Best dentist I've ever been to thus far! The receptionists are warm, friendly, and fun-filled. The assistants are really kind and funny as well.
I had Dr. Zeus who was great! She's very professional and still friendly enough for you to feel super comfortable. I normally hate dentist appointments, but I always looked forward to hers. They fixed my teeth up with no complications and I've been good since.
I recommend this place for any and everyone with teeth issues. I'll never go to another dentist. This is my spot for life. -

I hate dentists most of the time, mostly out of their condescending attitude. Dr. Haynes is not one of those dentists. He is extremely nice, reasonably priced, and does not talk down to people who have poor oral hygiene. Dr. Haynes is extremely nice as is his front staff, and I always feel comfortable going there. I would recommend anyone who has anxiety towards dentistry going to Dr. Haynes. I needed oral surgery and he recommended me to a very great oral surgeon. I promise that you will not be disappointed, and I thank everyone who works there for their great demeanor.

After moving to the Bay Area from Montreal, I was on the hunt for a good dentist who was accepted by my Anthem Tonik dental plan. Cross referencing the list of who I could see and who rated well on Yelp I landed on Dr. Haynes (the only dentist who had atleast 3 stars).
Yes, his office isn't the most modern, but consider this:
1. Dr Haynes does the cleanings himself rather than contracting it out to another hygenist etc.. This is a dentist who works "in the trenches".
2. Yes, you may have to wait briefly since it's him running the show, but given how much time he's spending peering into your mouth, you likely get a better assessment of what's going on with your teeth and any issues that need to be resolved.
...Or you can go to a dentist who will see you for maybe 5 minutes at each cleaning. Parking was easy, very friendly staff, easy to get appointments and they mail out reminder cards. I think the merits of Dr. Haynes and his dental office are clear and would recommend him if you are searching for a dentist.
A brief ending note: they have binders full of all of their insurance information at the front desk. You could probably just call the office directly and let them know what plan you have to find out if he's covered rather than digging through and searching your website. -

The location is off Powell street, with a little parking lot behind the unassuming, awkwardly-shaped beige building. It's a bit confusing, but the entrance is in the back where the parking was, not the front.
Other than the convenience factor (a few blocks from work and the early and late hours), I really like the staff. I didn't have to wait too long to be seen, unlike other offices. Dr. Zeus is a total sweet heart. She has a way of easing your pain and distress. Although, I felt like there was a lot more water droplets flying around that usual, but it's no biggie. The appointment was over before I knew it. My last one only took 30 minutes, from cleaning, polishing to examination. Maybe it was because my teeth were already pretty clean, according to Dr. Zeus. She was also very patient with my questions.
I no longer dread going to the dentist because of the long waits, inattentive/inexperienced staff, and surprise fees. This...coming from someone who has gone through at least 8 dentists over the years until I found Dr. Zeus. I have plenty of horror stories to tell, my friend... -

Agree that he is one of the best dentists I have ever had. It is always easy to get an appointment, all the staff are friendly and make your visit as easy as possible, and he takes great care of your teeth without trying to sell you on any un-needed or un-warranted services. I've been to other dentists who will do un-needed services just so they can bill and get the extra money from your insurance. Dr. Haynes is an honest and amazing dentist who cares about your dental health, not the return he gets on your visit.
I recently moved to the city and I still make the trip to Emeryville to see him every six months. -

I hadn't been to the dentist in a ridiculously long time (10+ years). I'm new to the east bay so yelped dentists and this practice had 5 stars from nearly every reviewer. I've been seeing Dr. Zeuss. She is amazing. Everyone in there is! Honestly. I didn't realize there was a group of dentists. When I was told I was seeing Dr. Zeuss, rather than Dr. Haynes I was a little disappointed. But not after the first visit. I've been 5 times in a little over 2 weeks (don't go ten years, take care of your teeth, get those 6 mo. cleanings). Amazingly calm and gentle woman/dentist. The assistants and the office staff are just as friendly and sweet. It's a small practice in a small building that doesn't have any of the fancy schmancy new fangled equipment like headphones and TVs, etc. If I could give more stars, I would.

These guys are the best! I've seen Dr. Zeus, who is sweet, smart, and put me totally at ease. It's also a great perk that they accept Delta Dental PPO. Plus, it's in a surprisingly cute area of Emeryville, right at the Oakland/Berkeley border.
I would definitely recommend this office to anyone looking for a great dentist. -

I use Yelp religiously when making decisions about where to spend my time and money, and it really came in handy when it was time for me to choose a local dentist. This is not a decision I take lightly, and Yelp came through. After reading stellar reviews of Dr. Haynes, I decided I'd see them for my overdue annual cleaning. I could not have been happier--every single person in the office was fantastic, from the receptionists/office admins to the dentists. I saw Dr. Santos, Dr. Zeus and Dr. Haynes in one visit, and all were friendly, forthcoming with information, eager to answer any questions I had, comforting, and helpful. I have never had such a good experience at any doctor's office, ever. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs a dentist in the Bay area.

Called yesterday to make an appointment for a routine checkup and cleaning as a new patient. The person who answered the phone was great - friendly and very helpful, and I was able to score an appointment for the very next day.
When I got there today, there was plenty of street parking and I was again greeted by very friendly staff. I didn't have to wait at all and my appointment started right on time. The dentist, I think her name was Dr. Christina, was wonderful. She walked me through everything she was doing and she did a lot of extra little checkup procedures that my previous dentist didn't do (checking all my gums, the sides of my tongue, etc.).
Very happy I've found my new dentist. Would recommend to anyone looking for a new dentist, even if you don't live in Emeryville, I would say it's worth a little driving for this service. -

I went back to Dr. Haynes to get a filling during my 2nd trimester of pregnancy. They were careful not to do any x-rays, and he assured me that I wouldn't need anesthesia because of the method he was using. I was skeptical because I have sensitive teeth, but he was right! Didn't feel any pain, and was in and out in under an hour. Amazing.

Getting here wasn't hard although I had hard time finding the place because the building didn't have any name on it... unless I just totally missed it.
Dentist was awesome and very honest. like it.

I've been going to Dr. Haynes for the past 2-3 years now. He's always friendly and puts in a lot of time and care to my needs. The staff is all friendly and great too.
The only complaint and problem I have that actually has caused a lot of problems is that they seem to have so many patients that it's really difficult to get appointments when you need them, especially if you need something sooner than 2 weeks away. I wish they could allocate a few emergency slots a week for those instances. -

The Best Dentist, and the MOST gentlest Dentist in the Universe is Dr. Bryan Haynes, and every member of his staff. Marla, May, Aritta, Dr. Amani, and Dr. Zeus are all fine examples of how you will want to be cared for when you go to the Dentist. I give them the highest praise. Great dentist for the Emeryville area. I highly suggest this place, and am glad I don't need to find another dentist. I've gone in for a cleaning twice now. There is a dental hygienist who also assists with doing the cleaning so who ends up actually doing the cleaning is random. However, Dr. Haynes cleaned my teeth for the full 30-minutes personally each time. (and the hygienist was on another patient). My coworker had the hygienist though for his own cleaning, and said it was a good experience as well.
He's a nice guy who's very relaxed. He definitely knows his stuff so ask him if you are having any problems or have any concerns. -

I went to this dentist from 2002-2004. His staff was extremely gentle and super thorough when cleaning my teeth. They flossed your teeth for you too. My fillings were always done properly. Probably one of the best dentists I've had.
He moved his office and hired some other dentists which werent nearly as good as him, so -1 star for that. -

I just came back from this dental office.
My dentist was Dr. Cristina.
What a sweet, lovely and professional dentist I ever seen!!
And other staffs were very nice, kind and friendly.
You will feel really comfortable :-)
They will give you a good advice (braces, implants, bridge, whatever you might need for your better teeth), BUT they never try to sell you anything. It is so comfortable.
If you are seeking a new dentist. This is it. :-) -

Thank you Yelpers!! When I went looking for a new dentist in my area you pointed me to Dr. Haynes and you guys were spot on!
I've had several appointments over the past month and each time I leave thinking to myself, "That wasn't so bad!". I typically dread going to the dentist so this is just awesome.
Like others have said, the staff if really friendly. Dr. Haynes and Dr. Santos are both very professional and gentle.
They take Delta Dental Insurance as well.
I am glad to have found my new dentist. -

Very good dentist.
I was referred to Dr. Haynes by a co-worker and was not disappointed. He and his staff are very courteous and informative.
His office is located in a weird location (an odd triangular building at the intersection of two streets), but don't let that put you off, it was more spacious in there than I expected, looking from the outside. The reception area is a little small, but not the smallest I've been to. Once inside, I was glad the actual cleaning was done by Dr. Haynes himself. This isn't always the case, as it wasn't with the last few dentists I've been to (I'm not sure if it's always the case here, but it was when I was there). He was informative and pleasant to talk to.
All-in-all, I would recommend Dr. Haynes to anyone in the Emeryville area looking for a good dentist who knows what they are doing and has the time to provide you with personal care... at least some times..hehe -

Dr. Haynes is the best dentist I have ever had. I don't like going to the dentist, who does?? With Dr. Haynes I don't mind going at all. He is very very gentle and sensitive. I have never felt uncomfortable there. I would recommend him to anyone!!
The staff is friendly as well.. every year I get a nice Christmas card from them and everything. They also call you a day in advance to remind you of your appointment... which I need!
Go to Dr. Haynes you won't be disappointed. -

I found Dr. Haynes office here on yelp and I am glad I did. I have been going to this office for about three years and I am very happy with the service. I have seen three different doctors Dr Haynes, a women, and another guy (do not know his name) but he is really friendly. I have been seeing the last Doctor for the past year. Just made an appointment today and can not wait to go get my teeth cleaned.

I'll admit I was suspicious when I read through this list of overwhelmingly positive reviews. A dentist, 5 stars? Really?
However, after a few visits there, I was made a believer. The place is run like a business, meaning that -- gasp -- they act as though I am a client whose business they must work to keep... From the front desk staff to the hygienists to the dentists, these really are top-notch people who are all genuinely kind and personable and who made every visit (sadly, my cavities made multiple visits a necessity) pleasant.
Extremely competent handling of insurance. Gave me detailed quote of expected expenses upfront, and (even more impressive) were more than reasonable in helping me when an unexpected hitch arose.
All in all, GO HERE! -

I had such a great experience at the dentist's office...I can't believe I'm saying this! Having just moved to the area, I didn't have the first clue about where to get my tooth pain checked out. So, of course, i turned to Yelp!
I called the office at 12pm and the receptionist was very accommodating, giving me a same day appointment at 4pm. I immediately felt comfortable walking in to the office as a new patient. Dr. Cristina spent a good amount of time talking to me, looking at my teeth, and made me feel
relaxed. She also had Dr. Haynes come in to try to figure out what was causing my pain.We all came to the conclusion that I could be clenching and grinding my teeth while sleeping. After some quick impressions, I was making an appointment to pick up my new mouth guard on Saturday! There could be a few other possibilities, but for now we are trying this out. So happy to have met caring professionals that have made me feel welcome in Oakland/Emeryville! Yay, I found my dentist! -

Dr Haynes has been my dentist for 10 years and its been a great experience. I truly dig his staff and him for giving great customer service. I usually have two cleaning/checkup appointments with him per year. They give me a call the day before my appointment to remind me. The wait time is always less than 5 minutes. They even give me a free toothbrush, toothpaste, and some floss when I am leaving. Dr Haynes and is staff are easy to talk to and quite accessible.

I'm 27 and I just had the most thorough dentist visit I have ever had. My appt was with Dr. Ramon Santos-he only works Wednesdays I think. I had a cleaning, x-rays and an exam, but he also checked my mouth for oral cancer and felt my jaw I guess because I grind my teeth at night and he explained everything he did as he was doing it. Towards the end of my appt Dr Haynes came in to just check my teeth out and he was really laid back and explained why I have sensitivity in my teeth and concurred with what Dr. Santos had explained. I never felt like they were trying "sell" me anything and they were all (including the front desk staff) very nice and accomodating. GREAT dentists office! I don't know if Dr. Haynes even see's patients, but all of the other dentists seem to be great.

I highly recommend him.
The building is a strange shape inspired perhaps by the Casper's hotdog architecture on Telegraph, but don't let that deter you! He's like visiting the Dentist back when you were a kid (and your mom made all your appointment 6 months out to the date).
He is gentle, knows his stuff, friendly, and a great dentist. He's a, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of guy. You know he's always suggesting what is best for you, and cares about his patients and their dental hygiene & health.
I've always been the type of person that wants to know BIOLOGICALLY what is going on (doctors, etc), and he explained information about genetics, early childhood development and physiology to me. I found this to be very refreshing and interesting, and it makes it, for me, a great experience. He's very knowledgeable, and makes you feel very comfortable.
He was a courteous man; imagine old school gentleman and you've got Dr. Haynes. -

I have never seen Dr. Haynes for care, always Dr. Cristina -- I can't remember her last name -- maybe it's Zeus. She has always provided the best dental care I've ever had. She is very thorough and has a great "bedside manner." Everybody in the office is nice and professional. Other than the great care, I think my favorite thing about the office is the small wire sculpture on the reception desk of a dentist holding a patient down with his foot and pulling a tooth out with bolt cutters. It cracks me up every time.

For the first time ever...I look FORWARD to going to the dentist.
I have a strong fear of the dentist, due to several negative experiences I've had, starting in childhood.
Dr. Haynes is gentle, caring, and very willing to explain any procedure and answer all my questions in a relatable way. Very smart and personable.
The staff is helpful and welcoming, and the facilities are super-clean and relaxing. I loove the "Watercolors" satellite radio station they play..makes the place even more comfortable. Just an all-around GREAT dentist. -

The staff here is kind and gentle. I had a filling done on my last visit. It was the first filling I have had done in more than 15 years. It was done with NO pain killing chemicals and NO PAIN! Amazing. I love going to the dentist, but I am certain that people who are uncomfortable with dental procedures would love Dr Haynes as well. Check this place out. Promise.

I have been visiting Dr. Haynes office since 1997. I can't say enough wonderful things about the staff and Dr Haynes. I have moved cities and gone to a couple other dentists over the years, and each time realized how lucky I am to have found Dr. Haynes. I have even driven from Palo Alto and San Francisco to avoid the scary dentists. Yes, the team is exceptionally friendly and gentle like the other reviews say, but the best part is Dr. Haynes will not give you unnecessary dental work, in fact he has worked with me to find the most conservative alternatives to bridge work. It has astonished other dentists, but it has held up for over 10 years, and I have my teeth in tact. Dr. Haynes is also wonderful conversationalist on topics ranging from skiing to art, which makes the time go by very quickly.

I'm pretty cynical about dentists, as I've been ripped off by so many of them claiming I need 20 fillings when I didn't at all. But this is by far the best service I've ever gotten at a dentist's--there are Saturday hours which is a huge plus for me, and they even do appointments online. I say the high reviews are quite justified here. The staff was very attentive about my needs and everything was explained thoroughly to me--and I didn't get that nagging feeling that I was getting ripped off for a variety of reasons. Dr. Haynes didn't treat me but his staff was pretty great, and this place deserves its great reviews!
