I remember when Buckhead was a place to get drunk, get naked and party your ass off. Buckhead now is full of glorified pussies. Yeah, I said it.

I lived in Buckhead for 5 years, right off of Peachtree Street. I was knee deep in the snob fest and proudly stuck out like a sore thumb! I was forced to dress up to go to Publix, wear 6 inch heels to go to Starbucks and curl my hair to go to Whole Foods.

What happened to the days where throwing up on the sidewalk of East Paces got you in free at Fado? Going topless got you VIP and a swing in the window at Tongue and Groove and dancing/wading in the fountain in front of Nava was a necessary after last call? I was on the street past 3AM and was sprayed by the fire trucks! I sat next to Elton John at Johnny Rockets and sang "Benny and the Jets" totally off key! Where are the people that remember or...have blurry memories of the way it used to be?

Now, Buckhead is a place to see and be seen. Dress in clothes you know you can't afford, drive a car you had to sell your soul for and have a sugar Daddy the age of your Grandfather to survive!

Gone are the days when Buckhead was known for its night life and not the new Hermes store opening on the corner. Bring back the bar crawl not the sad dust bowl it has become!!

For those of you out of the loop, "Buckhead" is actually an area (as the actual Buckhead, GA is off of I-20 near Greensboro, GA) that covers "uptown" Atlanta.

Buckhead has a lot to offer, but with the shit traffic as of late, you can't experience anything when you are sitting in f'in traffic!  Last night, it took me 1 HOUR to get from the GA 400 exit 2 to the Lenox Road/Peachtree intersection.  That's not even a mile... today it took me 18 minutes to get from Phipps to church (about 2 miles down the road).  I don't know if its Spring Fever, all of the damn out of towners, or the road work- but by the time you get to your destination, it seems like you don't even wanna do anything.

With that being said, when you do reach your destinations, you have 2 powerhouse malls, and formerly (which sucks) the only city in the States to have 2 5AAADiamond/5 Mobil Star restaurants within miles of eachother (God bless their souls, The Dining Room at the Ritz, Buckhead and Seeger's), NY or San Francisco couldn't even brag about that!

This is the place to be seen.  Every night, it seems the patios of dining establishments are packed watching cars go by.  Churches are mobbed at any given time (the church I am a member of is right smack in the middle of the madness), and there is a godo chance you will see a Bentley race a Lambo, or something along those lines.  Hell, today I saw my first Lime Green Escalade with matching rims dart out of Lenox.  Ha.

A lot of changes over the years- I saw that the Roxy is now the Buckhead Theater (wtf is that?!)... No more ESPN Zone (where else could I get my mega sports arcade on?)...

If you want to experience a less stressful B'head, come during the week before lunch or right after (but be weary of rush hour)- this is when I prefer to go.  It's amazing the difference of the amount of people there (like comparing Phipps last night to tonight was a night and day difference).

If you want history, you have to go off the main path. You will find more in the neighboring hoods (like Brookhaven)- however, I would like to give a special mention to West Paces Ferry Road, one of my favorites in the city (Tuxedo Rd and Valley Rd being my favs).  Off of WPF, there lies the Atlanta History Center, which I have yet to visit- I am sure it will give you a better picture of the history!  I guess what I am trying to say is, the more historical parts are as you leave Buckhead and head towards Midtown (another shout out- check out Peachtree Battle Ave. WOW!).

I guess at the end of the day, you have your mix of modern meets old world meets hip meets money.  It is a definitely unique area.  It will be interesting to see what happens when ALL of the construction is finished around the area- there is a LOT of it going on!

I think I enjoyed my stay at Buckhead more than my stay in Miami.  More of a conservative, I found Buckhead quite comforting.  This was my first visit to Atlanta and I was staying on the 19th floor of my friends condo.  I must say that the view is beautiful.  So much greenery.  If I could I would post my pictures up for you to see. I was literally two blocks away from the mall.  People are so friendly there and let's just say that my experience in Buckhead was pleasing.  I remember walking the dog inside the mall when a security guard finally told me to carry the dog.  Then a lady from one of the stores brought out some water for my dog.  The people are so nice.  Nobody in LA would ever take some water out for my dog LOL

Learn to take the subway Breeze station

After studying the city map taking the subway train station is simply a breeze haha

Before I moved to Atlanta in July '07, I had only visited the city twice. I knew that I would be working in Buckhead, but beyond that, I didn't know a lick about Atlanta's neighborhoods. I know that everyone loves to rag on Buckhead (which is why I chose it for my 100th review), but for me, it has been a great place to live. I have a short commute to work, my cost of living is reasonable, and I feel safe despite the lack of walkability in this uptown 'hood.

No, I don't shop on daddy's dime and no, I'm not a Buckhead Betty. In fact, I work next to Lenox and Phipps but I can't even tell you the last time that I was at either mall. However, it's pretty cool to think about how many upscale boutiques Buckhead has, and it's impressive that they do more than 1bn in sales each year. Buckhead offers easy access to MARTA (which is only good when it comes to getting to the airport and Braves games), has quite a few nice hotels, and more than a handful of good restaurants. I love Chastain Park and its Amphitheater, the Buckhead Library, and our two movie theatres.

Yes, Buckhead Village and its dive bars encourage post-college debauchery and a delay in entering adulthood, but that's a choice. I've realized that there is no such thing as a neighborhood that has everything.  Buckhead isn't known for its night life for anyone over 25, but I've come to accept that. For now, Buckhead shows promise of things to come (Streets of Buckhead, Buckhead Greenspace) and I'm happy to call it my home.

What happens when you put "Buckhead" in Yelp's "Search for" field? It comes up with an arbitrary address to define the home base for this Atlanta neighborhood.

Slightly humorous. Deserving of "Funny" ratings? Hopefully.

Buckhead has been through its share of ups and downs (stunning mansions and shootings), but at the end of the day, it's still home.

And yes, just in case you were wondering, I called the provided phone number and no one answered.

I figured a good follow-up to my review of Atlanta (my 300th Yelp, by the way) would be to talk about Buckhead... my 'hood.  Well, technically I live in Garden Hills, which is a neighborhood in Buckhead.

I moved here 3 years ago and I didn't think I wanted to live in Buckhead. You know, the traffic... the clubs... the traffic... Fortunately I made a pretty good investment when I bought my condo because a block away they demolished all of the clubs to make room for The Streets of Buckhead and across the street the Atlanta International School tore down all of the old apartments to expand their athletic field. Looks like the neighborhood is turning up.

Thanks to newly redesigned traffic patterns I rarely get caught in gridlock (seriously... it's happens so infrequently that I get surprised when cars start to back up during rush hour).  I wish there were a few more things to do at night... well, other than eat.  Actually, even if there were some clubs open I'd probably still go to Midtown to be with the gays.

Overall I enjoy living here and it seems to only get better.  Now if only my property taxes would stabilize.  That would make it awesome.

    Buckhead is:

    (1) full of lunch and dinner options best suited to those expense account types
    (2) overrun with too much traffic, at all hours of the day
    (3) missing any nightlife that I myself would enjoy - including my three least favorite places in the world: Hole In The Wall, Moondogs, and Pool Hall. Honorable mentions to: East Andrews, 5 Paces, Kramer's, and Peachtree Tavern.
    (4) scary to drive in because of all the soccer moms in their SUVs, typically a Range Rover Sport, with the sticker for some private school on the back, that talk on their cell phone and don't pay attention to the road
    (5) overpriced cookie cutter apartments
    (6) too many fraternity alumni dressed in polo shirts and short khaki shorts attempting to impress you with their trust funds

A lot of people have beef with Buckhead.  First off, they can suck it.

I'll be the first to admit that there are a lot of reasons not to like Buckhead - budding private school frat-stars buzzing West Paces Ferry in jacked-up SUVs being only one of them.

As I see it, there are two kinds of Buckhead natives: (1) the kind that everyone immediately thinks of (i.e. the oblivious 40-something business dad, the trophy wife he met at UGA, and their 1 or 2 tan and athletic children), and (2) the kind that feels a twinge of guilt on behalf of the above group every time someone from another part of Atlanta asks where they're from and they have to say, apologetically, "Buckhead, I guess."

So to all the people messing up Buckhead's street cred: STOP BEING DOUCHES.

To everyone else: if you can make it past the conservative yardsigns, landscaping trucks, and Stepford wives, don't count Buckhead out.  There IS cool stuff here.

Always had a soft spot for Buckhead, before I lived over here. Now that I do, I'm loving it more & more. there's always something to do. A bevvy of restaurants; nightlife, and the famed Lenox Mall. Not to mention just minutes from Midtown & Downtown

Yeah Buckhead isn't Buckhood anymore. When I turned 21... maybe a bit younger I'd often visit Buckhead. Not to long ago it made a sad turn for the worst. But hey that's the past and now it's got some cool places to eat and what not. May not but the club hopping area I knew and loved in the 90s that's cos it's better.

Buckhead is like Paris Hilton:  full of itsself.  If it weren't for the flash and money, it wouldn't be nearly as impressive, interesting or pretty as people make it out to be.
