We were heading to the Daytona 500 from Seattle, so I checked out Yelp to see what was good in the area near where we staying at on the beach. And looking at the reviews I decided to give Bubba Gump Shrimp Co a try.
Sure glad we went there! I'm usually not a chain or theme restaurant type of eater, but dang - this food was awesome, so good we came back the next night as well. Very delicious food and the service was excellent with super friendly (in a genuine manner) and the service was fast. The drinks came fast too, which was much needed. We liked our server Calle so much - that we requested her again the second visit as well. She was perfect in every way possible for our time there.
And this is what we ate and I highly recommend:
***** Lt. Dan's Drunken Shrimp -
"Large chargrilled Shrimp and Andouille
Sausage with Mashed Potatoes and
Bourbon Sauce".
***** Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi -
"Charbroiled Cajun spiced Mahi Mahi with
Bourbon Sauce and grilled Shrimp, served
over Mashed Potatoes".
*** Seafood Hush Pups -
"Not quite Hush Puppies - we make 'em better!
Tasty Shrimp and Fish with golden Corn, deep fried
and served with a Remoulade Dippin' Sauce".
Is this place a little pricey? Yes, but we're on vacation spending thousands of dollar to be paid someday in the future - so we don't care about that, just that the food and service were worth our time there. 5 stars!

Sorry but I am only giving it one star!!! We have eaten at BG's at John's Pass before and enjoyed the food and atmosphere but we didn't even get a table at the Daytona Beach place.
We were there on Spring Break and knew it would be crowded with a wait. We went to the front to put our name on the waiting list and was told by the hostess that it would be a two hour wait for a table of 4. Then she told us that we could buy a $25.00 express seating certificate and be seated in 10 mins?????? I asked if the $25.00 certificate could be used for the bill and she told me "no the $25.00 certificate is used to bypass other people who have been waiting for a seat!!!"
For some reason that didn't sit well with me!! I understand maximizing your profits but that just seamed like they were taking too much advantage of the spring break crowd!!
I am not the type that goes to the manager to complain. If I have a bad experience I just stop patronizing your establishment and tell all my friends!
Sorry Bubba, not spending any more money with you!!!! -

Food was good just over priced. Definitely worth going to once just to say you've been there. For amount of $ you spend/dish you don't get enough food.

The Fish Hush Puppies and Spinach Dip are awesome!!! Too Expensive for a chain restaurant. I would go back for appetizers but not dinner.

Only o.k., $20 for a bucket of boat trash....would have been better if the shrimp & fish weren't deep fried. Great atmosphere and great theme!! Curiosity satisfied, time to move on!

I had some shrimp and sausage skewers with a bourbon dipping sauce which were really tasty. Not getting a 4 star review since the prices are a bit high though this is expected from a touristy restaurant. Good place to hit on your first night for a "vacationy" dinner.

The mahi mahi was great.
Our waiter, Nick, was excellent.
Typical seafood/tropical decor. -

It's great that Bubba spent his life around shrimp. They really do their shrimp right here. I don't think I have eaten shrimp dishes as good as the ones I ate here. The flavors really complemented each other nicely and the service was good.
Don't forget to look at their dessert menu. We ordered this one (http://s3-media3.px.ye...) and it was heavenly.Listed in: Days in Daytona Beach

I'm only giving this place 2 stars because the of the "You Peel Em" Shrimp App. It was very good with a large qty of shrimp. But the rest of the meal was by far below my standards when it comes to seafood...save yourself the touristy experience and go to Boondocks on the River side towards Ponce Inlet. WAY BETTER!

Love the food and drinks at this place. Make sure to bring your wallet cause this place will definitely set you back. It can get a tad pricey, especially if you order drinks.
However, if you order one of their specialty drinks you may get to take a nice glass souvenir glass home with you. Definitely a plus.
If you're a fan of shrimp, you'll love this place. I got to go twice over the past weekend. Their shrimp skewers are absolutely delicious. I highly recommend them especially if you want to be a bit healthier. Their alcoholic lemonade is also incredibly delicious. I'm also a fan of the raspberry sweet tea vodka.
Definitely a yummy place to go for dinner but get there early on the weekends or you'll be waiting. -

I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be mediocre food with a name that was just trading on the famous movie to get people in the door. BUT, everything tasted really good and our waiter was super friendly and helpful. Definitely the best place we've eaten within walking distance of Main Street.

Had a late dinner there with the family...it was surprisingly dead for a Saturday night! Then again, it is Daytona beach! :)
Food:
- shrimp/lobster bisque was no good. DO NOT order it!
- shrimp bubbling pot dish was good. ask for more french bread! the jasmine rice was a joke. stick to the bread.
- key lime pie was a tad bit sweet...but always good.
Service:
- waiter was very attentive to the sign (run forrest run, stop forrest stop)
- waiter kept checking on us...then again, my parents had the deer in headlights look
Tip-bits:
Park in the multi-story garage across the street.
Overpass on the 2nd floor, restaurant's on the first -

This Bubba location is very well rated in Daytona Beach. The location is awesome, especially when there is an event at the adjacent plaza which was the case during that visit. The terrace table worked out great to enjoy the show.
We had the Cajun shrimps and the signature fish with the bourbon sauce. The combination was awesome and we had a blast. It sucked that they brought the entree only 10 minutes through the meal. We had barely started with the appetizer. That was annoying. -

Went here with my sister and had really good food. I got coconut shrimp and my sister had fried mahi mahi. We both liked our food a lot. Our waiter was really nice and pretty funny.
My sister cracked me up when she asked me why everything there was about forest gump. I guess she didn't understand the concept of a theme restaurant. -

Food was fabulous, service was friendly and excellent. It is their busy season so we did have to wait but not long. They were also able to EASILY accommodate my husband who has celiac and needs a gluten-free diet. Kids liked it too. Brush up on your Forest trivia before you go! Run Forest run!

This was the first time that I have ever had Bubba Gump's, and unfortunately at this one, I was not impressed. They sat my group and forgot about us- finally we got our drinks. Appetizers were pretty skimpy and not too good. Finally when they brought the food, the food carrier girl, think her name was Stacey, was a bitch and snappy. The food was just ok- nothing too special. Hell, one in our party had to stop two miles away and puke. That should tell you about the food!
Overall, just ok- nothing to write home about. -

I've been to other Bubba Gump locations and for the most part the food and drinks have just been average. Unfortunately this location wasn't any different.
We had a party of 6 and I wasn't sure how the seating was going to work out, but we were lucky that there was no line and we were seated outside within 5 minutes. It was a nice night and you could still hear the ocean, so I didn't mind sitting outside. We ordered a whole table full of food: 3 lbs of shrimp (cajun and garlic), onion rings, spinach artichoke dip, clams and mussels, and two types of scampi. WOW! To wash it all down, we each ordered a drink that came in one of those souvenir cups to take back home.
The shrimp were just OK. It's not like you couldn't buy some shrimp and boil them at home and season them with some cajun spices or some garlic butter, but it is convenient to have someone else do it for you. The dipping sauce for the onion rings were good. The clams and mussels had a handful of unopened ones which means they're no good which also meant there goes half of my dish! The drinks were not very strong at all. It made me doubt the amount of alcohol in the drinks. Luckily I ordered a beer so I knew there was at least some alcohol in my beverage.
The service was really good and entertaining. The rest of my group had a great time and really enjoyed the food. I on the other hand didn't have the same experience. -

I had a real good time at Bubba Gump. I was impressed with the friendly and quick staff, excellent job. Food was real good, stick with anything that has shrimp in it and you can't go wrong.
I had a specialty drink that tasted like pure sugar and no booze. Lame beer selection.
My advice is to order one or more of the 1 1/2 lbs of cajun shrimp from the appetizer menu because it was better then most of the entrees. Do not order any of the specialty drinks. Watch Forrest Gump before you go.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Went here with a party of 7 (3 children included). Waited quite 45 min to be seated and it was chaos.
Drinks were watery, we sent them all back and got bottled goods (wine and beer). Even "nectar" drink with no alcohol was watery.
Portions were OK but over all the price was very high for what we received. No extras for sure. We spent over $200 with tip and had a bunch of sharing going on and did not get charged for drinks. The manager was also a good guy and per Walker's recommendation, threw in two large deserts.
While nobody else suffered from indigestion, it was a lousy night for me after eating there. I have a cast iron stomach so go figure.
Waiter Walker rocked and we tipped him very well. Told him not to split it with the bartender. All in all, awesome waiter, very accommodating manager, drinks awful, food overpriced and quality just "ok".
Bearing in mind we went out for dinner the next night had 2 extra adults, spent a little over $100 had better food and a nicer atmosphere on the water. -

Went with Wife and 8mo child for lunch. Was not crowded and seated right away. Found the inside AC to be entirely to cold but they had no problem moving us outside immediately.
I love shrimp and started with the 3/4 lb Shrimpers net catch (half garlic half cajun) and LOVED it! My entree was the Texas cajun chicken sandwich and I throughly enjoyed this as well. My wife ate a plain hamburger and had a mixed drink that she really enjoyed.
I found the host and every waiter/waitress very friendly and eager to help.
All in all I had the best experience here during my vacation and look forward to returning again. -

I've eaten at Bubba Gump's twice. The first time, the food was pretty good, nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed the atmosphere....and it was several years ago.
So, we decided to go back on our "date night". It was over an hour wait for a table, so we took a stroll on the beach, and then went next door for a cocktail while we waited.
We were finally seated at an incredibly small table for two in the small front room which was loaded with children under 2. Fun times were ahead.
I ordered the coconut shrimp, which was awful. The shrimp was tough and the breading was thick and tasteless. I don't remember the name of the dish my husband ordered, but it was some sort of cajun dish with shrimp and sausage. He enjoyed his meal.
I'm sure there are yummy dishes on the menu, just not the coconut shrimp, and whatever you do, don't order any of their drinks, unless it's wine or beer. $10 for a glass of water is basically what you'll end up with.
Our waiter was nice.......but not nice enough to get us back there again. I'm sure they're not worried, though. Bubba Gump's thrives on the tourists who will be gone in a week anyway. -
Review from Dave F.
Outside dining next to the beach with a reminder of a movie that I did not realized have not seen in over a decade ago and chasing away pigeons was the overall experience.
I had a grilled shrimp salad over mixed greens. The salad was pretty good, but I left hungry. The bill was 50 bucks for two adults and a teenager that ordered popcorn shrimp and nobody had alcohol.
I went back to the condo and ate a sandwich on the balcony while looking at an unobstructed view of the ocean.
The taste, staff and location (even with obstructed view and pigeons) were all good, but not the best value. -

Came here for lunch and had a salad. It was the Ying Yang Salad which was grilled shrimp over a bed of mixed greens. It also had nuts and mangos. It was really good but the mangos were a little sour. It was a little on the pricey side, but one should expect that for a Bubba Gumps on the Beachside. The drinks aren't any good however, especially for the price tag that you pay for them. You have better luck with the many bars in the area.
If you are looking for something exciting, this is not the place for you, but if it's something safe, this will do. -

My brother-in-law and I went in for lunch and were the first ones there. This place is a little above average in their seafood offerings, at least with what we had. I had a the Bourbon Street Mahi, which was done very nicely. The fish was cooked a little past perfect, but not as much as other places. The sauce was quite tasty, and the service was very good.
I'd go again. -

Wow i had the bourbon fish. It was so delicious, I almost thought I was eating chicken. Great location with a great view to the beach. The drinks are not so good, they let you keep the cup if you order the frozen drinks which makes a great souvenir, we all loved the Forest Gump movie.

Bubba Gump shrimp company is great! We went there the other day and I was so happy to see that they have a completely gluten free menu available! Excellent service and the food was amazing. They even have dessert options on the gluten free menu which other gfers know is hard to find! I totally recommend this for other gluten intolerant and celiac people.
