AWESOME!!!!! I took my Golden there this past weekend and it is the best beach ever. I guess it gets a little crowded over the weekend - there were at least 50 dogs there and the beach is fairly small. The parking is also a challenge (street parking only), but it is totally worth your time and trouble if your dog loves swimming. Baloo had a great time! WIll be going back soon!

This is a beach so there's water here.  Yet so many dog owners just come to this beach to AVOID the water.  Okay, this sort of ruins it for those who came to the beach and play near the water so that their dogs can have a nice swim.  Don't get pissy when my dog shakes on you when you're standing right on the shore and blocking him/her as he/she is getting out.

Also, if you don't want to get wet, try taking your wild, untamed, undisciplined, aggressive 60 lbs dog to one of the open fields located 5 ft from the beach.

Additionally, if you see someone standing in one spot and throwing a ball to their dog in the water in one spot, then why the hell would you start throwing through that person's spot?  Why not walk 2 feet away to a different spot and throw somewhere clear and not right at someone whose already been standing there?

I swear, people in Berkeley/Albany/Richmond are either really really stupid or they no longer teach physics in schools anymore.  I can't absorb your molecules so try playing with your dogs somewhere other than right where I'm standing?

And if your kid is screaming and crying for fear of all the dogs, maybe you should leave instead of asking people to take their dogs and leave?  It's called a DOG beach, not NO DOG beach.

I have been here a couple times and I feel that I need to add some information for anyone thinking of going.

First, this place is right on the beach so getting into the bay is no problem.  And the trails around that area are pretty cool.
Second, this place use to be a dump.  Apparently, some groups cleaned it up so it isn't like there is trash on the ground.  But the beach is noticeably dirtier than other dog parks with a beach/bay access.  Flip-flops (which I love to wear) are not recommended.  I went here the first time with my dog and a girl (I think the second date) and she wore flip-flops- lets just say the date didn't go well.
Third, parking!  It isn't easy to tell where you can park without getting a ticket.  I have done alright, but if it is busy there you could run into problems.  I tell you this because I have seen police there every time I have been.

But without a doubt, if your dog loses the bay/ocean, he/she will love this area.  Have Fun!

    I don't have dogs.

But I like to walk, I like the sound of water, and I like art made from reclaimed concrete and other materials. This small beach sits at the beginning to a lovely, tranquil walk, sprinkled with bits of art here and there.

On the few occasions I'm here with smaller humans, they tend to enjoy hanging out to watch the dogs splash and chase each other.

I come here to watch dogs play and run on the beach.  They jump into the crashing waves and swim out much to far to fetch a ball or other beloved toy.  They run back and shake the ocean back on to you since you didn't get a chance to go after the ball yourself.

This beach makes me wish I had dogs that ran into the ocean.  But then I see the wet beach dogs jumping into the cars and also the size of their poop and I'm happy and content with my 2 13lb'ers.

They stick close to me while we stroll through the messy beach - one begs to be picked up b/c he doesn't like sand on his paws.  This beach is no Bali, but not bad for Albany.

Learned about this doggie beach from other dog owners in a dog park.  It's a lot closer than going all the way to Half Moon Bay.  A nice alternative to a dog park where the dogs can run off leash and enjoy a little swim in the ocean.
It wasn't easy to find the entrance as there is no sign about this hidden dog beach.  The beach is quite small but it's actually nice so that you don't lose sight on your doggie whereabouts.  There is also a trail along the coast line and I see a lot of families walking their four-legged friends.

This is THE BEST DOG BEACH EVER!!!!!  If you go down 580 W all the way near Albany and exit Gilman / Buchanan make a left. The small trail to your right  follow it all the way up and there is a super cute hidden beach. Everyone lets their dogs off the leash. It's great and you have an awesome view of San Francisco!
