, and my mom had the elk stew.  Both were really tasty.  I was worried when the veg side was described as cauliflower, green beans and carrots (sounded like frozen to me) but it was actually fresh and good.

The wine selection was pretty good for Utah, and the fresh baked bread was really tasty.

My only negative was the service... it took a while to get our order taken (our server was serving a big party, so we understood), but then, after we placed our orders, it was about 60 seconds before our entrees came.  I don't think I'd even managed my first bite of bread or my second sip of wine?  It was very odd.  I understand that stew and meatloaf aren't cooked to order, but it was still odd.

We ate inside as it was a bit chilly, but the patio out back looked lovely.

    Anh.

In our party, two folks ordered steak... and apparently that was a mistake.   The meat was described as odd and flavorless.    Our steak a few days later at Olive Garden was miles ahead of this; considering the price, that is an epic fail.

Now what Buck's does have is a bit more variety than the diner/burger/pizza joints that dominate the area.   I order some beef enchilada like things, and they were reasonably good.    The elk meat loaf was also a win.

Steer clear of the steak and you'll be fine.    Considering how hard it is to find anything other than mexican, pizza, or burgers in Moab, this place is still worth a visit.

Food was all really good here.  This place was recommended to us by reception at the Rustic Inn (affordable and clean place).  The steak was cooked perfectly to order.  The ribs were cooked well and very lightly seasoned for those watching their salt intake.  My favorite was the vegetable lasagna which contained polenta layers instead of pasta.  Everything was good because it was not over salted (may be considered under seasoned to some) and fresh.  They had outdoor seating but we stayed indoors to avoid getting any more mosquito bites.  Wait staff was friendly and attentive.

I decided on my honeymoon to the southwest that I wanted pork. A nice fat cut of a chop charred to perfection. Where oh where would I find such a masterpiece?  Yelpers lead me to Buck's and upon checking the menu to see a cowboy cut chop, I was sold.

Enter Buck's. It's clean and fairly updated looking on the interior.  A lounge providing an intimate dining experience for a younger crowd is on the right, the main dining area is on the left, and an isolated patio is at the back.  Buck's despite its comfortable aura, does not boast much ambience.  A concrete floor, exposed ceiling rafters and simple decor leave you wanting more, like a fireplace or bear skin rug beneath you, something to round out the bleh space.

To our satisfaction, the food taste and price surpassed the dull surroundings.  For an appetizer, Dave and I ordered the duck tamale served with a mild dark chili sauce.  It was well flavored and moist but I am no connoisseur of tamales.  My entree, as hinted before, was the cowboy cut pork chop.  This cut of meat was something of dreams.  Approx 1.5 in thick, charred all around, and smothered in a cherry something sauce which did not take anything away from the delicious crunch of the char.  The meat itself couldn't have been cooked better. It was sinewy like a good game chop might feel to the bite but also tender and rosy pink in the thick.  The fat hugged the edges of the meat and the bone but didn't overwhelm.  Forget the sides, they weren't anything to speak about. Besides, the chop was filling enough.  Now Dave ordered the game hen, marinated in citrus, split, de-boned, and grilled with skin.  This thing was tender as could be with a rich flavor.  Absolutely divine.  Again, the side was so so but better than the former, barley risotto swam in the juices of the chicken marinated. Or did the chicken swim in the juices of the risotto??

The menu has a nice range of meal prices, nothing to squack at.  The pork was $21 and I would easily spend this again. The bird was less than $20.  All in all, don't go to buck's for a romantic dinner, but go for a quality cooked meat and tasty meal.  If you're like me, nothing's more romantic than nibbling the charred juicy fat from a pork bone!

Really good food by Moab standards. Prices are surprisingly reasonable, again, by Moab standards. Moab has its own standards and that's not necessarily a good thing. Back to the restaurant review though. This is a large restaurant with a delightful full-service patio out back. A lot of thought and creativity has been put into the menu. We ordered three different entrees and all were delicious and fun.

Bucks is easily one of the best dining experiences in Moab. However, that is a very low bar. There is little competition, but Bucks could hang in any crowd. Great food that is exceptionally prepared, and a thoughtful and attentive wait staff sets Bucks apart from any other restaurant in town. Be warned, though; this isn't a cheap place.

When I was at Arches I drove by this place 3 times, pondering whether to try it or go to a cheaper place. I am SO GLAD I stopped here. One of the best places I have tried! The duck tamales appetizer was unreal, elk stew entree was superb and the buffalo burger was supreme. Waitstaff was professional and friendly. Seating outside on back patio was a great atmosphere. We didn't try the steaks due to budget constraints but if I ever come back I will be sure to dig into one, they looked awesome!

I had the buffalo meatloaf and it was pretty good. Not sure I liked the sauce it was in. My friend had the elk stew. Tasted it and thought the meat tasted ok but the sauce was really good. Was great dipping the bread in it. Had the lemon mousse for dessert. Was pretty good. Overall the food was the best I've had in Moab. It's good but not great. I think the best in town.

Went there to celebrate a Bday.  Very nice staff and good interesting food with a southwestern flare!  They brought a lovely Birthday dessert as well!
