Review from Bill D.
There have been alot of mixed reviews on this place, but my experience was very good. It started at the bar with a Corona-rita. I posted a picture but it is a margarita, with a small corona bottle held upside down in the drink. Some of you may say "old news" but this is the first time I have seen it.
I was in a party of 14 or 15 people so we had some dedicated waitresses that took very good care of us. We ordered about every appetizer on the menu and I can honestly say I liked everything I tried.
I ordered the crab legs for my entree which came in a bucket. The legs were somewhat small, so if I had a complaint it would be that. I like a good set of crap legs but if I'm going to put that kind of work into dinner, I would like a larger leg so I can enjoy the work of getting it out.
All in all I thought it was a great experience. We sat on the patio overlooking the ocean and the weather was beautiful that night. The only bad thing about the evening was when I walked back to the hotel and stepped into the elevator with about 10 other people I didn't know and realized that to totally reeked of fish. I didn't make eye contact with anyone hoping that they wouldn't recognize me if they seen me the next day. When you can smell yourself, you know it was bad for them! -

I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants but I like coming here when I'm in Fort Lauderdale....the pop corn shrimp appitizer is great as is the pear/rasberry salad. very nice friendly staff. I'm sure the burgers taste good because the folks next to us were acting like the famous scene from when Harry met Sally when eating their burgers.

Where to start? I love this place. I get the popcorn shrimp for an appetizer is amazing!!! It is my absolute favorite! I got a burger, which had lots of flavor.the salad is amazing too. Beautiful setting, with a little water fall, and pigeons all around. The birds won't take food, and won't be a bother. If anything, they add to the setting. Beautiful place, beautiful people.

Bubba Gumps is a great place to grab an appetizer or a sandwich before hitting the beach. I wouldn't come here for dinner or as a night out. It is what it is, a food chain with mediocre food. The hush puppies were pretty yummy though! Our waiter was very attentive and quick to serve us. The best thing the restaurant has going for it, is the view of the beach.

As a gumpie (Bubba Gump fan), this place was a must while on vacation in Florida! It's located across from the beach. Great place to pop in after a rough day of playing in the water.
It's a chain so you know how it works with the service alert system of blue (keep walking) and red (talk to me) license plate signs.
I totally recommend the dessert sampler especially the strawberry shortcake. Those biscuits were phenomenal! -

Service Service Service! Excellent! The food...a-ok. The location: a block from the beach!
I ordered the appetizer sampler to try a bunch of different stuff. The spinach/artichoke dip was not great. Too much oil. The shrimp cocktail was good. The sauce was perfect. Fried coconut shrimp was tasty. My favorite sample was the hush puppies! They got this one down. Not too greasy. small chunks of corn and filled with yummy fish!.
They have really tasty drinks and they are not expensive. I was really impressed with my margarita. They gave me a whole shaker full for re-fills. Total was $8.00 and I think I poured myself 4 drinks! They were small but still had a great flavor. Not too sweet. Just right.
Next time I'm going to go for a giant crab bowl...mmmmmm.
Thanks bubba gump for a good first experience. -

This place is a tourists paradise. It is kitchy and hilarious. That being said almost everything on the menu is fried. Well not EVERYTHING but most things.
But hey i'm a true southern girl so I loved it. I had shrimpers heaven as did 2 other people at my table and though it was 18 bucks I was sooo happy. I loved it.
I got a sald that was generous in portion and left feeling so full and shrimp tastic I just want more thinking about it. -

Service was OK but the food was nothing special and overpriced. It is more of a place to go as a tourist then for great food. Will skip this place next time.

Service was OK. Did not get a refill on my water. Shrimp had multiple layers of shell to take off. The only thing that tasted good was the Chicken Sandwich in a fish restaurant.

I feel like cheated on my Boiling Crab XXX Shabang Shrimp.
Bubba Gump's is pretty good I must say... The food was good, the service was good and our waiter did a phenomenal job entertaining us with questions about the movie Forest Gump.
I shall see you in SF Bubba Gump! -

Great service tonight, and the food was good. The standout from this evening was our server. We arrived for a later dinner, and even till we finally completed our meal, he was attentive to our needs, and never rushed us. We left an hour after their official closing time. That's good service. The food was good, not amazing, but good. I had the bucket o' boat trash for my meal. My only complaint is the fish used was kind of mushy. I talked with the server about it, he said its a hoke' fish, the consistency was to be expected...they used to use mahi, which would have been perfect. Otherwise, it was the consistency of a frozen fish stick. Tasty, but mushy. Wife had the shrimp lovers basket, was very pleased. Overall, good experience...thanks Bubba's!

Nice service, beautiful view of the beach, the food was tasteless. A year ago, the shrimps were better, now the use the cheaper ones. Nothing outstanding, the food was so-so, but drinks were terrible. Try some other places, this one doesn't worse ur money, at least this location

We walked from the hotel for lunch on a Friday. The restaurant opened at 11 am and there was a line of people waiting to be seated. We sat outside; BGSC is located right on the beach, so it was an easy choice. The inside had loud music (noise) too.
I ordered a fried fish sandwich which was excellent, and she ordered a salad which she enjoyed.
Service on the other hand was a lot like their french fries, not very good.
Overall a safe choice for people unfamiliar with the area. -

we had a nice meal here. I had the shrimp popular dish and wife had the mushroom veggie burger. both were good, but the kids meal ruled! He had mac n cheese, and JELLO!!!
Beautiful views of the beach, nice waterfall... a nice experience. -

I did not like their chain food. Cute place and nice view, but food was salty and fatty. Blah

It's a chain restaurant, so don't expect gourmet; but what they do, the do well. Shrimp tacos hit the spot. Sweet tea coolers come with martini shakers you can pick up at the in-house store selling Bubba Gump merchandise. This particular location was crammed with patrons night after night, and is an overall fun and easygoing place to dine.

Yes folks, it is a chain restaurant. Now that we've got that cleared up, let's get down to why people visit - for the experience! I've been to 5 Bubba Gump's in 4 states and truly love the consistency - the service is always great, the seafood is always fresh (even in Colorado!), and it's just a run, kitschy experience. This location was no exception, the server was fun and really went all out on the trivia questions. The coconut shrimp were delicious, as usual, and the drinks are tasty and pretty big too. I'd never had the hush puppies before, and am generally not a fan of them anyway, but must admit that these were delish.
Go, enjoy the view and all the kitsch and great seafood it has to offer! -

The restaurant environment & the presentation of the dishes were great! but not so much for the food. The Cajun style peel & eat shrimp as an appetizer was enjoyable! I would recommend ordering the Lt. Dan's Drunken Shrimp dish and the crab stuffed shrimp. I wouldn't recommend the Grouper in butter sauce dish; Grouper & mashed potatoes do not compliment each other. Also, the shrimp sampler was just okay. Not that great. For dessert, I would suggest the kid's Sundae. you get to build your own! :)
However, the service and view of the beach is excellent. Very pretty in the evening more so than the morning time. Great for casual dining with friends, family and maybe even a casual date. -

Corina is right.. make sure you get the glass, because when we asked for it, the waitress was like, "Oh, yeah! Let me get you another copy of the receipt" for you to claim the free glass." I had a Big Easy (Dekuyper Peach, OJ, and Cranberry splashed with Southern Comfort)
I must also admit that I was spending more time looking at the menu wondering what to eat... they over the budget.. so I ordered my Dixie Fishwich. We nibbled on the appetizer called Run Across America Sampler: Chips and dip, Chilly Shrimp, spicy chicken strips, hush pups (deep fried fish and shrimp with Remoulade dip), and fried Shrimp.
My fishwich turned out to be yummy, it was charbroiled like I asked and came with the cajun sauce and fries.
I had their mini dessert in the glass.. don't they have the same thing in PF Chang's?? Be careful when it comes to desserts like Chocolate Chip Cookie Sundae, it's big. I had to join in eating it along with hubby for the friends to finish it. I couldn't continue and just stopped there. lol
What really bothered us was the fact that they made us and our friends sit inside and let the next couple sit outside.. and there was no longer any rain. -

Get drunk and recite lines from the movie. Not really a restaurant. More of a super fun tourist trap. Gotta love that; however people sneaking in from the beach to change in the bathroom really pissed me off. I am not nice when I have to pee and nasty bitches are throwing sand everywhere.
I wouldn't go there expecting to eat great food. If you do go the "far out dip" for an appetizer is yummy to have with a drink. -

I know....I know....the heart of Tourist Town Fort Lauderdale, but I was hungry and thirsty. The prices are typical for tourists...and the drinks are equally as pricey (and a little watery).
While the food quality was good (popcorn shrimp with dipping sauces and the fish over mashed potatoes and spinach), the service was not the best.
As always, the waiter could have turned the evening around to his favor of he had only taken the time to put a little care into his service. When plates are needed for the appetizer, don't grab a handful of plates and drop them off on the corner of the table....personally give each guest their own plate. When silverware was missing, place a full set with each guest...don't grab a handful and drop it all off at the corner of the table.
Again, I know the area was not the best for a 5-Star restaurant, but at least give me 4-Star service! -

Bubba Grump Shrimp Co. There it is you just paid for the name. Food was OK, service was OK, price was not OK. If your out and about touring around, and wanna say "Hey I've ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co" then go there and spend your money once, after that find somewhere else to go for your shrimp and seafood dining needs.

Food = Fantastic
Service = phenomenal
Price = the high end of acceptable
I'm in South Florida at least once a year and I always try to stop here when I am. I'm surprised that some of the reviews have complaints about the service. I guess I've been lucky because the service has always been top notch for me. The food is usually good but this year was better than most. I'm allergic to shellfish (so why go to a place with shrimp in the name) so I ordered the ribs which were amazing even by "rib-joint" standards. My fiance ordered the catch of the day which I couldn't sample since it was cooked in some kind of lobster sauce but she assured me that it was phenomenal. I also like the fact that this restaurant is located right on the beach which provides a great atmosphere. -

Pompano Beach, FL
I like this place. There is also a Bubba Gump in Miami at Bayside.
Don't go here expecting a 5 star dining experience, it's just a fun inexpensive place to go. The food and theme is from the movie Forrest Gump of course. Bubba Gump this, Bubba Gump that. You get the idea. I would recommend the shrimp dishes especially. (you know the movie bit was all about tons of different shrimp dishes) I like the shrimp linguini myself.
For the fun and the price I give this place a big thumbs up. Great place to take out-of-town guests on a budget. I would not take a date here, they will think you are cheap and it is too noisy. Go more upscale for a date. As long as you tell people not to expect 5 star dining and to just enjoy the fun factor, most will like the place, the food and the price. Dress casual and have a good time with it.
Warning. This place can get crowded in the evenings because of the price point and tourist factor. Have a backup place to go in case there is a very long wait or maybe try to call in advance to ensure seating. -

Think twice b 4 u eat here the food is so, so service so, so, staff not so warm to us 1st time visitors on 7/5/11-lunch. Food way over priced. I had a cup of (6oz that looked like 3oz) Luke warm no flavor gumbo. $6.99 way over priced for the portion served. We also had the 1/3 Cajun shrimp bucket which lac some flavor in taste. Would I go again NO!
Although they look like a nice place 2 eat, just b cuz you're a tourist I felt price exploited as expected n this beach front sunshine area. It took them too long 2 get r additional order so we cancelled it and left--no I did not speak with the manager as I felt it would do no good just to get and apology and no price adjustment.
Recommendation: Pass on this place.

I dunno...maybe its because i've eaten seafood other than frozen fish stix or the McFish. The seafood was overbreaded, or overcooked, sloppy presentation, not seasoned properly, and it took them close to an hour to prepare it even though it was practically empty. If youre from a landlocked $#!Thole of a town where Walmarts and Red Lobsters are in every stripmall...then its fine. But if you've actually fished, or traveled, or got educated, or can tie your shoes, and didnt have to ride the special schoolbus please stay away.

in all the years my girl has lived in cali, she waits til we're in florida to say she wants bubba gump. shrimp shrimp shrimp and more shrimp...oh and a pear & berry salad on the side just to say i had my greens.
.: catch of the day--3/4 lb of spicy cajun and garlic.decent sized shrimp with a kick of flavor that is somewhat disappointing to rep cajun from the lack of heat and the garlic wasn't as garlicy as i'd hoped but they've still got decent flavors
.: shrimp heaven platter -- tempura shrimp, coconut shrimp, plain fried, and shrimp cocktail...this was kind of neh. none of them really stood out to me and the array of exotic sauces weren't extreme enough to do a flavor makeover for the ordinary fried shrimp + sauce mix
.: pear & berry salad -- pleasant mix of tangy berry with the sweetness of pear made it an extremely "california" dish that was guilt free.
bubba gump is definitely one of those places you have to eat at once in your life. i mean come on, who hasn't seen tom hanks in forrest gump?? you also get cute cups to take home with certain beverages. but as for the food...i don't know if i would make my way out hereto eat...if you know what i mean. -

I had eaten here on a previous visit to Fort Lauderdale. I did not remember its being really good, but I thought it had been good enough to try again. The food is overpriced. It's very noisy and the atmosphere is not conducive to an enjoyable meal. I sat outside last time (one big plus is how it is right across the street from the beach) but this time, I sat inside. The food is not very good, and the service is terrible. Not even if you are desperate!

Should have listened to the other reviews, but my wife wanted to eat here anyway. Food was just okay, very little quantity for the price. Service was good and we enjoyed the trivia questions. Overall, I think you can have a better dinning experience for the money in other restaurants. Will check that one off the bucket list and hope to never return again.

it was exactly what i expected from a chain restaurant. service was great, food was mediocre, price was high, portions were small: some items, like popcorn shrimp, are served in a small paper cone for 8 bucks. view of the ocean was fantastic and the pidgeons walking around entertained my kids . good mix of music , and its loud so if Youre looking for a quiet dinner this isnt the place for you overall i wished i did more research on a more local restaurant. kids loved it but i wouldnt go back

I don't think so! The food is HORRIBLE! Total tourist trap. Drinks are nasty and overpriced. The waiter told me that I was getting a FREE Bubba Gump glass with my drink order. When I got home and looked at the bill, I noticed that I was charged for it. If you do go, and they offer you a drink in a Bubba Gump glass, be sure to ask for the cost.
