This place is fun, but be smart about it: if you're looking for fine dining, this isn't the place for you. Hell, if you're looking for fine dining you probably shouldn't be in Gatlinburg, the Cheesefest of Tourist Excess. But if you want some tasty shrimp in a casual environment and aren't scared off by personable wait staff who are *required* to interact entertainingly with their customers, then sit down and grab a menu. I loved all the Gump trivia and kitsch, and I give kudos to our waiter Matt who did an excellent Forrest imitation: "itty bitty STAYN-ging ra-ain..." Fun! I got the shrimp skewers with lemon garlic butter on the side and it was delicious. My friend got some stuffed shrimp and she gave it a big thumbs up. The calamari as a starter was meh, but big deal. I tried the Lt. Dan's Punch and got a "free" glass for my efforts. It was tasty and got me buzzed -- I don't ask any more than that for an $11 drink. So, to recap: shrimp A+, Matt A+, alcohol A+, calamari B-. Good times. Check it out.

Hi! I have been to Bubba Gump several times since it has been opened."I want opening day" I have seen the overall quality change the past years. The food is good but its lacking overall flavor.I am a person that likes constant food all the time.If I order one time and order it again,I want it to taste the same.Maybe they go through many cooks?
Thanks Brigitte Grisanti -

Walked into the restaurant after scouring Gatlinburg during a slow Monday evening. We were greeted by a host that said little and walked off without acknowledging us. Our waiter was an arrogant Russian (mentioned in a previous review by another customer) that managed to offend my wife with some of his comments. He seemed to have a script and wasn't very interactive with us.
We ordered the Onion Rings as an appetizer, which were fantastic. The BBQ sauce complemented them very well. For entrees I ordered the "Bucket of Boat Trash" (very unappealing name), which left a lot to be desired portion-wise, given the $20 price associated with it. The entree comes in a large bucket, but the bucket is only partially filled with fries, a few pieces of fried shrimp, and "lobster" legs. My wife had a sampler as an entree, and overall we were very pleased with it.
Summary: Bad service. Excellent appetizers. Poor/overpriced entrees. This was our first Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. experience, and we probably won't be visiting any of them again. The $50 bill that we had for two entrees and an appetizer wasn't worth it. -

I was really disappointed with this bubba gump's. The cajun spice peel and eat shrimp tasted like straight butter and was cold. The server was a douche from Russia that made me want to punch him in the throat. I had a really good experience at the one in Hawaii a few years ago but this was far from a enjoyable time. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is the southern breaded shrimp was tasty and the second server that kept me from going rocky IV on mother Russia.

Shrimp was very good. Atmosphere was great. Probably could get good shrimp dishes at another restaurant with same quality and little less exspensive.
Would I go back. Maybe. I have no reason not to.
Service was excellent also. -

Fun place to eat and the staff is entertaining. You will definitely want to brush up on your Forest Gump trivia. The waiter/ waitress will ask you trivia questions based on the movie to see if you know the answers.
The food was ok but not excellent. The stuffed trout was on the dry side and the shrimp was lacking flavor. Food wasn't worth the price. I was really hoping the food would be good because this place was fun. I may give it another try in the future and hope they improve. -

Update: After my review was read, their corporate office contacted me personally for an apology and offered to redeem themselves. Their corporate customer service is on point, now lets hope their restaurants can change my experience.

Mmmm mmmm. All kinds of shrimp and any way you want it made. And the best part, you get to relive all of the Forest Gump movie. I quite enjoyed the theme there. They use license plates as service tools to call the waiters' attention for service 'stop forest stop' or something to that effect OR 'run forest run' to signify that you're doing ok and don't need assistance.
I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta - delicios! And my friend ordered the fish and for a shrimp place, it was rockin' too.
The place gets crazy busy though! -

The first thing I thought of when I met our waiters, was oh I can't wait to get on YELP for this.
I guess our first mistake was choosing to sit on the balcony where we had an obnoxious douche bag tool duo as our waiters. See #2: /http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=to ol
They were loud and obnoxious, sat down at every table to take your orders and attempted to crack jokes and get you involved, when I said no to partaking in me acting as the waiter to my boyfriend they egged me on (wtf?!) I dropped the center piece over that was on the table by mistake and they made a big deal, pointed me out and acted like I needed to leave- all joking of course, but what. the hell?! Leave us alone, take our order and let us eat our over priced shrimp platter that did not have enough shrimp on it to be called "shrimpers heaven"
I have been to two bubba gump shrimp cos before and yes I knew the food would be not that cheap, but the nice not in your face waiters and atmosphere made up for it. We didn't spend any time inside the restaurant, but I know it is a cutely themed restaurant but I wish we went across the street to dicks, mellow mush room or just one of the other many restaurants but my love for shrimp and Forrest Gump couldn't keep me away.
I know the 5 hours I just drove helped with my sour mood, but these guys seriously deserved a blast.
If you like seafood, forrest gump, and don't mind paying more for what you get, and hoping you don't get the waiters we did- then this is the place for you. -

We called ahead and I am glad that we did. They told us it would be about an hour wait and they would call our name. We got there and checked in and they seated us right away. I heard there was a party of 20 who was waiting for 2 hours. We had a party of 6 and everything was delicious. The Mahi with bourbon sauce was recommended by the waiter and it did not disappoint. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the garlic mashed potatoes were also good. Everyone enjoyed their meals and even the chicken which is probably not their specialty was tasty. The only thing to consider is that they add the gratuity to the bill with 6 or more. It is 18% which is fine, but it is taxed which is crazy.

We've eaten here the past two times we've visited Gatlinburg and were really excited to eat here again on this visit. It just wasn't as good as the previous two times and they seated us on the "enclosed, totally heated outdoor patio." It wasn't so bad to start with (it was 40 degrees out) but by the time we finished with our meal, I couldn't stop shivering. What's so bad, is they had open tables inside the nice, heated dining areas. I think we would've enjoyed our meal more if we'd been warm. On the upside, the service was good and we do like the atmosphere. However, it is quite expensive to eat here and my feelings won't be hurt if we never go back.

The food is good... Not great. But still good. I went a different route from seafood. I live at the beach in Florida and feel like ill never have fresh fish like i can at home. Call me wierd but even the waiter agreed that somtimes there geographical location causes some ingredients to be less than amazing.
So I had a cajun chicken sandwich. It was very good and filling.
But like i said judged by its food this place is just average.
Add in the fun friendly and straight out of the movie atmosphere and its 5 stars all the way. I happen to love the movie and thought it was really fun to step foot into a place that celebrated every scene the way they did. With memoroblia and little things everywhere to remind you of the movie and your favorite parts and the movie playing on the big screen it was a bit hit in my book.
And yeah the waiter has a little trivia round with your table.
The price is a little bit up there when you order certain things. mostly seafood. but its not unmanagable.
Try it out if your a fan of the movie and it will be more than worth it

I don't like to give bad reviews but I have to be honest. This place has really gone downhill since the new owners took over. Gone are the deviled eggs and new is the smaller portions and reduced flavor. I don't mind so much paying a lot for parking and for food unless it isn't special and it isn't special anymore. I found the staff to be nice still but longed for the days when I could recommend Bubba Gump's. Note that this is a touristy kind of joint. Avoid if you don't like a bubbly, involved waiter who will ask you trivia questions about the movie.

I've walked past the BGSCo. In MN, and SanFran thinking I would eventually walk into one. Low and behold the one in Gatlinburg just happened to be on our way to Asheville, so we stopped in. I'm sorry I took the detour. I'm giving this three stars only because there is no 2.5.
For a place that specializes in Shrimp, I expected more. Last night's service was lackluster. The waitress did a fine job. The fellow doing the trivia was a bit pushy.
We skipped appetizers and went right onto the main dishes. The Crab stuffed shrimp were ok - A few bites were way* over salted, but the majority was good.
The Shrimp Sampler was a disappointment. The first order arrived cold and had to be sent back. 2nd batch was hot. Beer Battered Shrimp were yummy, as were the tempura and plain. The coconut shrimp were over fried.
The movie is a classic, and everyone should own a copy. But the restaurant is not living up to the hype. If they were running a special on something, I might return - Paying full fair is too much for the quality of the food. -

My wife and I visited here for the first time in early April and were seated in about 15 minutes for dinner (8:00 PM). The staff was very friendly and we thought the service was very good.
I had Shrimp and Grits and my wife had "I'm Stuffed" shrimp and crab with cheese. Both were excellent and very filling. We shared a shrimp cocktail appetizer and though the portion plus prawn size was excellent. All that plus two drinks ran about $65. That seemed very reasonable to us especially since we're in a tourism-based town. -

Awesome service and food. Going back next time I'm close to one. Order the Hush Puppies. You won't regret it.

9:30PM - The Hush Pups were a great appetizer. We had the Mahi Mahi Skillet and Cajun Catfish as entrees. The Catfish was juicy and tender served with a tasty salsa on a bed of rice and a side of slaw. The Mahi Mahi was flavorful and firm servers with asparagus and sliced carrots on a bed of rice with a buttery sauce. For desert we had the most wonderful Bed Pudding ala mode.

This place was pretty good. I had the coconut shrimp, it was very delicious. The waiter was friendly, he even asked my family and I a Forrest Gump trivia question. The service was speedy. The atmosphere was cool, too!

DELICIOUS!! One of the, if not the best places to eat in G-burg. The Salmon and asparagus was seasoned perfectly. Nice atmosphere and close to everything.
