LOOOOOVE this place! Great for lunch or takeout.
The service is great, the owner is so cute and genuinely sweet.
The fresh salads are awesome.
I had an Italian sandwich and a caprese salad. Both were great!
We go back often for the homemade tiramisu. -
Review from Daniel B.
This is a nice casual Italian restaurant and deli. The quality of the food is high, so things can get pricey. As other reviews have mentioned, the owners, Marcello and "Mama" are great. They are very friendly, sociable, and accommodating hosts. They'll make you feel like family.
The Buckhead Italian Market & Bakery is located next door to Zoes Kitchen, near the intersection of Roswell and Piedmont. Signage for the restaurant isn't very clear. There is a white tarp that hangs over the storefront that simply reads, "Buckhead Italian Restaurant."
Inside, the store is setup like a traditional deli with glass cases everywhere. On display are all sorts of gourmet salads, Italian appetizers, pastas, meats, cheeses, homemade sauces, and desserts. They also stock some imported groceries such as oil, vinegar, and olive paste. There's an assortment of tables and chairs set up in one area of the restaurant for dining in, though many opt to get their orders to-go. Outdoor seating is available as well. Overall, the space definitely gives off an authentic and relaxed Italian atmosphere.
The menu includes items like paninis, parmigiana, bruschetta, caprese salads, spaghetti, zitis, lasagna, and ravioli. The gourmet salads are really good and include tabbouleh salad, okra salad, eggplant caponata and chickpea salad, and white albacore tuna salad. Desserts include sorbet, gelato, and various Italian cookies. The paninis and parmigianas are about $10 each and the larger entrees like the lasagna are about $14 each. The gourmet salads are about $10 per pound.
The lasagna is extremely rich and delicious. I am a big fan of the lasagna salcice (Italian sausage). The salcice is savory, fragrant, and a bit sweet. Combined with the pasta dough and cheese, the flavor is heavenly. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the lasagna here. They are also quite filling.
The eggplanta caponata and chickpea salad is superb. It's fresh and very refreshing. If you like eggplant, I highly recommend it.
Complimentary bread and olive oil is served at sit-down meals. I really like the bread here because it's already infused with chunks of seasoned butter. The olive oil is icing on the cake. If you're lucky, Mama will give you an assortment of small cookies and treats to munch on for dessert. Or you can just nosh on one of her gelatos.
Service is great.

Came here for the first time yesterday for lunch. Our group all ordered the panini and a salad. I had the turkey panini and the pasta salad. They both were pretty solid, nothing mind blowingly awesome, but good, solid food.
The service was quick and prompt. The place was definitely not busy, and yes, whereas the shelves were full of odds, ends and pictures instead of products, it lent a homey feel to the place.
The owner was very nice and sweet; coming in to check up on us outside and even chatting with us a bit.
Overall, a nice place to go to get out of a hectic office for a nice meal. -
Review from Jang C.
Wow, this place was hard to find. About 8 of us came to this place for CUCCUYEIBIHOH [1]. They didn't even have a proper sign for their restaurant. If you want to find this place, just look for Zoes. It's right next door to it.
Mamma mia! I just had to say that because this place is Italian, and because of Mama, one of the owners of this restaurant. Mamma mia literally means "my mother" in Italian [2]. And Mama seems to be everyone's bestest mom when they come here. She was a sweet mother and fed us good food--except you had to pay her. It was weird having an Italian mother for a night. She didn't nag me about how I disgraced the family for not going to Harvard.
The food tasted good. It didn't blow me away though. I think all the reviews here overhyped it. I do think they made solid Italian food. The bread seemed nice and fresh. The paninis, lasagna, and pasta dishes all tasted good. It seemed everyone in our group enjoyed their dish.
The food is good. Although, I think the main attraction is the people that work there, the service, and the atmosphere. It was an enjoyable experience. So bring your friends, bring your own bottle of wine, get comfortable, and enjoy a nice family-like meal at Buckhead Italian Market and Bakery.

[1] Basically, a UUYE, or an unofficial UYE. The acronym is actually something ridiculous and laden with inside jokes. So I won't spell it out. I got a bunch of Yelpers to come here without creating a UYE. Sorry guys, it was a last minute thing so I couldn't create an official one.
[2] I think it's used as an expression similar to "oh my god!" -

The food was so-so.
Pasta was very plain and not very fresh.
Hummus was gritty and also not that fresh.
Italian Panini was nothing special, lacked taste.
The place looks a little overbuilt. Most of the shelves have pictures in them rather than product. If they spent more effort on the food than the decoration they'd have a better result.
At least the service was excellent. -
Review from Sarah S.
I have been sitting on this half finished review for nearly a year. For shame!
As soon as I entered I was warmly greeted by a gentleman standing behind the glass case that houses their salads. He went over the menu with me, I decided on the Italian panini. While I waited for him to make and box up my panini, I continued to eyeball and drool over the available grub in the case. Had not eaten all day/was starving. This scenario never ends well....
As I drooled, a sweet, very teeny Italian Mama came over to greet me. I had to fight the urge to pick her up and hug her b/c she was too cute for her own good. She asked if I had any questions and when I inquired about lasagna, she showed me the 2 they offered--verde and bolognese. As soon as I saw the bolognese, I knew it would be going home with me. It was a couple inches high at most, made of ultra thin, ultra neat layers. I ordered 2 servings to-go for our dinner later that day. I can't even remember how much I spent in total but whatever the amount, it was worth it.
I ate half of one order of lasagna as soon as I got home. Didn't even bother to heat it, just being honest here. Hungry does not wait, not even for the microwave. The crazy part is the lasagna was very good cold. Loved the paper thin sheets of pasta and the marinara's simple goodness may have inspired me to lick the container like a dog. Then onto my next target: the warm panini which I quickly devoured. I've never been a fan of hot sandwiches but this one was mad edible. I'm pretty sure I also recall inhaling the other half of my lasagna at some point. And later that evening, I ate the second order of lasagna that I supposedly bought for my hubby. I actually haven't been back to Buckhead Italian Market since b/c after inhaling, in a very short time span, enough food to feed 3 hungry adults, I felt deeply traumatized & kinda (very) disgusted with myself.
Oh my order also came with 3 salads....I picked tabbouli*, a simple penne pasta salad & a green salad. They were fine but the carnivore in me refuses to waste time waxing poetical about salad.
*that's how they spell the shit on their website menu so don't be messaging me to tell me it should be spelled 'tabbouleh' or 'tabouleh." I don't care. I don't even like the stuff. They should just make it easy and call it "parsley salad" like I do. -

I'm always amazed the place isn't packed. The good news is I never have to wait.
The paninis and salads are among the best I've ever had. If you are lucky, you will visit on the night he has made Italian okra - sauteed hen baked in tomatoes. I've never had a salad with a bad tomato - never mushy, never a core.
Love their chicken salad. The roast beef is yummy. They roast their own turkey.
The owner and his Mama are delightful.
5 stars from me. -

I almost couldn't find this restaurant on Yelp to review it, because all of my friends refer to it simply as "Mama's". Mama is wonderful -- she remembers you and makes the place feel like you're there as family...although you still have to pay! (She's never taken me up on the bid to wash dishes for my dinner.)
Every day dining is great. I usually do an entree with two sides, from which there are many to choose. As someone who does not normally like pasta so much, I love her sausage lasagna.
The real event -- and sure fire one to take out of town guests for a laid back evening -- come for Taste of Italy on Saturday. You'll get more food than you think you could eat...well, more food than I can eat and probably more than you can eat, for a great price. It's great quality: antipasta, salad plate (5 salads or so), meat plate (five meats) and past plate (yes, five pastas).
One last thing...if you bring your own wine, NO CORKAGE!!!
I'm almost sorry I wrote this review, because I don't want everyone to find Mama's. -

Ok, this might have been 4 stars because the selection of deli meats and cheeses was quite lackluster in comparison to everything else. We stopped in and were going to walk away without anything (we had already eaten elsewhere) when the tiramisu just seemed to sing from the case. I'm glad we listened! It was, hands down, THE BEST tiramisu I have ever had. It was perfect for me as I don't have much of a sweet tooth. All too often places go heavy on the sugar in the cream to counter their use of bitter espresso. Not the case here though; the cream was perfect and the espresso so clean and invigorating. One was definitely enough to split for the 2 of us, we had to take another piece home though, it was fantastic. Quality of this caliber is not a fluke on a single dessert I'm sure so we will definitely be back soon for dinner. ERA MOLTO BENE!

I am in love. Came here with the fam on a Friday night. We were the only people eating here although there was a woman who came in to get stuff to go from the market/bakery part. I knew as soon as the Italian woman greeted us that we were in store for some great authentic food. I had the ravioli which was fantastic. My mom had the lasagna and said it was probably the best she's ever had. My dad was all about his salad, but I can't remember what kind he got. I don't think you can go wrong here. I definitely intend to come back, and if I ever need anything catered, I know who to go to! Also, btw, prices are very reasonable. If I worked nearby I would come for lunch all the time.

If your in Atlanta and you would like to experience authentic Italian stop by The Buckhead Italian Market and Bakery. Everything is made from scratch and the food is wonderful. For twenty years, Marcello and Mama have been making customers feel like part of their family. Don't forget to bring your own bottle of wine. -
Review from Robert M.
I like to give these people my business. I think they are way overpriced, but the paninis are amazing. Their side salads are very good, and their sauce is very good. If they'd lower their lunch prices, this place would do much better. I am starved for Italian Delis in this town and next to E. 48th Street Deli in Dunwoody, and a new one on Howell Mill that I haven't been to yet, this is one of the few Atlanta has to offer.
They don't have a whole lot in the way of Italian products to make it a real 'market', they have one wall of grocery but not enough. This is a nice family, they have loyalty from me anyway! -

So...my family was visiting me from KY this weekend, and we are a family that always struggles with agreeing on where to eat. We actually stumbled upon this place by accident, after trying to get into another restaurant close by on a busy Saturday night. We walked in to check out the menu, and another couple eating immediately recommended that we stay. The weather was gorgeous, so we chose to sit outside. As soon as we were seated the owner, Marcello, came out and introduced himself. They were having a $14.99 ALL YOU CAN EAT special, and he explained it to us. After glancing at the menu for a moment, we decided that we would prefer Marcello to bring out whatever he thought was best. BOY am I glad we did this!!
First, we had bread (I think it was Ciabatta) with oil...which was so yummy!! Then he brought out a huge plate of Antipasto, followed by another huge plate of Insalatas. ALL great! My family wasn't big on the eggplant, but I loved it all. Next we were served with a plate of various stuffed raviolis (portobello mushroom, seafood, meat, etc) which were a HUGE hit! There were also a couple jumbo shells stuffed with 5 cheeses that I loved. NEXT we had filet mignon, chicken, and vegetables from the grill....OMG! I just loved every bite. Lastly, we were served with a variety of Italian cookies, vanilla gelato (for my 6yr old niece), a cannoli, a large piece of chocolate cake, and a couple other chocolate things that were to die for! Not sure what the one I loved the most was called, but I claimed it for myself. We were completely stuffed, but very happy!!
Oh, and did I mention this place is BYOB? I used to live in Chicago where BYO places were huge, and I am always looking for a place to bring my own bottle of wine. We didn't have a bottle with us, so Marcello was nice enough to bring out a spare bottle from the back (he had 2) at no charge. Of course, paying for it is left to your discretion. ;) (I would recommend bringing a bottle, as he may not always have one available.) Also, according to the card I was given, they also have "Wine Down Wednesdays" every Wed from 6 - 9pm.
I also noticed a sign that said they have complimentary wireless access, so for those of you with laptops...that's another plus!
So to sum things up, my dad made the comment that after 30 plus years of dining at NICE restaurants this was one of the (if not THE) best experiences he has ever had. My niece had a blast, and even wanted to help Marcello as he set the tables for the next day. She even assisted with running my dad's credit card (see photos)...it was sooo cute! She even asked if we could take him home with us. lol I just couldn't imagine not writing a review for this place. Definitely check it out!!
PS: They also have a catering menu, including breakfast items & corporate lunch boxes. -

Yummy homemade Italian everything. I really liked this place, but E. 48th Street Market is still my favorite--it just feels more authentic and the food is slightly better.
Not to say I didn't enjoy my meal of spaghetti bolognese, stuffed peppers, and caprese salad here because it was quite tasty. Just not the BEST. -
Review from Jeff M.
Thank you, BIMB, for giving me another go-to place for sandwiches and Italian food. The hours here are generous, which bodes well for me since I have hunger pains every hour. Delicious salads. Really good grape leaves. I really like the pressed sandwiches: they're compressed, piping-hot, and with the crispness of the bread, they're delicious. The Italian panini hit the spot and maybe even punched the spot a little. Chicken parmesan! Thank you! FINALLY, a place in Atlanta where I can get a chicken parmesan sandwich! And a really good one at that. I was close to giving up. BIMB is the BOMB!

OMGosh, I had lunch there yesterday and the eggplant parmesan and caprese salad were about the best that I have had. It definitely gives the restaurants in old Italy part of Chicago a run for their money! I cannot wait to go back...and a great place to pick up dinner on the way home on nights where there is no time to cook!

A comfortable neighborhood trattoria in the best tradition. Marcello, Mama and company have been there for many years, and they always know how to make you feel welcome. The food is excellent -- simple and affordable. The Italian sausages from Marcello's friend in Brooklyn are not be missed. BYOB. Glad to see that the Tuxedo Festival renovation is coming to an end!

This place is right next to zoes. I am so glad I decided to stop here. It is so fresh and tasty! Caprese panini is delic- thick buffalo mozerella, fresh basil, big red tomatoes. I will definitely be back. I don't know why so many people flock to zoes when this is next store.

Just an excellent place to go. The staff is so friendly. The food is delicious. You can eat outside or inside. It definitely has a warm feeling. It's so strange that it's tucked away in a strip mall. Great value on the price of food! They will allow you to bring in wine any night and not charge you a cork fee. The owners of this place really make it special. In the morning you can get fresh pastries and excellent coffee. On friday night they have an italian feast for 14.95. I'm excited to try the BYOW thing. Think about how much money that would save. Go to this place!

One recent afternoon we decided, at my suggestion, to give BIMB a try. We were set on going back to, ahem, that place next door AGAIN, and I felt a pang of guilt. Guilt is a normal thing with me when I know I'm missing out on a really great place. Then, I remembered that a friend of ours recommended BIMB. So, in we went. No, it's not a schmancy joint. But, the sandwiches we got were delicious! The husband didn't need to look at the whole menu. First thing he saw was what he wanted which was the Italian Panini with Italian ham, mortadella, genoa and sopressata salami, provolone cheese and marinated veggies. I got the Tuna Salad Panini. Both sandwiches were made with an easy-to-bite-into Ciabatta bread, not the kind with which you have to pick a fight, if you know what I mean. My favorite was the Italian Panini. The flavors jumped out and surprised me. The "cold cuts" were fresh, thinly sliced and packed. Also, I missed the Italian cookies but my husband didn't. He surprised me with a little bag of an assortment that were delicious. It's time for another visit again.

Awesome! this is my second time going to this place and I will be back ladies and gents! They were a pretty slow both times I went however, and the owner instructed us to "tell our friends" as we left. It's such an awesome place, market/bakery/restaurant. They have tons of treats, yummy pasta and fresh veggie salads, eggplant parmesan, chicken lasagna, regular lasagna, meatballs, chicken parm, grilled salmon tilapia; the list goes on and on. Most of the food is displayed in an attractive open case and I found myself circling it drooling for much too long but the friendly guy behind the counter was patient. I'm sure it happens a lot, b/c they do have a great selection. I sat in the first time and did take out today. Both times I had excellent service from the friendly attentive staff. Strangely enough the bathroom is through the kitchen but honestly it was cool to walk through it and see how clean it was although this is SERIOUSLY weird and seems unsanitary at the same time. Oh well, can't have it all. They also sell deli meats and have a long dessert list including several types of sorbet and traditional Italian desserts tiramisu, cannolis, etc. I will have to update my review to really give this place justice but I will say this..I brought my co-worker a chicken salad Panini and Caesar salad..and she just leaned back, sighed and said, " So good I'm about to eat the Styrofoam container. " Later she came back to tell me again how much she enjoyed her food and farted (GRRRR!) but I guess thats neither here nor there. I had the chicken pasta salad and the meatball Panini and as soon as I finish this review I'll be doing the same (licking the container) even though I'm so ashamed to have ordered that..meatballs, pasta, and bread. Really Christina?

I had driven by the Buckhead Italian market for way too long (years). After reading reviews, I found that it was more than a "deli." We finally decided to stop in on Thurs for a bite and it was fantastic! I am originally from NY and know what authentic Italian should taste like. This was it. Marcello, is great. When we walked in, he greeted us and told us to treat his restaurant like our home. He wasn't kidding. We opened our wine (no cork fee as I heard from other Yelpers) got a couple glasses and sat down. The tastiest bread was served along with Olive oil to knock you out. Then he made us a fresh antipasto platter upon my request (I saw all the great meat in the counter and asked Marcello if he could possibly make a platter and he said "of course.". The main courses were delicious and the tiramiso was the best. We bought some olive oil to go and our bill was less than $50. So, along comes Fri which means no cooking and.... yes we end up back at the Buckhead IM. What can I say. I am a creature of habit and No disappointments on visit #2. Our new favorite in town.
