I am giving this place 4 stars because it exceeded my quality expectations.

I came here on a snowboarding trip with my BF and this is where we decided to have lunch.  I generally have little expectations for the food quality at ski lodge food places, but was pleasantly surprised.

We ordered a large veggie pizza (no cheese) to share and french fries.  The french fries, were thin, dry and not super tasty.  I most likely would not order them again.  The pizza on the other hand was fantastic.  It was loaded with veggie toppings and was huge.  We ended up eating a little more then half and then picking off the toppings.  If we go back, I will make a stop here for sure.

The best part was the entire bill was less than $30, which is more than reasonable for a ski resort.  Way to go kirkwood!

Bub's saved the day after the disaster otherwise known as 7800.  Manager Jenn was the calm in a storm at a ski resort not planning on all its weekend guests returning to the restaurants after the pass closed. They were slammed.

Food was okay. Drinks good. I wish the kitchen stayed open after 8pm.

Thanks, Jenn. I hope Vail sees the brilliance that is you.

Hot apple cider- yummy and warming after a walking through the snow in Kirkwood. Loved that it came with unlimited refills.

Food- Way over priced, but looked decent.

If I were to come here again, I would only sit at the bar and order drinks...maybe play pool? Also, the name cracks me up so that's good in itself. lol

Get the fucking nachos...ignore everything else on the menu.  One order, sans chicken, can feed 3-4 people, and they are relatively pretty tasty.

    Service is slow but friendly.

    Ambiance is meh.

Beware, when a band is playing you will not be able to hear yourself think...don't even attempt a fluid normal conversation as it is utterly pointless.  Therefore, when there is live music: eat, zone the fuck out, pay, and get back on the runs ASAP.

After a hard day of snowboarding we figured we'd try this pub.  Service was horrible as they didn't even take our order after waiting 20 minutes.  We even asked the waiters if they could take our order twice and just got the nod: "like yeah yeah, we'll come over when we feel like it" attitude.  After that we ended up just walking out.

To be honest, the place gave the vibe that they were a little racists.  Let's hope we were wrong but either way, we will NOT be recommending this place to anyone.

Bub's Pub can go shove it!!!

In terms of how the atmosphere is way more laid back and cool, I have been to other Tahoe Area Resorts with MUCH cooler atmosphere.

The good thing about this place is that if you are ordering appetizers or sides as a main dish and you're a girl like me, who doesnt require a HUGE portion of food for $12 (unless splitting with a friend)... then you'll get away paying only around $9 after tipping.  The chili I ordered was actually quite good for chili, considering most resort diners tend to over-season them.  Their menu did look quite appealing if I did have someone to share a plate with, but the menu options are more hearty cuisine (but of course, it IS a pub!)

The prices on drinks are actually quite reasonable for a resort and are not too weak, so it's not like you aren't getting what you paid for.  Its a really good place for people of all ages and has plenty of seating as well as arcade games and pool for people to spend time... which is a definite plus!

The con, in my opinion, is that the wait staff seemed kinda bored and not all that friendly.  They weren't cold, I just typically have received such friendlier service from everyone else at the resort (at Monte Wolf's and Off the Wall).  Maybe it was just our server.  Needless to say I think it is probably one of the better places to relax at the end of the day, especially if you're into watching sports :)

Bub's Pub is very chill and we liked it! I had taken the day off of skiing since I was taking care of Ruggles (my dog) for the day and helping him chase snowballs... Some of our crew retired early from a day of skiiing/boarding and we headed to Bub's Pub.

We had already eaten so just go drinks although the food menu looked pretty good and better than the options we chose from at the main lodge. The drink prices were pretty reasonable and I loved ordering Snugglers (hot chocolate, peppermint schnapps, and whipped cream). These were the most expensive drink at $7 and white russians and other cocktails were $5.75.

We entertained ourselves by playing Texas Hold 'Em at the table using sugar packets and condiments as chips. We all took it pretty seriously considering we could only lose some Splenda!

The service was a bit slow and not totally friendly but we got what we came for - cocktails, a table, warmth, and our friends.

Want to taste the difference between a Mirror Pond Pale Ale and a Pabst Blue Ribbon? I ordered the former here, but received the latter, and after a few sips I knew something was terribly, terribly wrong. I asked the waitress if she gave me the right beer, and she confessed to having PBR on the brain, and brought me the correct beer straight away. Other than this small mishap, service was great and very friendly.

Food is the typical pub-like, ski food, catering to those with healthy appetites.  The wife and I both ordered burgers, and these were cooked to order, very big, and tasty, though a bit overpriced. Kids were super happy with their chicken fingers and fries (the fries were some of the best I've had in a long time).

I confess I was a little disappointed with Bub's Pub. Being the only place open for dinner on a weeknight in Kirkwood resort, I had expected something better - like a warm, inviting atmosphere, stone floors, or maybe a roaring fireplace or two, a good vibe. You know...character. But, apart from the bar (decorated with ski paraphernalia and filled with 20-somethings), it looked more like a cafeteria in an office park, complete with flickering fluorescent lights, linoleum tables and spare decoration. Not really the mountain atmosphere I was craving.

One orders of the nachos can feed an entire legion of hungry skiers, and the buffalo wings are tangy, saucy and good (you can even choose ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side).

We usually come to Bub's for a beer and snacks after a day of skiing, and it hits the spot. You can sit and chat with friends or watch the one of 5 TV screens running sports all day long.

Drowzy service, we ordered lunch and it took over 30 minutes to get to our table (even after I asked the server about it). :-(

    Blue Moon on tap. :-)

    The Good:
The food is reasonably priced (For a ski resort) and the portions are large. The place is no more than 100 yards from the Cornice Express lift so it's easy to get to. When open their nachos are great!

    Now the BAD:
They aren't open for lunch!!!! What's the point of that? They open at 3PM or something stupid like that. So basically unless you want to stop by for a drink after the lifts close this place is useless. I'm not sure if this is to drive business to the other eateries, if it's just a bad business decision or both.

    The Ugly:
....They're not open for lunch.... serious lame

I agree with Jon B: overall, the place is old, smelly and nothing spectacular.  But hot damn, those nachos are ridiculous!   We downed the gigantic platter of nacho heaven with some Mirror Pond pale ales and pretty much forgot about how cold, wet and sore we were from the day of skiing.

We definitely ruined our appetite for dinner, but if you put those nachos in front of me again, I'd do the same.

Service was pretty slow and painful- but there aren't too many option at Kirkwood.

This is not your regular ski resort mountain cafeteria junkfood ! I feel guilty in choosing lunch over riding, but I just can't help it!!!

Compared to the other choices in the vicinity, Bub's deserves the 5 stars. The fries are ahhhhh-mazing, the fish tacos are ridiculous and bbetter than i've tasted in or out of the mountain, the pizzas are delish. and i've seen the nachos, they are monstrous.

Overpriced.  Kind of dirty.  Smells like ski boots.

BUT HOLY BAJESUS THOSE NACHOS ARE INCREDIBLE.  I don't even know if I've had anything else.  After a day of pounding it out at the 'wood, sharing these nachos with a few beers is pure nirvana.  The foot-smell is drowned out by the gastronomical effects shortly thereafter...

Your standard mountain side resort bar.  Average beer selection (A couple Deschutes, New Belgium, Sierra, perhaps a few more).  The food is not good, but it does the trick.  I usually get the nachos and they suffice.  The staff is always very friendly and helpful.

They have several televisions on with any sports games that may be showing at the time.

As expected, overpriced, but I guess that really isn't overpriced because it was expected.

Went here during the summer. For a "grungy" little pub, it's not a bad place to eat. The staff is really friendly, and their burgers aren't all that bad. The food's a touch expensive...but something tells me the people that live out here await toilet paper shipments like the old timers waiting for the Wells Fargo Stage...so stuff just takes a while to ship out there in "B.F.Egypt".

It was closing day and they seemed to be out of everything! Couldn't order the chicken wrap since they were out. Had buffalo wings which were okay but came out a bit cold. My friend had a burger which looked super yummy! But they were out of bacon. Lol. And I asked for mayonnaise to dip my friend's fries in and they were out of the that. The fries were thin and crispy which were awesome!

Yum! a good ski/sports bar after a day of riding at kirkwood. The nachos, previously mentioned, are amazing and huge and really hit the spot. Pizza was good too!. a friend and I shared these two items and couldn't even finish half, so It really not that expensive if you are sharing with more people. I saw pizza rolls on the menu and  the totinos microwaveable version came to mind, then I saw them being delivered to another table just after we ordered. They were huge and looked awesome! Im definitely going to get those on my next visit. Service isnt stellar but thats not what im going for in a place like this.

nothing like early morning runs at kirkwood...snowboarding down the wall...tough icy run...sunny and near t-shirt weather...managing over icy bumps and chunks...scraping along downhills...snowboard binding mishap resulting in no back support...each turn a strain...tired later afternoon and deciding on rest and lunch....bub's sports bar nice and mellow...not so crowded during sunny and icy conditions...$five brew...$two soda...a mountain of chicken nachos quite tasty..layers of beans, chips, toppings, chips and more....all baked to a perfect melting perfection...chips crispier and toastier...quite large for one person....enough as a meal for three in opinion...nachos with chicken added all for $thirteen...the $twelve fish & chips fairly standard with good skinny mcdonald-type fries...the burgers solid at $nine...fat patty and tasting great except for the burger being cooked well-done...watch sports, eat and rest before few more runs before heading down...
