Create. Collaborate. Learn. Teach. Grow. Study. Share. Build.
Bucketworks is all these warm fuzzies, it's true. This collaborative workspace serves as home to meetings, conferences, un-conferences, and more. You can rent office space in this expansive, sprawling building. (Rather, it's thee buildings in one, all sort of connected. This place would make a KILLER haunted house!)
The space is truly meant to foster collaboration and creativity. Staff encourages those working and visiting to "ask permission later," and treat the space as their own.
Bucketworks is a great addition to Milwaukee in that it is all at once a community and learning center meant for everyone. As someone said at BarCamp (an un-conference that I attended and Yelp sponsored that was held in the space), "these are the schools of the future." Love. -

Bucketworks is a space and a community that encourages and facilitates creativity and learning. In the past five year it's been host to a number of events for Milwaukee's technology community including BarCampMilwaukee, Web414, MilwaukeeDevHouse, various programming/technology Meetup groups, as well as other endeavors in the arts including DrawCamp, PhotoCamp, and theater and dance programs.
It's like a high-tech community center where people can pursue their passions. there's plenty of meeting space, great wifi, lots of restaurants nearby, and great people. If you're in the Milwaukee area, check it out...

History
Established in 2003
At a regular health club, you become a member to work out--improve your health, your muscle tone, your stamina. You use special equipment, in special environments, and sometimes you work with a coach. You work out regularly, so your body becomes healthy. And you become a member because you want to be amongst a community of other people who are doing the same thing--they reinforce your practice and your discipline.
Bucketworks is just like that. All we've done is swap out the weight machine for the computer, the exercise bike for the table saw, and the mirrored aerobics room for the collaborative meetup room. We've picked coaches who know how to help you build ideas instead of muscles, and we've formed a community of members who all want to work out their ideas, inspirations, and passions--and who will share their experiences with you.
