Really good, simple food. The spicy turkey and vegetable soup is amazing and the burgers looked great. The atmosphere is very laid back and the service is friendly. The prices are very inexpensive - our party of 3 ate well for $20 including drinks!
Food is good and served quickly, and service is friendly to the extreme. My wife and I stopped in, a bit nervous because we weren't really in the mood for deep-fried pub grub, and to be totally honest that's what Bubba's does best. But once in, our stomachs settled and we dug in.
I ordered an app to start, some kind of cheesy tater tots+Sriracha mixture on a tortilla. Good, spicy, and big. I liked it. I had a Burger with sriracha, bacon, and goat cheese on it, which, while good, was absolutely flaming hot. The onion rings were good though.
My wife had an avocado chicken salad, with a pesto-stle dressing. It was surprisingly tasty, and unsurprisingly, huge. Very satisfying. We also had a couple Michigan brews, which is what we like to see in a place like this.
Overall, very good value, and quite a few surprises on the menu, including some welcome variations and departures from traditional "bar food," like a fish reuben and tater tots.

This is my second visit to Bubba's. I am cursing myself for ordering salad...TWICE. This is not a joint for salads, just trust me. Burgers, fries, fried food, and a random mix of Tex/Mex, yes.
Ok, Mondays kids eat free. It's a bit "holiday inn" for me, but it obviously works because this place looked like an elementary school cafeteria at 530 when we stopped in for dinner. Luckily we had my chow hound, 3 year old nephew with us, so score one for the kiddo, he filled up for free.
Beyond that, from 3-5:30pm it's "Bubba time" and all the food is 1/3 off. Interesting, but I applaud the concepts for getting people in the door.
The food is OK. Again, I wouldn't go with salad, but it is what it is. I should've ordered the quesadillas, but I was trying to be "healthy." Well, screw that I ended up eating the kid's leftover cheeseburger anyway....
Service was a little spotty, albeit friendly. It was busy...
The cookies are top notch. We all split a chocolate no bake and a macaroon and I think we were all pretty happy. Oh, except the child claimed "cookies aren't dessert" but then in the next breath also said "wow, I am loaded with food."
True. You can fill up pretty cheap here, check out the numerous specials...it seems there is something going on every single day at various hours...I'm actually quite certain if you went on the right day with right aged people, they might actually pay you to eat there, but who knows ;)

The food here is good. Burgers and fries are great. Tacos and burritos are too.
Only compliant is the service. Ever since Bubba's moved to their new location the service has been much worse. The large six person tables are awkward to share as the staff suggests.
Fun atmosphere with a lot of TVs. This place is always busy!
Do they still feature $2 Bloody Mary Sundays? Mmmm...
On a recent visit to Bubbas, I only came away with one drawback amidst a plethora of positive. A breakdown:
1. Great menu. I love the portions (nachos, for example) and the food has been consistently great for years. They also bring you pretzels and mustard for free while you wait for your food.
2. Service. Even when it is busy, the service is reliable.
3. Atmosphere. What a fun place! It's not off the wall ridiculous, but the decor is fun and there are quiet televisions to watch. Plus its right on Front Street downtown, which on a sunny day is a great view.
The only drawback I experienced on a off-time lunch visit was the time it took to get our food. Our server explained that they were understaffed in the kitchen, but that is the reason I held back from a 5-star review.
Great price & selection of menu. Like others said, we were there during 1/3 off hours (only food menu is 1/3 off) and it was great! They even took 16 cents off from additional condiments which was 50 cents :)
They seem to have good fried food. Somewhat plain but good
Their tables are big (for 6+ people) and I read a sign at the door they let pairs share a table. Not sure if they really do. We were there when they weren't busy, so we got a big table all to ourselves.
My friends and I just got back from the dunes nearby and we were really hungry. The person at the visitor center recommended Bubba's. Its owner also owns 310 Restaurant but Bubba's is more casual dining. They have a decent selection of soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, pastas and more; so there's something for everyone. We tried the fish and chips and corned beef sandwich and they are not bad. They have awesome chips/fries surprisingly. The sandwich was nicely grilled although I was expecting it to be huge, with corned beef piled high up between fresh rye bread slices like the ones from NY. Prices are decent and we got 1/3 off our bill because they had the 1/3 off special between 3-5.30pm everyday. What a deal!
Bubbas is pretty much my standard when it comes to lunch or dinner when I'm downtown. The prices are reasonable, even for a tight budget, and they have 1/3 off everything from 3:30 to 5:30 PM.
I'm a fan of pretty much anything on the menu, from their vegetarian Portabella sandwich to their utterly FANTASTIC wings. Their fries are absolutely fantastic.
It gets pretty busy during the evening, but even when my friends and I had to sit in smoking, it wasn't nearly as bad as some of the other places in town.
It's ALWAYS Happy Hour on Thursdays (alll day looong) at Bubba's! AaannD! WE went during BUBBA TIME (3:30 - 5:30 p.m.), when E V E R Y T H I N G is 1/3 off! YEAH!
I had The Grape Labowski drink! It was grapity-grape! Scrumptious! Fiercely grape! The drink's description was as follows: The dude abides. The other drink descriptions included the ingredients within; this one was an exception and spoke for itself, abounding with grape goodness!!!
They had LOTS of crazy drinks such as: The Chinese Chicken, Blue Superman, Green Weanie and Red Head Princess and jello shots like: Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Oatmeal Cookie and Damn Nasty (Hot Damn and Hennessy)!!!
We were SO EXCITED about the tater tot option--and they were the kind that I am SURE Napoleon Dynamite could NOT resist! And, our burgers were legendary and generous!
Also, there was a lot of fun decor going on--a display of kids' artwork as well as a picture of Andy Warhol's soup can melting--and what I think was a peacock!
If you come to Traverse City, YOU MUST COME HERE!
