Review from Theresa R.
Staten Island, NY
This winery does not charge you for tasting. Each bottle is fitted with a stopper that automatically pours 1 oz. increments. This is likely due to Pennsylvania's strict blue laws-- I believe 1 oz is legally what they can distribute without having a liquor license to serve. That being said, it's still very generous considering there was no charge. I was able to try every wine without any restrictions, and the employees answered any questions I had, made recommendations and were very pleasant. My parents have been visiting this winery for 30+ years and are always remembered when they visit.
The wine is good. I agree with most of the other reviewers, this is not exquisite, expensive, out of this world wine. But it IS good wine, worthy of the table, a night in with friends, or even a party depending on your palate. They have a good variety, reds, whites, sweets, semisweet, dessert wines and dry, and a few seasonals. I particularly enjoyed the Holiday Spice, a seasonal red which can be served chilled, room temp or warmed with cinnamon sticks, orange slices, etc.
Pricing is good, each bottle is approx. 8-10 dollars with a 1 dollar discount per bottle if you purchase 12 or more, and this discount includes the ports. I wound up purchasing a case! Overall the whole experience is a good one.
On a final note, my brother got married last year and to save money he and his wife did a BYOB and provided all the liquor for the reception. My parents picked up several cases of red, white and champagne from Buckingham Valley Vineyard, and they were able to personalize each bottle with a unique label featuring the names of the bride and groom with the date of the wedding, alongside an illustrated bride and groom couple. That level of personalization alongside their business is a lovely addition to the overall atmosphere of the winery. -

I've been to this winery before. In fact, my visit here was part of my first experiences in Bucks County. Today, I had opportunity to revisit as part of a Tastings & Tours wine tour.
As part of the tour, we got insight into their winemaking process by one of their winemakers Eric. Eric was very knowledgable and provided insight from the maintenance of their vines to the bottling of their wines. This tour also included a novice's education on how to taste a wine, making it an excellent first stop on the tour.
The property and winery itself is beautiful. And it is the second largest winery in Pennsylvania, as I learned from our driver for the tour. As a large winery, they produce their wine for volume. This includes nearly 100% steel aging for their wines, adding oak chips to add flavor to their wines. In addition, their wines include twist caps instead of corks. A process that the winemaker claims improves the aging of the wine and reduces the risk for wine to become "corked." However, the use of corks vs. twist caps is disputed among other wineries we've visited. Since their winemaking process includes so much automation, their most expensive bottle of wine is $11.
The tasting room is nicely constructed and open to allow for the flow of people through the area. The tasting bar allows you to pour your own 1 ounce pours of all the wines the offer (something I've experienced nowhere else). The wine bar is set up for individuals to first sample their reds at the left of the bar, the whites at the middle, and their fruit and dessert wines at the left. There were no limits to the number of wines I could sample on this visit or the others if my memory serves me correctly. They include goldfish crackers, cheese, & water for tasters at their wine bar.
Their store also includes a variety of t-shirts, wine accessories, cheese, and other items for the wine lover.
Their wines don't have very complex and robust flavors. As a Cabernet drinker, I prefer those of their Bucks County peers more than this winery, mainly due to the flavor & smoothness of the wine. However, we were fond enough to purchase Pinot Gris, & Vidal Blanc, which we thought were some of the better choices from their selection.
Overall, this property was excellent for the education and scenic beauty of their vines. However, their wines are not the best that I've had in the Bucks County region. -

Lovely local winery- we went today and we tried a whole bunch of wines. The girl working there had a lot of knowledge, and they were very friendly. We ended up getting a Strawberry and Blackberry wine. Good times.

First of all, I've been here about a dozen times. Having said that, I have NO idea what the first review is all about.
Good wine here, not great. Basically very good table wine. Much better than Yeallowtail type wines but I would never open it in front of good friends and say "have some of THIS wine!". Its good for everyday use or for dinner. Good prices also. I've bought many a case from here.
Bottom line; Average wine at good prices. Good enough for the in laws but not the good friends. -

They have a good selection of whites & reds all reasonably priced. I go to this vineyard a few times a year, in fact, whenever I'm within a 10 mile radius!
I enjoy the relaxed self service atmosphere of the place. Even outdoor seating is available for you to enjoy a bottle of wine at your leisure. It's not your typical stuffy, crowded and wait in line for a sip winery. I find it inviting instead of intimidating.
For me, the sweeter fruit wines are my favorite and they usually have a few variations to sample. Try the blackberry if you can find it, it is seasonal so not always available. -

I'm going to have to disagree with the previous review. This is a fine winery with a do it yourself pouring. They don't talk about the wine, what it pairs with, the making process, etc like most vineyards, but I wouldn't call the staff unpleasent. I've never been with a large group of people, so maybe thats why.
That being said, they have good prices and a large variety of both red and white wines. I'm a red merlot girl and there's is very good. Its a self guided tour, so feel free to walk around the property yourself. I come here a few times per year. -

I have been here a few times, mostly to grab some of the delicious Riesling that I can't get at home. The little woman and I have picnicked here before among the questionable "artwork", and we enjoyed ourselves. This is a no frills place, and we like it that way.

This winery is run by some of the most unpleasent people. We had talked to the management when planning a large wine tour and were excited to arrive. We had told them that they would be the last stop on the wine tour so I assume that they knew we would be drinking prior to arriving.
Regardless, when we arrived we were immediately told "you owe us money" and to "be very quite in the winery." The man who greeted us also decided not to give us our tour because he did not have the full attention of the group. Things went down hill from there. Without any direction, members of our group were scattered, with some in the tasting room and others in the cellar taking a tour. When I began to taste the wine I was asked when we were leaving and given a story that went like this: another tour is behind you and is waiting in the parking lot for you to leave (this was a complete lie - no one was in the parking lot) and that the police were called and were coming to subdue us shortly. Then the man said that one person would also be arrested when the police arrived and pointed to my father who was engaged in a normal conversation with the owner. When I went over to my father and the owner to explain that we were leaving because they were sending the cops out for him the owner just kept saying "that's not true, the cops were not called" and stared at the guy behind the counter. I later found out from my father that he had taken 2 tastings of one of the wines which had made the man behind the counter (who was a cop and the owner's son) very angry.
This is one place I will never return to simply because of the rudeness we encountered from start to finish. And beware... taking 2 oz of any one wine at this place will have you sent to the slammer! -

Contradictory to the first review, I found the staff to be pleasant and helpful without being pushy or salesmen. My wife and I went for a tasting and left with three bottles. I felt that they could have talked up their wine a little more rather than letting it speak entirely for itself and the self service pouring was a little odd. They did not have any urns for discarding the wine you did not finish, which was not good when I picked a ultra dry red and poured too much. Overall a nice place and decent wine.
