2 reviews for Buckroe Beach and Park
Also forgot , I guess the Division Of Parks there in Hampton. Had what I believe was the lifeguards down around the water that morning with nets catching small fish, crabs, and other small animals and shell life. They set up a display under a canopy tent on the beach at the boardwalk with little tanks. So you could take your children up there and see these things and touch and handle them. That was pretty neat for the kids as well for some adults. This in my opinion was unique.

A good, small, community-oriented beach/park. I was staying on the Peninsula and wanted some beach time, but didn't feel like sitting in bridge-tunnel traffic to get down to Norfolk or VA Beach. It looked like Buckroe was my only option, and it turned out to be a pretty good option. The sand is very clean (aside from the occasional cigarette butt--yes you can smoke on this beach) and the water is not too rough. There's a lifeguard, volleyball nets, a long pier (I think for fishing), and a big pavilion right off the beach where you can get some shade. I can imagine lots of people getting married at Buckroe. Overall a great place to bring your kids or a group of friends. Not a stunner, but I've got no complaints.
