Any vegan options?

Nope! Everything seems to have dairy or eggs however I didn't ask the workers but I'm assuming everything wasn't vegan friendly

I love ice cream - I love waffles. No wonder hubby made sure our date stopped at Bubble Wrap and Waffle on Broadway in Redwood City. We had the s'mores and dreams. The waffle is delicious - great batter, soft and crispy. We need to come back and taste their savory menu. It was delicious - I wanted more ice cream. Worth a stop for a sweet treat!

[During COVID-19]
Sweet Bubble Waffle has signs inside making sure there aren't too many people inside. After ordering everyone you must wait outside. They bring tour order out to you.
After dinner we decided to try this place out. My boyfriend is obsessed with the bubble waffle so this was a place we needed to try. Since we are in Walnut Creek its a mission to come out here but we're we're already out here for dinner.
Everyone I was with ordered the churro waffle. The churro waffle was covered in cinnamon. Glistening in the light haha everyone loved the flavor and tore those churro waffles up.
I was full from dinner so I just got the chocolate chip waffle. The chocolate chip tasted a little burnt to me but the waffle was delicious!
The lady working there was super nice. She was busting her butt. It was pretty crowded but we only waited 5 minutes for our dessert.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 2, 2021
This place is new, and it is simply AWESOME. After eating what felt like 5 pounds of BBQ, I stopped in here for some dessert. I've had bubble waffle's other places, and the pictures of these desserts looked simply stunning. I decided on ordering the Matcha waffle, and it was simply heaven all through out -- matcha ice cream, matcha waffle, pocky, strawberries, and whipped cream. My friends had the churro wrap, and yep - the wrap tasted just like a churro from Disneyland (ah, the memories!)
There's no better word to describe Bubble & Wrap other than "delicious." I will definitely be coming back so I can try the other wraps!
Tip: There's a parking garage around the corner that offers free parking for 1.5 hours (depending on the time of day.) It's super convenient.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 17, 2019
Be forewarned: the creations here are quite large. Definitely sharing size, though admittedly the sweets here are really good and you might not want your companion to bogart your churro waffle ice cream creation.
We came by after a pretty filling meal at a nearby Japanese restaurant and after being thwarted in our attempts to find a satisfactory froyo place. So it was serendipity that we arrived here, but it was truly a happy accident. Each of us in our party selected a different item, but then we saw how large they were and decided that we couldn't possibly finish off one. We selected the churro and the matcha and both were really liked. The waffles are light and airy and were a good counterpoint to the sweetness of the ice cream that it came with. The matcha ice cream was especially good, with a nice flavor and just a little bit of spice to make it complete. The churro waffle was the favorite of the table, as it had that definite churro flavor but without the greasiness that typifies real churros. Definitely a place that we're going to visit again, hopefully soon.
BTW, the menu photos that have been posted as of the time of this review (mid-November 2019) are not accurate, as the sweet waffle menu has been expanded and the savory menu has shrunken. When we were there, the only savory waffles being offered were the cheesy garlic, chicken and waffles, and pizza waffle.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 19, 2020
This place is in downtown Redwood city, so finding parking may be tricky. Luckily, we found a spot a few blocks down and came in. It's a pretty small shop, with only a few tables, but outside has a lot of benches and space to enjoy your waffle.
We ordered one churro waffle since we read the reviews about how big these desserts were and one plain egg waffle. The reviews don't lie that these waffles are meant to be shared. The plain waffle was fresh and warm and tasted great. The churro waffle wasn't overly sweet as I thought it would have been. The ice cream tasted really good with it too.
This is definitely a new dessert shop that I plan to visit more often. The waffles here are fresh and well made. Some of their other menu flavors are quite extreme with a lot of sugary toppings.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 13, 2019Updated review
My most recent trip to downtown I wanted to grab a quick bite and rather than going to a sit down restaurant, I decided to revisit this place.
My last visit I ordered the sweet bubble waffle with ice cream for an afternoon treat. This time my companion and I wanted to have something from the savory menu. We ordered bacon & egg bubble waffle and the chicken & waffle. Both were amazingly delicious. The bacon waffle had scrambled egg, 3 bacon strips on skewers and topped with avocado and a slightly spicy chipotle mayo sauce and sweet maple syrup on the bottom. While this was not my order, I can say it was throughly enjoyed by my companion.
The chicken and waffle was much more simple, only 3 breaded chicken tenders, a pat of butter and maple syrup at the bottom. The chicken was nicely seasoned and not overly breaded and stuffed into the bubble waffle. As you bite into the chicken, it was not greasy/oily or doughy--the breading was light. Dipping the chicken into the pool of maple syrup at the bottom was delicious. Once you finish the chicken, you slowly tear at the bubble waffle, dipping each torn piece into the remaining reservoir of syrup.
The bubble waffles are filling and reasonable in price--$8 for savory waffles.
You are not restricted to order the set sweet or savory recommendations, the business also offers an "a la carte" version, the basic bubble waffle plus 1 one item for only $5 or just a plain waffle for $4.
The only downside to this business is that there is limited seating inside, counter seating with 4 or 5 stools by the window and stationary bench sitting on each side of the wall; a table is available for use with either bench, but no chairs. Outside seating is available in a sectioned area in front of the business, but it is not ideal when it is cold or rainy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jul 7, 2018Previous reviewSatisfy your ice cream and eggette (bubble waffle) cravings here. What a creative way to serve an ice cream...not your typical waffle cone. They offer both sweet and savory options of their eggettes and fruity drinks, but on this visit I opted for the sweet version.
I ordered the #2, Chocolate Overload and it did not disappoint. Chocolate eggette, chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, whipped cream, bananas topped with chocolate sauce. Definitely returning to try the savory waffles.
This is definitely something different and a welcome change from another boba shop or coffee place on Broadway. - Feb 23, 2019
My three stars review is a little complicated. Overall my experience was meh probably because it was a whole lot of waffle for me without much else. I ordered the specialty banana bread waffle. It tasted, as one would expect, of banana, walnuts, and waffle. The flavors were super delicious, until I was half way through my waffle and got tired of just eating a waffle.
Tl;Dr: I'd go again, but get either a sweet or savory waffle that isn't just a waffle. The prices were reasonable (just waffle five bucks, with ice cream six bucks, etc.) and the staff were nice. Flavors good, but waffle portion was a bit big for me :(Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 13, 2019
Not a bad dessert shop. Service is good, but they are very small. Also it is a little slow in getting your egg puff (maybe they don't have many egg puff machines).
I got the Matcha with no strawberries, and it was pretty good. Not too sweet which I like. One friend got the Hot Chocolate which I tried it wasn't great. Not the worst hot chocolate I've ever had, but nothing special.
Another friend ordered the Churro which I did not try, but she said it was too sweet. My other friend ordered the Banana Bread Waffle and she was not impressed.
Overall it's ok, just order the Matcha.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 23, 2018
Having walked by this place a dozen times, my kids finally forced me to take them here. The "bubble wrap waffle" seems like they make it in a takoyaki type iron, but I can't imagine they would do that. The waffle cone is literally a regular breakfast style waffle with bubbles of waffle--just plain waffles. The lone exception is the horchata style which basically has the horchata flavoring added to it--which was pretty good actually.
I'd recommend the horchata version but only if you like cinnamon of course as it is loaded with that. The fresh berry version is in the pic below. They have a tamarind style version for those preferring those Mexican/Thai flavors.
Overall I give them an "A" for creativity and fresh ingredients with excellent ice cream. It does tend to be a but heavy though as the servings are ginormous! I'd say this is a great competitor to Teaspoon located a couple blocks down Broadway and brings excellent dessert options to downtown RWC!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 4273762891May 8, 2018
Crispy egg waffles with generic ice cream!
FOOD:
They offer dessert & savory egg waffle cones! We ordered the matcha cone with matcha ice cream. The waffle was really crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. However, we didn't really taste the matcha. The matcha ice cream is the typical "gooey" ice cream you get for free at the Japanese restaurants, if they nice made ice cream it would be perfect!
SERVICE:
Friendly staff and the waffle comes out pretty quick depending on how busy it is.
AMBIANCE:
There are seats on the inside (a bench and window seats) and some seating on the outides, which is perfect for a sunny day. They don't have a bathroom and parking isn't too bad.
Verdict: If I'm in the area, I would try their savory egg wafflesHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Feb 19, 2018
Stopped by late one evening and ordered their cookies and cream ice cream waffle. It came in an original egg waffle with cookies and cream ice cream, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, and fresh strawberries. I opted out of the caramel sauce. I didn't want my dessert too sweet.
It took pretty long to get our order. There wasn't much of a crowd when we came in, but after we ordered, there was a line out the door. The waffle itself lacked flavor - it didn't taste like the typical egg puffs I've had. Everything else was as expected. The mixture of cookies and cream ice cream, whipped cream, and strawberries reminded me so much of the crepe I usually order at Sophie's in Japantown.
I think it was interesting that they had a bunch of unique savory options available. I saw some people ordering steak and eggs and waffles with avocado and such.
Overall they were so-so. Could be better. Maybe a differently flavored waffle would've tasted a lot better?Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0
