Due to the last experience, we got invited to dine again at Bubba Gump by the general manager and we went tonight at 7pm. We got to meet the general manager tonight. He was very sincere and courteous. This time we ordered:
1) Virgin Lava Flow
2) Steamed Mussels and Clams
3) BBQ Ribs
4) Shrimp New Orleans
5) Bread Pudding
The virgin lava flow was awesome. It tasted very good, especially good when I had Shrimp New Orleans as my entree, because the entree was cajun spicy, so it's nice to have the cold lava flow at the side and cool me down, making the lava flow even more tasty when eating the spicy entree at the same time.
The Steamed Mussels and Clams is always our favorite. We've tried it before and always get it every time we crave for shellfish. It's still awesome this time.
The Shrimp New Orleans was really really good! It reminds me of New Orleans. Though the rice is jasmine rice instead of mid or short grain rice, the sauce is just so good that even jasmine rice would do well with it. The shrimps were made so well, I finished the whole dish by myself without anything left.
My husband enjoyed the BBQ Ribs a lot. The meat is moist and soft, fall-off-the-bone kind. The marination was good too. They serve full rack only, so it's a big portion. it came with fries and cole slaw. My husband finished the whole thing with a happy tummy.
The Bread Pudding stuffed us up at the end. It's a good ending. We are happy that we got to be able to try Bread Pudding finally this time, as we couldn't order it last time. And we got to leave with full stomachs this time.
The Shrimp New Orleans was the highlight tonight. I would recommend it to everyone unless you are allergic to shrimps. Our server was very courteous and sincere. Service was good tonight. The general manager was very nice, too.
From this experience, we get to know that Landry's (the owner of Bubba Gump) is really serious in improvements, providing good service and doing good business. I was actually surprised (a good surprise) when Landry's contacted me and the general manager called me. We are impressed by Landry's attitude and ethics. We already planned to try other restaurants that are under Landry's when visiting the continental in the future.
"Hit & Miss" happens when we dine out, and we are happy that Landry's is willing to listen to customers' feedback when "miss" happens, and they improve upon it. This makes us feel confident in re-visiting Bubba Gump and also trying other Landry's restaurants in the future.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Negligent hiring. Don't be surprised if you get pink eye.
I went to the 'Jennys' room, aka the ladies restroom. Seriously the most disgusting thing happened... The employee Jeanne (sp?) used the restroom and walked next to me at the sinks to (most likely) wash her hands. It is afterall, the law for all employees to wash their hands after using the restroom, right? Well, Jeanne must have decided to rebel. Jeanne decided to blatantly disregard personal hygiene, dignity, self-respect, respect for others, sanitation and cleanliness.
Jeanne turned on the water and put her fingers under the running water for literally LESS THAN A SECOND. I wish to some higher power that I was exaggerating. I'm not. Jeanne didn't use soap. Believe me, there was plenty, I used soap myself.
This is an experience I will remember whenever I think about dining out. Never will I step foot in a bubba gump again. And believe, everyone I know will hear of this!
Didn't want to give any stars, but yelp wouldn't allow me to continue without putting at least one star... -

I am allergic to shrimp and yet somehow I'm the Duchess of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. That's how much I love me some shrimp, I'm literally willing to bet my life on it! (But I do carry a Benadryl with me on my shrimp eating adventures just in case)
Bubba Gump's has this really awesome strategy that Brazillian Churriguera's also employ. There's a sign on the table that says "STOP FORREST STOP" and you flip it to this side if you want something from your server (or any server) and a "GO FORREST GO" side if you don't need anything. For me I love this because trying to get a server's attention during busy hours would otherwise be impossible!
So I eat shrimp when I'm here. Anykind of shrimp dish but usually we get the peel and eat shrimp (large size) as an appetizer, then I'll get either the shrimp skewers, the Bucket O' Trash, or the shrimper's heaven! If I'm feeling gluttonous (and honestly when am I not?) I'll also order the skillet cookie for dessert!
I am now seriously hankering for some of this. I think another diet breaking visit is in order. Darn you Yelp! Before I discovered you I was skinny & rich! (well skinny-er and rich-er..to a very small degree)
I'm not going to claim that this will be the best meal of your life but if you're at Ala Moana (or nearby ish) this is a solid option for shrimp lovers. If you (or someone you know) doesn't "do" seafood (first of all, why would you hang out with such people?!) they also have a pretty bomb-azz fried chicken. Or so I'm told by those "friends" (soon to be ex! lol) who don't eat seafood.
I also HIGHLY recommend this place for large groups because they are so used to it and do a really good job at managing large parties. (Split checks, multiple people bringing drinks/food, lots of attention to service!) -

First time here.. Host informs us for a party of 4 and one child is only 5 min.. Sweeeet!! We sit on the benches in front of her stand and wait. 5 minutes later. nothing.. 10 minutes later we ask her how much longer then she tells us to go stand by the other host stand and they'll walk us to our table (she probably should have told us that when we first inquired). Anways finally sit look over our menu for a few minutes. We see our Waiter is helping another table, we keep looking around. We even managed to teach ourselves how to use the STOP FORREST sign.. nothing. then just when we were almost dehydrated she takes our drink order. Another few minutes past and we get our 3 waters and 1 iced tea. Which was supposed to be without ice but we'll have to overlook that for now seeing how we want our order to go in already.. we got..
1. of course we have shrimp scampi
2. pesto pasta (deliciousssss!! creamy and nutty. a must try!)
3. bucket of mixed Cajun and garlic shrimp (really quite yummy. Cajun has perfect hint of spice..
4. Texas chicken burger with guacamole and bacon (chicken is dry and bacon was over cooked)
overall food was a 4. over priced and under portioned and service was probably a 1. our water glasses went empty twice in our 1 hour dinner and she forgot to bring us a dessert menu after we specifically asked.
All in all your probably better at another restaurant.. -

My boyfriend's parents are from the MidWest and love any restaurant that batters and fries their menu, so we appeased them with this selection for Thursday night dinner.
I ordered the Kentucky Bourbon BBQ Shrimp and Andouille Skewers, Shrimp Hush Puppies and a CoronitaRita. My favorite part was the KY Bourbon BBQ sauce and the CoronitaRita, but I swear I'm not an alcoholic.
Decor is based on Forrest Gump Americana, service was meager (I hate when I can't make substitutions), and prices were reasonable. Meh, for sure. -

Thanks to the overturned semi full of hot asphalt, my mom and I decided to have dinner in town to avoid the traffic mess.
My mom chose BG and I felt like trying something different so off we go. We were promptly seated and then quickly ignore. I thought the Stop Forrest sign was intended to use after you knew who your server was. After waiting patiently for about 15 minutes. A woman not in casual BG attire stopped at our table and asked if we had been helped. We both yelped NO. She goes, OH, is this your first time here? Uh, no. Oh, so you know about the signs? My mom and I look at each other dumbfounded. We knew about the signs but didn't know it was necessary to use as soon as you SIT DOWN. Ummm. ok whatever.
She brings us our water promptly and finally a server stops at our table. (Sign still says run forrest run). We order and she explains that NO ONE knew WHO was supposed to serve our table thus the delay. OK, not the best thing to tell a customer cause it makes us feel like you guys don't know what you're doing. But ok.
I get the accidental fish with shrimp over a bed of jasmine rice. My mom got the scampi. Both dishes were yummy. Cooked perfectly and well seasoned. They were both very lemony and I loved it. The orders were small. For the price, I expected a little bit more.
I then ordered the bread pudding. VERY GOOD. That was a very delish dessert. Not overly sweet and just the right amount of cinnamon and raisins.
Total came out to a little over $50 for the both of us. A little pricey to me, but the food was good. After the little hiccup in the beginning, our server redeemed their name with us.
I'd go there again if there was another traffic cluster fudge. -

I've frequented this particular Bubba Gump ever since around 2006, when my fiancee first moved to Honolulu. I really liked it at first, the shrimp was good, the sauce was special and unique, and the portion were big though it has never been an expensive place. This used to be a must go every time I visited the island.
However, starting about 2 years ago, the food started to get bad. Things that I ordered no longer taste the same. Shrimp New Orleans tasted bland, even though it's suppose to have the strong Southern flavor. That's when I took about a two year break from going to this over-priced place.
Finally, this January I decided to give it a try again. We ordered my favorite Shrimp New Orleans, and the "I'm Stuffed!" Shrimp. We also ordered the Skewer of Shrimp for $5.99 and a drink. I have to say, the taste to the food is back, it did taste good, it was just not a lot of them. For ~$19-$20 entree, I get a scoop of rice + 7 shrimps or so. I am really better off visiting the Shrimp Shreks around the island for just as good food and less than half the cost. The atmosphere is not worth the extra dollars. The drink still tasted bland, as if they mixed in water and ice cube.
So, I think I will take another 2 year hiatus. I miss the old Bubba Gump when the quality and the quantity were superb. Now it's dependent on your luck for the quality, and the quantity is definitely not there. -

This was my first time to Bubba Gump's. I love the atmosphere, I love how it plays off of the movie. The women's bathroom was even themed! The food was good, however, it wasn't anything that made this company unique as an eating place.
I"d go again for the fun and atmosphere, this location especially. Our table opened up into the Maitai's. -

DISCLAIMER: I am allergic to shrimp so don't take this post too seriously.
So yea, I came here with my GF because we were hanging out at the Ala Moana mall. We thought it'd be a nice place to try as we hadn't been there before and my GF loves shrimp. Guess what she ordered - a chicken caesar salad. So whoopity freaken do for me trying to be accommodating.
ANYHOO, I got the cajun chicken sandwich. It was dry inside and the flavor was lacking. I wouldn't recommend it. But you know what I'd recommend - TRY SOME SHRIMP.
I wouldn't come back here as there aren't that many options of food that are shrimp free. But if you do like shrimp, please do check it out and let my GF know how it went for ya. -

I'm not a huge fan of seafood, but my friend loves eating here so I thought I'd give it a try. Glad we did. Tonight was about the fifth time I've been here. We usually get the shrimpin dipin broth. The speckled strawberry lemonade is awesome too! 99 cent refills!
Service is really good too except for the short Asian hostess at the outside booth. I called at 5:30 wanting to put my name on the wait list. They said to call 30 minutes before. The girl who answered said that there was no wait and we don't need to put it on the list. We got there at 6:00 & the line was heading towards Mai Tais.
I was pissed to say the least. I asked the hostess outside if that was the line & before I could finish, she sassily just nodded. She was so nice to certain people, but was a total b*tch to me. I know Bubba Gumps is big on customer service so if they're reading this, talk the short Asian girl that was standing at the outside booth at around 6:00. I didn't appreciate the attitude! -

Went here with my honey and had the Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi. Gotta say, it was great! So much food that we ended up splitting it and a mud pie dessert. It's fairly short waiting to be seated and to get your actual meal. They have a good variety of signature drinks including my favorite Margarita.
Suggestion: Try to get a table in the back with a view of the ocean/harbor...very soothing! -

I came here for a friends birthday. Funny how all bad places start off this way "I came here because so and so had a so so event...."
1) I hate when people dont put oranges in my blue moon. I wont deduct a point for that, but it tends to end bad when the night starts off this way.
2) I kind of feel like my fried shrimp was cooked in oil that wasn't hot enough. It was kind of soggy
3) Its kind of weird when the waitress-in-training has their "trainer" behind them watching. He was really into the whole interrupting her thing to correct her. Kind of god annoying after awhile.
4) I could not find one thing anyone ordered that I was excited over except the pickles. They were deli style! That made me excited. I should of just ordered a whole thing of pickles and beer. That's 5-star worthy.
Overall though, the food here is bleh. Not "ok" not "average" more like "BLEHHHHH WHY DID WE COME HERE." then you slam your fist and immediately seek a better meal. :) -

I come in here every once in a while for a few drinks and some shrimp. The service is just ok-probably because of the high turnover in staff. This place has a touristy feel and its what I expect in a place like this. The entrees are ok. I ordered ribs(I know what you're thinking, why ribs in a shrimp place?) I love ribs but also order a shrimp sampler. Nothing really bad to say about the food except the shrimp seemed overdone.
The highlight of the meal was the dessert sampler, which I highly recommend. -

Two words: CAJUN SHRIMP. It's on the appetizer menu and it's FANFREAKINGTASTIC. On the spicier side, these little guys come swimming in a skillet of delicious oil with two pieces of buttery garlic bread. My only suggestion to Bubba: make that baby bigger! I want more!
I've tried their spinach dip and wasn't wowed; it needed some salt. Entree-wise, I like the Shrimp Dippin' Broth, which I had ordered on a rainy day -- yumm. And ol' reliable is the Captain Dan's Drunken Shrimp, which come with sausages and herbed mashed potatoes. Neither dishes have disappointed thus far.
I like the service and cheesiness of this place. It's a tourist-like joint and sometimes it feels good to let it all out and be dorky and answer the movie quiz questions. They got a good system going with the RUN FORREST RUN and STOP signs. And if you're into 'em, the lava flows hit the spot. :) -

I've been here a few times and I have to say for a well known establishment their food was OK. There pasta's are way over priced and the appetizers are deceiving in the pictures when it comes to portion size. I would say the only thing that I do enjoy are there drink specials and the decor of the restaurant.

Bubba Gumps is a decent place to eat. A lot of fried food. So if you like fried seafood you've come to the right place. I don't go here often and my memory of the last time i visited this place is a bit of a blur.
THE HIGHLIGHTS:
* Unique drink menu
* Enthusiastic service- nothing completes the Bubba Gump experience without Bubba Gump trivia!
* A nice variety of seafood
* Place is well maintained and kept clean
THE DOWNSIDES:
* Overpriced seafood!
* Decent to small quantities per plate.
I guess its a decent place, considering that its a seafood restaurant, and you cant expect seafood to be cheap, but i honestly believe there's better places to get more bang for the buck. -
Review from Anna K.
I always wondered why we never ate at Bubba Gumps throughout all the years it's been opened at Ala Moana, I now know why ...We made that bad decision to eat here yesterday and it was a $103.00 Fail not including the tip. Day started off with an un named person taking the Likelike to get to Ala Moana, We live in Kailua so dont ask me why the brainiac podagee decided that taking Likelike was a good idea, especially when his wife already told him she was hungry. She's pretty vicious when she's in need of food so the ride there wasnt the funnest lol. Btw it was the same brainiac's idea to eat at Bubba's as well, I take partial responsibility because I agreed to it ,FAIL on my part :(
The Restaurant is Cool looking, made to resemble the movie Forest Gump. It's quirky but cozy and cute. The employee's were friendly and very welcoming from the time we stepped into the place till the time we left. Our servers name was Lynn and he was very laid back and friendly. We ordered the flavored lemonades (Strawberry,Blueberry & Mango) and the far out dip. Lemonades were alright, Interesting but nothing worth paying $5 a piece. The Chips and dip were good, no complaints there. When we finished our appetizer our server Lynn came back to take our order for our entree's. I was pretty clueless on what to order because nothing on the menu was appealing to me. Lynn was very helpful and made suggestions on his favorite's. I ended up going with his suggestion and ordered the Accidental Fish & Shrimp (Broiled Mahi Mahi topped with grilled Shrimp in a Lemon Sauce w/ Roma Tomatoes ). Our food came out about 10 mins later and my dish looked visually appetizing. The Mahi was broiled, dry and bland. The grilled shrimp were a bit over cooked and the lemon sauce was verrryyyyyy lemony. The food was nothing to brag about and given the price per entree so not worth it. My cousin ordered the Shrimp Heaven (Coconut Shrimp, Chilly Shrimp and Japanese style Tempura Shrimp) and the brainiac ordered the Dumb luck coconut shrimp. Both were disappointed with they're food as well. We figured maybe desert would be better..... It wasn't lol.
We ordered the Strawberry shortcake and shared it. They used biscuits to make it and i think they forgot to defrost the biscuits before serving it. The biscuits were like frozen and hard, very dry on top of that. I couldnt eat it, it was depressing. I couldnt wait to leave the place so i could go therapy shop off this horrible meal.
We asked for the check and our server proceeded to tell us jokes lol. Maybe he could tell we werent excited to be there. I must admit his jokes were funny and if I was writing this review based on service ,I would give him and the rest of the employees that we came into contact with 5 stars. Bottom line is that they have a pretty good staff on hand, customer service is great. They need to revamp theyre menu and quality on theyre food. I would not eat here again even if it was free. I mean my cousin paid the bill this time so it was free and it still sucked lol
Good place to buy gift certificates for everyone you hate :) Eating here is worse than getting a lump of coal for christmas lol just sayin. -

Great tourtisty place! If you're a seafood lover like myself, you'll like this place.
My husband and I walked in there during the weekend. There was about a 20 minute wait. Once sat, the menu looked pretty yummy. My husband and I got the shrimper's next catch for appetizer. It was OK, to be honest. Nothing extraordinary. I commented to my husband that you could tell the shrimps were not marinated in the sauce for long because they lacked a little in flavor.
Next up, our entrees. We got the big ol' bucket of crab legs which came with a side of rice for him. Not bad. And we also got the shrimp scampi for me. It came with capers which made the dish tangy, and I really liked that.
Our server, Alex was a doll and made sure we were tended to at all times.
After dinner you can mosey your way out to the souvenir shop where you'll find bubba gump t-shirts, hot sauces, stuffed animals, mugs, whatever have you.
How much did we end up spending? For two iced teas, an appetizer and two entrees. About 60 bucks. Expected for the touristy type of place this is! Will we be coming back? Probably.
Try it for yourselves! -

Came here again last night with a group of 8. The service was horrible, it doesn't look like they are understaffed, but our waters weren't refilled very often and we always had to flag down the waitress whenever we needed something.
The food is just okay. I've tried a couple of the salads and the drunken shrimp. In general the food is very overpriced.Listed in: Good for Groups

I think i'm not quite a fan of Bubba Gump because I don't like my seafood fried.
I must say though that their cajun mahi mahi is pretty good.
And their drink selection is one of my faves. I love sitting at the bar area. Not really a fan of the tables ... they're always sticky when I go there.
For some reason my mom always loves going to their gift shop. First of all, we're not tourists ... so i don't understand why we go there. But she does love her Bubba shirt, so i'm happy for herListed in: I guess no one's perfect

So...this was my first time eating here. And it'll surely be my last~ My friend and I got really hungry after shopping...so we decided to try out Bubba Gump since a lot of people raved about it. Wow, it was pretty busy when we got there... it made us think if there were so many people eating there then the service and food must be great!...I was wrong!
Service sucked and food was too skimpy and over priced. Everything on the menu was basically over priced imo. Not worth it, should have opted for CPK or Macaroni Grill or something...
First dislike : They seated my friend and I to a really small table next to a wall...and half of the table were filled with their dessert menu...a big bucket of paper towel...and other things. So our eating space was soooo small. -_-
Second dislike : There was no AC...but this was my fault for not knowing. The weather was pretty hot..
Third dislike : Service sucked. We only saw our waiter twice during our 30 minute late lunch/ early dinner, which was when she took order and gave us our check. Food came out within 15 minutes.
Fourth dislike : I hate how the shrimps were so small!!! Ordered Lt. Drunken Shrimp. It came with mash potato, grilled shrimp, and this sausage. It was just ok. Nothing special about it. It's crazy for the price of $17...not to mention, the description on the menu said large shrimp lol....what large shrimp????!
Fifth dislike : We ordered the appetizer Best Ever Popcorn Shrimp. More like the worst. Portion were so skimpy. To me, there were more peppers than shrimp. Ehh..
Good thing that's all we ordered. Nothing sounded great on the menu anyways. I regret going in after I saw the prices on the menu...I wanted to walk out. But I didn't want to be rude. But hell with that next time.
I was going to order one of their salad but that was like $9! Just for a basic salad.Wow I'd rather go to Costco and get the $4 Chicken Caesar salad.
Our bill came out to $27 and I paid with $50 and she asked " Do you need change? " ( I saw her glancing at our bill prior to putting it on our table )
Mmk, who the hell would leave $23 tips for this kind of crappy service? Not me lolll~ I am a waitress at a restaurant and I have to admit I give good customer service.
I don't understand why this place is always packed lol...Lucky for them.
I left the place feeling yucky and hungry! My friend went home and went for round 2 haha. -

My name is Gump, Forrest Gump. Hahah! When the movie first came out, it was a hit. Same thing like this restaurant. Still, it's been over ten years and they seem to be doing well.
I recommend the Shrimpin' Dippin' Bucket. It's a huge bucket of shrimp in butter sauce, served with bread and rice. Sooo bad for you, but freakin' delicious. And, considering it's a "seafood" restaurant, they have pretty good hamburgers and chicken/meat dishes too.
Not my first choice when dining in Ala Moana, but not bad either.
I have so much Forrest Gump lines running through my brain now... -
Review from Mike O.
My continuing search for a decent Clam Chowder soup brought us to Bubba Gump last night. The choice was either Kincaids or BG. We unfortunately decided on BG.
We were seated right away, which was good. We had most interior section, with a booth closest to the window (great view). I never knew this place was so big. About 30 seconds after we were seated, a waiter approaches us with two drinks we didnt order. We told him "not ours" (strike 1). Our waitress arrives and asks for our drinks. We ordered. About a minute after that another waiter delivers two orders of food. "not our" his reply "oh really!" (strike 2).
Our real drinks were delivered and orders taken. We ordered clam chowder (of course), steamed clams and fish n chips. Few minutes later, another waiter wants to deliver us more food that isnt ours, really. "NOT F*CK*N OURS!" (Strike 3)
About 10 minutes later our orders were delivered. Food UNSPECTACULAR. Chowder was full of nice clams, potatos and other goodie, but was not creamy and too salty. Steam clams were just ok. I can make it better. Fish n chips also average. Tasted better at a fast food joint like hot dog on a stick.
And of course while we are eating, one final waiter tries to deliver more unordered drinks, SERIOUSLY! Your wait help need to get it F'n together. We barely ate half of our food, got our check and left. This place should really be left to the tourist as that seems to be their market. Never again.
5/30/10 Follow up-
I received an apology message from a manager of Social Media of Landry's Restaurant. It was great to hear follow up from the corporate level. Although BG may not be right for me, I'll definitely try their other restaurants in the future, as I know they care about their customers. -

Reading peoples reviews, you will be surprised to know that Bubba Gump is one of the top grossing restaurants at Ala Moana. Since it serves Mai Tai bar as well, you probably didnt realize you were eating there on your relaxing party nights at Mai Tai.
Its not the best place for shrimp but it does cater to my cravings. I love this Shrimp Broth that they make. Its about 12-15 shrimp in a buttery sauce. Along with a loaf of bread, a bowl of rice and some cole slaw. The thought of dipping my bread into a buttery sauce just made my stomach call out some names. Then again, anything with butter is better.
They have a wide variety of shrimp dishes but its not just shrimp. They have other dishes for those who like chicken. So dont be hesitant on going if you dont like shrimp.
The service is great. You can always stop someone by making forest run! You just flip a sign and someone stops.
I wouldnt give this place a really bad rating but its OK. If you been to New Orleans obviously it would be better. -

Boyfriend loves to eat here, me mehhh not so much just because me and shellfish don't get along too well-- a l l e r g i e s.. but ohhh do I love my fried SHRIMP!! I'll get an itchy mouth & watery eyes to eat those any day!
I like going here because they have a large drink menu with smoothies, lemonades, margaritas, and blended drinks. PLUS! Most of the time it's in a fancy cup that you can take home! Yayyyy(: There is also a Full Bar, with beers on tap.
BF usually gets the Bucket of Boat Trash. Comes with a lobster claw, fish and fried shrimp.
Last time we went I remembered ordering a Caesar Salad, it was alright. Basically, me and the boyfriend devoured the whole thing fighting over the last bites and bitty croutons. Probably not worth the $10.00 because it's about the size of a side Caesar you would get anywhere else, but oh well it's good.
Non-Seafood items that I've also tried include:
Momma's Southern Fried Chicken: One of my favorites because it's #1 Boneless and #2 Fried and Juicy.
I usually order it with a side of gravy to dip and you get it with a corn on the cob, and mash potatoes ***Upgrade to a double stuffed potato SUPER GOOD.
All-American BBQ Burger: Pretty decent, I enjoy whatever BBQ sauce they use. I usually can't finish it all- it's kind of monstrous at first site, but somehow, me and the BF accomplish!
For fish, I remember my boyfriend eating the Mahi Mahi and saying it was pretty good. It came with grilled vegetables and jasmine rice.
Like some reviewers, it's usually not my first choice when dining in Ala Moana, but it's good- just not FANTASTIC.
I kind of don't get it because they share a kitchen with Mai Tais and basically prepare the same food in different variations, but I enjoy Mai Tais food a lot better, haha. Maybe it's a mind trick... -

Awesome.
Love the movie, so I love that this place revolves around it- just a fun experience if you already a fan of the movie. Great food and we got our fried seafood fix out of the way early. Coconut shrimp are to DIE for and a great setting. If you can, sit outside. It has a great view. :) -

Uhhh this place should be ashamed of themselves for putting shrimp onto there name!!!
Came here twice a few years back both with large group of friends, and both times the food was awful!! The shrimp was so tiny and unfresh that I could find bigger fresh shrimps at Safeway for cheaper! I got the cajun shrimp the first time and the flavor was good, but the shrimp was so tiny and so little amount that I was still hungry! And the second visit here I ordered the cob salad and there was so much more lettuce than actual meat and toppings that I had to ask for extra toppings and got charge almost half more of another salad!! After my second chance I gave them I was so unhappy and told everyone I knew how I felt!
Only good thing is the service and they let you keep the cute glass's that comes with certain drinks. -

I wanted to like Bubba Gump's. I loved the movie on which this restaurant was based on and I like the decor and the ambiance. That, I can appreciate. The food however, just isn't quite there. It's expensive and it's oily. After trying several different dishes I can't help but think that all the dishes kind of taste the same. I mean I love my shrimp.. it's just that.. nothing stands out here which is very sad.
The service however, has always been great. They're quick and attentive as long as you remember to flip your sign to let them know you need anything. Otherwise, they'll run right by you.Listed in: Where to eat in Ala Moana

It was the worst $50 I have ever spent. We went back because the last time we were there the experience was pretty good, seemed that the food was pretty good........this time around I was so wrong. The service was good and attentive and my update of the review has nothing to do with he service.
My wife liked her fish and chips, I had some of it and the fish had good texture and moisture. The fries felt like it was sitting under the warmer for a bit. My shrimp variety thing was very blah! the cole slaw was good asked for another one.
The cookie and ice cream dessert was not nearly as good as it used to be. the cookie wasn't even warm but very luke warm.
This is a place that I don't need to visit again.
And no the food isn't cheap.1 Previous Review: Show all »

It's been a while since I wrote a review, but I'm going to try and blast out a few...
Been to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. a few times in the last few months, mainly for BNI meetings during lunch. In my most recent visit, I had the shrimp po' boy. Now this take on a classic new orleans sandwich was totally botched.
(Disclaimer: I've never had a true po' boy from Nawlins, but I know what it should be. Back to the review)
Let me just say that this was not what I had in mind. The bread, which was a french roll, was fresh...so 1 star I guess. Then the sandwich was piled with sliced pickles, tomatoes, slaw (I think), and a whole crap load of popcorn shrimp. First complaint about the sandwich, there are too many ingredients in the sandwich in order to eat it LIKE A SANDWICH! In addition, if you try to eat it with fork and knife, you just don't get the entire flavor profiles in each bite. Secondly, the sandwich was dry. There was no sauce to hold the sandwich together and pull all the ingredients together. I seriously thought about putting ketchup...Overall, the sandwich sucked!
I do appreciate the service in this place, however, it is at lunch when they are not very busy, so the service should be more prompt than usual. I will give the service 1 star...for trying...to be prompt when they should be...
I don't think I would recommend this place. I remember it being better when it first opened eons ago, but sadly the quality just isn't there. -

I wish I got the name of my server today. She was the BEST waitress I've EVER had in my life. So attentive and fun. She was on top of it. We barely had to wait 5 minutes for our salads and our entrees were on our table less than 10 minutes later. She and the rest of the staff were so attentive that our drinks were never less than 3/4 full.
I was sweetly surprised at the stellar service I received at Bubba Gump today and I will DEFINITELY be a repeat customer! -

Not satisfied. I ordered the Net Catch...1/2 butter 1/2 cajun..small shrimps, no taste! I should've taken a drive to the North Shore to eat at the shrimp trucks instead! Had to wait too long for our food.Wont be back to eat.
But our waitress was nice! -
