Love this place, the chimichanga is my favorite although if you let it sit (as in you are taking it home to eat) it will get a little soggy by the time you get there so I recommend eating sooner than later. I also really like the quesadillas which are really cheesy and good.

The only thing negative I have to say about the place is now that it has been in A2 for a while I feel like they are becoming complacent. I also have started to see things that I didn't when they first opened like the cook eating his burrito over the prep station. Other than a few minor things like that recently the food has still been good

BTB Burrito is an A-OK quick Mexican fix on the cheap. Nothing fancy, nothing insanely mind blowing but it gets the job done if you want some Americanized Mex eats and you'll leave full, both in tummy and in wallet.

The last meal I grabbed there were nachos when I was feeling like some chips were in order for dinner. They were definitely stacked high with loads of toppings--black beans, ground beef, salsa, cheese, sour cream and guac for 7 bucks. It was SO.MUCH.FOOD. Definitely one to split since nachos don't exactly hold up well for leftovers (unless you have some extra chips handy). Quesadillas will run you between 3 and 5 bucks, tacos around $2-4. Yes, it's cheap, filling eats that are much better than your standard fast food fare but not quite gourmet.

Its location is a bit lamentable if you're not on foot since it's right on State Street and parking can be kind of a pain. Although I've consistently lucked out when I've gone and gotten parking right in front at the meters. They're super fast and the staff is quite friendly. I placed my order for nachos and was out the door in probably about 5 minutes. Not bad for carry out that isn't call ahead.

Yes, you'll do BTB Burrito. You'll do.

Drunk? Got the drunchies and don't want a hangover the next day? go to btb! They're open till 4AM!

Get the deluxe steak nachos, chips on the side, with rice instead of beans, and with habanero sauce. SO GOOD!

The chips are double fried with salt sprinkled on top. It's crunchy and delicious! Salsa is always very fresh and guacamole is to die for. I am not a fan of their beans so I substitute it with their rice. Be careful when you ask for sour cream, becuase their portion of sour cream is "drenched". Steak is always seasoned to perfection.

It's not the most authentic or the best mexican food. But it definitely trumps Moe's, Chipotle, and whatever other chain mexican restaurants in town.

We ordered their delux chicken nachos with no cream cheese and to add more guacamole. This did not happen. On top of that the food is not that flavorful. Little over priced.

Love love love. Cheap, fresh, delicious food. The service could be better sometimes - occasionally the staff seems a bit... pissed off.. at me and at each other, but this is pretty rare. I usually get - deluxe veggie nachos, which are awesome (I recommend getting the toppings separate if you are taking it to-go, or the chips get kind of soggy). Also, I just got the deluxe veggie salad today which prompted this review, because the salad dressing is PHENOMENAL. Idk what the hell it is, but it's tangy and a little bit sweet and goes perfectly with the salad. I also love that they charge on the 25 cents, so no small change! I have been going to BTBs many locations since 2006, and I will continue to go for as long as I live here in Ann Arbor! Couldn't recommend more for students and professionals alike :)

i rate cheap mexican places on different scales. some of them, i rate on quality of ingredients. some, on the quality of the tortilla. others, variety of menu. BTB, in AA, i rate as having the best hot sauce. they're the only ones with a hot sauce that can make me sweat. their menu is pretty good. this is one of my go-to's in AA and a pretty good place to go.

BTB, how I love thee.  Anyone who has seen my yelp profile knows, BTB chicken quesadillas are my last meal if I'm awaiting execution.  This continues with this location.  Some seem to judge it harshly and personally I prefer the Cantina a few blocks away or the now-defunct location on Packard but this hit the spot when I needed it.

I don't always visit Ann Arbor, but when I do, I prefer BTB.

I knew in moving to the Midwest that the quality of my burritos would decline tremendously.  And, on some level, I acknowledged that finding a burrito joint would take more time since they are far less abundant here.

What I didn't realize is that the only burrito places in Ann Arbor seem to be Chipotle imitations.  BTB is no different.  I know it's too much to ask for authenticity in my Ann Arbor Mexican food, but can you at least not drench every item I order in cheese and sour cream?  I'm not trying to cover up the lettuce of my salad with dairy -- I ordered a salad because I like vegetables.

On the bright side, it's a far-too-easy walk from the law school when nothing will cure my bad day but a burrito, sub par as it may be.

I just come here for one thing: the chimichanga.

I also come back here to relive college memories of gluttonous nights filled with consuming large fried burritos with guacamole, cheese, and salsa. In my mind, it's the best burrito sized Mexican egg roll I've had. It's not going to be the best fare ever, but it worked for college.

My bf and I enjoy the deluxe steak chimichanga. When I was in college, I was also a fan of the $3.75 veggie burrito.

Most recently, I had average service. Unfortunately, the last time I went, I asked for the hot green sauce w/ my veggie chimi and they forgot to give it to me. I'm hoping this was just a flub and that next time I'm in Ann Arbor, I'll be able to enjoy the full experience.

I am somewhat of a burrito aficionado and this is among the worst I've tried.

It was late.  My friends and I were walking past and we had the munchies so we figured what the hell.  I got a steak burrito and my friend the veg burrito.  We ate them as we walked down the street in the night.  They were gross, bland, and barely room temperature.  The steak was tough, dried out beyond belief, bland, and old.  The rice was like Uncle Ben's but more bland, and the hot sauce was like chipotle ketchup.  It felt like there was a lot of sodium in there.  Gross.  And WAY too expensive for something that seems like a big step below Chipotle.

I took my half-finished burrito and slammed it onto the concrete sidewalk as we walked past the stadium.  My friend went with this plan and threw his burrito as high up into the air as he could and it came down with a splat.  We laughed our asses off at the gross, exploded food.  And kept walking into the night.

    Oh, the downfall of BTB!

This place used to be such a reliable, cheap lunchtime option. No more.
    - Before, unlimited additions; now, three items.
    - Before, when I ask them to give me the actually hot hot sauce, they listen; now, my requests are simply ignored.
    - Before, the rice and beans seem properly cooked; now, I've gotten undercooked versions of both.
    - Before, that guy who always wears the Cubs hat is there at the counter, being friendly and competent; now, the people who work there lack both.

    Chipotle, you've won.

[Addendum: BTB probably still beats Moe's and places at that level. It just doesn't do it for me anymore, given the availability of Chipotle's. I thought I saw the three items thing at Cantina, and I'd be happy to be corrected if that's not the case. BTB's prices still can't be beat, though, if all you want is vegetarian burrito without guacamole, or dishes even more minimalist than that.]

By the third bite, I closed my eyes.  Lucid visions flashed before me of a hospital waiting room.  Somewhere off in the distance, a small child's cries cut off swiftly and plaintively.  The allegory was as rich as the food was devoid of substance.  This is truly a culinary abortion.

For its price, BTB is a great place to grab a quick bite. You can get a quesadilla for four dollars, a burrito with guac for six dollars.

I like their chips and queso. The queso has a nice kick to it. If you have to pick a meet, go with the grilled chicken. Nicely grilled, tender and good flavor. Also, if you like spicy, add the diablo sauce on to your food. It gives a nice kick to everything and, although extremely spicy the first time, you will get used to it and love it afterward! The steak here doesn't have a lot of beef flavor and is usually chewy and can be hit and miss with the seasoning. If you want a nice steak burrito go to Chipotle!

From my experience, BTB tends to be a love/hate, black/white phenomenon - people are either deeply entrenched in love or fully repulsed with hate. I find myself to be one of those who is madly in love.

I have been going to BTB for a little over 4 years now and cannot say that I have been disappointed a single time. Although, I must admit - sometimes they don't strain the black beans well before placing them on the tortilla, leading to a sogfest. Solution? ASK THEM TO "STRAIN MY BEANS!"

The prices are untouchable, especially if you are a vegetarian ($3.75 for a wildly filling burrito). The customizability of your burrito is extravagant (I tend to get the vegetarian, pinto beans instead of black beans, whole wheat tortilla, green hot sauce and sour cream).

All in all, there is none of that processed bad taste that I would associate with Chipotle, Qdoba, and Panchero's. BTB is down home and great quality.

No one here who rated this place as a 4 or a 5 has ever had a legitimate burrito. I feel bad for you.

BTB is pretty good when you're drunk/high and pretty bad otherwise. None of their burrito ingredients taste fresh or have flavor. Their tortillas are average, too. Everything is just bland. I've tried it 3 times and been "meh" every time. Panchero's tries a little harder and Pacific Beach Burritos is the place to go if you want real Mexican food.

edit: tried the "Fire and Ice" burrito and was pleasantly surprised. Quesadillas are okay too. This place is the definition of average. Me gusta.

I really wish I loved BTB, because they are always open and the locations are close to the law school. But I can't get over how mediocre all of their food is. The only thing I can order there anymore is the quesadilla, because their rice and beans are bland and the meat is usually overcooked. Of course, last time I went they put some weird cheese sauce into the cheese quesadilla, making it taste pretty gross. How do you possibly screw up a cheese quesadilla??? Somehow BTB did. I'll hit this place up out of desperation late at night, but a sober assessment says this place is 2/5 stars.

BTB is the best - much much better than Panchero's! It's an Ann Arbor staple that you cannot miss. I first tried BTB because their hours are great. We went there after a night of bar hopping when everything else was closing down. It was so good that we insisted on going back the next day, and there we were at 11AM on a Sunday morning eating Mexican. Their gaucamole, salsa, and sour cream are the best!

After kicking myself multiple times for not remembering the summer hours for btb in east lansing, I found myself presented with the opportunity to satisfy my hankering for a chickendilla with hot sauce-- although in Ann Arbor-- not my preferred EL.

Shamelessly giddy as I walked through the doors, I marched up to the counter and placed my order. Within minutes I was handed a bag with a semi-friendly, "There ya go."

Too excited to wait until I got home, I ripped open the bag and full blown panic set in... Did they think I ordered a burrito? My friend immediately calmed my nerves by saying, that's how they make it-- they just kind of roll it all up.

    Oh.

Rationalizing with myself that it is the ingredients that provide the taste not the appearance I try my first bite.

    oh.

... little bit of a disappointment. I definitely like btb in East Lansing MUCH better..

but, because of the namesake, I have to give this place a 3 star rating. Hey, can't bite the hand that feeds ya.

Oh BTB, how you satisfy my drunken cravings for fast tasty mexican! Unfortunately I only had a chance to eat at this place once I had left UofM, otherwise I would be there every night! Their ingredients are fresh, and the food is always pipping hot even on cold days! And it's mega cheap, perfect for college kids that have no money and for the rest of us who have no money b/c the economy sucks!

I love getting the steak or chicken burritto or nachos with EVERYTHING especially extra jalapenos and hot sauce..... mmmm.

One time I was fasting so I had to eat vegetarian, and i couldn't believe that it still tasted awesome!

Although the joint has slim to no seating, that's kind of the charm of the place.... it's more fun to devour your burrito while chillin on the curb w/ a group of friends on a summer night anyways!

This is the best place to go on your way home from a night out. Not only because it's open til 4am on weekends (always a plus!), but because there's delicious mexican food, seating, and you always meet nice people. Recently i moved into a house that is only a five minute walk from there. So of course i grab BTB at every chance i get! Probably not good for my health, but so delicious.
All of their burritos are great, but for being a burrito place, i love the quesadillas. Yes, i've tried quesadillas at all mexican joints...they're just so good! But BTBs are especially tasty. I also love that they have two types of chicken to choose from.

BTB, you saved me again last night!

This is really the place to go for a burrito if you're downtown. Home of "two-meal" type giant burritos, BTB is fast, super-cheap and open until the wee hours. It's perfect after-bar food, but also a place to get a quick bite between classes if you're over near this edge of campus anyhow. I happen to live few blocks away, so it's sort of an ol' standby at this point.

If you do go after the bar closes -- say Thurs-Sat. 2:15-3:30 am, be prepared for a line out the door (the interior dining and waiting space is tiny), and annoying drunk people on cellphones trying to elbow in front of you in line.  Stand your ground and you'll be fine. They mean no harm, they're just drunk (as you probably are at this point as well), and just desperately want to get to the burrito goodness up at the counter.

And it IS goodness. The portions are huge, and all of the ingredients taste unprocessed and identifiable, unlike with some burrito chains.

My recent favorite: The vegan plate is a huge container of food (rice, black beans, pinto beans, salsa, guacamole) for only four bucks.  Add on some chips for one dolla more, and you're got yourself a feast (potentially for two), whether you're vegan or not!

I'm from Spartan country myself, but I visited a friend in Ann Arbor and we ended up at the BTB Cantina. He knew I was a fan of Big Ten Burrito in East Lansing (which has since closed), so he figured this would be a perfect spot for me.

Unlike EL, A2 isn't greedy with their liquor licenses. Combine a classic BTB meal of burritos or nachos with decent-tasting margaritas? You don't have to ask me twice!

We visited on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty empty. Which was perfect considering we wanted to sit around and catch up while nibbling on nachos and sipping our margaritas. The counter staff were also quite accommodating when they figured out I was a first-timer and helped me pick out a fantastic frozen margarita.

This is probably the best Mexican [definitely Americanized] food I've had in AA so far. Went to Pancheros on S. U. and was disgusted by their burrito bowl and chips & guac. I cannot believe people in AA go crazy over it.
Anywho, I got the shredded chicken burrito bowl [my fav] and was blown away by how yummy it was. And how spicy the hot sauce is. For 5 bucks, the burrito bowl is not a bad deal.

When I moved, the first night I went out I asked the bouncer to recommend the best late-night Mexican place in town. His only suggestion was Taco Bell. I immediately regretted my move.

BTB was on my way home from the bars, class, and work. It was always fairly busy, peaking on football Saturdays and any night after midnight. Even still, the guys cranked out quesos and burritos like nobody's business. With no line, you can be in and out within 5 minutes. I also like how their prices include tax, so you aren't dealing with change. Easier for them and for you.

I also really like the nachos here, HOWEVER I always get the chips separate because if you order the nachos and then walk home, by the time you open up the box the chips are all soggy. I think they actually give you more nacho toppings. The one time I had a burrito here I didn't really like it...so I stick to the chicken quesadillas and nachos.

The owners are great, and have sponsored a couple clubs on campus (namely the boys' club soccer team). I think they have the ability and reputation to expand to other campuses and do really well.

I think calling it BTB Burrito is kind of weird, since those of us who have been going since its opening know it's technically now called "Big Ten Burrito Burrito" but I will always refer to it as Big Ten or BTB. Lawsuits are overrated.

Drunk in Ann Arbor? Is it 2am and the bars just closed? Staff from Qdoba and Chipotle have been long asleep and counting sheep?

Go to BTB - you will find that they make a mouth watering burrito or nachos with all the right ingredients! Get it with everything on it and drench it in hot sauce! And the great thing is - it's still probably healthier than eating your fill of Bell's Pizza. I haven't been to BTB in about a year - but next time I barhop in Ann Arbor - you'll find me waiting in line there. Not much seating inside but just go eat outside with some friends over some drunken conversation. On a summer night - nothin' beats that anyway.

Whenever I get BTB, it's always really tasty.  But it never ever sounds good, even as I'm walking in to the restaurant.  Even now as I review it, it doesn't sound good.  Maybe it's that when I lived in Albuquerque, I got spoiled and now expect too much out of midwestern Mexican food.  Maybe it's the BTB from the convenience store on North Campus that's particularly terrible.  Maybe it's the annoyance of having to wait for your take-out order in the cramped little restaurant on State Street.

But even when it doesn't sound good, it ends up being good.  BTB is really a toss-up for me.  It's better than Panchero's, which has gone downhill as of late.  Yet, it's not quite at the level of Moe's.

One thing I know for sure is that BTB is never a disappointment.  You get a ton of food for a pretty low price.  And, it's open late.  That's always a bonus.

This really is the best burrito place in Ann Arbor.

If your idea of a good burrito is something from a sit down Mexican American restaurant or from Taco Bell, filled with greasy cheese, re-fried beans, and ground beef, then you might not like BTB.

However, if you like fresh salsa, black beans, guacamole, veggies, real chicken and steak, then you will probably love this place.

I love the deluxe vegetarian burrito and the vegan plate with chips.  The burritos are so big, I can only eat half in one sitting, which means I get two meals for under $5!!

This place is very small with only one large table for seating, so I would recommend ordering something to go.  The staff is very nice, especially if you're a regular.

OK, OK, so this is going to be an unreasonably harsh critique of a perfectly decent burrito joint.  Read with a grain of salt (preferably on the rim of a margarita).

This was my first BTB experience, though I eat and drink downstairs at Charley's every week.

When I entered, the place appeared to be practically empty.  Great!  This would clearly be a quick and easy lunch.  Right?........

There was a gaggle of young burrito-makers in the kitchen and scurrying around the cash register....they weren't goofing off, they were really working hard, but they seemed frantic and overwhelmed, considering the place was not crowded--like maybe this is the first time they were left alone without a manager or supervisor.

As a collective, they seemed to make one burrito (total) at a time.  Which would be fine, except for the table of 10 scientists, only 5 of which had received their food when I placed my order.  Every 2-3 minutes, another order would be called--around the restaurant, heads would be raised hopefully, only to see yet another scientist heading toward the counter, as his colleagues cleared their already empty plates.

By the time my burrito rolled around (took more than 10 minutes), there were 7 of us, perched individually at tables around the restaurant like vultures, eyeing the counter.

As I picked up my burrito, the harried burrito-boy asked another hovering customer what he was waiting on and, I swear to you, the guy couldn't remember what he'd ordered.

But for me, at last, it was lunchtime!  And the burritos come with chips and salsa.  A nice touch!  Pero, the chips are very meh (not to mention alarmingly yellow) and the salsa was  a disappointment.  It LOOKED fantastic--bright and fresh and pico de gallo-y, just how I like it.  But this rooster was not biting: there was not a single pepper or pepperish thing in there.  Now, not everyone likes their salsa picante, and that's fine.  But this was basically tomato salad.  A waste of perfectly good cilantro!

To the heart of the matter: my burrito itself.  Very tasty.  I don't really like Chipotle or Qdoba, and preferred my shredded chicken deluxe to burritos of yore from both of these places. Also weighed about 5 lbs.  Good value for the money, though this raises another issue: transportation.

This is going to sound like a really obnoxiously picky "but," ...BUT....my tortillla was SO strong that I couldn't cut through it.  I knew I could eat only about half of my burrito for lunch and was glad that I'd get another meal (or at least a snack) out  of it later today.  But I had to hack at the stretchy tortilla so much that I shredded the foil wrapper, leaving myself no good way to carry the -ito of my burrito with me.  And while I was at it, I splattered myself in the face with guacamole, which was a little embarrassing.

Perhaps this was just nature's way of punishing me for even trying to eat a burrito with a fork, and certainly no one ever promised that a burrito would travel as easily as the pack animal from which it takes its name (or is that precisely what its name is supposed to promise us...?) Nevertheless.  I feel like this was much more difficult than it needed to be.

On the upside--they have plastic cups out for water (thank you!) and I used one for drinking, and one to transport my burrito remains.  The story has a happy ending, and I'll finish my burrito later, before I go to Charley's for my Thursday happy hour!

So....it was a solid burrito, but an inconvenient lunch.  I'd come back, but I'd probably sample other burrito joints first, if only for salsa with some kick to it.

Big ten, where do I begin? Well first, let me sit down and hold your hand. I want to talk to you dear BT about following me around the country. The people in philadelphia need you, I swear they told me and there is a position.

If you're downtown a2, need a burrito that you think you can finish and want to steer from qdoba/chipotle etc- this is your place. It's simple, it's fresh and it has never steered my dear tummy wrong. I've spent many times grabbing a burrito and driving home with one hand, I've never sat down on your picnic table- but it always seemed inviting.

I love BTB with all my heart, but WHY did they switch to canned tomatoes? I welcomed the other unhealthy changes (greasier rice, stewed beans) over the past 5 years, but this one is a bummer.

    Was this review …?

To everyone from everywhere west of say, Colorado, THERE ARE NO GOOD BURRITOS IN MICHIGAN.

Just like, THERE IS NO GOOD NY STYLE PIZZA IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA.

Given this, BTB is the best you're going to get.

Also, Eff you Big Ten Association, for coming after BTB!!
    GREAT hours too.

Every time when I have a burrito, I think to myself, "Nothing beats the burritos at BTB!"  I live in the Bay Area where burritos are a dime a dozen, but surprisingly none of the taquerias and burrito joints that I've been to can compare to BTB.  I don't know what is the secret ingredient that BTB uses but the burritos are so flavorful and juicy.  They are packed with plenty of rice and bean.  The salsa is fresh with real chunks of onion, tomato and green pepper.  The diced meat are so juicy and tender.  Thinking about it really stirs up my craving for it.

The place is small though with barely enough space for you to walk up to the counter and order your food.  It can get a little rowdy at night especially with the drunken frat boys.  I usually get one to go since the sitting space are very limited.

Such an irony that a place in Ann Arbor has better burritos than most in the Bay Area.  Hopefully someday I'll find a better burrito place in the Bay so I don't have to use BTB as an excuse to go back to MI.

Not a bad burrito. Nothing to write home about, but also better than your average Chipotle or Panchero's.

I don't like the burritos at BTB.  The meat is just ok, the beans are not that tasty, and their salsa offerings are limited.

I'm a burrito snob.  I come from Colorado.  I like fresh salsas, varieties of quality meat in addition to the standard burrito inputs.  The main reason I designated BTB a measly two stars is to combat the intense hype surrounding the place.  I think people mainly enjoy it when they're drunk, which distorts their good judgement.

I love lots of people who love Big Ten Burrito. But I myself do not share the love.

I think the staff, location, and hours are great, but the smallest thing I can order is too much burrito for little me, and I don't dig the flavors - I find the veggie and chicken versions decidedly bland, not to be saved by adding sauce. I am proving to be a law school grinch, I know.

When I was eating in San Francisco over the summer and ordered alcohol at breakfast (What! It was a mimosa!), the waiter who IDed me saw my Ann Arbor address and told me he designed the BTB logo. It's a good logo. I was glad they made the little problem with the Big Ten conference go away and didn't have to change their name.

I didn't get this place, or the following for it, for the longest time.  Every time someone mentioned going there I rolled my eyes, because I never saw the appeal that BTB had on people.  Was it convenience?  Was it the 'cool' factor?  I just didn't get it.  Almost every visit was spent waiting in lines with drunk frat guys, and the food was mediocre at best.

Then I found the deep fried goodness of the chicken chimichanga.  A big burrito filled with cheese, salsa, rice, beans and chicken, then deep fried and paired with a side of sour cream and MORE cheese.  I'm pretty sure it's more calories than I am supposed to eat in a day, and that's OK with me.  Their chips and salsa are pretty decent too, but nothing to write home about.

Prices are reasonable, but overall I compare this place to Qdoba and Chipolte.  I think I like Pancheros better, but again, all of them seem the same.  I don't get the hype here... I think it's because probably over half of their business is done at night, when all of the students are walking around drunk with the munchies.  Dude, when you're drunk, everything tastes good.

I eat here 3-4 times a month, so it'd be ridiculous of me to give it a score below a 3.  It's good, fresh food that's served up very quickly.  If you don't have a lot of time to eat (say, because you only have 20 minutes before class), this is a great option.

There are some negatives.  There's barely any room to sit.  I've had better burritos elsewhere (although not in A2).  That's about it.

It's a good place when you need something quick and dirty.  'Nuff said.

There's a reason why this place is always packed during all times of the day....it's cheap, filling, and tasty.

I usually order any item deluxe...to get the sour cream and extra goodies.  I bounce back and forth between the steak burrito and steak nacho's deluxe.  Always ask for the green hot sauce!  It's delish...

You have to think to yourself before you walk in to here....are you drunk? Is it past 2am? Is this a good idea? If the answers to all the above are YES, then you better make sure you stop in to this busy burrito spot and grab some food to go. It is highly convenient, busy and beats Panchero's chain-made burrito any day of the week.

I'm especially fond of the extensive menu and of course, the tolerance of the staff when I walk in, can't make up my mind, and they understand that I've been at the bar for the last 5 hours.
