Review from K T.

There are not enough words to describe this place. Do not let the location fool you! While it is not at a vineyard ... this place is all you need! The wine was hands down the best we have had in Elkin (and I have been on the wine tours 3 times in the past 2 years).
Ann & Matthew (the owners) take the cake .. I could have stayed for hours listening to all the stories about the wine, their lives and the history of Elkin. If we could all be so lucky as to have a relationship that has stood the test of time like theirs. Never have I been to a winery that I felt so warm and happy (or was that the wine talking??) ... well, anyway ....
The wine is amazing. I did not feel pressured to buy anything, but still left with 5 bottles! We loved the Bugaboo, but if you want to splurge a little, I highly recommend the Chatham Reserve Red Wine... mmmmmm. We even left with a bottle of their Pour Mon Amour Dessert Wine ... and I am not a sweet wine person. It is tasty!
I can not recommend Brushy Mountain Winery enough. We will be back! -

We were there on locals night and they made us feel as though we were locals ourselves. Very friendly atmosphere and very entertaining. We could have stayed for hours, but had a dinner reservation that we had to make. If you go through Yadkin Valley you must stop here for nice wines and charm.

Review from Danni D.
This is a tasting room in the heart of downtown Elkin. What the location lacks in vista views and visible vines, it more than makes up for with the charm and wit of the lovely couple who run the business. Meeting them was absolutely a highlight of my trip to Yadkin County.
This was one of the nicest wine tastings I've ever attended. With each pour, my friend and I were treated to colorful local stories about how particular wines got their names. It was so much fun!
And the wine names are whimsical - Booger Swamp White and Bugaboo Creek Red to name a couple. Apparently Booger Swamp was even featured on the Tonight Show some years back. How's that for some local lore?
I highly recommend visiting Brushy Mountain the next time you're in Elkin. If you're there during the week when the rest of downtown is open, all the better.Listed in: Adventures in North Carolina

I have never agreed with a person more than Danni D. Every single comment she made about Brushy Mountain I concur with and would like to reiterate again. Do not let the outward appearance, or the downtown area make you turn your head. You will be hating yourself if you do not end up here. At first glance the downtown area in which this place is located when we got there was pretty empty. A ghost town even, and I was pretty nervous about going in. I have never ever been so wrong in my life.
The lady who served us, is like your grandmother who you love so much because she is fun, funny, and just really cares about.. well wine and being happy. Even now when I think of Ann (the shop owner and the person who served us) I cannot help but smile, laugh and want to meet her again. Her smile and her presence was so heart warming it honestly makes me laugh just thinking about our wine flight with her.
I honestly can say their wine was the best I have ever tasted. Hands down, no arguments. I do not like red wine, I actually detest red wine and avoid if I can. However, their Booger Swamp Red won me over to the dark side. I never ever thought I would actually enjoy a red wine. Nevermind actually want to buy a bottle of it to bring home with me. Their Raspberry wine paired with a piece of dark chocolate made me think I was eating a chocolate covered raspberry. It was an amazing experience. I understand how they won a competition with their raspberry wine. Lastly, their dessert wine Sweet Lou was intoxicating to say the least. I typically do not like dessert wine so much. Again, Brushy Mountain is changing how I view wine. Their Sweet Lou, named after their grandmother was absolutely divine. You could taste the muscat grapes as if you just plucked it from the vine and popped it into your mouth.
Though it was a winery and not a vineyard the service, the wine and their quality made the experience the best I had in Yadkin wine country. If you love wine that is sweet tasting and full of flavor Brushy Mountain is the place. If you're looking for just ONE place to pick up the bottle of wine- make it here. You do not need to look else where.
