The only bad thing about Buck's is that it's not open 24 hours. (Okay, and the retarded saloon-style door that will make you spill your coffee, fall down the steps, and/or whack someone in the face.) Everything else is awesome -- the coffee, the tea, the soups, the trail mixes, the banana nut muffins, the crazy staff, the free wifi... I could go on and on.
Oh, and the Le Bus sandwiches are kind of soggy and icky, but that's true of any prepared sandwich that sits around a coffeeshop fridge case all day. -

Oh Bucks.. what would I do without you?
Good coffee.
Great tea (whoever's idea it was to stock Mighty Leaf, I commend you).
Oh so yummy lemon poundcake to which I have an unhealthy addiction....
Free wi-fi.
Conveniently located right across the street from school.
Yes. Wonderful Bucks. -

I'm gonna divide my review into two parts: 1) the Bucks County Coffee on Sansom and 2) the Bucks at 40th and Locust.
Location One, the original, used to be, and perhaps still is, that super hip place where you and your semi-hip Philosophy TA would meet to talk about that dreadfully unhip paper you submitted on the Categorical Imperative. The rugged, bohemian interior made you feel like, uh, I don't know: a philosopher. Or a hip bohemian version of Ross from Friends. And then, of course, there's the great Sansom Street location, amidst many of University City's finest restaurants, on that quaint -- can I say quaint without sounding girly? -- on that extremely classy little street.
Location Two, the new Bucks up at the west end of campus, near the high-rises -- it's okay, I guess. It just doesn't have personality. It's just another Starbucks concept, except with slightly different coffee. One good thing I can say, however, is that the employees pick their own music at Bucks, and that girl with the piercings and the crazy hair (I think it's her behind the selections) -- that girl has remarkable taste.
Finally: I'm originally from Bucks County, and I have know idea what we have to do with coffee. -

Good coffee. They make my doppio machiato much better than they do at Starbucks (yep, I'm a coffee snob).
Better music than Starbucks. In fact I'd go here all the time if I it were on the way to my classes. Sometimes I leave for class early just so I can go out of my way to go to Bucks. It so good that it's worth a detour to class.
It looses 1/2 a star because the space feels cramped. The space doesn't flow very well...once you order a coffee you're trapped and then have to squeeze through people to get back to the door. And another 1/2 star because there are no comfy chairs. -

I always get myself stuck on the doors to this place, the doors are skinny, with pretty tight springs. I'm not the skinny type. so when I finally wrestle my way in, it's all good. It feels very intellectual here, people always studying or having deep discussions and it can almost feel like a litte cafe with the tight quarters. The iced coffee has a little taste of I think caramel which makes it a little sweeter. The food is pretty decent though a bit pricey for a pre-made sandwich/wrap, the soups are quality and that's what I usually go for.
ps: they have a back door at the one on Sansom that lets you out onto moravian alley so if you don't need the sugars and the creams that's the way to go on busy day. -

This is hardly a spot, it's a nook. Still, I'd bypass Starbuck's for some Buck's County brew. And truth be told, I'd pass 'em both for some Dunkin'. That's just me.
This is a cool little stop and go coffee shop that adds character to the spots up and down the street. Interestingly enough, there's another location like four blocks away. -

The banana split latte...quite possibly the most delicious beverage I've ever tasted. This is my favorite Bucks too. Fewer people seem to know about it than the other one in University City.
