I love places that let you order your meal online and then go and pick it up. This is one of them!

My favorite is the Krispy chicken salad. However, I always get my chicken grilled instead. I would have never thought in a million years that the salad dressing would be good but the ingredients all blend together well, somehow. The food is so fresh. The service is quick, and there are so many options which all look amazing. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

They also have beer and wine. To top it off, they have Pacifico beer which is my favorite. I love this place when I'm craving a really really good salad!

I got the Caesar platter that comes with the tri-tip, salad and bread. I felt that the steak was a little bit tough, and could've been a bit more raw so it would be more tender. Other than that, the seasoning was perfect and tasty. I had gotten the Caesar salad in an attempt to "eat healthy", but with all the dressing and the croutons, it was probably way too unhealthy anyways. I wish that they had put the salad dressing on the side so that it wouldn't be quite as creamy. The bread was ok - nothing too memorable actually..

i feel that the place is kind of like a fast-food steak house. You pay up front and then they drop the food off at your table if you're staying in to dine. I've never had this kind of experience, but for the price, I feel like it  was a good deal. Any other restaurant could've charged more for the same dish.

Would I go again? Probably. I might consider stopping by in the middle of a shopping day.

BEST SALAD AWARD GOES TO.... (drum roll*)

    CABO CHOP SALAD w/ TRI-TIP.

This can be shared between 2 people. It's hard to want to.

Yuk - I had one of the worst meals from here last nite.  I ordered the tri-tip and chicken combo.  Tri-tip was very fatty and tough.  The chicken was unusual as it looked like it had been pounded flat and had a strange sauce covering it.

I will stick to their salads as these have been good in the past.

I picked up some food for my mom after I finished work. She LOVES salmon, so I decided to go for the salmon platter. $16.99 seemed a bit expensive for takeout, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

I asked if I could substitute anything for the mashed potatoes. The cashier listed a few items, and I chose the sweet potato fries. Too bad she charged me an extra $1.50 without letting me know. So there I sit, wondering why I just paid $20 for my meal.

The food was ready in about five minutes. Speedy service, and a nice selection of sauces that you can pump out yourself and take with you if you'd like. I grabbed one container of BBQ sauce and one of horseradish.

When I got home, I nibbled on some of the sweet potato fries, which had become quite soggy (most likely because of all the steam from the fish). Probably not a great choice. Maybe they should put the fries in a separate container?

The portion of fish was large, but very thinly sliced. I'm no expert, but it looked a little dried out, definitely nothing like what you see in their photos online. To make matters worse, there were hardly any veggies: one tiny corn on the cob, two pieces of squash, one or two pieces of zucchini, and the top part of a red pepper (for garnish, I suppose).

I would not recommend the "large platter", especially if you're sharing with someone who doesn't eat meat. The amount of veggies was REALLY disappointing. I was expecting a large bounty of colorful grilled goodies, but no luck.

I work across the street and I come in here on my lunch breaks sometimes. LOVE chicken tenders from the kids menu. Perfect amount of food. Both their regular and sweet potato fries are soooo good. I've tried their burgers as well. They're okay, personally, I'll stick with the chicken. Only con is that this place can be packed and it can take forever to get your order. There's been a few times where I've gotten orders to go and the buzzer wouldn't ever buzz so I'd have to go up to the counter to check if my food was there. Tad annoying when you're on a 30. But it only happens when they're super busy, so it's all good.

Met family here who had been here before and has great things to say. They were really excited to eat here again! I was a tad disappointed with what I ended up getting, but it doesn't mean I wont go back.

First, you walk in, order, and go sit down with your number. They say they're known for their tri tip, so I had a Caesar salad with tri tip. There was an insane amount of lettuce, not enough dressing, a few croutons and tri tip haphazardly cut and dropped on top. I think next time I'll opt or a sandwich or something a little heartier!

Otherwise, friendly service, fast bussers and lots of options. Worth trying for a BBQ chain,

I came here today and ordered the Chickenshroom, a grilled chicken with mushrooms sandwich. I wasn't very impressed. The chicken was dry, the sandwich was kind of tasteless (I had to add SO much bbq sauce to the thing), and it was very difficult to eat because the way everything was put in the bread roll.

They have wines and beers as alcoholic beverages to choose from. The wines were really crappy labels, although I wasn't to surprised at this, so I got a Stella instead. At least they have alcoholic beverages!

It was my first time going to any Buckhorn, and I'd be willing to try a different sandwich I guess, but this time was not a very good first impression.

So thankful for this place to be across the street from my work. I'm addicted to their sweet potato fries!

Small place, a bit too dim inside. I feel like I'm at one of those club restaurants, where only members can join in :P

Service is OK, not the greatest but whatever. I'm never there to sit down and eat, I always order to go so I don't have to deal with any workers.

Lots of choices to choose from, but I've only ordered their chicken tender kids meal($5+) and their sweet potato fries (large is $4). I love their ranch, it's like a buttermilk ranch and it goes great with everything. Yummmm. You get 2 pretty big chicken tenders with the kids meal and a generous amount of fries/sweet potato fries.

I've never tried their salad's BUT I've seen it and they're HUGE. When I saw their salad, I'm pretty sure it was 2-3ft. tall. It looked delicious, I need to try out their salad's next time :)

Came here last night around 7:30pm and it was busy inside, so after ordering we went to sit outside (good thing it wasn't that cold). Well it took them awhile to bring out our food , i think that's why the bottom bun to my Portobello sandwich was somewhat soggy :( , the sandwich was OK, i don't think ill order it again. My bf had the Jammin' Salmon and he said it was good and that the sauce made it good, the fries were alright, had better wanted the sweet potatoes fries but they were out of it. So ill come back maybe to try one of their salads!

The tri-tip sandwich is great and they make it really fast. I'm not sure why you'd come to this place for anything other than tri-tip or a steak salad, the rest of their food seems underwhelming from what friends have told me.

Tri-tip sandwiches here are the best, especially with the au jus.

Extra tip: Bring some seasoning salt with you (they don't have any) and it'll be so good it'll just blow your mind. You probably think it's weird to bring your own toppings or spices into a restaurant, but seriously, it's worth it, so shut the hell up.

Only downside: $9 and up is a bit pricey for a sandwich that size.

It's been many moons since I ate at the original location up in Winters, but this will do just fine until I can get back up there.

The open kitchen is a nice touch, as you wait you can watch everyone in action, but you are never waiting long, 5 minutes between order to mealtime is the longest it takes.  Roast chicken is good, but the Ray-buck (tri-tip with bacon and smoked cheddar on a soft roll) is something to savor, the meat is always lean - and hot, it never sits around.  Salads are big enough to share, with the Roadhouse (topped with onion strings) and the Yik Yak with homemade vinaigrette, but good luck trying to roll it all into that giant tortilla!

And if you don't feel like cooking on a Sunday, a whole tri-tip to go is $5 off and feeds four, nice!

O.K., this was my first time eating here and I wasn't sure what to expect.  There were lots of items on the menu to choose from, all reasonably priced.  I chose the "slow roasted chicken/tri-tip" combo platter.  Everything looked good, but everything on the plate was cold.  Even the grilled veggies were cold. That seemed odd to me. I don't like to send stuff back (to the kitchen), so I sucked it up and ate.  The slow roasted chicken tasted almost undercooked and tasteless, but the red skinned mashed potatoes and gravy was very tasty.  The tri-tip was pretty good also.  The employees were very nice and the food came fast.  But next time, I think I'll just order a sandwich.

    Smoky, meaty, charry goodness!!

How can you go wrong with this Tri Tip sandwich??? Uh...you can't!!

I came early for lunch and ordered the Small Tri Tip sandwich and was offered the combo with a drink and side....OK!

The side of baked beans that came with the Tri Tip were thick and had a variety of beans with LARGE peices of bacon....SO GOOD! The bowl was huge too!

The Tri Tip was a perfect size and the bread was nicely made to go with the Au-Ju for dipping.....not too salty just right.

Come early or call your order in, this place is known to have a line out the door.

    Great seating outside too!

Used to come here when I worked in the area and haven't been back for a few years. Stop by because a friend was in town visiting. The sandwiches are a bit small for the price, but you're mostly paying for the meat.

The tri tip with au jus is a good one to try. I got the bacon cheddar and liked that one as well. Roadhouse stack and salad version are yummy too.

The girl at the register was really sweet and helpful. She gave me a 10% off our order because I said I used to work in the area (which she didn't have to do) I hope she doesn't get in trouble if the managers read this. It's employees like her who bring good customer satisfaction. It makes me want to go back because of how friendly she was to us.

Sadly after months and months of waiting for this location to reopen, the food and service were nothing but a HUGE disappointment.

Food was lukewarm, my chicken platter that boasted it was served with "half a chicken" was served with 2 halves of one pounded out breast. Misleading, disappointing and my money is better spent elsewhere.

I'm addicted to the CABO SALAD.  I'm all about it.
Romaine with honey-lime dressing, in a crispy tortilla with avocado, black beans, corn, jicama, radishes, tomatoes and blue cheese crumbles.  Add tri-tip.

Get a onion crisp for the table and call it a day, son!

I'll tell you this ---- The one in Walnut Creek presents the salad much more beautifully than the Emeriville location, however it tastes the exact same.

Eh.... the price of food here is way too high for the quality of food you get. But that aside this place is alright. The salmon took a long time for them to make and it seemed like everything else on my platter was precooked and waiting for the salmon cause it was cold when I got it.

Our favorite burger joint aside from five guys. We go to the one in walnut creek, but there is one in emeryville also. Cheap prices, lots of variety and big portions. My favorite is the California burger with sweet potato fries.  Their tri tip is also amazing. Won't be disappointed! The only downside is if you go around lunch time when its really busy, you might have to wait as the line will sometimes wrap out the door, but they are fairly quick even during rush hour.

I haven't been since November and they just OPENED back up last week. There was a fire in Feb?

    Brief Summary
    -- Quick but good food
-- Prices aren't cheap but everything is pretty fresh
    -- Good customer service
-- No more beepers, they deliver to your number
-- Gets BUSY and you PARK in the garage for free

I've been going to Buckhorn for a year or two. I like it for what it is and I have a few goto items. Just came here last night and found it was closed for about 4 months because of a fire. I also heard that you can see the fire on youtube (sorry no link).

My favorite thing to get here is the charbroiled chicken sandwich minus tomatoes, with extra lettuce. I always get a side salad and then add an order of fries. the regular side salad is a little bit bigger but its 2 bucks more than fries. Add the combo for a drink and side. Price is around $10.

They also have a nice selection of other sandwiches, meats, and salads. I've enjoyed their ceasar pleaser which is a huge ceasar salad with 2 chicken breasts and a roll. It's a lot of food and not for the faint of heart. If you want to take it to-go, you can get a whole tri-tip sliced for like $20 that will feed easily 4-6 people.

In general I think everyone should try different things at Buckhorn. My first time was in Emeryville and I didn't like it because I order just meat, potatoes and veggies. And the setting is a lot more casual. After I tried a few sandwiches and salads, I became a fan.

My absolute favorite place to get lunch. Whenever my best friend and I go out to lunch, this is where we go. I was hesitant to try it last year because I'm really picky when it comes to sandwiches but I fell in love with their red ranch sauce. I always order the chicken little off of the kids menu because it's the perfect size for me.

If I want to treat myself and not worry about calories, I also order either a salad or the AMAZING roadhouse onions. Everything I've had here is tasty. The food is prepared quickly, which is nice if you're starving :)

I also enjoy the online ordering. I order my sandwich online and pick it up on my way to work!

Love love LOVE the Yik Yak w/chicken. It doesn't matter which location I've been to (SF, Emeryville, Napa or this one), the salad's always been consistent: loaded with tons of fresh ingredients, shareable size, and that delicious dressing I'd dare not try to recreate at home and service is always fast.
That being said..when it gets busy and your non-grilled items await the next ticket to tummyland,  while your meats on the grill and the servers are too busy refilling condiments.. sometimes your order gets to you just over warm. =T If they're not going to keep the food hot somehow, then they need to work on making sure orders don't sit neglected and alone while the rest finishes cooking.
I'll stick to the yik yaks =) I have seen the other salads and they're HUGE and look awesome too.

So I went to Buckhorn Grill for the first time tonight and was almost half-way through my salad when I found a soaked latex/rubber GLOVE buried amidst the lettuce. I was about to be sick... wet latex like that can only resemble one thing (sorry, not PG... but seriously this was sooo gross). I brought the salad up to the manager and he had them re-make it (to go since I was too nauseous to think of eating--let alone eating more of that) and gave me a coupon for a free meal but his apology can only be described as unconvincing bordering annoyed (probably at the staff and not me but he thats something to be dealt with afterward). I was really surprised at the lack of reaction he had to this incident and left feeling like he couldn't care less about his customers.

This may be an isolated incident, but what does it say if a glove gets through the kitchen and salad line? I would have thought they would have at least tried make the apology seem remotely sincere.

I hate to write something so negative and descriptive but it's disconcerting at the least and extremely UNSANITARY.

So today was a cold ugly day and we were watching football when the nephew and niece along with my sister n law wanted to eat. We were withing minutes of going any where but decided to drive the 20 miles to Walnut Creek to have some Tri Tip Sandwiches. Mmmmmmmmmmm
So once we arrived there was no wait the place was pretty packed but there was still enough seating. We ordered 5 combo Tri-Tip Sandwiches with a salad and some with fries along with a soda. For $6.99 each you really can't beat the price and the quality is 5 stars baby.
The staff is very polite and professional and the drive is well worth it. Yes I did miss the end of the Saints/Seahawks game but when the kids call upon Super Serg to be the Role model uncle that they see in me then I never think twice about being a role model for them.
( If they only can see me at a YEE or UYE and they may take that role model stuff back )

Popped in here for lunch, and really didn't know what to expect. There were proclamations of having the best tri-tip sandwiches ever, but it seemed to me like a Panera Bread for beef sandwiches and salads.

    Well, I was beefed!

I ordered the Bacon Cheddar Buck on a roll with sweet potato fries. The meat was tender and the portion generous, and the fries were the perfect combination of firm but chewy.

The location was nice and the service was speedy.  If I resided in California, this would be on my 'lunch" list.

My husband keeps this place in business.  I never protest when he has a craving (every week or two...).

Everthing is good- especially the tri tip and the salads.  Best dressings.  Wish the prices would quit going up every time I turn around.  They changed the fries recently, hoping they change back.

The only not good thing is the mac and cheese.  I may have high unrealistic expectations.

Last month we stopped at the one in Napa and it was DIRTY and they weren't very nice.  Made me appriciate this place even more.  Make sure you sit in a booth and drown everything (even your salad) in bbq sauce.

Buckhorn has great tri tip - that's what you come here for

But the main go to is the tri tip - best around - better than Kinders.

Had dinner here before going to the SF Creamery down the street for dessert.

I liked the setup here. By first look, you would think it was a restaurant with servers. But this was like a Sonoma Chicken Coop style restaurant. You order, and you help yourself to the condiments, and drinks. The staff just brings you your food and thats it. You get your own utensils etc.

The food is priced fairly. Not too expensive and good portions and options. Everything was satisfying. I had one of their Roadhouse sandwiches. We sat outside a nice cool afternoon and people watched.

If you are looking for some good food, but don't want full service, and affordable, check this place out.

Buckhorn Grill salads vs. Cheesecake Factory Salads...I'd love to see how many that food war guy can put away.  In any case, this loyal review goes to Buckhorn for their Yik Yak salad w/ a side of 2 chicken breasts (or wild salmon)...It's a humongoid sized salad to help reinvigorate greens in your life (usually after a weekend of gluttonous meat & alcohol consumption) and it's fair price for the other green.

Tip:  phone in your salad and if you're lucky enough to find a parking spot up front, you're outta there in 1 minute...

My friend loves the Roadhouse salad here, so he is requesting that I yelp and give it 5 stars.

He says something about it having delicious tri-tip, fried onions, and ...fresh veggies? He says it's the most amazing salad ever.

    So there you go!
