I have been going to Buckley's on Queen Anne for a long time. I have heard rumors about how Buckley's became. Lets just say someones Bad Karma became Buckley's Good Karma.
For just a warm place to get a good beer and awesome food.
One thing that is noticed is that the service in this place is great.
Food is good, I like the Asian Salad but I do it without the Bacon.
Great little neighborhood joint. -

Let me preface this with: I'll be back to give it another chance. Maybe.
Stopped in here because every other place we went was packed. There were several diners in the restaurant but it was by NO means packed.
We wanted to watch the Mariners game and the host was a little befuddled. What? You want to see a local sports team on tv at a local sports bar? I dunno. There's the same international soccer game on five of our tv's, I don't know if we can accommodate you...So we were put in the back, where the families with 5 crying kids sit.
That's fine.
Server brought us some waters and said she'd return. Not too long after, she came back and says "buuuuusy!!". Ok sweets, if you call THIS busy, you need to find a new job. I've been a server for many years and this would have been a welcome lull on any day for me.
Regardless, she was really sweet, but super slow. Everything was great until we wanted our check. They had sat a six top in front of us and a four top behind us, all with crying kids so we wanted to leave. No dice. Couldn't find her anywhere.
Finally looked up at the bar and she was chatting and laughing with what looked like a friend at the bar. Wow. You're sooooo bussssssyyyyyy! Omg!
Needless to say, we got our check 20 minutes later and left. I'll give it another shot sometime but will only do so if there are seats in the bar. To be fair, EVERYONE in our section was also looking for her to order, for their drinks, for their check or for menus, so it's not like we are just snobs.
Also, whoever reviewed and said the food portions are small is on crack. I ordered an appetizer of chicken fingers and they brought me out a whole damn chicken!!! I don't know what kind of portions you're looking for, America, but all the plates I saw pass me were ridiculous in size. -

At its inception Buckley's was a classy place with A+ food. In the last few years, I haven't eaten here. During the NCAA tournament I tried their newer location in Belltown and both my guest and I found the environment inviting, but the food horrible. I told my friend that I had never been to that location and that the Queen Anne location was top shelf. Two weeks later I came to Queen Anne and found that the portions of food were smaller, the food less flavorful and that this once A+ establishment was just average.
Great place to watch sports and if you are a drinker, choices abound, but for those that truly enjoy a pub fair experience, the food will not impress. -

I definitely owe Buckley's a review as many times as I've been here in the past year. The first time I came here was several years ago while my parents were visiting. They were staying at a hotel a few blocks away and we came here for dinner one evening. I remember the food being good and also thought it was cool to see flags from universities all over the country (including mine) hanging up.
A few years later, I come here almost every weekend in the fall to watch college football and to pre-funk before the Rat City Rollergirls. I have found the staff here to be very on point during the football games. They let my alumni association reserve the lofted area and they give us separate checks, which I really appreciate.
The food here is pretty good, definitely better than most sports bars I've visited. I really like the Northwest Apple Salad and Pita Steak. I've never had a burger, but one of my friends ordered the Jucy Lucy and it looked awesome! They also usually have lots of good beers on tap. Thumbs up! -

So I am very much not a fan of LQA bars and restaurants overall, and I have to say that Buckley's is one of the better places if you find yourself in this area. That said, it still is a 3-star place.
I used to love Buckley's and hang out here all the time, both with my husband for dinner and with groups of friends to watch sports. The priciness sneaks up on you here, though, so keep that in mind as you get a few beers deep and start ordering snacks. I would say most of the food is good (I like the lunch/dinner menu better than the brunch). Service is super hit and miss, but I think that's more about how crazy busy this place gets during certain sporting events. They used to have a staff that could handle anything, but now that they've expanded their space, I feel like they struggle to keep up.
I do appreciate how they are a true sports bar and therefore let you sit and watch sporting events without giving you grief for hanging out on tables for a long time. Because of that, though, Buckleys is a massive meeting place for various alumni groups and many of them are, ahem, vocal. So if they are playing against our local teams (or your favorite team) get ready to deal with it. -

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
I used to live about two blocks from Buckley's, so I was in several times a month for dinner and drinks. I love that they have flags from different college and profressional sports team hanging up, especially since I am a Purdue grad and never see Purdue stuff on the West Coast. But enough about the flags...
The service here is always great. The staff is pretty attentive, and I never have to ask for refills on my drinks. The food here is also delish! I've never had anything I didn't like. The chicken sandwich was usually my go-to, but the people I went with always raved about the food. Whenever I had out-of-towners, I'd take 'em down to Buckley's for a casual dinner.
They have lots of TVs, and will usually accomodate you request if there is a specific event or game you want to watch.
All in all, I love this place and have missed it since I moved back to the Midwest. There is also a Buckley's in Belltown, so check that one out if you're closer to downtown. -

We came here for St Patty's day, and had a blast. At first there wasn't a table, but we found some room at the end of a table that people were using and they let us have those seats. Very Nice! They had a special menu for the occasion and it was delicious. Good deal for pitchers of green beer too! I would like to go back on a non-holiday to check it out again.

Good atmosphere, decent service, nice beer selection, food is a hit or miss.
Husband has lunch there all the time and raves about it so we went in today. Had the chicken and brie sandwich and it was terrible. The chicken was so dry you couldn't bite through it and the shortage of aioli and brie made the entire sandwich bland and dry. I should have stuck with the fish and chips. -

Great selection of beers and good service. The food was decent... I'd go back for sure. A nice place to relax after work and catch a game with friends.

Review from Erik M.
Buckley's is a sports bar for people who don't particularly like sports bars. Sure, it's adorned with flat screens tuned to any number of games or flavor of ESPN and team banners hanging from the ceiling, but if you disregard just those two things you're left with a cozy and kid friendly pub.
They have a nice tap selection for beerophiles and a full bar for everyone else, and they don't seem to skimp on the pours. The menu is full of pub grub standards including the legendary "Juicy Lucy," a midwest specialty. Whether you want to tuck into a burger or share some wings and nachos, you're covered.
The fact that it's family friendly may be a turn off for some, but the bar area is really nicely separated from the restaurant so if being around kids isn't your bag, you can still belly up and dodge the bulk of the sippy cup and chicken finger set.
I find it hard to find a reason to not like Buckley's, and I'll never complain when a reason to go pops up. I'm sure I'd spend more time there if it was closer to home or work. -
Review from Tom B.
Good beers, good staff, good food, good space, good TVs. It's a full-service sports bar that actually wants to be good at what it does, to give the joint a feel that borders on pubbish. They fairly well succeed at that while they're at it.
I dig the Belltown location, too, but evidently this is where it all began. It's a first-floor space in one of the south slope buildings; there's a nice little apron of tables on a patio around the front door. It's a quiet street with far less foot traffic than, say, QA Ave., so this is actually a viable location for a civilized pint al fresco.
Inside, you see lots of dark wood, lots of flat screens, and lots of college banners--a mix of major schools and mid-majors, with some emphasis on PNW institutions. The banners reflect schools from all over the country, though. Many of them presumably got hung out of affection for the big alumni clubs that use Buckley's as a venue for watching the game on Saturdays--the bartender mentioned Iowa Hawkeye alums yesterday as one fun, rowdy bunch who take over the joint sometimes.
There are a solid dozen or so faucets with a lot of Washington beers, some west coast craft pours, and a few from farther afield. The out-of-town beers are mostly big favorites--I think they were pouring Guinness and a couple fizzy yellow industrial delights. The lines seem clean and the bartenders know a little about each beer, which is *super* cool and much appreciated.
Honestly a little surprised how good the food was for reasonably-priced pub grub. I had completely un-greasy corned beef hash; my complones had tasty-looking burgers and sandwiches. Prices were more than fair. The bartenders were both genuinely cool guys, and we had an incredibly charming and sweet expediter. And at one point, the music switched over to a solid hour of acoustic instrumental 60s jazz. Put a good college football game on in front of me with that beer, that food, that music, and that company, and I can't ask for much more. Sterling effort, Buckley's. I'll definitely be back. -

My favorite sports bar (pub, lounge?). They had me the first time they brought me a bloody Mary and there was a fresh prawn on it. Some might find that gross, I find it awesome. This place also has plenty of seating and TVs, it's clean, the food is good, prices are reasonable. Did I mention the bloody Mary prawn?

My friend lives upstairs from here, so I was thrilled when she suggested we meet here. First of all, I was very impressed by the warm and lively atmosphere of this place. My friend was seated an a nice, private booth by the window (what an awesome place to sit, if you are looking for a nice, private place to talk; try this corner booth.
The waitress was very friendly, and took great care of us. She had tots, which were delish, and I ordered an iced tea. We had a third friend join us, and the staff graciously took our orders. I ordered the Triple Spread appetizer, which was excellent. There was plenty of pita (one of my downfalls - I love good, warm and gooey pita). The spreads were outta this world - my favorite was the brie and gorgonzola (I'm craving it as we speak). Our friend ordered chicken strips and fries, and there was a very generous portion that she wasn't able to finish.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this little pub if you are looking for some excellent food and a groovy atmosphere. -

Had dinner here with a couple of friends the other night--friends that go here all the time and have always raved about it. Well I can see why, food is delicious and tons of TV's which makes this place my new home during football season!
Had the pulled pork sandwich and tots, but not any old tots --SWEET POTATO Tots!! This new addiction is going to make my "Joey" even bigger UGH. My only complaint--need more water fill ups, everything else was great! -

Great place! I had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and it was heavenly. I got it without the buffalo sauce and it was still very flavorful. The waitress said she normally gets hers wrapped in a tortilla so everything doesn't squish out the sides.
It was a nice atmosphere, very casual bar type place. Lots of tvs, nobody cares if you get loud. There's not a ton of seating so I could see the wait getting long during the dinner rush.
Parking is all on street. There's a pay lot right next door but it only takes cash. The evening rate was 6.00$ at the time.
In short, I definitely reccomend this place! -

I revisted Buckley's as a break during Bumbershoot, but many years ago when this pub first opened, I was something of a regular as it was along the bus line home from work.
In the years since, the pub has definitely expanded in size, and become more sports-bar focused than it was at the beginning. This isn't a bad thing, but it definitely means that on certain days, a certain type of clientele kinda take over the place to crowd around the TVs.
Luckily Buckley's still has their nice chill patio space out front where you can take your pint and drink in peace, no matter how crazy the crowd inside gets.
The staff are on top of things, and the food is A-/B+ pub grub.
I wouldn't go out of my way to hit this pub, but when in lower Queen Anne, it's definitely my first choice. -

We live seconds from here, and are so happy we do!
Service was super friendly, and the food we had (burger, wings, etc.) were excellent. I look forward to coming here more in the future. -

Came here for a work event during happy hour. I liked the atmosphere: nice and inviting. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I had the fish and chips, as they were recommended by a coworker, and they were incredible! I'm generally not a huge fan of pub food, but these could have swayed me. The cole slaw was really good and that means a lot to me. It's hard to find the perfect blend of good cole slaw, tarter sauce, fries and fish. Yum! If I am ever in the area again I will go again!

I wish I could have eaten here, some of it looked good and the reviews seems to insinuate I would have enjoyed it.
But, seeing as how it took over 30 minutes for my ordered drink to come, and the waitress "reminded herself" every time she walked by with everyone else's drinks,..had I ordered food I wouldn't be able to review my visit last night because I'd still be freakin' sitting there waiting for it!
I liked the decor, atmosphere, size and location all right. I can see it being a fun place to meet up after work or before heading out a little farther for different nightlife.
But, jesus. That kind of wait for a drink should be a criminal offense. -
Review from Katy H.
Though I'm not a big sports fan, I'm a fan of this sports bar. It's not diry or sticky, it's not dark, and it's not too loud. This is a prime spot for NFL games and the TVs are pretty big!
I had some clam chowder for lunch and really enjoyed it. The salads and sandwiches my friends at looked equally delicious. I'll have to go back to try more of their beer selection and their food. Especially the green eggs and ham! Sounds like I've been missing out. -

I live so close to here, and its such a cool place, but, none of the food here is very good. I got a bleucy lucy once (ordered well done) and the cheese came out pink. I almost threw up.
But its good atmosphere. Beers are pretty standard, nothing really exciting. Good place to go with some guys for drinks only.
I really wish they would just have some new chef come in and change their whole menu.
p.s. I hate sports and rare meats, so, I'm sure I am an edge case. -
Review from Randi W.
Buckley's is a fun bar but be prepared to pay a decent amount for a few beers and some snacks. Weekends can be super busy so a word to the wise is that you can sit in the bar area at a table as the bar seating is "open". If wanting to sit in the restaurant area, be prepared to wait. The Cuban sandwich is really delicious and the blackened salmon lunch was not anything to write home about. Overall, a decent place, but again, be prepared to spend more than the average cost on general pub grub.

Great food, especially the grilled meatloaf and lucinda caliente burger! Garlic tots, sweet potato fries or tots, soups, all so yum! Service is generally pretty quick and very friendly. During any sporting events they tend to be crowded and very loud but otherwise a great place to grab lunch or dinner and a beer or two.

Went to watch the NFL draft at Buckley's. We were really hoping for happy hour food and drinks, but they only had drink specials for happy hour.
The mac and cheese was tasty and the Reuben was ok. My friend ordered a Juicy Lucy (burger with a cheese filled patty) and he really enjoyed it, but it was very greasy and messy.
Service was great and the food came out pretty fast. And they even had free wi-fi, incase you need to finish up some work while watching a game :) This is definitely a great place to watch sporting events! -
Review from Thai D.
This is one of the better sports bars in Seattle. You can hear the NFL games, especially the one you're seated closest too. The food is really good - I hihgly recommend the Green Eggs and Ham, the Eggs Benedict (under a different name), and their Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The service is always very good as well.
My only complaint about this place. Too many damn Packers fans! Go Chargers! -

I came here back when I worked in Queen Anne as it is a popular weekday lunch spot by many in the area.
Since it's popular, it gets pretty busy, but you can make it for the lunch HOUR. I ordered a blackened salmon sandwich and sweet potato fries. I was told their sweet potato fries are particularly great and I enjoyed it.
All in all, better than average pub food. I prefer it to the other sports bars in the area! -

The burger-with-stuffing was pretty inventive, but lacking in taste. And you can't order it less than well done. Fries and atmosphere were good though.
Their weekend all you can eat pancakes are a great deal. -
Review from Matt R.
Caught a Hawks game here recently. Overall- a great experience. Nice place and the food/drinks/service was on point.
Seems like a great place and the Chicken Sandwich I had was excellent. Beers were cheap and the service was spot on. We sat at a Bar Table- and the bartender was super attentive and really took care of us.
Why only 4 stars?
Only beef is the big black box they have on the main TV they were showing the game on. Clearly the TV is broken.
They even have a sign saying "yes we know there is a big black box on the screen- No we can't fix it".
If your TV is broken and you're a sports bar showing the Hawks game on the main TV behind the bar- spend the $800 and get a new TV. -

This is probably my favorite bar in Queen Anne because of the atmosphere and the people that work there. But after not being there for a couple weeks I went back to Buckley's on friday and I noticed they raised there food prices for a 2nd time in the last year, which makes it worse because the food is no where near worth the money they are charging. And if they raise there drink prices again, I will just have to take my business to other places.
I just think when I go there from now on, I'm going to be fixing food at home or just plan eating somewhere else. It's still a great place to catch any sporting event with friends though. -
Review from Ed L.
A sports bar / restaurant that seems like a good place to catch games. Tons of TV's and seating to settle in for a few hours. Has a fratty culture to it, especially when college kids roll in.
The food is mediocre at best. Calamari appetizer was good but a little greasy. My pork chop was pretty expensive for something that was not succulent and tender. Play it safe and just stick to the booze here. -

Good burgers, a French dip worth coming back for, and the yummiest sweet potato fries (chipotle ranch for dipping is a must). I rarely go to Buckley's to watch a game; I actually go to eat--every once in a while when a craving for a big, meaty sandwich soaked in hot beef broth strikes.
Service is always good, and I like the big booths that run along a long shelf filled with old hardcover books. It feels more like a friendly neighborhood bar than a place where guys come to elevate their testosterone levels. I definitely prefer this location over Belltown mainly because it's quieter, parking is easier to find, and Queen Anne is just so much cooler.Listed in: 3-Peats, Sandwich Heaven

One of the places I end up in as it is within walking distance to a buddy's place in lower queen anne.
Your basic bar food with a few additions. Burgers, wraps, meatloaf. For those from Minnesota, they do have the Juicy Luicy (hamburger stuffed with cheese) but I have yet to try! They also sport breakfast items from 9am-2pm. When I come I get the tots!I Tater tots that is. Nice crunchy and yummy, just like I remember them from the school cafeteria. The version here comes covered in about a pound of that crushed garlic stuff that comes out of a jar. Like garlic fries at a mariners game. I would recommend getting them plain and spare the local vampires your awesome breath. Ambience is what you would expect from a sport bar with screens showing the various sporting events.
Not a bad option for bar stuff in the lower queen anne milieu.Listed in: Bar Eats, Queen Anne eats

I live just a block away and frequent this bar for a lot to watch a game.
Pros:
Good sports atmosphere
Friendly staff
GREAT food and variety, they have a brunch and dinner menu
Lots of tvs
Cons:
It's such a good bar that it gets packed, so if you don't get there early you will have a hard time finding a seat. -

I thought this place sucked. When we walked in, the greeter basically threw menus at us, and when we asked if we could have a table for lunch instead of a seat at the bar, she gave me a look like I had just asked for one of her kidneys.
One thing about Seattle sports bars just blows me away: Every time I walk into one, you actually have to ask one of the wait staff to put the Seattle game on. I mean, Mariners, Sonics, Huskies, it doesn't matter the sport. What kind of places that cater to sports fans don't have the home team games on? Are there that many Midwest transplants watching their former home-town teams? I am a transplant myself, but I try to socialize behind the home-town team, but maybe people in this town just don't give a shit.....
The place looks like a lot of fun, but that is deceiving. The food was crappy: just a bunch of pub grub not done well, although the burgers didn't look too bad.
I ordered the turkey club, which was small and on focaccia bread. Focaccia bread for a club? My friend ordered a pita steak sandwich that comes with some sort of Greek sauce neither he nor I had heard of, and when we asked what the sauce was like, the waitress had no idea.
I mean, come on, this is not fine dining: there are 20 things on the menu, basically sandwiches and burgers and if you can't be bothered to know what the 3 or 4 sauces are, maybe you should go count boxes in a warehouse. -

Bloody Mary with a beer bump. That's the main reason to go to Buckleys. Although Seattle is fraught, simply fraught with Midwesterners, the brilliant Minnesota-style beer-and-a-bloody is a rare delicacy.
Of course, Buckley's is a sports bar, which can come with some built-in annoyances. During one visit a football fan escaped his enclosure and wandered too near our table. His clapping was exceedingly disruptive to a nice schnoggly buzz on a Sunday.
But, in general terms, Buckley's hasn't failed on the food or service front. The former is substantial and better than average bar fare. The latter has _generally_ been very good, as well. The one time we felt slightly ignored, I carped a bit to the bartender (who also gave us the impression of being the owner). He gamely comped us our meal, including dessert. The infraction was so slight and the reparation so generous, that I now mostly remember feeling guilty for having complained at all. -

The perfect sports bar! Nice selection of beers on tap, full bar, and really good food!
Beer battered onion rings and sandwiches are excellent! We frequent this place for watch parties and love the food and big screen T.V.s, however the wait staff is not always as consistent. Sometimes they are super friendly and accommodating, other time they make ya want to get up and leave. -
Review from Nick H.
As far as sports bars go I think Buckley's is better than most. I'm not really a fan of watching TV in bars, and the sports decor is a little over the top--but the selection of beer and food is top-notch. Plus it's a conveniently located after-work stop for my friends and I, so we keep coming back. Personally I like the new Belltown Buckley's better, but as far as I can tell the quality and service is pretty consistent between both.
I finally tried their fabled french dip, which a tall bird told me is the best. It was pretty good (swiss cheese FTW), but the best? Not tonight. I was a little underwhelmed. The beef was good (no super-chewy fatty pieces) but I think I've had more flavorful au jus elsewhere. The main problem was that the fries were cold and tasted stale.
I think it was just an off night because I like just about all of their other pub grub (especially the bbq burger) and they make some tasty salads too.Listed in: The Places I Go Out

Watching football here? YES. Great atmosphere where you can talk to strangers, cheer on several games going on at once, and the bartender is just a sweetie and totally attentive.
I do have a complaint though, and it will stop me from eating here again: the prices. Unfortunately I paid $18 for a half-size salad and a diet coke. "WHAT!?" you may ask, dismayed. "How is that possible? Surely you also bought a pitcher of beer, or a side of fries, or even extra cheese?" Nay. I ordered a small-size salad: Northwest Apple, which was delicious, I will admit, and added chicken. The small salad was $7, and adding chicken is $5. Oh, and the diet Coke? $3. In the bar.
All in all, it was $18 on a tiny dinner, and I was bitter as I signed my credit card receipt. Buckley's, really, all your salads should come with meat for those prices. A tiny salad with mixed greens and a chopped apple doesn't constitute $7.
It's too bad, but I'll just stick to beer at Buckley's.
