I'm not a big Yelper, but the pizza here in the Georgetown/Groveland area is so mediocre, I had to take time to write up Bub's.

Homemade dough, excellent and balanced toppings, these guys deliver...good pizza, I mean.

We've gone three times so far and every order has been successful. The guys behind the counter are very friendly and laid back. Great value and quality. Try the whole wheat crust, it's excellent. I was getting really discouraged with the other places in Georgetown. Grateful that Bub's is so close. Give them a try. Located on Route 97, across the street from the Tea Garden.

    Bubs Rocks!

This is a family owned business which I like to patronize.  It has changed a little since it first opened.  Mom used to make homemade brownies and chocolate chip cookies which were sold for short change ($1-$1.50) and well worth it.  I have not seen Mom around (hope she is OK, or maybe the place has changed hands), but the young guys who work there are always so nice.

I've been there at least 20 times since they have opened. They offer actual take out meals like ham, meatloaf and other comfort food standards.  One of my favs is Mom's recipe of Capt Crunch Chicken, it's to die for!  I have not ordered that in a while.  The sides are pretty standard like corn, peas, potato, rice and include a side salad and warm pita bread.  They come in small and large sizes and even the small is too big for me.

Bubs makes a decent burger too, but their specialty pizza is awesome.  Especially the AWESOME pizza which I ordered on Saturday the 21st.  This pizza has Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce instead of regular tomato sauce, and basically has a steak bomb on it-peppers, onions, mushrooms and shaved steak topped with pepper jack cheese.  It is awesome.  I discovered it one day when I had a crew of guys working at my house and I wanted to feed them on a Friday.  I ordered up a bunch of pizza at Bubs, including 3 specialty pizzas and the guys loves the AWESOME.

Bubs often runs specials on pizzas like Bogos with the second free, half price or some other deal.  Even at their regular prices the pizza is great.  I should mention they also have whole wheat crust pizza although I have never tried it.

They often have great coupons that come in the mail or are available online or in the restaurant, and when I use these I typically give my savings back to the guys working behind the counter because they deserve it for being so nice.  For example, I was torn between getting the Super Veggie or the Awesome, but because I wanted my squeeze to love me more I got man cave food and opted for the Awesome.  I like the Super Veggie being a chick and all because it is lighter.  When I told the guy making my pizza that I love the eggplant on the Super Veggie, he tossed a few pieces down one side of the pizza just for me, and at no charge.  This type of service is what makes me come back to this neighborhood gem.

Keep it up guys, and say Hi to Bub for me (whoever the hell he is!)

If you are looking for good food at a reasonable price and great service Bubs is the place.

Bubs Pizza Cafe is located near the intersection of Salem Street and School Street, tucked behind the Groveland Gas station and diagonal from the Tea Garden.

The place itself is very casual which is order at the counter with a few tables and TV in the self serve dining area. The menu here is quite extensive offering hand tossed pizza (traditional and specialty), calzones, subs, salads, dinner entrees (small & large sizes), kids meals, appetizers and cooler drinks. They use Grande Cheese on the pizza. Breakfast sandwiches and Green Mountain K-cup coffee are also offered too. The prices here are pretty reasonable too. See the menu at http://www.bubspizza.com

I stopped here over the weekend to pick up a specialty pizza before the Super Bowl. I was torn between getting the All In One Buffalo, the Middle Eastern, and the Chicken BLT. I decided on the latter and I did use a $2 off a specialty large (16") pizza coupon from the menu, total just under $14 with tax. The service was good and quick with the pizza ready in 12 minutes as promised.

The Chicken BLT Pizza had breaded chicken fingers, bacon, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, cheeses, and a ranch style sauce, more like mustard. The crust was firm, crispy outside and soft and chewy inside, thin towards the center and slightly thicker towards the edge of the slice.

Overall, the pizza was pretty decent. The ingredients on the Chix BLT pizza were an interesting combination including the juicy bacon & crispy chicken fingers, but the sauce could've had more zing and flavor. The crust did have a very nice crisp. I am up for trying the Middle Eastern pizza which sounds very interesting and has "tabouleh" on it.

    DELIVERY: $8 minimum
