Have been here twice: once for brunch and once for after-dinner dessert.

Atmosphere: really nice - feels like someone's home. Ambience is best during the day as there are large windows that let lots of natural light in. In general, they make the most out of a relatively small space (decently sized in NY-standards). Plus, there is a cow in the front.

Service: Standard, which is very good, but not exceptional.

Options: many choices ranging from classic brunch to burgers to fried chicken to, of course, pies. Even for pancakes, they offer 4 different kinds: sour cream, sourdough, banana walnut and blueberry.

Taste: Really good. Sona P. said the Banoffee Pie was the best she's ever had. The Sour Cream Pancakes were the best pancakes I've ever had: huge, perfect blend of fluffy and chewy, and the sour cream + syrup combo is one I would have never presumed to be so exquisitely delicious. So then, why "really good" instead of "amazing"? I also had the Triple Chocolate Devil's Food Cake, which, incidentally, tasted more like hell than it did heaven, as it was dry and flavorless.

Bang for buck: Large portions priced out of proportion. The pancakes were amazing, indeed, but $15 for 3 of them? A $5 pancake? I have no idea how anyone can afford to be a regular here.

Overall: great date spot as it will be romantic and delicious - but don't become a regular unless you make those around you utilise their umbrellas constantly.

Glad I came. Would recommend to others for a one-time thing, at least for brunch. Can't comment on their dinner.

Overall, the taste and quality are amazing here. I highly recommend the lobster omelete, eggs benedict and the pancakes.. I'm salivating just thinking about them..

The prices are outrageous and out of control. The taste doesn't make up for the steepness of the prices so I'm sure there's much better value out there. It's a diner for heaven's sake ;) If you're hungry, you're really gonna pay for it

One of the best brunches I have had in the city. Fresh juice, delicious coffee, excellent fluffy pancakes, incredible corned beef hash!

We showed up around 11am and the wait was only about 15 minutes, but the line appeared to grow quickly .The setup reminds me of grandma's house on the farm. Very cozy, very comfy.

One definitely has to pay for the experience though. It was about 80 bucks for two people. Minus one star for being expensive and taking cash only!

What a treat!  If you are looking for some "down home" feeling good food... Bubby's is for you!  They have a really terrific brunch menu.. Very tasty biscuits...French toast...and some creative egg dishes.  They have some tasty choices for dinner too!  Try their meatloaf!  You may put on a few pounds here...but it is worth it!

I think Breathe said it best in 1988... How can I fall, when you just won't give me reasons?*

This is a very nice space.  Dining room is airy and roomy, bar is cozy.  Service was nice.  Sam was our waiter and he was very friendly.

    But....

On a Sunday morning, there were lots of toddlers so if you're not so much into shrieking at 9:00 am, you might want to avoid this place.  Also, the tables are tight so when the kids throw food (and they do) you'll be wearing it.

Food was disappointing both times I've been there.  I mean it tastes okay, but $17 for two eggs, two pancakes and two pieces of bacon just seems a bit pricey.  They did have real maple syrup, so I'll give them that.  But I could get the same quality food at a diner.  It's not horrible but you'll pay a lot for mediocrity.

I came to Bubby's after the yelp elite event to wait off my buzz, and it was the worst choice. There are some tasty beers on tap, and I was powerless against them. The bartender, Steve, was nice eye candy and made a recommendation for the turkeyburger. It was really good, juicy, with bits of veggies. I also had a chocolate chip cookie and a peanut/chocolate/graham cracker pie slice to go.

Food is good, atmosphere is very family friendly. I've never seen so many kids in one place, outside of NYC parks.

Bubby's was a great find on this otherwise dreary Sunday morning. Luckily I was meeting girlfriends who had already claimed their table (and killed a few mimosas and their entrees) so I didn't have to suffer through the 45 minute wait I overheard the host quote. I'm always a sucker for exposed brick, and the huge windows allowed for lots of natural light and made the place really bright (even on a grey day).

The people who worked here all went above and beyond to make us happy. When two of us showed up to crash our friends' two-top, they came up and offered us a 4-top and even carried over all of our stuff. The server was incredibly attentive and was constantly checking in since we were all on different ordering schedules. We were never thirsty!

Unfortunately, great service and atmosphere can't completely overshadow overpriced food and a CASH ONLY policy (which totally ruined the rest of what would have been a great experience). The menu is full of the staples (admittedly, all very well done) - pancakes, huevos rancheros, burgers - but is priced like it's something special. To add insult to injury, they only take cash. Cash only is fine if I'm just buying a coffee, but when I'm paying for $18 sandwiches and $13 mimosas, it's just insulting.

Food was  overpriced and mediocre at best.  Had the chorizo and shrimp mess which came with burnt toast.  Sausage was not chorizo - more like breakfast sausage.  Was not worth the $24.

I came here for pie.  I left after eating a great Kale salad and GIANT slice of banana cream pie.  It was worth the $27 for lunch.  Might come back just for pie though.  $27 for lunch by myself on a Friday is not something I am sure I'm proud of.

I have a big problem with very busy, big places not taking credit cards. Business is sufficient that you can eat the service fee for a credit card. If the place is tiny (like Egg) I don't have a problem with it but c'mon.

Another bone to pick, my $4 bottomless cup of coffee was in fact, a $4 cup of coffee. The waiter never returned to refill my cup. I would have been better off getting a cappuccino  or something else had I known that I would only be getting one cup. My dish, the Bubby's Breakfast was fine, although I would recommend the cheese grits, that was the best part of the dish. My wife got but did not enjoy the Mr. Crunch, their version of the croque monsieur, too much ham, not enough cheese.

The place is loud enough and kid friendly, which was why we were there, but chances are, there will be no repeat visits.

    "Meh" is right.

I came here because I was in the mood for unpretentious (but not boring) food that wouldn't break the bank. The meatloaf sounded good, and I got mac & cheese and spinach for my sides. Can't get much heartier than that. But when it arrived, I didn't love that the meatloaf was smothered in greasy onion straws. The bacon was flaccid. The meatloaf itself was bland. So was the gloppy mac & cheese -- bummer, 'cause it's one of my favorite foods. The sauteed spinach was the only thing I liked.

And it was expensive. I had that and a single strawberry lemonade (no booze), which came to $35 for just me. Maybe it would have been worth it if the meal was a bit snazzier and I cleaned my plate. I guess dinner is not this place's strong suit.

Perhaps the best thing about being everyone's boring sober friend is that these days when I go to brunch, I actually remember enough of it to Yelp about it. Following that, after starving myself silly for a month I thought of no better place to celebrate George Washington and my new protruding hip bones than Bubby's.

Charming in a southern kind of way while trendy in a Tribeca kind of way, Bubby's is simply a "good 'ol comfort food" brunch place with pretty people. Meaning you and about 200 other people will be there and they, like you, can not make reservations for anything other than dinner. Be prepared to wait in a super crowded bar if you get there later than noon. Also, it's cash only.

Food wise, it's wonderful. I ordered the fruit and greek yogurt item on the menu and received enough of both to feed all of Zimbabwe. The dish wasn't cluttered with cantaloupe or melon, either (basically the mixed fruit equivalent of Easter egg grass in your Easter egg basket)- in fact, neither were present. My friend's cappuccino was "the best (she) had ever had", and while she wasn't as enthusiastic about her egg/home fries combo thing, she was impressed enough to finish her plate.

Had one of those nights and came here pretty done. My friend put her name on the list and we waited at the bar to get seated for brunch. Your wallet is going to get raped because the prices are ridiculous. $10 for Oatmeal, $13 for a Bloody Mary, $22 Eggs Benedict. Fuck outta here Bubby's. At least twenty minutes had past when we noticed that people who came in after us were already being seated. I went up to inquire and was told a table just opened up. So I guess putting your name down and sitting right in front of the hostess means that they won't bother to call your name. At Bubby's everyone sits on top of each other and they are also cash only to be of a further convenience to the customers. I ordered the Salmon Benedict and it came out pretty promptly. The food was average and didn't warrant a $24 tag on it. Never forget.

One positive is they have a black and white photo booth in the basement. Best believe we took advantage of that to cleanse ourselves of the experience.

christmas eve brunch with a friend, tribeca was empty that day.

ran to chase across the street for some cash as they're cash only on weekends. HATE the bank charge!! oh well it was christmas, we weren't about to let that ruin brunch!

we both got mimosas to start, then proceeded to instagram for a good ten minutes. i ordered the corned beef hash and my friend got "something with grits" hahaha

now about corned beef hash- i've never had it until late last year when i tried some of my friend's fare at a local diner. YUM YUM YUM. i don't care if it comes out of a can and is processed with things i'm not aware of, that ish is delicious. over-easy eggs on the side, whose yolk you sop up with some whole wheat toast...hellooooo

the corned beef hash was delicious, as were my friend's grits (another food i've recently come to love, esp. with a fried egg and some pepper). our waiter was very nice and made sure we were taken care of.

went downstairs to the photo booth (natch) and i don't know if that booth is extremely aged but the processing came out very dark. ya can't win 'em all.

    overall good times at bubby's.

The smells wafting from Bubby's as we walked by were enough to draw us in.  Unfortunately, our timing was bad.  Saturday afternoon at 4:00, the restaurant was in between menus, just finishing Saturday Brunch.  they could not seat us until 4:15, when the afternoon menu kicks in.  We waited outside in the super comfortable rolling rockers and people-watched (this was the final weekend of the TriBeCa film fest, so there were a lot of interesting people out-and-about).

The afternoon menu, it turns out, is the most limited.  If we wanted any of their famous Pork products, we would have to come back at 6.  The afternoon menu is soups, salads, burgers, and light fare.  I got a Cobb Salad - which was actually fantastic - bacon was incredible, avocado and dressing were delicious.  Friends each got a burger - they said it tasted extremely "fresh", a very very good burger.

I need to come back when I can get the bacon-wrapped meatloaf, or the pulled pork.  For today, a nice late afternoon lunch, Bubby's was good.

One word:  overpriced.  Got the Abraham Lincoln.  Was good but not worth the price.  My wife and I could have gotten better food at less than half the price at the local diner right across the street from where we live.  Skip it.  Leave it to the hipsters.

If you had just handed me the plate of pancakes, tiny bacon and eggs and said, 'here you go!'* I would have said thanks Mr./Mrs. IHOP waiter person, because the breakfast here wasn't anything special.

I mean, sure, the pancakes were sufficiently pancake-y and the eggs indeed were served as I asked for them. But if I'm going to fight a crowd almost twenty people deep at the front door, make sure my entire party is there at the exact moment you call my name, lest I be usurped by the hungry hordes haranguing me it's kind of a let down when I see these fairly adequate but otherwise unspecial breakfast is going to cost me $20.

Well, $17 for the pancakes, two eggs and two tiny pieces of bacon.

    And it's cash only. Yowza.

Anyway, Bubby's isn't bad by any means, and I don't mean to knock the food (too much) or the service (our waitress and hostess were really nice) but it's a really bad price-for-value location. Consider this: they don't serve Diet Coke, they have homemade soda concoctions for which they'll charge you $5 each. That's a steep price for a Diet Coke, even in New York!

I get that this place is popular, and by no means would they miss me if I didn't come back, but if you're just looking for breakfast or brunch, I'd suggest you find somewhere else.

    * - I'd first wonder why you were handing me a plate of breakfast. Do I know you? Did someone put you up to this? WHO ARE YOU!

Stopped in for a quick bite with my wife before one of her meetings. The ministrone soup with ramps caught my eye and hit the spot; however, the cornbread was a bit dry. This being a pie company, I tried the Michigan cherry and wasn't disappointed with that familiar sour bite. The atmosphere was bright, energetic and whimsical...great energy and the perfect spot for lunch.

I do love Bubby's!  Now do I love it because I've just gotten pulled up in to the hype and kool-aide that surrounds this place?  Perhaps, but you don't get this kind of following without being pretty well deserving of it.  Yes, there is ALWAYS a wait during brunch time on the weekends and most holidays, but it's worth it.  The food is VERY good, especially the breakfast dishes, the ambiance is cool and although it's open 24 hours Tuesday-Saturday, it doesn't feel like a 24 hour dive place, it's actually nice.  I'm a big fan!  And it is CASH ONLY so hit the ATM machine before sitting down at the table.

After going here several times a month and recommending this place to everyone, I had a terrible experience with a less than good waitress. I emailed management to let them know about my experience. To my surprise I  got zero reply. I guess a long time customer is not appreciated at this place. I can't say much about the menu here - I came here for one reason. VEGGIE BURGER. While it was kind of on the steep side for $16, I think veggie burgers are the one item that vegetarians should splurge on. The only other options are cheap bland patties, and this burger was anything but. I don't even know what was in it, it was amazing. AMAZING. They give you one side, so I got the broccoli with crispy garlic chips. Perfect. My friend and I also split the flaky homemade biscuits. They were buttery and warm, no complaints. Just eat them immediately or they become a bit dense and heavy after waiting. It was an abundance of food, but didn't leave me feeling gross after.

I am so glad this place is in Tribeca so I don't have this veggie burger for lunch every day. I'd be broke.

It might be nostalgia, but I truly enjoy coming here. Sure it's a little on the steep side for dishes, but the overall atmosphere and menu really works well together. I truly believe there is something for anyone that comes in here. Been coming here lately for lunch and its definitely alot more "comfort foody" than the dinner menu. I remember way back when they used to have all you can eat spaghetti and I never let my friend get it b/c I know we'll come out of there looking like a crime scene. It wouldn't have been pretty.

As of late, I've had the eggs&chorizo mess, split pea soup, and their slammin bloody mary. and I don't even LIKE bloody marys!! But i like theirs. go figure.

And finally - their pie is awesome. Probably one of my fave key lime pies in nyc. Who doesn't like pie? Definitely not Jason Biggs.

It really pains me to write this being a huge bubbys fan but our last experience was bad, and it's now clear thy Bubby's has a GRADE PENDING FOR A REASON.

My pre-wife (aka fiancée)  Found a huge hair in her huevos rancheros , and I'm not talking somewhere in the middle. It was right on freaking top, waving at us. I mean how can anyone serve something like that, how come the waitress didn't see it. That is blatant and gross.

Get your act together bubbys. Seriously.

Went here for dinner (and actually have been wanting to go for brunch for a while now), but I was pretty unimpressed by the southern comfort food here.

We were able to walk in and sit right away on a Monday night - cozy, rustic and candlelit.  I started my experience there excited and ready to eat some good down south food!

I ordered the bacon wrapped meat loaf, but the bacon was gummy and floppy  and mostly the white fatty part - I was expecting spectacular crunch.  Meat loaf, as per usual, is nothing to write home about and unfortunately that was the case with this meat loaf as well. I had sides of hush puppies (dry and actually not as good as the ones from Virgils BBQ, if you can believe it!) and a sweet potato.  There wasn't any maple butter to go with the hush puppies, are you kidding me?  Probably the biggest faux pax in southern cooking.  We closed with the key lime pie.  For a "pie company", this was another undeniable disappointment! You would think they would AT LEAST get this right, but alas they didn't.  The graham crust wasn't crunchy, and the flavor tasted horribly artificial.  We shared one and barely made a dent in it.  That should say a lot.

Maybe for brunch, but certainly NOT for dinner and DEFINITELY NOT for pie. Pass!

This place is great! Not my favorite brunch spot but I would definitely go back.

-The wait isn't terrible - our party of 3 showed up at 1 PM and even though the maitree'd said we should expect a 40 min wait, a table was ready for us within 15 min
-The food is on point - we loved the blintzes and corned beef hash.
-Portions are huge - likely should've shared 2 dishes between the 3 of us instead of 3 so that we could've saved space for their famous pie
    -They have Sriracha
-The staff is friendly/doesn't give off the vibe of a frantic brunch rush

Service is slow, the joint is filled with screaming kids, the coffee came cold and I paid $20 for scrambled eggs....  Having said all this, the bright light was that the kitchen was very fast!!!  Maybe dinner is less hectic and perhaps a different, less pretentious server would help....

There is probably nothing more lame than a Yankee lecturing somebody from the South about how grits are supposed to taste.

Trust me --- what you are serving is not grits and does not even look or taste even remotely like real grits.  It has nothing to do with runniness --- the taste was literally like wall paper glue and the consistency was bad.

With my wife in tow, you are flying into a headwind of over 100 years of grits eating, Ron.

If I reviewed this place 2 years ago it would have been 5 stars. But today...it has jumped the shark. Food really is now average at best. Cost is ridiculous. How should breakfast for 2 with no alcohol cost $90!!! It's friggen pancakes and eggs.

Even the pies seem like they have fallen off. The whole dining experience with the food, cost, crowds has really taken this place far down my list  as a dining option in the neighborhood.

    I'll be back!

This charming restaurant has a distinctive retro vibe that I found irresistible, so much so that I insisted all four in our party squeeze into the photo booth in the basement to document my first visit.

My pancakes were truly the best I have ever had (don't tell my husband). The portions are generous and next time I'll consider sharing. Many other items on the menu appealed to me, as did the pie.

I suspect Bubby's is one of those places that's so popular that there's often a wait. This wasn't the case with us at 10:30 on a Monday morning. Because I believe one of the worst things in the [foodie] world is when you finally get to the restaurant you've been wanting to try, you have to wait and wait for a table, I suggest that if you're interested in giving Bubby's a try, maybe pick an off-peak time for your first vist.

One of the best places to eat in NYC if you need a kid friendly option. Awesome atmosphere; great menu:
    - pork sliders - addictive
    - ribeye w/ lobster - solid
    - Artichoke dip - not a fan of artichoke dip generally, but this was awesome

    Would absolutely return and recommend

    It's funny because I love:
    - Fake over-sized cows greeting me at the entrance.
    - Swinging porch type benches (4 of them outside).
    - Pancakes (with maple syrup that you would kiss the ground for).
    - The smell of bacon (maybe it's hidden fans, but you smell the bacon from a block away every night).
    - Delicious burgers, not the best in TriBeCa but still worthy.
    - 24 hours, the way everything should be for us night owls.
    - Pies & Cookies (bonus for being fresh, yummerz).
    - Hidden Pac-man machine downstairs on the way to the bathroom
    - Midnight brunch! I like midnight anything but especially when eggs are involved.

But what makes my nose wiggle with discontent:
    - Different menus for different hours, I think there is like 4 types, and I find myself having to ask which menu it is every time I go in to decide.
    - The staff doesn't smile, they are in no way mean, they just don't seem friendly. When I ordered water, I feel like I severely disappointed the waiter one day, he walked away like I had just bullied him in the school yard.
    - Prices aren't the greatest, and that's a killer for an Italian geep like me.

One of the better burgers I've had in downtown. American cheese, caramelized onions and bacon cooked to perfection! Their mac 'n cheese is pretty good as well. It's pricier then the average fare, but worth the trip.
