I first met Brad down at the race track and he had offered me some quick advice on my brother's Porsche. I had told him about Brad and what he had told me that day.
Last week my brother decided to go try out Brad and see if he could fix his car.
We dropped it off and i loved up the dog in the back while he and brad chatted.
My bother told me that it was fixed the very next day. I wanted to go drop him off and see the dog again but he had one of his friends take him.
He told me that it runs much better now and that he was happy with the work Brad did as well as the price.
" should i write a good review on yelp" i asked?
" You Bet " he said. -

First, let me start off by saying that I have not taken my vehicle here for service, so I am only reviewing the customer service I experienced over the phone to obtain a quote and schedule service. However, I feel that good customer service is an important prerequisite before I take my vehicle in for service.
I called to obtain a quote on a service for my car. The person who answered seemed very busy and a bit frazzled over the phone. He informed me that he would call me right back and in a very hurried way took down my name and some details about the car (although, I don't believe he actually got my name). I believe it was around 3pm. I never heard back.
The next day, he called in the morning and left a message to call him back. I called back and he gave me the quote for the service. He also informed me as to what the service would entail. I asked him a simple question about the costs if I were to remove to elements (the Air Filter and the Cabin Filter). He instantly got defensive and asked "Why would you want to do that." I informed him that I could, very simply, changed those parts out myself (really...both filters in my vehicle are VERY easy and simple to change). Clearly, I wanted to do the rest of the service with this company (because of the reviews on Yelp), but I figure that it is a waste of money to pay someone to do a service that I can do in less than 10 minutes.
He said to me "well, maybe you should take your car to a place that does things in piecemeal...that's not how we do business." So, instead of just taking off the $40 parts for two simple filters, they would rather I take my business elsewhere? Sure! No problem with that. And, in the time I spent writing this review, I could have had both filters replaced.
Again, I would like to emphasize the fact that I have NOT taken my vehicle for service here (I do not know how good their service or repairs are), but I feel that this experience was a red flag for me. Needles to say, I will be taking my business elsewhere.Comment from Brad M. of BTM Motorwerks 5/24/2012

These guys fit me in quickly, did professional work, and were honest with me. I'm definitely going to be using them again.
I dropped off my car today for an alignment and they were unable to manipulate the tie rods due to rust - they called me to let me know, then let me know that since the toe was within spec, it's something I can put off. I really appreciated that. -

I set an appointment to get an oil leak diagnosed on my Audi, thinking this was going to get fixed the same day. But unfortunately they called me back to pick up my car and said that it would take more than a day to fix which needed to be rescheduled. This was on a Friday and they were closed on Saturdays. When I got back to the shop they said that valve cover gasket and the camshaft seals were leaking but they weren't 100% sure until they open up the engine.
In the end I didn't get any work done here, I found a shop that deals exclusively with Audi & VWs and they fixed my car in a day and charged me one-third the price BTM was quoting me. -

I'm not happy with BTM at all. I'm having AC problems and had them look into it. After "diagnosing" the problem was told the blower motor was bad and had to be replaced. $300 dollars in parts and labor later was just told the AC still doesn't work! Now they want to take apart my entire front end and attempt to diagnose the problem again - all the while charging me another 4-5 hours of labor. They're not going to suck another dime out of me just so they can MISdiagnose the proglem again. No way. I'll never go back.
Also - they had my car an entire day and didn't even touch it. How inconvenient. They should have told me they couldn't get to it until the next day so I wouldn't have been without a car for 2 days. Great Customer Service guys. Diamond certified obviously doesn't count for much. -

BTM is awesome! Took my Audi TT there a couple of times and they are better and cheaper than Steven 's Creek Audi. I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off when I go to BTM.
The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and I recommend this place to anyone that has a Porsche or Audi. Don't hesitate. Either drive or get your car towed there. Either way you won't regret it! -

Pros
* they know how to fix your German car. Dealer-level competence
* probably a good choice over dealer if your car is modded
Cons
* Service experience - indifferent attitude, lacksadasical regard for detail
* Brad: prickly in an unhappy-person way; comes across as demeaning when you make requests; always acts like he's doing you a favor.
* Big mark-up on parts ("we don't make any money on labor")
They've always left me feeling less than satisfied with the job performed. They've been on time and performed quality work, but offer nothing else -- in over $2000 worth of services I never got so much as a thank-you when handing them payment. And there's no 'hey we looked at your brake pad thickness', or 'hey we noticed your wipers are shot', or 'hey we topped off your wiper fluid', or 'hey we gave it a quick wash' (etc). Those little servicey-things that other indys -- and even the dealer -- does as a courtesy.
I would recommend these guys if you have a modded vehicle. But I don't, so I've stopped using them. After experiencing the same cons every visit I realized I couldn't see the point in going to a place that essentially costs the same as the dealer, doesn't offer better service and where I get the strong feeling that there would only be downside should some future disagreement occur.Comment from Brad M. of BTM Motorwerks 5/15/2012

I'm on my second Audi A4 with BTM. I've been going there for about 7 years now and I'm glad that I can rely on Brad & Co. to make certain the car stays running. There's never a problem getting an appointment and they always talk me through what they're going to do. My feeling is that they earn their money for the excellent work they do.

I recently purchased a 2007 M6, and was looking for a local shop to do some upgrades. After doing some research, I decided to check out BTM MotorWerks.
For this particular job, I was looking to have my Angel Eyes upgraded from the stock bulbs, to the white AngeliBright units. After talking with AiB, they told me it should take 1/2 to 1 hour of labor depending whether the lights needed to be pulled out (tight squeeze if you don't have really small hands).
Friday, I dropped by BTM right around closing time (5pm), asking if they could do the installation tomorrow. I was given a quote of a 1/2 hour of labor, and an appointment of 9am for next day (Sat).
The shop has multi-bays, and is nice and clean, with a waiting room up front. No wifi, which I recommended to the manager.
By the time I walked down for a cup of coffee at the nearby Jack in the Box, and returned back, the car was ready. My original units were put into the AiB packaging, and given back to me. A half hour, exactly as quoted, and a perfect and clean job.
I am a perfectionist when it comes to my car, and I am very pleased with the professionalism, and quality of work at BTM. Good job Brad, and thank you. -

Came back again a few weeks ago for a 60k checkup as well as new brakes and a new tire. Did a nice job on getting the parts together even for the tire they don't normally carry. Glad they didn't have any issues dealing with the run flats on the Z4. Kind of worried about that since I hear they're a pain and not everyone knows how to deal with those kind of tires.
Will be going back again when I need some maintenance done.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I feel like this place might be misunderstood. Shops can have on and off days. A string of unfortunate events that can leave a bad taste in the customers mouth. Overall, I think these guys are pretty cool. Their pics and even name suggest they don't care to work on your AC or your oil changes. They want to deal with motorsport and this fact oozes from them. If you have a serious race car, these people are your people.

Here's an update since my review last October.
I've had yet another coil problem, and BTM *again* replaced the coil for free. Parts, labor, everything. Completely covered.
The original replacement was over a year ago. Most shops will warrantee work for 90 days at most. BTM's commitment to customer service is fantastic.1 Previous Review: Show all »

While it is clear that Brad and the mechanics at BTM know their cars, I have to admit I had a poor customer service adventure with them. I lived in San Jose briefly and took my Audi to BTM for regular maintenance and specialized service for a front end problem. I am sad to say the problem was not resolved (or even properly identified), communication from the business was poor, and an expensive part was installed without first notifying me it was going to be done. I expressed my economic limitations yet Brad consistently tried to up-sell me unnecessary engine and handling modifications on the car. I ended up taking my car to my regular mechanic in Berkeley (AVS, outstanding!), and they were able to identify and repair the front end problem.
AVS also informed me the part BTM put on was installed incorrectly, causing the item to break. The part had to be replaced for an additional fee. When I asked Brad for a refund, he was extremely reluctant and almost argumentative on the phone.
** On a bright note, when I first brought my Audi to BTM, Brad went out of his way to personally drive me to a car rental place about a mile away as he required keeping my car for a couple days for some repairs. That was great customer service. I want to give props where they're due. **
Overall, I have to say my experience with BTM was sub-par. I know German cars are pricey to maintain, and my little Audi does its part to keep the reputation going. I am a loyal customer when the business earns trust. My experience with BTM caused me to mistrust them and take my business elsewhere. I read other reviews in which customers were completely happy, so perhaps my experiences were unique. I hope that's the case.
Happy motoring.

First time in today. I'm actually looking for a reliable shop to maintain my 04 Mini S. The reason the Mini was going in was because it was time to change the drive belt. High revs would occasionally cause the feeling of slippage. I called around to other European/German auto shops. Since their price was fair,I decided to give them a try. They also race their own cars which I strongly appreciate, because for some reason I want a shop that is passionate about cars (it just adds to their creditability). The shop appears clean and organized and the staff friendly and competent. It is also just off the highway which makes it easy to get to, plus its in the center of shopping areas so you can get out and walk around instead of waiting. The service was done quickly, I got a phone call to come and pick up and so far the Mini is driving strong. They even did a quick multi-point car inspection which was well appreciated. I'll update the review should I have any problems from from the service, but overall I'm pleased and will go back to them again.

I own too many cars to want to want to bother learning servicing the 5 series BMW so Brad was close so I trusted his service for four years.
An intermittent functioning newly installed seat belt that Brad installed
and would replace after two years usage - was charged for windshield fluid after I had previously added within a week, but missed brake fluid levels and a flat spare tire twice. Courtesy transportation and better attention when the car was finished would have been appreciated as
other repair shop we delt with in past that were farther away.
With internet help, have saved $1000 on maintenance this past year.
We will be going Japanese for next vehicle -

Dropped in without an appointment to fix a flat tire after reading the positive reviews, and I have to say I was impressed. Staff was courteous, price was fantastic, and the work was completed extremely quickly. Will definitely come back again for future service.

I took my Audi there to have it worked on. They had the car for 3 weeks and NOT ONCE called to update me on the status of my car. We spend $6,000 on it, and two days after getting the car back, it broke down again!! We took the car back since they guarantee their work, and they had our car for an additional 4 weeks, again, NOT ONCE calling us to update us..My husband went in to check on the car to find out that they were replacing the ENGINE, and didn't bother to consult us or get out consent. I ended up calling and filing a complaint with Diamond Certified, who agreed with me, that their behavior was unacceptable. Thankfully BTM accepted full financial responsibility for the work they did the second time around. We definitely will never take our car back there, for any reason.
