I am surprised this place doesn't have a higher rating. Really really surprised. I am hard to impress in the food department and this place passed with flying colors.
I came here with my mom on a wine tasting/Mendocino trip. We actually were going to go to the Boonville General Store cause my boss told me they have lots of vegan-friendly options. But I was standing there checking out the menu for 5 minutes and couldn't find anything veg friendly that sounded appealing! So I said let's go see what else there is and boy am I glad I did.
We had such a nice time next door at Buckhorn. There was only one guy working and it got pretty busy, but he handled everything so impressively well and was just a delight to have as our server. Ok so I cheated and got the clam chowder, which they were nice enough to split into two bowls for me and my mom. It was heavenly! We also split the veggie burger. Pretty darn tasty. I have had a lot of default veg burgers in my day and few have been this good.
I would love to go back. Maybe next time I'll do less wine tasting on the way and save room for a beer. It's just such a nice comfy place to kick back for while in the relaxing Anderson Valley. -

The best selection of beer on tap in the Valley. I also like the food, especially the weekend brunch with steak and corned beef hash with poached eggs on top and crispy hashbrowns with cheese on top of them. Enough for a coronary once you add the biscuits and gravy as we usually do.
The Prime Rib dinner is a must. Big slice of beef perfectly cooked with the best garlic mash and bourbon steamed broccoli. This is my 'go to' comfort food spot in the Valley!! And Patty and Loretta are the best!!
Cheers! -

Service was exceptional.
We picked this place because we were starving and other places were closed at 2:30; this servers lunch through 4pm.
Place looks nice, menu is nice pub fare.
But everything we ordered, though it looked tasty and obviously fresh, tasted bland... onion rings were super greasy, sweet potato fries were underdone and soggy.
Very disappointing for the price.
I rely on yelp when I travel, so I am trying to post reviews in hopes of helping others.
I'd say try elsewhere first. -

We love the Buckhorn. On our trips from Sacramento to Mendocino we love to stop here for a great meal. This time we were hungry and almost stopped in Ukiah. We turned of 101 and started to look for some place to eat and decided to get back on 101 and get to the Buckhorn! We've never been disappointed. We split the 8oz burger and fries. The seasoned fries are great! You can't go wrong stopping here!

I went in for a late lunch at the bar. Next to no one else eating. Just some locals hanging out at the bar.
I had the lamb burger which was really nice. Rare to see that on menus.
The service was very friendly. Not too expensive. Just right for a pre wine tasting meal. -

Service was excellent, the burgers outstanding, very nice place for dinner on the way to Mendocino. Killer onion rings!

Really good buffalo burger! Man, the fries are about the best anywhere! I would get them plain and not garlic next time, so that i could douse them in salt and malt vinegar the way I like them the best. (they are crunchy enough to handle it)
The clam chowder was unexpectedly rich but not heavy and warmed my bones back up after diving for abalone for an hour.
Good beer menu, nothing too exotic. The Poleeko Gold went great with the food, though.
Great service, tolerated my short attention span and indecision very well. I really liked the Buckhorn. I have to say, also, that the wheelchair ramp they built on the side of the building was very impressive. -

It was sad visiting Mendocino and passing this empty place previously the home of a brewery and grill. When we noticed on the way out to the coast that there was a new owner, we promised to have lunch there on our way home.
The remodel is really nice -- very cozy inside although I miss seeing the hummingbird feeders right outside the large windows. Oh well.
If I recall correctly the veggie burger option was $12. Kind of pricey for a garden burger. The only thing that redeemed this was a large selection of "sides" I had to choose from and I chose a sweet potato mash that was delicious. I also ordered an additional topping of avocado for $1. Unfortunately the amount of avocado brought to me probably represented about 1/8 of an avocado. -

Awesome restuarant! Great atmosphere, service and food. The owner Tom, took a personal interest in our party and made sure all was excellent and I observed him doing the same with all of the diners. Tom really knows how to run a restaurant!
I have dined there several times now and both the brunch and dinner fare were delicious! The location is a melding of beauty & buccolic simplicity and franky a nice place to stop on your way through the Anderson Valley for Pub Grub or to take your sweetheart for a romantic dinner. 5 Stars from me! -

Lovely restaurant with a great view of the valley and various wineries. I had brunch there after the Boonsville beer festival. I got the California eggs Benedict which was all veggies plus it came with hash browns. They had a huge thing of sauces which allowed you to season to your own tastes.
The only drawback was that it took a long time to get our food. This is understandable since the atmosphere is very laid back. The food was good, but not anything that really stood out. A lovely place to grab a bite when you are in town -

Guys: brunch is not that hard. Make coffee. Ahead of time. Cook eggs. Correctly. Make more than one batch of bloody mary mix. Serve more than one table at a time.
Wait staff was delightful. Great location. That's the two stars. -

Ahhhhh....so happy to have an amazing brunch and hangout spot back in town.
Crab cakes - as good as anywhere in the bay area - no fillers, just the good stuff
Lamb burger with feta - dank
Pizzas - they have this one with all meat I call the "meat sack" - tastes amazing with the Giants game on and a pint of Guinness
Thank you Tom & Mark! -

This impromptu stop was a pleasure to make on a Monday afternoon returning to the SF Bay. The building has a fun, upscale woodsy atmosphere. The bar looks like a worthy spot to nurse a fine bourbon after having accomplished some sort of manly endeavor. Alas, not if you're driving home to the Bay and to your work week! There's also outdoor seating, which we enjoyed. Ordered items were mac and cheese, fish and chips, bourbon butter broccoli, and the tuna melt. None disappointed and were honestly too much food for the three of us. Our lovely (and very pregnant) waitress was sweet, attentive and professional. She made helpful menu recommendations.

San Francisco, CA
Very classy joint, with a great decor, and a short but high-end menu. We dined there for breakfast after the beerfest. The eggs Benedict were the highlight of the menu for sure, but I chose the country hash which was quite delicious. The omelet was quite large looking too and priced very well.
Overall service was a little slow but it was super crowded after beerfest, so that was understandable. -

Super find! Sunset Magazine says try it-we did! Alaskan cod fish, really nice chunks and the best fries ever! Fresh, crisp with the skin still on. Top of the line! Hubby had the special of prime rib dip sandwich that he is still raving about! The dinner salad is enough for two, so split it. Service? Right up there with the best. Any day, any time, I'd return and love every minute of it!

Tasty, well-executed California pub food. At lunch, there's a choice of venison, buffalo, lamb, or beef burgers; I had the buffalo, which was wonderful, moist and tender. It came with great house-made steak fries. My husband had very enjoyable fish and chips. The thing I remember most was the wine list, which was proudly local: most wines were from the Anderson Valley, and the staff were very knowledgeable about them. I asked for a very fruity rose and the bartender sent me two small samples to try. I settled on the Esterlina Vineyards rose, which was so great that I asked the waitress how to buy the wine. She actually called the vineyard (it's by appointment only) to make a reservation and tell them she'd sent us. The beer list looked equally good.
Great service, great food, and a cool, comfortable outside deck shaded by canvas tarps. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular. -

Fuckhorn.
I have been sitting here for a goddam hour and I can't even get a slice of bread out of these geniuses.
I hate this place. I hate the incompetent service. Run. Run away from this place. -

Great road trip place. Found this on the way back from Mendocino. Boonville is really cute town first of all. Sunny vineyards everywhere, which puts you in a good mood to begin with. This place has a great selection of burgers... beef, venison, buffalo, lamb, salmon, chicken, veggie. Each comes with one of like ten sides. I got buffalo with a baked potato and two glassed of Pinot Grigio, which were only $6 each. Service was prompt and friendly, and the place was bright and clean. I left quite happy.

Red Bluff, CA
Went for Brunch on Saturday at 10am.
Atmosphere: Great, very tidy interior, spare, but with a big fireplace to welcome you and big windows allow lots of natural light in and a view of the mountains to the east. Patio is spacious, shady, recessed from the street but close enough to see the passing visitors.
Host: distracted, mumbled, did not show us to a table, we found one ourselves on the patio.
Waitress: charming, sweet, apologized for the confusion since we were the first to sit at opening time. Service was very slow, though, as if the kitchen was not ready at all. Coffee could not be refilled during out entire meal because they hadn't made more than one pot it seems. Food came slowly.
Food: excellent! Had the crab cake benedict and it was wonderful with plent of sauce to mix with the hashbrowns. Menu is limited to only three items, omelette, benedict, and country biscuits. No specials.
Hints:
Condiments are kept in crates setting near the backdoor, they should be checked out before using because Boonville is famous for its earwigs.
Staff needs to pay attention and be trained better. They are all wonderful as far as I can tell, but the second table to be seated only got all their drinks as we were leaving over an hour later, and another table just up and left. It seemed that the kitchen was out of everything. Two couples came in but seemed to get confused cause the host was missing and left.
Would have liked to have the waitress mention the bar and the mimosas.
The paper menus need to be reprinted for every day. Ours were spotted, smudged and dirty.
Overall: great location, great looking building, well maintained, servers freindly, service slow, food great! Restaurant is trying too hard to be something they are clearly not ready to be. -

Mendocino, CA
I love this place. I'm a local and eat here an embarassing amount of time. You can go cheap and get a gargantuan$5.00 slice of or get a steak, pasta, salads, etc. I've got vegetarians in my family so the $6. side menu option, pesto pizza, and veggie burger is great My kid religiously orders 2 side dishes, the un-orange mac 'n' cheese and the perfectly done (never over-done!) broccoli. My favorite is the $16. steak and eggs on the weekend brunch menu. The wait staff is terrific and Pats the bartender is hilarious.
- Nice to have a clean, gorgeous place to go to watch the Giants, soccer games to on the non-obtrusive, silent TVs.
LOVE YOU GUYS!! -

http://www.youtube.com... Watch my review on this link through http://Youtube.com. Thank you very much. I was delighted when I ordered a sampler platter from a place called The Buckhorn. Located in the Anderson Valley, Boonville,CA. I had plenty of blush wine that was recommended by the bartender.. I loved their fried to perfection calamari, ( the calamari was soaked in buttermilk) , Their calamari cevaich was served on a bed of lettuce that was just right. And yes the lettuce was ripe. The crab cakes melted in your mouth and had the perfect texture. They didn't fall all apart when cutting them with a fork. And last but not least, the Shrimp Scampi, that just in case someone doesn't know what it is. It's shrimp and in my case fresh pineapple grilled on a wooden kabob. It was well deserved and a great experience to share with the locals. I urge anyone and everyone to go taste what they have to offer. I will go back. F.Y.I they have a superb prime rib. I would like to thank everyone at The Buckhorn for the excellent dining experience, On a scale from one star to 5 stars, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best, I give this fine establishment 5 stars. Go out to Boonville and taste it!
