The course isn't anything to write home about, but it's cheaper to play 9 holes here than it is to buy a new pack of golfballs, so it's A-Ok with me!

Decent variety in the lengths of the holes, nice scenery (small planes flying overhead) and good people (working and golfing) makes this course well worth playing.  If you're going pro anytime soon, you might want to challenge yourself somewhere else, but if you're just a casual golfer and want to save a bit of money, Buchanan Fields fits the bill.

Oh, and the fairways here are very user friendly :)  If you can't keep your ball playable here, you might want to kick down for some range balls to work on your swing (7 bucks), play the easily walkable course again (11-12 bucks), then take the money you saved by playing here, place it in a jar and save up for some golf lessons.  Word.

I find this place to be a charming little course with pretty decent practice facilities. $11 for 9 holes is not a bad price, especially since the course is kept in fairly decent shape.

COURSE DESIGN - The whole thing, as someone mentioned, is a huge fairway. There are few bunkers, no water in play, and a couple of short par 4's thrown in here and there.

DRIVING RANGE - No real grass here, but considering this is the Bay Area you'd have to basically go to a country club for that. I like that there are plenty of stalls and that your ball lands on real grass. This means you can actually realistically gauge the distance you can hit each of your clubs. I also appreciate that you can hit onto flat ground and not a downslope. Again, good for gauging exactly how far you can hit.

PUTTING AND CHIPPING GREEN - You pass by it on the way to the first tee. I haven't seen a little par 3 course with amenities like this, so that was kind of cool.

CUSTOMER SERVICE - The guys in the shop are friendly and chill. Be nice to them.

I probably wouldn't drive all the way out here (from Oakland) to play unless I had something to do nearby, but it's a great place to get some golf in whenever I have to head out to the Walnut Creek / Pleasant Hill area. Give it a try if you're in the neighborhood.

19th Hole Cafe!  I don't play golf but love to go to the cafe for home-cooked breakfast or lunch on the go.  This family-run cafe is very consistent with their food and the owners are just wonderful!  I am a big believer of supporting your local (mom and pop) businesses and this place I highly recommend!

First timer here.  Staff is friendly and helpful.  Course is great for beginners.  Nice 19th hole restaurant at the end of your day to take down a few brewskies.

For under $20 you can hit 80 balls at the range and then play a quick and easy nine holes, all in under 90 minutes (and you won't need anything longer than a 3-wood, if that).  Neither the driving range nor the course is anything special, but it makes for a great way to pass a long lunch hour on a stressful workday.

I have a tendency to dig my balls deep into sand traps.  Thankfully this course has very few.

I'll start with the driving range - Steve doesn't like it because he can't loft chips at an 89 degree angle.  Well, Stevie, you actually can.  Just move down a bit to the area where the range ISN'T covered with a roof.  Sounds to me like you are trying to cover up your rotten driving skills.  Driving range has plenty of room to practice all the swings.  Go short or go long.  Sure the range isn't grass, but you schmohawks understand you only paid 7 bucks for a bucket, right?  People like Steve would dig trenches in real grass.

The chipping range is great, too.  Not many courses I have been to actually have a chippin range, either.  Maybe I am not going to the right ones or maybe this is really unique!

Putting range is very nice.  Well kept green with a wide variety of angles, lies and lines to practice.

The course itself is perfect for a Saturday or Sunday morning or late afternoon.  It's only 9 holes, so you can spin through in 2 and a half hours if you need to.  Price is great, too, so all things considered, you almost cant go wrong here.

As any good golf course should, it also has a great clubhouse with freezing cold beer!  A MUST for any golf outing!

Poorly designed driving range. The covered area really sucks and limits your ability to pop high chip shots. I ended up hitting the roof more than a few times. The distance between stalls with the concrete really makes for a closed in feeling. Then you can deal with the airplanes that are flying in low to and from the adjacent airport.

People in the semi-pro-shop were friendly enough. Parking needs redesign as well. I wont be back. There are better ranges within a few minutes drive.

The man took me here yesterday to teach a little about how to play golf since it was a beautiful sunny day, although a bit windy.  He borrowed a couple clubs for me to use since I'm a woman and his clubs are a bit too big for me.  We just got a bucket of balls and went to the driving range.  First off, let me say that if I had known we were going to go to the golfing range, I would've dressed more appropriately.  Worn sneakers maybe.  Yes, I blame the fact that I wasn't wearing proper shoes on my performance yesterday.  That's the reason.

I actually liked the fact that there were airplanes flying overhead every so often.  I thought that was kind of cool.  It's close by to the man's apartment, it's cheap, and I had a lot of fun.  I'd definitely go back (if I were wearing the proper shoes.)

One of the best 9 hole courses in the Bay. Kids have to be at least 12 but my 7 year old has actually played here once. My son can keep pace w/ a 14 year old when hes "on".

Well maintained range balls, greens, tee box's, karts,

My favorite hole is 5. Only because it was my first birdie shot ever. Its just a short 110-130 par 3. I nearly aced it w/ my PW and landed within 1' of the pin.

For the price, this 9-holer is hard to beat. Its great if you don't have an afternoon to set aside and you still want to get in some practice. You don't really need to bring a full bag here - the longest hole is about 300 yards. There is no water, and maybe 4 bunkers total. The entire course is a fairway.

Course is maintained well - greens and tee boxes are in great shape.

$12 to walk. total course length 1,982 yards from the blues.

Went to the driving range here. It really sucked. It's nice to hit golf balls towards the small airport, but really the mats are terrible. The  large bucket is $7, pretty average. Anyway, putting green is not lit, but the driving range is. I will come back to try the 9 holes that they have though. This review does have a chance of being upgraded.

So my friend calls me up and says we're on to play golf on the 31st of March. Since I haven't touched a club since the last time we played-October, I thought I should take advantage of my day off to practice. This place has a practice chipping green, a range with mats and a putting green. I did all three for a couple of hours before I played nine holes. total cost for range balls, nine holes and some cookies was  $17.50. Good deal. Sure, it's flat, you get buzzed by planes and most of the people who play here forget about things like not yelling during your backswing or repairing divots on the green, but hey, good place to practice without busting the bank or my ego. The two women who also wrote reviews of this place are correct, it's a great place for women or begininers to practice. If given a choice, I'd rather play with a woman anyway, they tend to be up on things like repairing divots, not talking during your swing that the blowhard salesguy forgets to do.
