And they're even tolerant of visiting idiots.
Great lunch. Had the pulled pork and it was a good rendition. Meats smoked on site out back. Great service. The waitress was a great sport despite the fact that we were wise-asses. Clearly she thought we were insane - correct (ding!).
Even though Jackson Hole is a mega-tourist trap of posers, wallet sharks and turds to be avoided at all cost, if you need a decent lunch before heading out to the wilds, this would be a good choice. BTW, we now just abbreviate Jackson Hole to just 'A-hole'. -

Good place, good value.
Mucho kinds of meat. Decent salad bar.
It's grub, pretty good grub. Fancy's up the street. -

This is one of those places where it's not that great but for some reason you go to anyway. We went for breakfast before we left for the airport. I was expecting more than what we got, but it wasn't bad. The service was good and there was quite a bit to choose from on the menu. I got an omelette which wasn't too greasy. The highlight for me were the hashbrowns which were awesome!
There were setting up for lunch as we were getting out and the salad bar didn't look very spectacular. Some have made comments about the bbq and I'd be willing to give it a try. But there's much better food options in Jackson, but it's not open 24 hours on the weekends like Bubba's. -

Someone claiming to be a local on the lift told us to check this place out for the baby backs. And as we normally do, we listened. I will start with the good. Our waitress, a heavy set woman was fantastic. Rarely have I encountered the attention to detail and service. We tipped 35% and I never tip more than 20%.
The baby backs were the problem. The flavor was better than good and if that is where the judging stopped we would have had a perfect meal. But the meat was really tough and chewy. I prefer my ribs to fall off the bone and be tender but these were like jerky. Not worth a repeat trip.
Also tried the brisket, again, an average dish. If you are stuck with no other options due to a lack of transportation this place will do. But don't make an effort. -

3.5 average.
Whether you live near or within the town of Jackson or just passing through, there's one restaurant that just seemed to catch our eyes, "Bubba's BBQ." There's nothing spectacular looking about the venue, just a simple sign and an average looking building. Googlemaps shows an old "Village Inn" once existed in its place meaning Bubba's just moved here from a different venue. Perhaps my eyes are magnetically drawn to the acronym BBQ? Bubba's is located on the main street of Broadway so no matter where you're going in Jackson, you're bound to drive past it. The curiosities even lead us to ask a local what he thought of the joint where he proceeded to say that it was a decent place.
On our final snowboarding day, we decided that we wanted to try Bubba's BBQ out. Heck, why not? You're tired, soar, and hungry like a bear. Nothing beats a hefty meal to wrap up the day on the slopes. In our full gear and all, we finally headed towards our questionable destination. Upon entering, I felt like I was walking into an old Denny's. The counter/cashier upfront and a "please wait to be seated" type greet. One thing that stood out was the salad bar where the signs read something along the lines of: no sharing and no take home! Yessir!
By looking at the other patron's dishes as they were being served, we knew right away that portions were not going to be an issue. Although it was late lunch time, many of us decided to order off their dinner entrees and just split the plate. This actually worked out and the amount of food was perfect.
Most of us ordered the Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Spare Ribs dinner combination plate for around $17. This also came with two side orders and garlic Texas style toast. The toast is addicting; fluffy and soft on one side and crispy on the other. It's perfectly infused with garlic. Whatever you order as a side, make sure you get yourself Bubba's famous beans. Take that toast and dip away. This was probably my favorite side. We also had a corn on the cob which I thought was small and bland.
The beef brisket and pulled pork on our plate was actually pretty tender and flavorful. The spare ribs were big but a little fatty and probably my least favorite out of the three meats. I recall them drenching the meat with their BBQ dark maroon sauce. There's also another tangy BBQ sauce on the table along with some chili sauce if you wish to experiment with. Nothing noteworthy though.
Service was fair and also if you decide to order the strawberry lemonade as I did, you only get ONE refill. After that, they will charge you for another order. That was random and the first time I've learned of such a policy. The prices overall are pretty affordable and you definitely will get plenty of food. It wasn't a super spectacular meal but I'd like to say that we were quite satisfied and if we didn't share the plates, our stomachs may have exploded. The garlic toast and the beans (previous Yelper Jenny M. said, "BEST BAKES BEANS..." isn't a long shot) will be missed the most. It wouldn't be a shocker if I was to return to Bubba's BBQ on our next trip back to Jackson, Wy. -

I never like leaving less than 4-star reviews, as I full y realize that my tastes aren't like everyone else's but I guess this is the whole purpose of the YELP review, just to see what others think. To create a bit of back story, we were in JH for a nice weekend getaway, and it delivered, we had a great weekend. On Saturday we went up to Jenny lake and had a nice little 9-mile run. No big deal, right? Well, I haven't run more than 2 miles at a time since AUGUST, so by the time we got to Bubba's I was in a little bit of discomfort. So, my ability to assess good food MIGHT have been a bit off, but I eat enough BBQ to think I have a pretty decent palate when it comes to delicious animal flesh. So, IMHO, the only thing that was REALLY good here was the service. Our server was great. She was attentive, answered all questions without being snotty, and kept our drinks full. The food was WAY average, though the brisket and buttermilk pie was good. And brisket is always my go-to choice at BBQ places anyway. If I had just gotten that, I'd totally go 4 stars (The salad bar looked a lot better than it actually was, so that was a tad disappointing, but we were in a BBQ place, so what did I really expect???) Anyway, I did like their house BBQ sauce mixed with a little of their jalapeno sauce, that was really good on the brisket and pulled pork. The chicken was a touch dry and the baby back ribs were boring. Of course I ate it all anyway, because it's meat, and I was starving, but I've had better. At least the prices were good so I wasn't upset or anything. I don't know Jackson at all, so I don't know if there are any other places to get BBQ, but I'd be interested in trying something else on a subsequent visit.

I would seriously just come to this restaurant for the BBQ Baked Beans - BEST BAKED BEANS I'VE EVER HAD!
I came here with my family on a trip to Yellowstone. When we got there at 7:30pm, there were so many people in line that we couldn't get a table for 30 minutes. The servers are super friendly and once you get seated, the food comes pretty quickly.
The best deal is probably what my brother got - spare ribs (awesome sauce but the meat is kinda tough and overcooked), beef brisket, and pulled pork. Each entree comes with a choice of 2 sides (SERIOUSLY, pick the baked beans!) and a huge piece of garlic toast, which is delicious.
I got the baby back ribs, which were also super delicious.
Awesome BBQ joint! Too bad it's all the way in Wyoming and I'm from California :( -

So, we were on vacation near Jackson Hole and we were really hungry. I hadn't had BBQ in a while and decided to give it a shot.
The restaurant had a nice cabin-like atmosphere, and the food was o.k.
My brisket was good but dry, as was the chicken. Texas toast had virtually no flavor, coleslaw was soggy. The fries were very good despite this and the salad bar was awesome. -

Food was just ok
Spare ribs - was good the best thing that we ate
Baby back ribs - good but wish it was more tender. Couldn't rip it with my bare hands
BBQ chicken - good nothing special
Brisket - NOOO GOOD very tough, over cooked
also FYI onion rings as one of your sides is extra.
sauce was good - sauce at the table is Noo good its not the same
Service was HORRIBLE!!!
1. Wait staff was just not there - no waiting on us. Ordered a drink but they forgot about the drink so i asked when the food came. Asked other waiters and they seemed so annoyed asking them (not sure they were annoyed at us or at our server)
2. Bill - Salad-ordered two salads as part of the meal (3.99) and they said that since we were sharing (5 of us 4 meals) that they had to charge us the full salad (7.99). i went up all the way up to the manager and they said that they would only reduce 1 of the 2 salads. if they told us from the beginning that they would charge us a full salad we would of thought twice. Soda - she charged an extra soda. -

We stopped in here with a very hungry 2 yr old. The food came quickly and we were all pleased. My son liked his chicken fingers and the huge piece of bread that came with it. I had the pulled pork platter with coleslaw and their specialty beans. Pulled pork was flavorful and juicy.
My big complaint...No changing tables in the restrooms. This is a very family friendly place yet there is no changing table in the restroom. The counter is large enough to change a child, but does anyone want to be washing their hand where someone just changed a dirty diaper? Plus the counter was very wet from water splashing out of the sinks. I had to use a bunch of paper towels to dry it before changing my son and his head was still wet with soap and water when I picked him up. -

The brisket was tender and had a great sauce. The beans were tasty and the potato salad was excellent.
We did takeout and called ahead and everything was ready on time as expected. Even on a Monday, there was a big crowd when we got there, so it must be a popular place with the tourists and locals. -

Hand's down the best BBQ in Wyoming. There are two Bubba's, one in Jackson and one in Cody... the Jackson location edges out the win. I haven't had anything here I didn't like, but my favorite would have to be the BBQ chicken.
Regardless of what you order, make sure you get their "Rib Sauce" on the side!
They're always busy, and it's a little on the noisy side, but it's SO worth it. -

Bubba's Bar-B-Que has breakfast deals that are so good, we ended up eating there twice in 4 days!
The first day I got a half order of biscuits and gravy which also came with hashbrowns... The plate that came out was massive, it was only one biscuit split in half but it was a very large biscuit. I found the gravy a little on the bland side, nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix though.
On our last day in Jackson we decided to spot in Bubba's again on our way out of town. This time I copied the other people in my party and got an omelet, specifically the ham and cheese with mushrooms added. It came with hashbrowns and toast. It was a great choice, my omelet was stuffed with ham and mushrooms and my hashbrowns were cooked perfectly.
The best part of Bubba's for breakfast is the price. Breakfast for 4 people, with coffee, was right around $30. With such affordable prices, I will certainly stop back in for dinner if I am ever back in Jackson. -

Stopped for lunch, place had good yelp reviews. What did I miss?????, lunch for 2 Full Rack of Baby back Ribs and Beef Brisket. The service was good, the place very clean. Food arrived very disappointed, Ribs were dry-ed out and then over loaded with sauce, beef brisket was worse. Chopped up in small cubes and sauced to hell could have been BBQ soup. Was it left over from the day before, reheated and sauced???.
The worst experience in our 12 days in Jackson Hole!! -
Review from Dan G.
I badly wanted some BBQ before we left Cowboy country and Bubba's sounded like the perfect place.
It's a simple little restaurant that was pretty busy when we dropped in. It's a seat yourself, pay at the register kind of place. I don't know if it was city employee discount day, but it seemed to be the popular place in town. EMS, Fire and Rescue and the Wyoming Staties were all chowing down on the salad bar and que. I got a kick thinking about how busy they'd be dealing with the snowpocolypse back home in Chicago.
Our server dropped by with fresh baked chocolate chocolate chip cookies (yes please, thank you) and took our order. The SRB Lagers arrived shortly before our bbq. Turkey sandwich for the lady and pulled pork for me. The bbq had a nice smoke ring and the beans were great with some bbq mixed in it. I could have gone for a bigger portion and the sweet bbq sauce fell flat for me and badly needed a kick that the Cholula somewhat rectified.
All said, pretty average bbq and weak sauce.Listed in: Cowboy up for The Big Ones

There are certain expectations when a restaurant has the word "Bar-B-Que" in its name. Even more so when you're out west (or midwest - depending on where you would place Wyoming). That being said... what the hell was that you gave me on a plate?
The steak was probably the worst cut of meat I've seen in a very long time. Skinny, over-coooked, tough and inedible. The brisket was drowning in sauce, but had very little going for it overall. The pulled pork was stringy and tough, with a bad sauce, and the ribs (MY RIBS) were chewy and required a lot of gnawing to separate the meat from the bone. The portion sizes were small (I got two small ribs, the steaks were thin, tiny pieces of ****) and while the brisket and pulled pork portions were normal, it was left unfinished for obvious reasons.
The corn on the cob (about 1/3rd of an ear of corn) was edible, if soggy as though it's been defrosted or over-cooked in a microwave. it did come nested in a bowl of liquid butter, which made my eyes pop and my thighs cry. The BBQ baked beans weren't really my kind of thing, but they weren't bad, for what they were suppose to be.
The two good things were:
1) the sauce that came with my ribs was pretty decent (no, they did not use that same sauce for either the brisket or pulled pork - or at least it didn't taste the same). There wasn't enough sauce to add moisture to the ribs, but I made sure to have not leave any sauce on the plate; and
2) our server was friendly.

Bubba's, you broke my heart! My experience with you during my first two trips to Jackson was nothing short of incredible. In fact, you were one of the top reasons for me to look forward to coming to town! Then I come to present day Bubba's and can only ask... WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?!?!?!
Bubba's moved across the street into a pancake house like structure and their food went completely down hill! The brisket is now flavorless and drenched in sauce (what happened to the smokey goodnes?). I also got myself a pork chop lunch special (HUGE mistake). The chop was about 1/4 fat, 1/4 bone, and the rest didn't even taste like pork chop! If I were to close my eyes, I could've sworn I was gnawing on a fatty piece of ham steak!
With tears in my eyes and an emptiness in my soul... I say farewell Bubba's of old. I'll miss you my friend. Oh BTW, like the other guys said, the salad bar is uncharacteristically good for a BBQ joint. It's definitely better than anything else on the menu.Listed in: Downgraded!!! :*(

Ok my first time to Bubb's I did not know what all the rave was. They were still in their old location and I was not that impressed with there BBQ.
The new location is across the street and much bigger.
Still appears to be a long wait at times, as there was a long line when we left at 8 pm. We got lucky and got in right at about 7:15.
Got the BBQ combo, ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. WOW!! really really good. Corn and roasted potato side. Both good.
Texas toast was good as well. Nothing much else to say!
Even with my past poor experience I had to give it five stars for a great meal this time. -

Honestly, I was disappointed by this place. The food wasn't very... warm. The pulled pork had a clear greasy water that lined the bottom of the plate to the point where the bar b que sauce kind of bled into it. I've eaten at plenty of bar b que places in several different states, and I've never seen... watery pulled pork. Not sure why that would happen, but it was kind of gross and I wanted to mention it.
Also, the staff was sweeping the floor under our table while we were eating which is gross- especially since it was 3 PM, not 2 AM. Wait till the section is empty, ok? -

Hoaky Roadside BBQ Haunt
I loved the name and really really really wanted to like the place but unfortunately the seats were uncomfortable, the ribs were pretty fatty, and the baked beans just did not hit the spot. Cole slaw was flavorless and made me miss my favorite NYC BBQ haunts. Gosh I'm hungry right now... time to order room service.
Let's just say this place is inexpensive and if you go in with lower expectations you will probably enjoy it. Salad bar looked good.
I really wanted to like Bubba's I did. It's decent... but I've definitely experienced better.

Review from Paul C.
I just don't get this place. Its best features are that it isn't too expensive and has large portions of meaty stuff. On the other hand, you sit on picnic benches and are moved in and out as fast as they can load your plate.
The food wasn't that great. We had the pulled pork sandwich and the "famous" spare ribs - the truth is that we make them both better at home. The corn was awful - what, is it frozen? During summer? The beans were good, but you can buy good canned beans. I had a cup of coffee (see my reason below) - old school mug with a very good drip - that assured two stars.
My reason for coffee? They do not serve beer here. A rib place with no beer? WTF? They have great beer in this town. I've had four that are as good as most NorCal microbrews - and I full-on fell in love with Moose Drool. What better thing to wash down meat than beer? Isn't there a law somewhere? I just don't get it. I saw one guy bringing in his own - which I saw was the "Jackson Hole thing to do" at Teton Thai. (BTW - I liked TT very much.) I didn't see the guy at Bubba's drinking inside but he had a sixer of Fat Tire with one open while waiting for a table. I assume he brought the six for further drinkage within.
Our waitress was hustling a little too fast the whole time; she hit our table four times, about five seconds on average. Our check was ready before we were, set aside where we didn't see it, but then she whipped it out as soon as we said "finished". She wasn't bad, but she may have been snorting meth to keep up that pace.
So, for a very quickly served large meal of decent meat-based food without beer this would be a good place. It is also very family friendly. If you want something interesting, thoughtfully prepared, relaxing, or with a beer then forget it. -

Bubba's Jalapeno BBQ Sauce makes everything so damn good!
Seriously... Throw some of Bubba's Jalapeno BBQ Sauce on your burger (why I ordered one, I'm not sure, but I thought it would be good in Wyoming, I wasn't right), and it makes the thing so damn delicious!!!
Order a Pepsi (or whatever your non-alcoholic beverage of choice may be), and you'll get it served up in a slick lil bbq jar container like glass (I'm pretty sure it was washed before it was served), the only thing missing was the lid =P -

You know what they say, "Good, fast and cheap -- choose two." Well, in Jackson, cheap is never an option. This place does it pretty good and pretty fast.
p.s. Actually, on second thought, their prices are normal for a BBQ restaurant. $13 & some change for a plate of beef spare ribs with 3 sides. -

Had dinner here with some friends while staying in Jackson Hole. I had the half rack baby back ribs. It was alright, not the best I've had. They didn't have an option for steamed veggies so I chose corn on the cob and new potatoes. I hate corn on the cob that's not fresh and this was one of those, tasteless but drowned in watery butter, yuck. The potatoes were fine. Love their cheese toast though. My friend's BBQ chicken was undercooked (still pink meat!) so beware.
Our waitress seemed to have an attitude while the waitress at the next table was super nice (we witnessed how she dealt with the people next to us).
When I went to the cashier to break a $20 bill, she shorted me and only gave me back $19.
I expected way better but was kind of disappointed. -

At first, Bubba's seemed very promising. Their casual atmosphere was just what I was in the mood for.
I ordered the bbq chicken with corn on the cob and french fries. Not totally bad, but the fries tasted a bit stale and the chicken was difficult to eat - because the actual amount of chicken was not much I kept biting into bones and cartilage. The best part was the corn on the cob.
The real downer was the catfish my husband ordered. It was AWFUL...I mean the worst fried fish I've ever seen or had, and I don't even know how you mess up frying fish. It was overly fried, the breading was not flavorful at all, and the catfish seemed like the poorest quality whitefish chunks you can buy at the freezer section of markets.
This meal was so bad that my husband actually did not eat it and ordered a pulled bbq sandwich instead (which was much better - 3 stars).
What annoyed us the most about this restaurant is our server didn't even ask why we were ordering a 3rd entree after getting our food or why we barely touched the catfish entree. Usually you would assume someone would at least acknowledge that the food was not up to par, but we got nothing from this server.
When we went to pay, my husband told the hostess that the catfish sucked and should be taken off the menu. The funniest part was that she said so many people have complained about the catfish that it was at the top of a list they had in the kitchen of items to eliminate. Would have been nice to know beforehand!
The pork and chicken are ok so I think it's safe to let go of the fish Bubba's. -

I love Bubba's! avoid the town square and head west!
Between the pulled pork sandwich, ribs, pork chops, brisket, fish sandwich, prime rib steak, chicken wings, chili, fries, onion rings, baked beans, the only thing i have to complain about is their potato salad. If you can stay away from the potato salad you'll be doing fine.
Also their portions are quite generous, not to mention their daily special. Thursday they gave us some free peanut butter cookies, (why did it have to be peanut butter cookies?!?! don't they know i'm allergic to peanuts?!!! I don't feel comfortable puking in new places), and had 30 cent wings. Friday night they had a special of prime rib for 16$ which might not have been medium rare to order, but i don't expect perfection for 16$.
Oh! and the buttermilk pie! daaaaamn gooooood. we got a free piece for a friend's birthday, and had to order another one the next night. Also our super friendly waitress gave us a free bag of cookies for the road. -

Best "greasy spoon" breakfast in town! Order the "working folks" weekdays if you're on a budget and hungry $5 bucks w/coffee... the biscuit is massive!
Update:
I had to take away a couple stars because of the new and unimproved Bubbas because:
1.Their sausage patty now sucks and I wouldn't order again.
2.Their bacon rocked andf now it's average at best.
3.Their coffee still sucks
Q.What 's a breakfast plce without tasty sausage or bacon?

Seriously. What the hell is going on here? This place has been around for ages and every time I come out to JH my family and I ask ourselves why? This places is awful. Eighth level of hell awful. The food is absolutely terrible. Bubba's does to bbq what taco hell does to Mexican Food.
The ribs are unevenly cooked, the pulled pork and brisket is over cooked to the point of mush. The "garlic toast" has as much actual garlic as vampire's feast (none). Chemical laced garlic salt, yes. The kids mac'n'cheese is straight out the box, the blue one. The potato salad is bland, stale, and an absolute assault on the palate. The baked beans, avoid. You could 1000 x's better by opening and heating a can of Bush's.
If you have ever been to or even heard of any actual bbq restaurant from either Texas, North Carolina, Memphis, Kansas City, Kentucky, Nebraska, Colorado, or New York City you have either experienced or know of better. Don't go here.
Yeah, they own the building and they're not going anywhere. Just don't go in. Please. Wake up America!!! -

After traveling around this part of the country, you learn appreciate that good food is hard to come by. Correction, that reasonably-priced good food is hard to come by. There's plenty of good food in Jackson, but unless you're flying in from CA or MA and can spend a lot without thinking twice, most of it is pretty expensive.
Bubba's has one of the greatest salad bars I've been to in a long time. The brisket was delicious. The rest of my group had pulled pork sandwiches, which were also fantastic. Service was excellent. The wait for a table was a little long, but that's true about everywhere in Jackson.
There's not a lot of "experience" here - it feels like a chain and is a chain (we went to the one in Cody which was fine, but not as good). So if you want to sit on the town square and soak in the Jackson ambiance, this is not the place for you.
Very kid friendly. Don't get your sandwiches on Texas toast - bread won't last 3 min. -

After a long, tiring day of hiking in Teton National Park, my family and I were starving and just wanted a place where we could eat some good food and relax. We were indecisive and crabby, and after checking out at least a half dozen other restaurants in the area, finally gave up and went to Bubba's.
It was busy but we only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. We noted the salad bar on our way to be seated, and several of my cranky family members perked up a bit. The 5 of us were seated in a cramped booth (don't come here expecting comfort or atmosphere) but our waitress was friendly and attentive despite the restaurant being busy. I'm not sure she was "best waitress in Jackson Hole" or whatever the sign by the cashier says ... but whatever. We ordered, and several of us got the salad bar (and extra $3.75 or so if you order an entree). It took a while for the actual entrees to arrive, when they did they were ok - among us we had the pulled pork sandwich, child's chicken fingers, and Roasted chicken. There's a lot of food, but nothing was as good as expected, it was just ok. On the plus side, they have Diet Dr Pepper. They get an extra star just for that.
Overall Bubba's was just ok - nothing exeptional, but not bad either. I wouldn't make a point of going back, but also wouldn't avoid it. It just left me feeling kinda ... well... neutral.
On our way out we had to fight through the crowds of other bitchy, crabby people to get out, and then fight through the cramped, tiny parking lot to head back to our hotel where we got a good nights sleep on a full stomach. -

Every time I drove by the place last week it was packed. You'll often find a short wait if you go during busy times. Just walk in the front door and sign yourself in on the waiting list. They'll call you when your table is ready.
I got the pork/ribs/beef platter with two sides for about $13. The meat and sides were all good so I'd definitely go back. They have a spicy bbq sauce that is VERY good! The beef was very tender, almost like pot roast. Both the ribs and pork were good too. For the food and the value, it's a good place to check out if you are in Jackson. -

When you visit Jackson there are a few places that people mention over and over. At the top of that list is Bubba's. We finally made it on our last night of vacation and were so glad. Now if you are from North Carolina I dont want to hear any comparisons -- this is a Wyoming mountain town.
Come for large portions, delicious food and to save your wallet after expensive days with outfitters of on the mtn. -

First time at this establishment and it was wonderful! Great food and friendly service. Portions were more than generous and the salad bar had lots to choose from. You can't go wrong with this one!!
