If you're in SF, you have to go here.
The food is delicious.
You need to see the movie first and then you feel like you're in Disneyland. It's all so clever and humorous. It's hip. It's fun! I always come here when I'm in the city. Also the waiters act like they get paid 50 bucks an hour because they are so much fun.
I really don't like how long the wait is, but it's a popular place, so that happens. It's also REALLY loud. And it's a tad expensive
Otherwise the best. -

I came here today with my bby t-rex because it was a million degrees in San Jose and oh man!! it's good food! Albeit pricey, it's worth it.. Great service, accommodating, and they gave us a window seat I requested for:)
We had the mahi and it's cream creole sauce was great, the fish itself was a tad bit dry but it was acceptable. The other plate was the stuffed trout, idk how they cook their rice but it has the texture of instant rice which wasn't very good. the stuffed trout was amazing! I was wishing she would spontaneously have allergic reactions and I'd be forced to eat her food!! Lol! Jk:) but you guys get the point!
Tip: late lunch or early dinner is yr best bet, so make a daycation out ov it.. Yr already in sf so slow it down and enjoy what this odd city has to offer (^_~)¡!
Happy Eating! -

Tourist attraction!
Everything is crazy expensive! I don't mind pay 30 bucks for a dish, if it was good! But Bubba is very disappointing! BF and I came here after our date around fisherman's wharf. I thought why not, it cant be that bad right? WRONG!! it took a while to get seated. and the waitress was a little pushy. she kept asking us if we were ready, when we were clearly still studying the menu... i think she asked us almost 4-5 times -.- within like 20 minutes. LEAVE ME ALONE!!! let me read the god dang menu!
So we had the salmon with cream butter sauce, the bucket of shrimp thing, and fish and chips, and two cocktails.
the Salmon was actually decent, but too bad its a portion for a 5 year old. It didnt even look like the chef made an effort to present his food nicely. He just sort of dumped the salmon on, slapped some rice on the plate. and poured the sauce on. Sigh, if I'm paying 20 bucks for this, at least pretend you care!!
the bucket of shrimp - crazy expensive too, the sauce wasnt too bad, but greasy! and for the price we paid, we didnt get enough shrimp. next time.. boiling crab it is!!
Fish and chips - there were like 4 pieces of fish... not cooked to perfection.. and like 10 pieces of fries in which 5 were burnt (I'm exaggerating a bit, but it totally felt like 10 fries....)
the two cocktails were weak! they tasted like juice.. very very disappointing.
to wrap it all up, super expensive, overrrrlllyyy "attentive" service, small portions, decent flavor
I will definitely not be returning. I guess it's my fault for going to such a tourist place... sigh =[ so sad -

OMG!!!! I haven't been to a "Bubba Gumps" in years and after yesterday's experience I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! It wasn't so much that the place was crowded & crazy-hey it was a Saturday afternoon at Pier 39-totally expected that! But what I didn't expect was for the food to be as bad as it was!!! Lobster/shrimp bisque...watery & chalky! French fries...hard! Fish strips...tiny & tasteless! They clearly do not care about the quality & taste of their food!! If you must go because its the "tourist" thing to do...I say visit the gift shop, take a photo wearing the big Forrest Gump shoes, but eat someplace else or you'll be sorry!!!

This place's 3 star overall rating fits it perfectly... I'll break this review down as follows... They get this many stars (per each dept)....
- SERVICE (From start to end) = 5 stars
- ATMOSPHERE (Cleanliness, decor) = 3 stars
- FOOD (Taste, quality, freshsness, presentation) = 4 stars
- OVERALL "LIKEABILITY" = 2.5 stars
- PRICES (Considering all above) = 2.5 stars
Definitely a crowded tourist spot that goes a little overboard on Forrest Gump trivia, but worth checking out once in your life, I'd say. Fun for the One visit.... -

This was my first time eating at Bubba Gump, and it was a fun experience! I'm a big seafood person so this was place was worth trying. I thought the food was really good. I had the shrimp po' boy sandwich, and I guess this was also my first time having a sandwich stuffed with popcorn shrimp. Soo good!
I also really enjoyed the entire atmosphere of the restaurant. You really do feel attached to the "Forrest Gump" environment, and this adds a lot of creativity to the restaurant itself. There was basically everything and anything related to the film "Forrest Gump," and boy.. have I watched this film so many times! My friends and I even got quizzed by our server about the film, and I liked that there was this fun interaction while we were waiting on the food.
Some little problems I had were the price of the food, the worth of what you paid for, and the crowded seating. Again, the food was good, but it's still a little overpriced, especially for the amount given. And this place is just packed with large parties of people. But overall, Bubba Gump was a fun and different experience as compared to your everyday restaurant because of its "Forrest Gump"-themed food and ambiance. -

Yes it is overpriced, but what sit down place in Pier 39 isn't??? Good food, good service (in the bar area). We found a seat at the bar within a minute over waiting 45 minutes for a table so that was a plus.

One star for view and one star for service. Food was way overpriced (no kids menu) and not great. We could have gone to Outback cheaper. I realize we were paying for the Bubba Gump name and the view, but we could have jumped on a tour bus for that price.

We came here on an early Saturday evening around 5ish. There was no wait and we got seated within 5 minutes. It took quite a while for any waiter to acknowledge our table. I even used to "Stop sign" at our table to get someone's attention. A waiter stopped, we asked for water and a waiter- he said ok and kept walking. No water, no waiter for another 10 minutes. Finally a waitress came up to us and asked if we'd been helped. We told her no and we were ready to order. She was nice.
Food came out pretty quickly. I ordered a BBQ cheeseburger with stringy onions since I don't eat seafood. It was good, but could have used more BBQ sauce.
Pricing is kinda high since it's in the middle of a tourist trap (Pier 39). But we were hungry and wanted food. -
Review from Daniel A.
I don't know what it is about this place that keeps me coming back every time I am visiting San Francisco. It's almost like a mandatory stop while at Pier 39.
Maybe its the the smile I get every time I think about the movie, or just the memory I have of hanging out here, drinking at the bar with 20 of my friends 5 years ago - whatever it is, it isn't the food.
This is the ultimate tourist destination. If there was a local or a regular that calls this place home, I would be shocked. The food is terrible, greasy, and just not worth eating. The bar is ok, but once again, if you are not a tourist, you shouldn't be here.
I know some of you will tell me the food is ok, and that you like it, but the 3 times I've tried anything, I swore I would never try again...
But hey, life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. -

OVER PRICED!!!! Oh my GOD this place is rediculious I payed $18 bucks for a small plate of french fries and a handfull of deepfried shrimp....LOL really 18 bucks?? that dosent include a salad or soup or even bread just a small portion of fries and a handful of shrimp.....LOL really?? no really?
But hey I can add a small side salad for only 6 dollars LOL LOL LOL really?? no really?? wow My friend tricked me into coming here we where suppose to go to joes crab shack where you actually get a large portion for 20 bucks not a basket of friess lol ........
Needless to say i will NEVER EVER EVER eat at this place again....... Food took so long to get out that our parking meter expired ( i remeber why the city sucks ass so much) so after my 20 dollar fries and my 55 dollar parking ticket i think ill pass on pier 39.................
God Im so stupid for even thinking that we could have an enjoyable time at such a overpriced torriest shit hole........ -

Yum! This place was pretty good!
Came here Christmas eve 2011 with the bf and his bestfriend and her husband for a late lunch, and luckily it wasn't overcrowded! We sat by the window, and the view of Alcatraz was pretty majestic, considering it's a prison cell xD.
I shared an order of the Shrimper's Heaven with my bf. Basically, it's half breaded coconut shrimp, chilly shrimp, fried shrimp, and japanese styled tempura shrimp. It came with three different sauces; Tangy Asian, Cajun Marmalade, and Zesty
Cocktail.
Each kind of shrimp was amazing. Full of flavor in every bite. It also came with fries, which is pretty interesting considering it's meant to be shrimp shrimp shrimp.
The downside? It's enough to feed one hungry person out of two. And for the price of $21? It seems way too overpriced for its portion. Maybe if they added more tempura (i believe you get three pieces only) it'd be worth its price. -

BuBba Gumps is always a very fun place to go to. The Ambience is always quite lovely with the cool things from the movie.
I always enjoy mama blues fried shrimp. SO GOOD.
In Pier 39, it's got such a lovely view of the ocean, you'd think that Forrest was right there.
Run Forrest Run!!!
but Stop Forrest Stop!! for some awesome shrimp at good ol bubba gumps for some fun seafood cuisine -

RUN FORREST RUN!
Even though I was a local, I wanted to be a tourist for the day.
Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmm. Yes, yes yes! It's a must!
No box of chocolates here, but fresh fish they got!
"Christine! Party of 2, party of 2... IT'S SHRIMPn' TIME!!!"
I LOVE how they call out your name with, ".....It's SHRIMPn' TIME!"
Beautiful, sunny (kinda rare in the city during winter/spring) therefore it was CROWDED.
A table for 2 this evening would have been a 30 min wait, but hey! The bar area was open! Waited only 10 mins, table wasn't literally in the bar. Table was tall for my short mom to get up to, but anything to NOT wait for too long.
STOP FORREST STOP! Yes! Got waiter Jose to stop!
- Forget Me Not Blueberry drink was delicious. Yes, this would do since I wasn't allowed an alcoholic beverage.
- BUBBA'S FAR OUT DIP - An artichoke dip. On the greasy end, but it was free!! (If you check into Fisherman's Wharf or Pier 39 you get coupons for activities and restaurants).
RUN FORREST RUN!
STOP FORREST STOP!
- FISH AND CHIPS was huge in portion. Slices of fish were SO FRESH and so soft! Not even oily, it was perfect, once bite and it just slipped into your mouth with a rich fish flavor. Not sure what kind of fish it was. Fries were average. The fish was shining here over the chips.
On to Jenny's Catch!
- SALMON & VEGGIE SKILLET was absolutely tasty! You could taste the garlic that the asparagus was sauteed in. If you're price conscious, as some have said it's pricey $20, but was rich in flavor.
Will come back to try the rest of the menu. -

Ate here last night. I think I'm done trying them. If you like rehearsed service, same ol trivia, and very small portions for very high prices..then this is your place. ITs soo crowded also...you cannot move your chair in or out. No thanks..a typical tourist trap.
Food is good however, just no value -

LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I come out here sometimes with my family when we go out to eat and it's one of my favorites on Pier 39.
It does get really crowded during the week (due to all of the tourists and all) but it's worth the wait.
The food is very good there and I reccommend trying to get a seat by the window because the view is spectacular! I love looking out the window at the ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge while dining and Bubba Gumps is a very fun place to be. I recommend trying out this resturant. -

Fun, Cool, and Upbeat!
This awesome restaurant, (based on the movie Forrest Gump) is a great place for friends and family alike. It's located at pier 39, in the beautiful city of San Francisco.
The prices are what you would expect for a place with a lot of tourists, but you getting more than good food.
You're getting a great experience!
My group sat in a corner farthest from the front door, which had AN AWESOME VIEW! There on one side was the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance, and on the other side was Alcatraz! That with a beautiful sunset... great experience.
The staff gets busy, but it's such a fun environment, you don't mind the little wait.
Our servers were super friendly and very accommodating when it came to splitting the bill. And theres great shopping places there at the pier.
I highly Reccomend this place! -

Fort Gibson, OK
When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 10-20 minutes which it was. What they didn't tell us was that was Part I of our wait. We were then escorted in and told we would have to wait a few more minutes. When we were finally seated, the music was so loud that we literally had to yell at one another. The wait staff was very friendly however.
I ordered the seafood feast which was far from a feast. The fish was limp and the fries were cold. My co-worker ordered the shrimpers heaven which was fairly pricey but appeared to have a lot of shrimp with it but that proved to wrong as one of the shrimp cups was full of dry cabbage and only had a few shrimp.
We won't return. -
Review from Marcus J.
This is my favorite restaurant at Pier 39, in fact, I think it's the only one I have enjoyed. It gets very crowded on weekend nights, so be prepared to wait a while, fortunately there's a lot of stuff to do to kill time.
The service has always been top notch, and I like that they have the run Forrest and stop Forrest signs for servers whenever you need something. So instead of waiting for your server to come back to ask for a refill or anything else, just flip your stop Forrest sign, and any employee will stop and help you out.
The food itself is really good too. I've had crab, shrimp, pasta, and lobster, and I haven't been disappointed one time. Good portions for a fair price.
I also like that you are quizzed on the movie after dinner. I'm not the biggest fan of the movie but I know quite a bit about it, like what kind of shoes Jenny was wearing at their wedding.Listed in: Get My Fat Boy On

Where is Forest?!
I swear I thought there was a Forest Gump there.... Maybe I missed him?
Soooo, my dining experience here... It was ok.
Way too crowded. I had to wait like and hour to get seated, then forever for the waiter then even longer to get my food.
It's not the dollar menu, that's for sure lol i ordered lt. Dan's drunken ship and when I finally got my food well it was really salty. It has way too many spices or something. The mashed potatoes were cold and I just don't know. Definitely not my liking.
I would go back and maybe order something else... -

"Hi Tina,
My name is Lindsay and I'm the Social Media Manager for Landry's Inc., owner of
Bubba Gump. If something happened to your daughter in which we did not honor her
gift card I would like to know about it so we can rectify it. Please have her
contact me at webfeedback@ldry.com.
Sorry again,

This was what was sent to me regarding a $100 gift card to be sent to my daughter. I e-mailed Lindsay numerous times and explained the situation but even at this point, the gift card was never sent. I don't remember the managers name the night of the visit but I still believe that Bubba Gump Shrimp Co should follow thru on promises made by their managers. Tried here my first time, I saw Bubba Gump in Hollywood too and I thought, why not give it a shot~
And I soon regretted......I ordered a bucket of steamed clams and shrimps, to be honest, it tastes nothing special and look boring ......The only good thing suddenly is because the portion is in fact small ......
I think spending $60 for lunch should at least get me and my girlfriend some qualify food experience but I was wrong~
She was so disappointed and dragged me away....lol.... -

YUM!
This place is always packed... No matter what you will probably have a long wait. HINT: Stalk the bar... wait for someone to leave... snag their table. Your wait won't be NEARLY as long and the service is the same.
Anyone who has been here knows what to expect with the service. STOP FORREST STOP, RUN FORREST RUN... no need for further explanation... It saves the waiters from making needless stops to ask if I need a refill.
My fave? Bucket of Boat Trash... yum yum yum!
Although I have had other dishes and it is always good.
I have never been disappointed with the food... EVER.
I have always had nothing but pleasant service, if not OUTSTANDING. I have been coming here for years, whenever I am near the wharf. In fact, when my daughter (who is now 16) was small, the waitress gave her a piggy back ride around the restaurant... lol. I left her a substantial tip... -

We tried this place for the first time after living in the Bay Area for 28 years, and had a fabulous experience! Mikey and I are huge fans of the film Forrest Gump, so the movie trivia, paraphinilia, props, and menu items really made the dining experience extra special (we even bought souvenir drink glasses!). The food was great and the diners surrounding us seemed to be enjoying their meals and dining experience as well. We'll be back :)

Love seafood? Then you've come to the right place! I ordered the 1/4 lb shrimp catcher's net and it was absolutely delicous! Our server Jason was very friendly and attentive. It's a quirky chain theme restaurant in a sea of tourist trap businesses... Really, what do you expect?
For what it is, it hits its mark. Expect to wait in line twice. Once to get your name called, then curiously wait again at the Stop Forrest Stop sign before you get seated. Views are great. Drinks are solid. The food is frankly overpriced and not special. The servers are friendly, even if the friendliness is forced because deep down they hate their lives and wish they could find any job that didn't involve singing the praises of Forrest Gump for seven hours straight.
Your server will come ask you trivia questions about the movie. Be sure you're ready with answers like "Jenny", "Greenbow, Alabama", "Bubba and Lt Dan", "Both legs", "Box of chocolates", "Football and Ping Pong", "Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon", "In the buttocks", and if you are really on a roll, they may try and stump you, so be ready to answer "Number 9". You won't win any prizes. In fact, your server will probably think you're a gigantic loser for having seen the movie enough times to memorize that, and they will call Homeland Security and ask that you be added to the watch lists.
But hey, if you ordered one of the fancy drinks, you get a souvenir glass out of it. So there's that. -

REALLY not impressed with this restaurant!
We made the necessary tourist visit to this place when we were down in SF a few weeks ago. To me, it was way more hype than is necessary.
For 'the city by the bay' the menu was minimal. I understand that it's a shrimp joint, but come up with some creative options will ya?
There were a few things that went wrong:
The waitress spilled a drink (mine....grrr) on my son and didn't even apologize. She kinda chuckled as she sopped it up. Um...okaaaay.
I ordered broiled fish and got fried.
A different waiter brought out the wrong drink and then argued that it wasn't. It's not hard to tell when a vodka and tonic isn't a vodka and tonic.
Needless to say I was happy to leave this location and will not be returning. -
Review from Hang T.
Famous for being mentioned in such a famous movie, but the food sucks.
All the food was blah, blah, blah. Nothing refined, nothing special, everything bland.
The best thing about this place is that they have immediate service. You flip over that license plate to red and you get service right away, no matter who your server is.
We had the Pear & Berry salad. It was drenched in super sweet sauce that was way too fruity for my own taste. I usually love fruity dressings, but this was way too much. This salad was pretty dull too. Too much lettuce, less of everything else.
We ordered the Shrimper's Net Catch. Basically a bucket of shrimp cooked with beer. Flavorless. I did not like. I have satisfied my curiosity with Bubba Gump. Next time I will just watch the movie at home and make my own seafood. -

Sergeant: Gump! What's your sole purpose in this army?
Forrest: To do whatever you tell me, drill sergeant!
Sergeant: God damn it, Gump, you're a goddamn genius. That's the most outstanding answer I've ever heard
I loved that movie, It's one of my favorite movie of all time!!!
The moment we walked in to the time we left we had an amazing time! There was a small wait to get seated. But that was fine, cause we checked out the menu they had posted outside.
We were seated next to the window, so we had a nice view. It's been a couple of weeks so I forgot what I ordered..it was some kind of fish dish and it was delicious! They also had brown rice, I order a side of that too! I got one of the frozen lemonade in a flashing cup that we get to keep. Yeah I 'm a tourist! I get to take a souvenir home! Yay !!
The servers really extremely friendly an nice! The place is loud, so beware! The table next to us were asked questions at the end of their meal. I was secretly listening for the answers. Although I said its one of my favorite movies, it's been too long! I would have failed miserably. Overall good experience! -

Every time I have family come in from Alaska, they request to come here.
I think its overpriced for the food, however you also pay for the location .
Bubba Gumps is at Pier 39 ,surrounded with shopping, tourist attractions, seafood, a merry go round and sport shops. The restaurant sits on top of the water overlooking the SF bay. But if I wanted to look at the water, I would have rather purchased a $3.75 hot dog from the hot dog stand and a chocolate covered frozen banana with peanuts for $5.50 and ate it at the bench out side the pier. -
Review from Rey Q.
This is my 3rd Bubba in 3 different cities. Same quality when it comes to food and the service is always great. I like the fact that the wait time was only 5 minutes, but this makes me wonder if there are better shrimp places at the Fisherman's Wharf that I probably missed. My very minor complaints are that the shrimps are undernourished and the blue lemon-up was actually green.

My family and I went here for the first time on a busy Saturday afternoon. They were busy, but the wait was only 10-15 minutes. However there "waiting period" was a bit confusing. You give them your name and number of party and wait for them to call you (like any restaurant), but once they call your name you walk up to the ramp and wait again for your table. I guess I thought it was a bit confusing because we never been here, but we will know what to do the next time we come back.
Once we were seated our waiter (forgot his name) acknowledged us right away even if they were really busy. He was super friendly and very welcoming. Since it was our first time there we didn't know what to order, but he had great recommendations! He made this visit quite nice and the food was pretty decent. For 4 people it was about $90. Be prepared for a "Forrest Gump" quiz before you leave. We watched the movie more than 100 times so we did awesome! Lol! -

I'm surprised this place got 2/3 star reviews!
I thought this place was great! Me and my friend came here for dinner today and we ordered a large amount of food.
I ordered two appetizers: the bucket of shrimp which was boiling crab style, and the shrimp mac and cheese. Both were really good! The mac and cheese was very flavorful and creamy, I loved it! It had a perfect kick to it :] And not only that, the bucket of shrimp was delicious too! I like peeling the shrimp and sucking all the flavor off the shell :] so yummy!
This was a great place! Sure, it's pretty pricey (in total mine was about $25) but what do you expect from a tourist zone?
